Skyline Chili! A Cincinnati staple and also on the list of CN travel's must try foods when visiting Ohio. For transparency I have never been inside a Skyline! But I have been in the drive through a good handful of times. My first encounter with Skyline was many moons ago when I ordered a chili dog sans cheese and hated it and told myself I was never coming back, I mean who puts cinnamon in chili!? However I did come back and I am glad I did. When friends visited town I got some for them to try as a tourist food with the warning it's not good and to not have any expectations. I got the chili 5 ways and the hot dogs with cheese, chili, and onions (3 way?). This time we all really enjoyed it! There is something special about the ultra thinly shredded cheese. Is it outstanding? No, but I'd get it again! I still don't like the cinnamon chili but it's tasty enough with the cheese that's I'd happily look the other way. Also I heard a rumor about spicy cheese so I would love to come back to try that. read more

Perfectly fine Skline Chili location overall. The place was clean, the service was friendly and fast, and the food was tasty and cheap. I ordered my go-to two cheese coneys with the hot spicy cheese and an order of cheese fries with the same kind of cheese only melted. The food tasted great. We had it in minutes after ordering it. Our drinks never went empty and neither did our saucer dishes of oyster crackers. Pretty much all you could ask for in a Skyline Chili location. Would definitely go here again if I were in the area and in the mood for some Skyline. read more

Skyline is another Cincinnati tradition. I had heard about this restaurant way back when I was living in Cincinnati, but I never had a chance to dine here. I ordered a Club Soda and a Chili bowl w/ light on cheese w/o any beans. Pros: The Chili by itself has a lot of flavor. The taste is unique due to their secret ingredient, I guess. However, adding copious amounts of their Skyline Hot Sauce into this Chili bowl explodes the flavors in your mouth with every bite (+1) Staff were very friendly. Tina, was our waitress. She thoroughly explained the menu to us as we had couple of people at our table who were Skyline virgins. This location is by far the WORST location we have been to yet. and we are skyline LOVERS (once a week, at least) We thought maybe they just had a bad night and went back several times to give them chances... Nope. if you get a 3,4 or 5 way, dont expect to get the cheese THAT YOU PAY FOR... if you get a 1/2 pint, expect 1/4 pint and if you want shredded cheese, walk away. they put the cheese on top of the chili or the way, which makes it melt back into a block... WHY shred the cheese if you're just going to waste that hard work to melt it to a brick again?!? My friend and I went at a weird time for lunch (around 3pm) we thought no one was in there because of this but we were wrong the food is the reason no one was there. We are from Michigan and I had tried Skyline chili years ago and really liked it. Apparently my memory isn't good because this time it was disgusting. There was nothing good about it. The spaghetti has no bite, the chili is a watery brown strangely flavored mess and even all that cheese could not save it. read more

For a corporate store... they have it going on. I would never consider going through a drive-through at a Skyline, but that's an option here. Growing up in Cincinnati it is a must to dine in when visiting from Chicago. I enjoy the squeeze bottles of hot sauce, as it makes filling the oyster crackers easier to become atomic crackers. I'm hoping to be able to stop back on a Wednesday at 2 pm to meet Charlie, who is pictured in the corporate mural. This is one of my favorite Skylines, and yes there are a lot to choose from, but I will gladly drive the extra 5-10 minutes to go to this one. I don't know if it's because their chili just seems fresher and hotter, or the noodles done just right, or the staff going out of their way to make sure you're taken care of, regardless if they're your server or not. True story. The staff here is so nice and friendly and will gladly chat you up if you'd like. They always take care of each other, whether getting refills or crackers or what not for you, even if they aren't getting the tip off you. This place is always hopping at lunch time, and you soon realize why as soon as you step inside and are greeted by smiles and hellos all around. They also have a pretty sweet lunch club, in which every time you spend $5 they give you a card that they punch, and you're 8th trip in is $5 off! Just for eating out somewhere you normally would! That's why they get that 5th star. That and Skyline's just delicious! read more

Ordered pretty much when we sat down then after 12 minutes the family who came in after us got served by the same waitress and we still needed our drinks. When I started going to this location it wasn't a separate building yet. I still go decades later, and it's still a solid spot. In general the management is good and the staff courteous. It's hard to review a chain like skyline - you like it or not there's not a lot of middle ground. IMO it's better than gold star, but that's beside the point. This particular location is worth stopping at if you want a skyline experience that is superbly sufficient. read more

The amount of chili they put on a three-way has gone down and down until today when I basically had some expensive spaghetti with the flavor of chili (1/2 ounce of chili maybe) and a paltry amount of cheese. I guess I just dont get the hype and the fact there is one of these on every busy corner in Cincinnati. We were starving after a long day of driving and were really looking forward to giving skyline a try. It must be a regional thing, but being from Texas, this is not the chili I know, its not even close. Skyline is a Cincinnati icon and deserves our immediate attention after landing back home in Ohio. We happened upon this place as it is near our hotel... When you come here you seat yourself and the menus are on the table. We were attended to quickly and everything was great. Erica had her favorite coneys and I (not being a chili fan) enjoyed the buffalo chicken wrap and cheese fries. The food was great and really made us feel at home. first time ever having Cincinnati style chilli. its a bit saucy but absolutely addictive and satisfing. would take someone like me; whom is used to eating "chuncky" style chilli some use to. spices are fantastic in this chilli. reminds me of gas station chilli. where you put on chilli dogs... but way tastier. read more

Had a lot of fun eating here at the counter the other day. Love some coneys with chili cheese & onion on top. The fried dough things with the powdered sugar are awesome and I also heard they are good for you. Finished all of my 3 way chili despite not being hungry! Quite enjoyed the combination of chili with spaghetti and cheese... Nice cinnamon flavor in the chili itself. The food is always good. My complaint is that we eat there at least twice per week. Never does the management nor most employees ever acknowledge us. The reason I starting going there on a regular basis was because of the management prior to the ones that are there now. They made use feel important and welcome. The management now makes us feel unwanted, so we have decided to start driving further to a different Skyline Chilli. I go into Waffle House a lot less often and they welcome me by name, know exactly what I drink and acknowledge me as I leave. Total professional, welcoming atmosphere.
