Nice decor

If you prefer Skyline Chili over other Cincinnati-style chili or just plain like Skyline, then this location is in my opinion the best in Kentucky. Compared to other locations, everything here just seems better. Service here was super fast and friendly. Our server Joede was especially nice and seemed to go out of her way to make sure our experience was excellent. Though this location has been here for quite some time, the store looks brand new and everything was very clean. I ate in during my most recent visit and really was again impressed by the quality and freshness of the food. I had a buffalo chicken (with bacon) Skypie. I had never had this item before as I don't believe it is available at other locations - it was great! The dough was thin and crispy, and I liked this better than Empress' pizza for sure. I'd certainly recommend the bacon - along with everything else, it made the dish. The person I was with had a standard 3-way with extra cheese on the side (because why not), and of course being Skyline, it came with a generous amount of cheese! I'm not sure if this has to do with it being a franchise location or not, but this location also has daily specials. Always a plus! I'm not sure if Skypiez are available at other locations yet or if its franchise-specific. If you are used to going to other Kentucky or Cincinnati locations, I'd certainly recommend this location if you have never been. Now my favorite Skyline!

Burrito Deluxe - that's supposed to be chili between the cheese and tortilla. Very unhappy with this.

I honestly wouldn't recommend the Highland Heights location, UNLESS you're ONLY getting the Skyline Pizza they offer. We always ate at the Newport Skyline, but moved and started going to Highland Heights, because it's closer. I usually get either the Skyline pizza or the Burrito Deluxe. At Newport, they load the burrito with the bean mix and chili. And top it with a mound of cheese. At the Highland Heights location, it's as thin as a napkin. The 1st time it happened, I thought it was just a fluke. It was a carry out, so I just ate it. But it was all tortilla and nothing else and NOT good. The 2nd time was also a carry out. My husband brought it home and it was the same flat, chililess, bean mix-less burrito as last time. I called, because I KNOW what I have always received at Newport, and this was half of that. I was told it was all pre-portioned, and that I'd have a credit for another Burrito Deluxe. So, we took our girls to lunch and ordered a 3rd Burrito Deluxe (the credit), a few cheese coneys, a couple of 3-ways, and a Skyline pizza. The cheese was skimpy on everything. The burrito was, again, very thin. I do have to praise their Sky Pies (Skyline pizza), though. I've had it a couple of times, and it's always really good. I add spaghetti to it for the full 3-way effect. But, as our go to, we'll continue to drive to the Newport Skyline for coneys, 3-ways, and burritos.

Coney with cheese and a 3-way.

Miranda made MAGIC happen , that BLT...was L.I.T.! The prices at Red's are not bad for a good sandwich, actually not bad fir a great 5.00 buck lunch ($4.99) will get you whats in the pictures. Now why 3 stars not 5? While the manager I gathered, was taking in a shipment; the young lady at the register was quick to ask can I help, but. the tone was more can you hurry up. Well I asked if they serve food, because at first walking in I didn't really see a setup for it but she just pointed right back to the area where Miranda was standing and just looked as if. Since I didn't actually see the food counter coming in, I was thinking it might have been someone's lunch that smelled really good, but just based upon the fact that good prices, a good BLT; I ordered a BLT two bags of Smartfood popcorn and a ginger ale. Attitude is EVERYTHING to me, SERVICE..is everything to EVERYONE. If you are having a crappy day, step back and know you still have a job to do ( in the service field), you may not like the clientele that come to your establishment at the time I was there... But in the words of Clarence Avant "At the end of the day, its all about the money". Make your money. Be nice to EVERYONE & I'll be back, its a good spot with great prices and food..and Miranda makes a DOPE BLT

This was fine because the bartender was also our server. She was super sweet and attentive. She also helped us figure out what to order. She mentioned their steak is fantastic. We followed her direction and ordered steak like it was the only thing on the menu. The place is super cute. We started with an order of steak nachos. OMG... this is a meal for the whole table. It was super delicious. Oh... you can have any protein you'd like, but of course we ordered steak. There were a fair number of jalapeños in the mix, but they were nowhere near overly spicy. If you are here for the first time with a group of four or less, you may want to think twice before ordering the nachos because it is a LOT of food. As yummy as it was, it was filling and made eating the rest of our meals a bit of a challenge. Three folks went for one of the lunch specials, which are 1. Burrito (protein of choice) with a small serving of chips and salsa and 2. Two tacos (choice of protein, Birria not included) w/ rice. All three ordered the burrito. I believe everyone got steak. Most could only eat one half. Mark was talking about his burrito hours later. I love Birria and like to try it wherever it is available. I ordered Birria tacos (order of 3). I struggled to eat all three, but I succeeded. Not only were they great, but the star was the taco wrap. It had a slightly salty flavor and tasted freshly made. Mark also commented on the burrito wrap itself. It looked similar to my taco shell/wrap. The taste of the wraps/shell truly elevated the flavor overall. We had to try the Churros for dessert. The serving was much larger than I expected. It can easily be shared by two. It is served warm, which was a treat. Mark didn't love them, but I thought they were a deliciously sweet ending to the meal. If you're feeling full, but still want to try the dessert, go for it but consider sharing. It's fair to say we will return.

Dixie Chili beats Skyline Chili…read more There! I said it! Yeah, so it's true. Since the untimely demise of the classic "Covington Chili" parlor about 6 or 8 years ago, Dixie is tops in my book. Don't get me wrong, however. Skyline (or Gold Star, or Blue Ash, etc) is great. Both recipes are excellent, but Dixie's taste is a little bolder. And, when comparing macros to macros, Dixie stacks up better (more protein, less fat). BOLD FLAVORS: Note that one option for the Dixie's chili mac is the famous "6 way." A 6-way, is the standard Cinci/Greek "5-way," (Spaghetti, chili, beans, onions, cheese) with the addition of chopped garlic! Be careful with the 6 way...it doesn't take much garlic to overpower the other flavors. Atmosphere: Classic retro diner-ish vibes. The service was excellent also. Want the best chili is the area? Cross the river and eat here. 5 stars!

Lately I've noticed the quality of the food and service has gone downhill. I understand there is new ownership and it appears they've cut back on help. This definitely shows with the attitude of the workers behind the counter. Often there is only one person fixing food and their attitude is bad and the food is very sloppy. You can tell Spiros isn't there to oversee the quality. And when the issues I can see are obvious, it makes me wonder where else has quality has declined like cleanliness and sanitation. I still love Dixie but would really like to see quality improve.
