Just on service alone I'm giving 5 stars. In Kentucky so had to go try Skyline chili. Never been but know that it's a staple in these parts. We were greeted upon entering and told to sit anywhere we wanted. Immediately greeted by the server and drink orders taken. We had to ask for a menu to browse. The waitress was so sweet! She said that it's not common for non-regulars to come in. You could tell that the place had mostly regulars because they knew each other by name. They have plenty of seating inside and the service is excellent. I ordered the 3-way potato. The cheese was piled so high so I did pull the bulk of it off. Food was out so quick and it was good. Just not used to this type of chili. read more

This is my first time trying Skyline Chili so I had no idea what to expect. We sat down and we had a lovely waitress come explain the menu to us. They gave us samples of the chili as well. I still feel iffy about chili on spaghetti so I ordered mine on a potato 5-way. It comes with chili, beans, onions, and a mountain of cheese. I swapped my cheese for the habanero cheese. I also tried their house hot sauce and it was pretty tasty! My kids liked the spaghetti as well. The kids' meal also comes with a drink and a dessert, so they opted for a popsicle. The chili is DELICIOUS. I am almost upset I'm trying it so late in my life but I'm grateful I finally did. read more

Amazing atmosphere, appearance of items ordered was spot on & the service was incredible. One of our sons, who grew up in Southwest Ohio, moved to Scottsdale a few years back. When he comes home, Skyline is always 1st thing he wants to go to. With a kind of late landing this trip, we found that this store was open late so here we went. Again, the folks working here are the nicest, the food was quite tasty and Brooke was incredibly nice considering how excited my son and his girlfriend were about finally getting back for Skyline Chili. We will for sure be back and I will keep asking for our 'Sweet Family' plaque to be added to the seat. :) read more

If you have friends or family from the area (Ohio? Kentucky? etc) that just don't stop about their beloved Skyline Chili and you've finally made it here, welcome but prepare to be underwhelmed. It's chili, nothing you would remember if you ate it and no one ever mentioned it again. I was on the fence between 3-4 stars. I went with 3 because of how important I think employee-customer interactions are. Unhelpful when I had questions, with the cashier rolling her eyes too. But how would I know how to order if there's NO MENU UP ANYWHERE. I'm still not sure why; maybe the only people that go there are regulars? Another customer nearby suggested the menus sitting on the tables.. interesting way for new customers to learn how to order. On top of all that, I have to mention the place was dirty. There were crumbs left on the tables near me and one family was sat before their table was even wiped down. I wonder if there are other processes they skimp on. We got our order of two simple bags of coneys quickly. I'm not sure how they were meant to be and they were good as far as I was concerned, but my family mentioned that it was actually wrong. Again, not terrible experience but definitely not on my to-do list for next time I'm in town. read more

This seemed to be a reasonably run location as the service was solid and the store looked good. It has the pretty standard menu of chili parlour fare with coney's, chili spaghetti, wraps, etc. My daughter really enjoyed her wrap so let's take at my own meal... 3 Cheese Coney's What Is It: It was 3 hot dogs with bun, chili, mustard, and cheese. Very straightforward. Presentation: I've seen better presentation of coney's before and I've seen worse. I do love their bright yellow cups though. 6 out of 10 Taste/Final Analysis: I like Skyline chili more than a lot of people I know. It's got a very distinctive almost sweet taste that people tend to either love or hate. I tend to like it as I always think it makes for a darn good cheese coney. They are a little heavy handed with the chili relative to the other things on here but it's not too drastic. I have some other things to check out from here but their cheese coney's get a passing grade. 7 out of 10 read more

Five stars for service! I walked in on a rainy day, looking confused.. A manager greeted me with a very friendly smile a shortly after I arrived. He asked if it was one or two. I was standing there alone but since I looked confused he thought I was looking for someone. I looked confused as I wasn't sure if I order first then sit down or order at a table. I saw some open spot at a bar counter, but he suggested he would clean up a nice booth area (enough for four people) so I can be comfortable. Menu was on a table so I carefully studied the entire menu. When one of my friends asked where I was off to this week, I said Cincinnati. His response was "cheese coney". That's all he said. I didn't think I had time to stop but I found one hour of free time before catching flight home. A quick yelp search based on key word "cheese coney" took me to this place. I asked a very friendly server about cheese coney and she pointed what it looks like on the picture. Each hot dog is $1.99 so I ordered two. They had so much cheese on it, I was struggling to eat. I asked for knife to help me cut into a bite size. (I was in a nice dress on that day as I had dinner meeting to attend upon arrival at PHX, so I didn't want to make mess on my clothes. Otherwise I would have used my hands). Since the plate was so small, a server kindly brought additional empty plate to help me eat. I transferred one of them and it was easier to use silverware when they have enough empty space on the plate. I was still hungry after I ate two of them, I proceeded to order "4 way", spaghetti with their famous chili. I added onions to make it 4 way. While I was eating 4 way, my friend lives in Cincinnati saw my Facebook photo upload on cheese coney and she suggested I order French fries... Apparently I missed this on the menu but they also sell chili with French fries. By the time I got her message, I finished eating two hot dogs and was working on spaghetti. I eat a lot but not that lot. I guess I would have to try that next time I am in town. I don't know if the food was that good or not, but I tasted Midwest. My server was very nice to me, she kept coming back to refill my iced tea and kept coming back to make sure I was still doing good. A manager also walked around and greeted regular customers by their name. He obviously doesn't know my name as it was my first time there but he came to my table to check on me too. Locals are weened on the sweet and spicy flavors of Skyline Chili. Mounds of finely shredded cheddar cheese is a beacon of home and hope for those of us from the Queen City. When the warm soft hot dog bun becomes one with the melted cheese and steamy hot chili your mouth not only waters but it will cry tears of joy. For those of you who are haters. I question your integrity. I don't trust any man or women who denies this fine flavor combination. We were featured on the Simpson's for god's sake. This is not a restaurant, it is an institution. If you don't like Skyline, you're the problem. You can find a Skyline on any corner, but we support our local chili parlor! My only disappointment here was the lack of a caffeine free diet drink option. Would love to see them fix that, but aside from that-keep up the good work. I don't understand why people like this. I got the classic 3 way (chili, cheese, spaghetti) but substituted the spaghetti for lettuce. This dish was 60% cheese, 15% chili and 25% lettuce. The chili was liquidy instead of thick and the flavor was kinda sweet. Most bites tasted like cheese with chili juice. Maybe it would have been better on speghetti but the chili itself isn't great. I give them 2 stars because the service was great. read more

Comparing the 5-way here to the Dixie Chili 6-way, I thought the flavor here was better than Dixie chili, but still not the best I've had. The chili was still watery - whether they just don't drain the noodles enough or the chili itself is watery I am not sure. I liked that it was table service instead of counter service, though if I was in a hurry counter might be better. I wish I'd had time to try some of the other Cincy parlors besides just these two. My favorite, by far, of the Cincy style chilis doesn't come from Cincy - it's Hard Times which is ubiquitous in the DC area. I keep thinking there has to be something actually in Cincy that at least comes close to it. Maybe on a future trip to the city I will find out. People need to stop comparing Cincy style chili to other non Cincy style chilis (Texas for example) as they are two totally different cuisines that happen to share a name. Think of it as an alternative pasta topping and you'll not be upset by mismatched expectations. read more

I dinned in the Fort Wright Skyline the other day and I had great service. I ordered three cheese coneys and a water. My order was made right before my eyes because I sat at the counter. It was very fascinating to watch. My meal was made within 4 minutes of ordering it. It looked great and tasted amazing. As I ate my meal, my drink and crackers never ran low. The waitress was very kind and wasn't rushing us to leave. I went to pay and since I am part of the Drug Free Club of America I received a free coney. I'm glad this Skyline honors being drug free. The meal filled me up and was very cheap. It was an overall a great experience. I'm definitely going to return to this Skyline. read more

Being born and raised around Cincinnati style chili, I can't say I'm a fan of it. I'm one of the few natives with this opinion! However, Skyline offers more than their chili. I order a classic chicken wrap or a cheddar potato. This is my FAVORITE Skyline location. Sometimes I drive out of my way to visit this location for two reasons. 1) The staff is incredibly friendly. It is a family owned establishment, and you can tell that everyone who works here loves what they do. You really can't beat the service! And 2) they are one of the few locations that serve the baked potatoes. The Skylines that aren't owned by this family don't have the potatoes and let me tell you, they are DELISH. Love love love them. SO, even if you hate the chili, there are other options on the menu! Trust me! It's a delicious place and you'll leave happy! read more

Who knew Skyline serves more than chili?! I went through the drive-thru recently and was pleasantly surprised to find a few wrap sandwiches on the menu. I ordered the southwestern wrap and a soft drink. I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken, onion, pepper, salsa combination in this tortilla wrap. We came in here during off hours to grab my first portion of chili. It came to me as a surprise that it was a sit down restaurant. We seated ourselves as they asked and it took them almost 10 minutes to come to us with menus despite the restaurant being practically empty. It was with that, the service was a bit disappointing, but everything other than that was great. The chili was not as heavy as most chilis as I've had which was great. It goes great with fries and cheese. I would highly recommend trying it, however, I did leave skyline wondering if I would come back. Not that it was bad, but I don't know if it was good enough to warrant repeated trips there. But if chili is your thing, go for it! read more

I really don't mind Skyline chili--just the chili or the burrito, though. On a rather chilly, rainy Sunday, with an empty belly, a bowl of Skyline chili sounded good AND it was on the way home so I didn't have to get out of the car with a sleeping toddler. The drive through at this location is perilous. Potholes that a Fiat could lose itself in, and it's not really well marked. The drive through menu also seems a little too concise. Not very much selection though I'm pretty sure all their menu items are portable. I ordered the half pint of chili at $3.99 and asked if I could have a little cheese and onions. I was told my total was $4.23. When I arrived at the window, the gal said, "I'm sorry, that will be $6.23 with the cheese and onions. Are you kidding me? The "half pint" of chili wasn't full and was like one of those tiny cups of coffee at truckstops that they refill endlessly and $2.00 for cheese and onions? No thanks, Skyline. I'll just go to Dixie from now on--it's also on my way home. read more

We were visiting from out of state for a football game and stopped in for some famous Cincinnati chili. The restaurant was clean and the staff super friendly. The waitress gave us bibs and the speghetti chili was awesome. Everyone else who came in to rest seemed to be regulars and it was very charming even though it is a chain. Skyline chili is definitely an acquired taste. And not one that I particularly enjoyed, but if you know what it is, you either love it...or don't. I didn't. But the staff was super friendly, our order came out quickly, was hot and well-prepared. The stuff just has an odd flavor and if you're not used to it and not a fan, it can be a jarring experience. Especially after driving for 12 hours. I wouldn't go back, but if you like the taste, I have absolutely no reason to suggest that you shouldn't. read more

I sat at the counter and placed my order right away. When the server returned my food was dropped with a comment about the new ordering system. My 3 way had too many onions and not enough cheese and my chili cheese sandwich lacked the onion and mustard I requested. A gentleman approached at one point to see if everything was okay, but I had a mouthful and couldn't respond. The server finally showed up when I was finished eating and I told her my chili cheese sandwich was missing onion and mustard. She removed half eaten sandwich and said she could make me another one and disappeared again. At check out same guy as before asked if everything was okay still, but didn't wait for an answer. Since everyone was in too big of a hurry to get an answer you now have my answer. No it was a completely unsatisfactory experience. I see now why you have 3 stars on Yelp. read more

I love Skyline. This review is more so for the service at this location, not the food. I ordered the usual items: small 4-way with beans and a coney with mustard. The company I was with ordered a kid's meal. It was cool that they allowed it since we are definitely over age. But I guess they just assume you want cheese on everything. But we did not want cheese and they charged us incorrectly as well. Again, I do love Skyline Chili. I see the other hater comments on Yelp and that's okay. I've been to Texas and love their chili as well. I've been to D.C., and they have some great chili. But I love Skyline. Stop hatin'! read more

Great location. I enjoy skyline quite a bit, though I probably prefer Dixie Chili. Anyway, I'm at this location enough to say, their service is great. I usually sit at the bar, and the manager will chat as he's making dishes. I'm not really a regular, but I frequent this location enough to say that the service is usually on point. A time or 2 over the last 10 years I've encountered a poor server, but typically I've never seen that individual again. They have several folks who have been there a long time too. read more
