Food just seems better here and the waiters work hard. Feels Retro. Would eat here again.

This must be an acquired taste. It wasn't for me. They had their grand opening and had $2.99…read moreoriginal sandwich. The bread is funky - tastes a bit like rye, but it's white (or wheat), the "sauce" is horrid, and the entire thing has kind of a dense quality that doesn't quite hit the mark. Again, probably an acquired taste, something some people like, but I suspect it's a select few. It's WORK to get through this thing, and you regret eating any of it finished, or in my case, given up and tossed the remainder you didn't eat. Thankfully, I wasn't a winner of a free sandwich every week for 52 weeks as part of the grand opening celebration. Nothing about this is a celebration. It is a shame really, because the surrounding area shows promise in development, you should pick another restaurant nearby if Schlotzky's is not your thing. Now I know why the one in Florence closed years ago.

We ordered 2 sandwich meals and a kids pizza meal. Our food was good despite the negative reviews…read moreon here. The pizza was definitely more tomato tasting than we prefer. Not wrong, but different than we are used to. Employees were kind. The time it took to prepare our food was reasonable, especially on a Sunday afternoon. Now the only reason I am giving a 4 star instead of 5: this location has Cinnabon. The counter appears to have Cinnabon items under a warmer but this was misleading. My churros were hard, stale, and cold. Based on the menu pictures, I expected it to come with icing dip. We left and I realized I did not receive icing. I should have went back in to complain about the taste but didn't. My husband got a cookie sandwich with icing in the middle. Assuming this was also a Cinnabon product, he said this was very good. Conclusion: I will definitely return for the sandwiches.

I'm not super familiar with the Independence, Kentucky dining scene, but Crewitts Creek Kitchen &…read moreBar has to be one of the best restaurants in the area. I stumbled upon Crewitts Creek while in Independence for my son's soccer game. I only had a short period of time, and though the restaurant and bar were pretty full, I was in and out in less than an hour. Happy Hour is available from 2-6 Tuesday through Friday (they are closed Mondays). Their pick any two for $13 from the Happy Hour menu is an amazing deal! The choices are side salad, wedge salad, bowl of Chili, soup of the day, Jr. club sandwich, or Jr. BLT with cheese. I started with the classic wedge salad with bleu cheese dressing, bleu cheese crumbles, applewood smoked bacon, red onion, and Roma tomatoes. This was a large serving and was full of toppings. My second choice was the Jr. BLT with cheese, and while it says Jr. in the name, this was a full-size sandwich featuring a grilled cheese combined with bacon, lettuce, and tomato. And it was even served with fries. I was not expecting this amount of food for a happy hour offering, but it was more than I could eat, and it was all freshly prepared and great tasting. I would definitely go back to Crewitts Creek again when given the chance.

Was difficult to get refills on bar drinks when ready and dinners were subpar. Strawberry salad chicken appeared to be boiled instead of grilled and steak special was a bit overcooked and unseasoned. Best part was the fried cheese and that always hits at this restaurant. Wedge salad was good also.
