The best experience! I've always wanted to go skydiving and I heard good things about Skydive Monterey Bay. Back in January I had scheduled my jump and paid the $50 deposit. As it got closer to my scheduled date I started receiving texts/emails with tips and weather updates. My jump date was scheduled for Saturday, the day before my birthday. Due to the weather my jump was set back a day. That worked out perfectly because it was a beautiful sunny day & I was able to jump on my birthday! You start by filling out a waiver. Going over paperwork, weighing in and pay. Bring cash! There is a discount for paying cash. I went with the 18,000 jump + pics/videos. *Also, keep in mind that you may want to bring a little extra for a tip for your Tandem instructor and videographer. You are given a scheduled time and you wait for your instructor to go over all the jump details. Then you load the plane. Or in my case, a bus takes you to the plane after the first set of jumpers have landed. On the plane, the instructors give more details about how to exit and what to do when while jumping. Then the jump! After landing you are transported back and able to get your certificate! Great experience! Awesome instructors and videographers! Totally worth it.

Just smile and have a blast and your photos will show it!

For my birthday, I decided to go big--18,000 feet big--with Skydive Monterey Bay. The great reviews and high-altitude option made the choice easy. Go big, or go home right?! The staff: Super chill and welcoming. Ana at the front desk was incredibly sweet. My jumpmaster, Kevin, made me feel safe from start to finish--great instructor, easygoing, and someone I knew I could trust. If I ever jump again, I'd definitely ask for him. Tony, my videographer, captured some incredible footage, and it was awesome watching him fly around with us in the air. These guys are not just professional skydivers--they're absolute badasses. And trust me, after this experience, you'll feel like one too! Pro tip: Get the ultimate video & picture package. It's totally worth it! There's so much happening in the moment that you won't even realize until you watch it back. The only heads-up I'd give--if you're prone to motion sickness, you might feel it a bit before the landing, but I had no issues feeling sick going up or jumping out. If you're thinking about skydiving, just do it--and do it here! 10/10 would do it again in a heartbeat!

I had a great experience with my first jump at Skydive Monterey Bay! All the staff was enthusiastic and friendly, I felt very safe and encouraged, and everything was super clear and informative. My jumpmaster Emmett was AWESOME and made the experience super fun and memorable. I highly recommend! Personally, I did experience airplane ear during the freefall and nausea during parachuting but that was no one's fault and I knew those were possible side effects. Overall couldn't have asked for a better first skydiving experience

I did the 18k tandem skydive at this location. This was my first ever skydiving experience and I am super afraid of heights. My instructor was Tyler and through out the entire journey, he made sure I aa m not scared and enjoy the full experience. I am probably going to ask him as my guide again if I do another jump from this location :)

For someone who is scared of heights, skydiving was still something on my bucket list. Skydive Monterey was an interesting experience- I felt like it was a little unorganized in the sense that they crammed as many people as they can in one day to get as many jumps in as possible because we spent over 3 hours just waiting for our turn to jump. They switched my instructor at the very last minute as we were boarding the plane and during the entire ride up, that was when I was given new jump and landing instructions, which made me super nervous cause they were different from what the previous instructor had told me. Nonetheless, this was still a great experience!

I highly recommend Skydive Monterey Bay if you are curious about skydiving. I felt completely comfortable and in good hands throughout the entire process. The location is great and the views of Monterey Bay were stunning from above. My instructor, Moe, was excellent and explained clearly what to expect throughout the jump. Regretfully, I forget the name of the videographer that went with us as well, but he was great too. Be careful if you love rock climbing or other expensive hobbies; you may be tempted to pick up a new one! What a great sport. Go to Skydive Monterey Bay when you're ready to give it a try.

We did skydiving for my husband's birthday and it was such an amazing experience! We both loved it! My instructor Kyle is wonderful and I would definitely come back and jump with him again. The training was easy, he made feel safe, and when we were up in the sky he let me try to navigate the parachute, it was so much fun! Definitely recommend Kyle and this place for your first jump, especially if you wanna do the 18000 feet.

Amazing experience! The staff were very friendly and welcoming! Rowan made my first skydiving experience unforgettable and Christoper captured the best moments. I am already thinking about my next jump! Thank you Skydive Monterey Bay

Awesome experience! We got in right before 10 and were the first ones in the hangar. We were 30 minutes early for the call time at 10:30, though people were definitely able to trickle in a quarter past. The staff is super friendly and great to talk with, all of the Master Jumpers (skydiving certified experts who take you on this journey) were very chill and knew how to keep you calm throughout the experience. The wait time is a bit long from 10:30 into 12:30 when we actually started jumping, but there were enough tables and sofas to lounge around in and great, friendly people to talk with to occupy your time. (We were also prepared for the downtime by reading reviews prior to going) There are coin-operated lockers where you can store small bags and your phones and the system seems pretty safe with giving the keys to the staff via a bowl at the front desk before getting into your harnesses and queuing for the plane ride up (there is not too much movement in the hangar besides staff, no stragglers arrive after 11 is what I noticed). The actual experience of free-falling at 18,000 feet was both terrifying and exhilarating, the nerves and adrenaline didn't even kick in until we got into the plane and were straddling the foam benches on both sides of the tiny plane. For me, when we were climbing the first 5000 feet of elevation, that's when I started internally freaking out. I was the first person to jump out of the plane with my Jump Master Cathy (awesome gal, by the way - I think she's Italian or Spanish?), and my cameraman Chris was super friendly and chill. Though we jumped on a clear blue sky day with little to no wind, I will say it's hard to breathe when free-falling from such a height. That, or I started panicking and with winds hitting your face at over 100 mph, it adds to the difficulty in getting air. I think if I ever do this again, the key is to breathe calmly and not try to open the mouth to suck in air. My suggestion to the crew is to maybe offer full helmets or face masks for 18,000 feet jumps as well. Though we do not get spiffy jumpsuits like other skydiving companies, they do give you goggles and you're very secure in your harnesses attached to your Master Jumper. Once Cathy deployed our parachute after 1-2 minutes of free-falling, I was finally able to breathe (and very suddenly too) - I for one am terrified of heights, so dangling and swinging in the air and looking down, I had the dropping feeling in my gut, but only for a few moments before I got to take in the beauty of the bay and the greenery all around us in the Monterey area. The overall experience from jumping out to landing was about 9-10 minutes, the plane ride up was about another 9 minutes. Overall, the entire experience took about 18 minutes. NOTE: IF YOU ARE CONGESTED, DO NOT GO SKYDIVING/JUMPING!! You will wreck your Eustachian tube in your ears (aka airplane ears). A few first time jumpers experienced this, though I was fine. But it's important to not risk this. 10/10 would do again but probably ONLY with a facemask and if there are no high winds. Proud to say that I am one step closer to overcoming my crippling fear of heights all the while knocking one more item off my bucketlist before I turn 30. :)

Is it cold when you jump off 18k feet at this time of year- December?

Yes, it is cold, but not unbearably so. I suggest wearing gloves, or they do have some there in a box that you can borrow. I layered with an undershirt, a long sleeve t-shirt and a sweatshirt. I was fine...

I came here with my friend and we literally booked a spontaneous skydive appointment. The nerves were definitely skyrocketing but I'm so glad I had a really good tandem partner that I could rely on. The front desk lady Paige was super chill, very nice, and she gladly took some pictures of us after our dive. If you come, make sure you bring a good jacket/hoodie with you or else it does get pretty cold all the way up in the air. You're going to put all your stuff away in a locker until after you land back on ground. I can honestly say that the scariest thing about this jump is probably once the door opens, but after that it feels like bliss as you're being carried by the wind. I thought I was gonna get that stomach drop feeling, but I didn't feel it at all which was weird! You literally don't feel the nerves as you're freefalling and it was amazing with the views. All I could focus on was trying to look okay for the camera aha Huuuuge shoutout to my tandem partner Petro Portela!!! He made me feel so comfortable from the flight up and to my jump down. And thank you for keeping me safe. That was wild and crazy fun. especially with the canopy spins in the air! Definitely a 10/10 experience in a lifetime and I would totally do that again in the future.

I had mentioned I am not comfortable asking for a doctors note due to the severity of the situation, my boyfriend & many of his family ended up getting weeks off work, that's how severe the situation was. I love surpises, but hate that he doesn't tell me anything except "dress sporty!" :( I put on my stretchy pants and work out top thinking, he'll take me kayaking to Monterey since this is where we're heading. Oh boy. We took a detour to Hollister and I'm like, "are we going horseback riding? or riding a tractor? coz I ain't dressed for skydiving!!" When we arrived, I was so surprised to find that we are going to ride a GLIDER PLANE! :0 Have you seen these things? it weighs about 900 lbs. (super light!!), has long thin glider wings (hence the name) and can reach altitudes of about 4000ft. (HIGH) .... for a plane WITHOUT ANY ENGINES. That's right. Nada. So, how do you get up there in the blue yonder? You get hooked onto a tow plane by a thin piece of rope (I was doubtful, but it did the job!) once you reach a certain altitude as determined by the pilot, the rope gets cut off and then ... you plunge to your death!!! Kidding. We actually stayed in the air quite effortlessly. It got a bit bumpy and I felt nauseated for a bit since there wasn't enough fresh air in that small plane. The fiance and I were squished in the backseat with our legs stuffed in the smallest of spaces and his arm was wrapped around my shoulder because it was really TIGHT in there. Also, I think it would've been better if I wore shorts instead of my stretchy pants which was made of non-breathable material and it was 97 degrees in Hollister that day. Yikes. We circled around Fremont Peak, gazed at the fields below and stared in the distance at the blue waters of Moneterey. It was incredibly peaceful up there. The flight lasted for 40 mins and then safely landed. For an engineless plane and having small wheels, I was shocked at the smooth experience #mindblown. I always tell the fiance that experiences are the best gifts and this one is no different! :) So thankful that I got to experience a fantastic flight with my love! Also, I got my nice birthday dinner after and got to wear my fancy pants too.
