I had my first jump on my birthday and the staff were fun and made me feel safe, both on the ground and in the air. I had no idea how many people LOVE to squeeze into a small space and jump out of perfectly good flying machine. I will admit that fear made my extremities kind of lock and I found myself grabbing for anything, bird, butterfly....but once the shoot opened even when the death squeeze on my thighs from the straps keeping me from dropping like a turkey from the sky, I could see what looked like the entire world. I went skydiving here for the first time and had an amazing experience. Everything went smoothly, but unfortunately, my video got lost in the process. The staff was incredibly apologetic and truly went above and beyond to make it right. They offered to take me again at no cost, and both times my videographer Kevin Weckerle and my tandem instructor Dennis McGlynn were both phenomenal. Kevin captured everything perfectly and even put together a fantastic edited video that I'll always treasure. Dennis made the entire jump feel safe, fun, and exciting--I couldn't have asked for a better tandem instructor. What impressed me most was how much the team cared about making sure I had the best possible experience. When they realized the first time the video was gone they immediately took responsibility and made sure I left with memories (and a video) I'll never forget. What an amazing experience! I've entered a period in my life when I'm being open to new experiences. So when the idea of skydiving popped into my head a week ago, I decided to go for it before I had a chance to chicken out. I opted for the 18,000 ft jump, the highest available. Oxygen is necessary while going up in the plane at this level. It was also recommended that I wear a jumpsuit because it gets cold that high. The jumpsuit made me feel a little more badass so I recommend it. Plus it kept my own pants from getting dirty from the landing. Everybody else in the plan jumped at 13,000 ft, so I was the last one, along with Toshi, my tandem guide, and Emilie, my videographer. I was surprisingly not that nervous. Watching the other jumpers disappear out of the door was a bit scary, and the moment that we jumped out of the plane was the scariest part. But that only lasted 2 seconds max. The freefall wasn't scary at all, probably because I had no recognition of how fast we were going (120 mph) as we were falling. Plus, I felt completely safe strapped to Toshi. Since we jumped from so high, our freefall lasted quite a long time relatively. Emilie (who was amazing to watch as she "flew") had asked beforehand if I wanted to do some spins. Of course I said yes. So as we were falling, she grabbed my hand and we spun together. Later, after the parachute was opened, Toshi let me have the control straps for a bit. He also spun the parachute in fast circles, which was really fun. The landing was perfect. I landed so softly on my butt, it was like somebody gently laid me down. As all the other reviews say, Toshi was just the perfect tandem guide. Upbeat, friendly, funny, and knowledgable. Emilie also. We had a great rapport. I screamed pretty much the entire jump. But it was out of exhiliration, not fear. Never did I feel unsafe. I went there alone, without friends to accompany me or to watch. It wasn't about showing off (though bragging rights are pretty damn awesome). It was just something I wanted to experience. Let me tell you, if you're in a period of your life where you're feeling down or discouraged, come here for a jump and scream at the top of your lungs as you fall. The high will last all day. And get a video package because you'll relive that high a bit every time you rewatch it. There was a camera mishap for part of my flight so some footage wasn't captured. But the end video was still amazing and I've probably watched it a dozen times already today, which I was not expecting to do. The only minor criticism I have is that I was told to arrive no later than 8:45 for my 9am jump. Yet we didn't even enter the plane until past 9:30. We were the first flight so it's not like they were backlogged ahead of us. Still, it in no way detracted from the experience for me. In fact, I hope to come back for another jump. read more

Pros: Great FUN jump at 13k ft!! Super safe, friendly, knowledgeable staff!! Shout out to Capt Kirk, Taylor, and Dennis for all the awesome video/pics, high-fives and laughs!! Cons: Poor time management and Poor customer service. We showed up on time (with all of our online paperwork completed) only to wait for 1.5 hours before being suited up and educated. We felt out of place and shuffled around because there was no point person for our experience. This wasn't my first time skydiving and I still remember how personable and organized it all was when I jumped in Florida in 2006. As soon as I arrive to the office all the staff was super friendly and helpful. I was still nervous... as soon as my instructor came over and introduced himself I felt a huge relief... From the moment we stepped in the door just before 8am the owner and staff were awesome. Cracking jokes, upbeat and talkative, great personalities for anyone nervous about skydiving. We were a party of 3 and got checked in quickly, we booked online and paid a $75 deposit when we arrived we paid the remaining $130 (we booked on an online special). We were told to just hang tight while the rest of the jumpers got checked in. We checked out the swag shop where they have everything from stickers, to t-shirts and hoodies, and even jumpsuits. After not much time we saw our names come up on a tv screen and who we were paired to jump with. One by one our partners came over to get us to get us geared up and strapped in. I was with Clark who greeted me with a warm smile and excited tone. He got me suited up and asked me questions about myself and talked about himself as well. Any nerves I had subsided talking to him. He then stood next to me and detailed how things were going to go having me do the movements right along side him. I felt like he was very thorough and made me excited to get going. Once in the plane he talked me through bit of what was going on, strapped me together with him and it was ready for jump time, I was shocked by how not nervous I was and in big part due to Clark. The jump was amazing, and unlike anything I can explain, Clark was asking how I was feeling and asked if I wanted to go faster (I did, obviously! Haha) and was letting me experience how holding/pulling my arms different directions did things with the parachute. The landing was so smooth and effortless. The guys on the ground were right there working as a team to grab each pair as we landed. Afterwards we got a certificate of achievement for our jump which was such a cool added touch and I'll keep forever. When I got home I also got emailed an awesome video that we could purchase! I know this was a long review but for anyone even considering skydiving, this is the place you want to go. They put any nerves at ease, they're thorough and great at communicating what the plan is and what's going on, the staff is so fun and even when bantering with each other, they make for a great environment. I'd signed up for the first session of the Accelerated Free Fall program a.k.a. "learn to skydive on your own". The ground training was an exhaustive 5+ hours session. Unfortunately, the first day the wind was above 15mph so my actual jump was postponed for a later date. Come the day, I was made to again go through all the jump procedure once again by the instructor. We flew up to about 12000 feet in a King Air with my two jump instructors. I was warned that most first timers lose their nerves as they approach the door for the jump and was asked to remain calm as much as possible. I played with my breathing and soothed myself as our turn came to jump -- I was first ! Funnily enough I was not nervous one bit and coolly walked towards the door without a second's hesitation; I knew having second thoughts would totally screw with my mind ! My lead instructor and the assistant instructors held on to my belt on either side of me as we all hung out of the aircraft hurtling through the air at (probably) about 200mph. We did the "right? check ! left ? check ! Up ... down ... Up" ... and AWAY we go , all three of us ejecting away from the plane as I see the aircraft leaving us mid air for a split second. We flex our legs and arms backwards as we slowly move from a vertical position towards the stabilizing horizontal position due to the "shuttle effect" --- the limbs facing back with the torso sticking forward against the wind pretty much makes us practically a cone against the wind. The aerodynamics of this action helps us (relatively) easily stabilize to the classical skydiving posture --- now you know why the legs and hands are spread out the way they are --- they aren't trying to mimic superman, or scream "look ma, no hands!" I vaguely remember the wind against my face at 120mph (I am told that terminal velocity of the ordinary skydiver) but totally unable to admire the scenery beneath since I had to go through the procedure of counting "1000...2000...3000... check the horizon ... check my altimeter ... touch my chute release knob ... look at my instructor on the right .. (get the thumbs up) ... look at my instructor on the left .. (get the thumbs up) ... and back to 1000 ... 2000 etc" . And you better remember the instructions as there's no way you can ask questions then: "In Free Fall, No One Can Hear You Scream!" Forgetting the procedure means you get a failed grade and have to repeat the jump (at your cost) if you ever want to get to being certified. The count is probably about the only time I get to "check out" the mass of terra firma below, rapidly approaching like a runaway train with the two instructors on either side holding on to my belt straps and arm to help stabilize me during the free fall. At 5000 ft. I wave my hand once again, signalling in a single wave, informing all jumpers in the vicinity that I will be deploying my chute, I pull the chord and "PHRRRRAMPH !!!" the jerk of the parachute was quite the experience not unlike a wild roller coaster slamming through the trough of a steep U curve as I am literally ripped away from the hands of my instructors. I rapidly (an understatement) decelerate from a vertical velocity of 120mph to less than 10mph in about (I reckon) 3-4 seconds. *NOW* I get to admire the scenery .. here I am about 4000 ft up in the air with only the wind whistling into my ears and total silence all round me. You can see more than a 100 miles out into the horizon and learn to appreciate the curve of the sweet ol' blue planet --- one doesn't need to go into space to appreciate that ! :-) I pulled the directional chords on each hand to let the parachute descend slowly in a circular motion. Unfortunately I screwed up my landing and ended up with swollen knees, a shiner and overall a lot of pain ! That last part is not recommended and should not be tried at home !!! I hope to go for a tandem jump one day to get over the newfound fear. The funny thing is I have a fear of heights (looking down the stairwell of any building more than 20ft makes my knees weak) and this was some sort of a self imposed rite-of-passage to face my fears ! :-P Coming to the instructors and folks running the show at the Skydiving place, I gotta say I had a very good experience. The instructors were professional, very knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and had a good sense of humor. I'd recommend it (both the sport and the place). I wish I could dive again ... the diaphanous clouds and the blue skies are calling out to me ! read more

10/10 experience. Writing this review to again thank my tandem jumper (JD) and videographer (Jason). Both made the experience a lot of fun and I felt very safe. JD was so chill and friendly that it helped with my "first time" skydiver anticipation nerves. Great guide when in the air pointing out some landmarks and doing fun moves as well. Jason was very friendly and an excellent videographer. They gave great tips prior to the jump of how to stay relaxed and what to do once out of the plan (even if I forgot the tips mid air lol). What a great first time experience. 10/10 recommend these two if you're at BAS. Left me wanting to definitely do this again! The rest of the staff were very outgoing and friendly as well. My husband and I have been wanting to skydive for the longest time. So we finally said let's just so it in his birthday. I went on groupon to look for deals and stumbled upon this place. We were thinking of Tahoe or Santa Cruz but seen that this one is only 20 minutes away from us so we bought the groupon for this location. We were 2nd in line to jump. A group of 3 had beat us there. They have port o potties outside. It looks like they're doing some work inside. The experience for myself sucked because of the peopIe I had in my crew but my husband had the best crew & I'm happy that he did. First of, the guy I had NATE did not explain anything at all to me. He just started putting the harness on me and it felt like he was a bit inappropriate. Then he walked out and was not around at all to explain what's going to happen or what I need to do or anything AT ALL. Meanwhile my husband's crew were the best. While Toshi (the instructor) was putting on the harness on my husband he was explaining what he needs to do or what to expect and all the safety stuff that I should be hearing from my own instructor. I just listened to what Toshi was saying Then everyone was already inside the plane except for me & Clay who was my videographer/photographer because Nate was nowhere to be found. They overhead paged him and everything. We were 5 minutes delayed. We added pictures and videos for our package since it's our first time and my hubby's birthday. Dalton was my husband's videographer/photographer and he was DOPE all around. The pictures and video for him came our really nice. Clay was nice but most of my pictures were either I was too far or my eyes were closed or about to close, I didn't have one single nice picture of myself. The only good thing Nate did for me is bring me back to earth. Overall my experience would be a 1 star. My husband's Crew Toshi & Dalton 5 stars for sure. The owner may have saved my life. I jumped tandem and then tried my first two assisted solo jump. I went through there Flight school but Because of back issues and zero indoor skydiving time I was not able to get stable in the air myself. The first time they stabilized me and I attempted practice touching my parachute deployment thingy. Flying the parachute down was beyond amazing so I wanted to try again. I jumped, freaked out, and curled in a ball. I fell from the sky like a rock. Both my instructors flew down and one pulled my chute for me. Yes there is a safety chute that may deploy at low elevation but that's not a guarantee. The owner may not be particularly personable but he tries his best with a crazy stressful job. The owner and his other instructor probably saved my life. Do you want pleasantries or safety? I choose living rather than commenting on a business owner doing his best.
