I cannot say enough what a wonderful time we had on this trip. The company I work for took 23 of us up for a two day rafting adventure and it was outstanding. From the rafting guides, to the food, to the friendly atmosphere I was astounded how smoothly everything ran. The safety was a concern of some members of our group but after the safety meeting everyone was ready to roll and it was a blast. Was amazed at how great all the pictures the staff took were and how fast they were sent out to us. Already working on getting another group together for next year!!! Casey that is just a heads up not a warning!! Thank you again for everything.

It was everyone's first time river rafting in my group (except one). We had so much fun!! I personally waited until July 6th to schedule just for the river to be slower. However, next year when I go, I'll go earlier in the year lol! We had a great time and "Stevie B" was the mooooooost awesome guide!!

Wow what an experience! I love how this place is run and how well they take care of their customers. Great camping, great food, and great ride on the river. It was especially fun in 2023 with the high water from all the snow melt from the Sierras. Highly recommend this outfit for a river rafting trip. Come with a group and you'll enjoy it together. Don't be afraid of the river, the guides are great.

Been going on the Mighty Kings for 13 years and there is no better company than KRE! I went with two other companies that were nearby, and they couldn't measure up. KRE sets up every year to represent! I love taking my group of friends out for an annual trip as well as my whole office to celebrate.

I won't lie I was pretty nervous white water rafting on a small boat but I was excited with all the rain we got this year that the rapids and river would be full and flowing... I've done it twice at Jackson Hole Wyoming and they were the bigger boats. But our guide Gary was awesome ! Let me start off by saying how impressed with how the entire staff was soo friendly and organized ! We went with my sister's gym and from the moment we got there for our 1000am Sunday slot everyone was welcoming. They rung the bell and provided an in detail safety lesson then we had a delicious lunch and then we suited up ready to go to the river. They have all the gear clean and ready for you ! We got in the bus and shuttled all of us to the rafting boats. Gary was great ! He went over in detail the safety lesson, went over the different commands and wanted us to practice each command until we felt comfortable. He was always communicating with us and encouraging us. Midway through the rafting trip all the boats stop at a little beach part of the river to be able to jump out of the boat and take a little break. The water was nice and cool especially on the 108 degree type of day. As we continued further down the river the views were spectacular and all along the river they had professional people taking our photos! We ended right back at our campsite which was nice and they had a little happy hour snacks ready for us! Overall it was such a great experience with professional people who obviously know what they are doing ! I would definitely come back again!

I have been rafting with a few different companies in a few different areas and this is by far one of the best I have ever done. To start off the price is a steal! We had two nights of camping, one half day of rafting with lunch and dinner included for $185 a person! They have a decent campground set up right on the water. The do have a toilet bathroom on site, just make sure to bring a table since there is none set at camp sites. They do have a camp mess hall kitchen when they provide you meals. Super good options for lunch we had chicken fajitas with rice beans and all the fixings. We then set off in the bus heading to the launch location. It was about a 15min bus ride and you then end right back at camp. They have it super easy where you dont have to carry the boat far at all like other rivers i have rafted. After you finish and come back right on camp they have a happy hour set with beer, wine, soda and snacks! Amazing after just finishing 4 hours on the water. While your relaxing and cleaning up from the day they are preparing a spectacular dinner. That includes tri-tip, chicken, rice, and salad. Best part of the camping trip is not having to spend the time cooking cleaning and just getting to enjoy the trip. We had such a spectacular time. They have a volleyball court and corn hole. Only thing is be cautions of the skunks! I have never seen or been ambushed by so many skunks, not sure if we were set up in their den or they have a love for us bit there was so many in our camp. We will be prepared for next time.

SUCH A GREAT EXPERIENCE RAFTING WITH KRE!! Ditch the crowds at Kern & come here!! The crew was well organized, communicative & fun. Carly was our guide, and she did a great job with a boat full of beginners. Very impressed with the bus transportation, photography, and even the bbq lunch. Bonus - you may camp onsite for free before/after your raft tour, just stay on the perimeter of the property & pack all your trash out. There are many shaded places around the property. Will 100% come back for future seasons!

THE ABSOLUTE WORST RAFTING COMPANY IN THE STATE of California! Super UNSAFE in a multitude of ways. Staff is awful. There is bad stuff going on after hours between the leadership on site and the staff members in keeping pecking order and favorites which bleeds into the actual running of things day & day out. Food isn't kept at proper temperatures & stored properly. The road trip up and down in the bus is just unbelievably allowed to be used despite its requiring people to get all on one side of the bus to keep the bus from tilting in a bad way to get to the need places. I lost my ACL due to being rushed to hurry while disbarking with the many seasons with this company bus driver who lives in his van year around at the ski company up in Mammoth and at this lame place. The couple who managed this location the woman is dark energy big time. Like really yucky fake while piercing looking at people like she has a bug she is killing and power tripping to the max. The worst experience I have ever had in my life was my five days with this staff at their Miramonte, CA location on the Kings River. Be Warned!!! read more

Whitewater rafting tour operator that offers 1, 2, and 3 day trips. Booked the 2 day tour for my dad's birthday online in advance, and it was $350/person. You have the option to rent a tent (includes a sleeping pad) or bringing your own gear/car camping. They have RV toilets (the Driftwood Chateau) and no showers. It was my first time sleeping outdoors in a tent, and I must say that the sound of the river was very soothing. There haven't been any bear or mountain lion sightings but there are apparently a lot of skunks. No wifi so it's a good time to unplug. There's cornhole, a sand volleyball court, and ping pong table. The rafting trips were so much fun. Joseph was our guide both days (shoutout to Boat 15) and he was amazing. He confidently led us through the waters and made sure everyone was safe doing so. Wetsuits are Farmer John-style and mandatory. There are paddle jackets, helmets, and booties available to borrow. It's Class 3 rapids and young kids were on the rafts (with their parents). Everyone else was super friendly and worked hard to make our trip enjoyable. Saki was the director and was very helpful. The kitchen crew made solid meals and the groundskeeper kept everything clean and running smoothly. It really was a turnkey vacation where the only thing we needed to worry about was paddling and having fun. read more

We had a company trip this past weekend of about 30 people. The check in was smooth, they had water and lemonade available when we arrived as well as snacks. We then had a chicken fajita lunch which was good. After that about a 45 minute bus ride to the river. The rapids were super fun and the guides were great. We had a stop in the middle to swim or explore the river area. After the rafting we had happy hour with snacks. Everyone enjoyed the trip and want to make it an annual event for the company. read more

If we could give more than 5 stars we would! We did a whitewater day trip for our 40th anniversary. We are avid kayakers and pontooners. We have spent our time on rivers alol over the NW! Our guide, Hoffa was amazing! he definitely knows how to read his customers comfort zones on the river and pushes it throughout the trip making it one of our best experiences on a river! The crew, the owner, the camp, everyone involved were friendly and so inclusive!! would highly recommend King's River Expeditions to beginners all the way to advanced rafters! they absolutely made our 40th anniversary memorable and unforgettable!! our best advice is to just book it!!! an experience that won't soon be forgotten read more

Just finished the 2 day trip with a few friends, highly recommend this spot. The river was awesome, the staff were funny and energetic. The food was good and the beer was cold! They worked with me even though I had some late/last minute cancellations. Have to give this place a 5/5. read more

Overall, this was an amazing experience with KRE. The worst part is the drive in and out. Unfortunately, that's just how things are in order to get to the river. If you follow the directions on their website, you will be okay. Watch out for cows on the road as they are all over the place. We bought the Groupons for $99 and we had some scheduling/reservation mixups so we ended up with an extra Groupon. The owner was kind enough to let us use the extra Groupon's value toward rental gear and souvenir items, which I thought was very generous of them. Keep in mind that it is 6 people and your river guide in a boat, so plan accordingly if you don't want to paddle with strangers. Overall, most people I felt were pretty social and friendly and it was a good crowd all-around. After taking care of registration, listening to the safety demonstration, consuming an average chicken fajita lunch, and picking up our rental gear, we boarded a bus to head up the river. It's a good 50-min slow ride up the mountain with no AC and possibly three people to a seat, so it's the second worst part of the trip, but well-worth it, of course. Once we got upstream, we met our guide, Stephen, who was absolutely fantastic. He was knowledgeable, experienced, and super fun to spend the next 3 hours with. We were the "boat of the day" and pretty much hit all the targets as needed. No one fell out of our raft, so we just started pushing people out to create more excitement. After we got back to the camp, there was beer and dinner, followed by a review of photos and video captured throughout the day. We bought both sets of digital media. KRE comes highly recommended by me. read more

I have gone rafting with KRE twice now. Both experiences were terrific. The first time we bought a groupon and went with a small group. Lunch and dinner was included. Dinner came with beer and soda. It was a great time. The people are very friendly and really enjoy rafting themselves. The weather was fantastic. We wore swimsuits and were very warm. The second time I went with a very large group of people. It was very cold. We rented wet suits and wore special shoes. It was middle of May and the water level was very high. It was almost unbearably cold for me. But the experience is still so fun. Both times I have gone I had a great leader who made the entire trip exciting. You can jump out of the raft at certain places and swim. They show you how to properly paddle and how to sit and tuck your feet into the raft. Overall, I really enjoyed my trips with this company and will definitely be returning. read more

This was my first time River Rafting and it was LIT!! I've done skydiving but this was the best, fun, thrill adventure yet!! River Rafting was far better!! I loved it!! Camping was cool, lots of space! We were in the water for about 2 1/2HRS. King River was classified as a 3. We took off at around noon and unfortunately they said they wouldn't provide any pictures because the photographer only did evening photographs. BUMMER! I really wanted a cool HD picture of my group tackling the monster Rapids. Luckily some guy in another boat had his phone in a water proof bag tied around his neck and got some cool footage and pictures of us. If I would of known, I would of taken my phone with me too. A lot of people did that. Either way, best experience ever!!!!!! read more

Super fun. My family and I were scared as this was our first time. Getting there made me a bit anxious because I wasn't sure if I was going the right way. I had to cross one small bridge. There were cows roaming around freely and it was fun watching them while getting there! Got there. It was cold. We didn't bring towels so it was cold after. We were given orientation about terms they used for instructions, in case we fall out, etc. it was super easy. We were given burgers and chips. Then we got suited up (it's worth the money to rent a wet suit!). Our instructor was amazing! He was really helpful and made it super easy. I believe his name was Steve. Super nice and made it fun for my family. Rafting wasn't like riding a mini coaster (thank god!). Got back. We took our suits off and returned all their equipment. They provided hot chocolate and some snacks. We bought our pictures for $40. Well probably come back! Highly recommend! read more
Impressive. The owners are a married couple named Jeb and Julia who fell in love as white water tour guides 40yrs ago and leased the camp from the US Forest Service. Over the last 40yrs their commitment and passion to provide folks with an awesome white water rafting experience, a clean camp right on the river and damn good food is simply amazing. Our guide / friend for the weekend was a 20yr veteran named Jonny. The man is skilled and hilarious. Jackson, Naomi, Ashley, and the AV dude all get a shout out too. These guys are professional, efficient and good people. We will be back. Kings Canyon Expeditions should be on everyone's bucket list. read more

I went for my first white water rafting trip on 6-29-23- and what a great experience! I was apprehensive and a bit afraid but after the extensive safety that was reviewed and with the practice completed prior to going into the river I felt completely at ease all during the trip. The water was cold but very exhilarating! The entire day was amazing from the food, snacks and then dinner along with the rafting made for an awesome day. I would highly recommend this trip. Guide Casey was the best but all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Loved the photos taken as well, definitely will go again! read more
Ok - Yay I'm a fan but not of the horrible facilities. The showers were broken and the toilets were not well ventilated, not to mention that the lights were broken so you had to bring a flash light w/ you at night. -- But, this all is nothing for true campers. Me, I'm a city rat so I don't deal well w/ nature. That being said, this was my first rafting trip and I hope it won't be my last. It was incredibly cold but tons of fun. I actually wish that I had gone the 2nd day but the 1st day out just took it's toll. The people are great - very easy going and friendly. The most important thing to bring to the trip though is a good attitude and alcohol. The cost includes meals which really aren't very impressive. My favorite was the steak -- very yummy for camp food but warm to slightly cold by the time everyone gets it, and sammies for lunch. read more

My youngest son and I decided to go on a whitewater adventure. This was a first for both of us and it was amazing!!! The cost of the trip includes some meals and snacks as well as camping!! We set up camp right next to the river. It was awesome sleeping with the sounds of the river just feet away! The bus ride up the mountain to the location where we got on the boats was almost as exciting as the rapids...if you have a fear of heights, don't sit by the window on the right side of the bus! Once we got to the boats, safety was reviewed and each guide talked to their boat about the commands they used. Then we were off!!! The rapids were great and perfect for us first-timers!!! The guides were amazing, super informative and entertaining!! Sometimes it's difficult getting much excitement out of my 16 year old son...not on this trip!! He even gladly took photos!! It was a great bonding time, a lot of fun and we are both anxious to return!! We loved every minute of it, it was worth every penny!! read more

They say the river is the best it's been since 2011, so get out there now for a rafting trip--it's so much fun! The actual rafting portion of the trip is about 2.5-3 hours long, and there are rapids every ~10 minutes, so it's quite exciting and goes by very quickly! Here's what I recommend you wear (some items may only be applicable if you go in the early season like we did): - Swimsuit - Athletic (i.e., non-cotton) long sleeve shirt - Windbreaker or rain jacket (you can rent one for $7) - Wetsuit (you can rent one for $7) - Wool socks and sneakers (you can rent water booties for $3) - Hat and/or sunglasses (they provide string to attach them to your life jacket so they don't fall off into the water, but you may want to wear your least favorite pair just in case) - Waterproof sunscreen - Don't wear any jewelry, especially rings, since they will likely fall off Other things to remember: - Take a GoPro or waterproof camera so you can take your own photos and videos - Pack an extra set of clothes (don't forget shoes!) to change into when you get back - Towel to dry off - No cash tips accepted, so you'll only need cash if you plan on renting a wetsuit, etc. read more

Hands down one of the best trips ever! (And I've been on lots!). We did the two day rafting - and had so much fun! The staff are very personable, funny, kind, and just a great group of people to socialize with! They make you feel right at home. Beautiful views with the creek running right along the campsite, which was clean and well-maintained. The staff prepares all the meals and they were very tasty! Our river guides were awesome! We had Carly the first trip down - she was a young, bubbly, sweet, and really knew her way around the river. Felt very safe with her. Shared some great laughs too! The second day we had Kasey, who was one of the veteran guides. Awesome time with her as well! She navigates the river like a champ! Savannah (the rookie) was great too! Everyone there gets an A+ in my book (Johnny, Gary, Trevor...you all know who you are!). My only qualm is that the ice cream was served a bit too soon after dinner instead of at 8pm as specified on the itinerary LOL!!!! I WILL DEFINITELY BE COMING BACK HERE! You guys are awesome! PS - Carly this is for you: TRUNK PANTS!!!!!! read more

Kings River Expeditions far exceeded my expectations which were high to start with! I have this group of lifelong friends and this year we celebrate our 50th birthday. We knew we wanted to do something fun and a bit out of the ordinary. I thought white water rafting would be fun and my mates agreed. I set up the trip which was super easy to do on the website. The rafting was nothing short of life changing and that had a lot to do with our guide, George. He was like the river whisperer! The river was flowing at levels not seen in decades due to the extraordinary snowpack in the Sierras this year. It was phenomenal! If you are even beginning to think about considering a trip with KRE, I urge you to do yourself a favor and make it happen. You will not be disappointed! The staff, especially Julia, Casey and Jeb were friendly, professional and very safety minded. I have a family, so safety was super important (especially to my wife!) and KRE took every measure to ensure we suffered nothing more than our cheeks hurting from smiling so much down the nine mile adventure! read more

I just got back from a two day rafting trip with a group of my friends. From the get go, KRE did a great job of not only making us feel welcome but making us feel safe as well. These guys are consummate professionals from the main camp setup to the friendliness of staff to the quality of equipment, everything was top notch. Our guide, George, was awesome and we were lucky enough to have him guide us on both days on our trips down the river. His knowledge, professionalism, and friendliness made our trip especially memorable. I would highly suggest a two day trip because the river was SOOOOOO different the next day. It was like rafting two completely different runs. If you are looking for a great adventure with friends, you can't do much better than KRE. We will definitely be back. read more

My friends and I chose the 2 day river experience with KRE to celebrate our 50th bdays. Since the recent rains combined with the heat resulting in a higher water level & faster currents I admit I was a little concerned about safety. That all changed as the expert staff puts our concerns to rest. Professional, friendly, and they operate with the highest integrity of any team I've witnessed as an organization especially our guide George. A family experience as the other boats had small children and they were taken care of which made it an enjoyable & thrilling experience. Highly recommended, especially the 2 day since each ride down the river will be a totally different but exciting adrenaline rush experience. Camping, food, & drinks all provided which was great!! read more

Julie Butchert started guiding on the river in 1991 and Justin and Julie married in 1995 and have been running the business together since then.
Meet the Business Owner: Casey C.
After working as guides for KRE for 13 years, my wife Veronica and I were given the opportunity to continue the 50+ year legacy of fun in the sun and become owners of Kings River Expeditions. We jumped at the opportunity as this place has become a second home to us. Today we strive to meet the same service standards set by Justin and Julie B. over the past 45 years: fun, safe, and memorable white water rafting experiences the whole family can enjoy. It is our dream to continue stewardship of the Kings River and watch our three boys grow up here until they are ready to take on the role. If you have never rafted the Kings River, get some friends together and come join us! We'd love to see you on the river and promise a safe, exciting and memorable adventure!
Ask the Community - Kings River Expeditions
We absolutely love this company! Now that we have kiddos who want to raft with us, we'd like for them to wear helmets. Are helmets provided? Thanks!
Yes they provide helmets. Can also rent wetsuits & foot booties if needed or paddle jacket which mainly protects you from sun (skin works great). They only charge $5 to rent
How is the current water level? Any current concerns or drastic changes on the river? Is the water high enough to go through some great fun spots? Look forward to some trips.

A friend organized the event. It was about $200+ for us to camp two nights and raft one day. Our instructor was Casey and is phenomenal! Not only were we safe the entire (7) challenges, but at appropriate times, we were able to do tricks and show off to the rest of our group. The food was DELICIOUS. It was a total bummer that TWO of our thirteen boats capsized on a rock, thus delaying our entire group. Fortunately, the instructors are goofy and helped us make light of the situation. Oh and I forgot, they took AMAZE BALLZ pictures and video. I'm pleased that we were able to work on our cheers during the course of the rafting video. Yup, I'm a screamer. read more

KRE is a fantastic river rafting company and deserves more than 5 stars. They are well organized and have enthusiastic and friendly guides. They feed you and have everything ready for you, including tents for overnight trips. I really want to give a shout out to our guide Wyatt, not only a great guide but just an all around great guy. At the end of the trip our group felt like we'd made a real friend. He really made our river rafting experience super epic and fun. Thanks Wyatt!! read more

Wow! We had a fantastic adventure with KRE! We took our kids for their first time and they couldn't have enjoyed it more. Our guide, Trevor, was super sweet and was really patient with our kids. Our 7-year old daughter was a little frightened but after her first exciting rapid she was hooked! All of the staff are really professional and organized. They fixed us great meals and took some cool videos and pictures. We will definitely be going back! read more
