It's a small RV park with a mixture of people camping in RV's, tents and full-time residents. We stayed in spot 15 which is a full hookup site. The site was nice with gravel, a concrete pad with picnic table and a fire pit. We ended up only going to Sequoia for one day. We were kinda worried what we would do for the remainder of our visit and actually thought about going home early. We changed our minds once we decided to take advantage of the water access from the property's beach. We inflated our river tubes and floated the rest of the days away. My wife and 10 year old son decided to take a whitewater rafting trip offered on the property by Sequoia Adventures and loved it. We ended up making some great memories while we were there and we'd definitely stay there again. I don't think we'll ever visit Sequoia again, but we would head up that way for the whitewater rafting and to float in their pool of river water. There are also a couple of camp kitties that live in the campground. One in particular would come visit us and sleep on our chairs. Fluffy's visits were throughly enjoyed by many people in the campground and not just us. I didn't use the campground bathrooms or showers, but I saw the being cleaned every morning and included them in my photos in case anyone can find them helpful.

sequioa national park in the spring time is so beautiful! lodgepole campsite was great w/ other…read morecampers at next door campsites and attentive rangers. the trailhead for tokopah falls is a 2 min walk away from the middle of the camp grounds. site 76: one "block" away from the river but close to the main road. only single parking spot right in front per campsite so the 2nd car parked a little farther away. bear box was right next to the picnic table w/ enough space for 6 ppl's worth of food, cooking gear and all toiletries. trash cans and bathrooms are within short reasonable walking distance. closest spicket was across the street but we washed out dishes at a sink in front of the bathroom. *research and prep well for bear safety including storing ALL proper items in the bear bins before booking a campsite! *bring a lantern into the bathroom b/c there's no lights in there! *end of may was 35 deg at night so super cold so definitely bring enough cloths and layers to sleep in!! day time in the sun is quite warm and nice

Not too many bugs. Everywhere you looked it was beautiful. There's lots of campsites nearby but not too close. Our campsite was 202, right behind the large rock and pretty close to the river. It was nice hearing the rush of water throughout the day. The bathroom was close enough except for during the the night. Knowing that bears are in the area made it really scary going in the middle of the night. Wear a headlamp, it's much better than a flashlight. The shuttle will come inside the campgrounds and pick you up near the restrooms in the main parking lot. There are a few trails for hiking (which we didn't have time to do). I do recommend if traveling with another family to work out the food situation because there's only one bear box per site. One large cooler can fir or two smaller ones. One large and one small cooler will not fit in the box. ALL food, snack, even perfume, & body spry should be put into the bear box.

It was superbly quiet! Steve the camp host was awesome and so accommodating. Bathrooms were in tip top shape. No running water in bathrooms, but a spigot available outside. Lots of beautiful sites available, ours backed up right into the creek and we only had a campsite on one of side of us so it was pretty private. We were able to take our chairs and plop them right into the creek and hang out there for quite a while. A nice little nature walk is available nearby through the meadow, and at night you can head out there and the view of the stars is unreal. The only thing you may want to consider (depending on what you'd like to do there) is that its probably an hour drive to get into Sequoia national park. So if you're interested in doing that, be aware you'll have to get back down the mountain to go back up on the other side.

Thursday was by far the best day as far as amount of people in the park and entry times/popular spots. That being said. It really didn't feel over crowded. I would definitely come back this time of year again. Also the weather app said it would be cold! 50-60's the whole time. It was only that temp Sunday. And when you're hiking you're warm. It was near perfect weather. For anyone researching when to come we would like to come in spring after the snow melt so that the waterfalls would be a bit bigger and maybe things aren't so dried out after hot summer. This was a magical experience felt like we landed on another planet and were walking in avatar world. The trees are magical. Great trails. The food at the lodges was surprisingly good and decently priced. (We shared a pizza). Same prices as things outside the park. No real price gouging. We got to see most everything in 3 days both parks. If you want to do every trail in the park and you won't be exhausted you could easily spend 5 days. For the main attractions 3 days was perfect. The only "negative" thing was the staff at Wuksachi Lodge. We were considering staying there but glad we didn't. We also saw another lodge and looked old and run down. We got Airbnb in 3 rivers and happy we did. Defiantly will come back again!

I can honestly say that six years later, my perspective completely changed. The first time we went, I was with my young boys and they did not enjoy the long hike. The Park Ranger had given us a suggestion to go through trails that were too difficult for our family. This time, we parked at the Giant Forest Museum and followed the trail to the Big Trees Trail. This trail is 1 km long and the trail circles the Round Meadow. It was amazing! This was exactly the type of trail would have loved in 2020. This time, I brought my aunt with me and we did our research to ensure we embarked on a trail that was easy for everybody. The Big Trees Trail is exactly that! There were people on wheelchairs, young children, and families. There are plenty of large sequoias for amazing pictures, fallen over trees that children can walk through like a tunnel, and there was even a tree trunk with a smooth interior, and children were using it as a slide. Big rocks were sprinkled throughout the trail, and kids and adults were climbing on them and taking amazing pictures. It took about one hour to get through this trail, and it was breathtaking. After that, we drove to the General Sherman Tree parking lot and walked to see it. One thing I would change for our next visit: purchase pass online to save some time at the gate.

However, Horse Creek was a good introduction to the camping world. At $20 a night, you get your own campsite that can fit up to 8-10 people. We were able to fit about 4 tents. The ground was flat enough to set up camp, and the grounds to eat and chill were spacious enough. As for the bathrooms, the showers are fairly clean and the toilets aren't too shabby either. It seemed like they were cleaned on a daily basis. As for entertainment, the campsite is right near the lake so every morning I woke up to the beautiful sight of nature - the sunset was pretty as well. The lake wasn't too dirty, although I would recommend water shoes. Also, the main office has friendly staff to answer any questions. Ultimately, if you want a campground that's at the bottom of the mountain (it's only 10-12 miles away from the entrance of the Sequoia National Park) that's clean and family-friendly, this place is extremely solid. I highly recommend it.

Definitely not the worst I've seen, not even close. The showers and stalls were kept clean and stocked. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The first cabin we were in had an older AC unit and it was having trouble cooling off the rooms. It was very hot day in July, 115! We mentioned the problem and they were able to move us to a different cabin with an updated unit. Previous reviews mention loose dogs and vagrants roaming the campsite. We saw none of that. It's not a locked down facility. We put away anything we didn't want to go missing over night, but I think it would have been OK regardless. There were a few stray cats and one had a litter. Our boys named her Joe. I bet they're great at keeping the rodents away. We did see (and squish) a few cockroaches, but, it's a campsite and I'm sure not all campers are as diligent about putting their food away as others might be. Overall a great stay!
