I've hear stories about the bathrooms being unkempt, dark and creepy. Even swamp like. So you may need to figure that out. Other than that it's a nice place for fishing, swimming and enjoying a day in nature.

Its noticeable that a large majority that take park over early on are inconsiderate of nature and could care less if they trash the place. Then there's people who go through the trash cans dumping everything out? Looking for recycles....which is fine, but dont leave the trash on tbe ground...put it back. Low lifes do crap like that. Anyway, the 2nd visit everything got super real as we nearly drowned farther down. I thought I had it under control but when you no longer see rocks, its time to back up before the current pushes you to where you can no longer stand ground. We were swept away about 1/4 mile swimming against the current. Honestly. I believe our crocs helped keep us from becoming too tired. Finally I was able to pull and push my daughter from the left of me around to the right bank where I told her to grab onto branches from a tree submerged in the water. I thought I was a gonner after she had been hanging on me and I was quickly losing my stamina. I was lucky enough to catch branches a few yards down and we both made it. It was traumatizing to say the least and im so thankful we didnt experoence the undertow Ive heard so much about. As traumatizing as it was, I plan on returning, but staying only where river rocks are visible to tbe nakedness eye. Beware going too far be ause it gets deep real fast. Besides that incident, we had a fun time. Be ssfe.

Cars are driven up to the water even though signs say not to. The county needs to clean up their bathrooms because they are very dirty. Half the people just drive in and don't pay the car fee. Squaw Leap…read more When the Squaw tribal people found out the European immigrants were coming closer to their territory, many of them " leaped " off those cliffs and committed suicide because they didn't want to be captured and enslaved as that was the case for many other tribes. Hence , the name " Squaw Leap ". From the agricultural town of Fresno to the trail head is only about a 40- minute drive . You drive through a small town of Prather and Auberry , take Powerhouse Rd, Smally Rd and you'll reach the parking lots. As of May 22, 2021, the visitor center was closed , the Nuckhahee learning center was also closed but the Ya Gub Weh Tuh campground was opened, the trails were opened and the Indian Village was also opened. Aholul group campground also opened. Hiking : 1. You can hike to the bridge. It's a very easy short hike, but when you get to the bridge , you are rewarded with beautiful views of the San Joaquin River Gorge. A nice spot to eat lunch. Some folks fishing down below by the water. 2. You can hike the Pa'san Ridge Loop Trail. It's uphills and I'd rate it moderate. 7.9 mile , 1,538 ft elevation gain. Loop. (AllTrails.com) 3. You can hike the Wuh-Ki'o trail. I can't tell you because I've never done this one. 8.0 mile, 1,354 ft elevation gain. Out-back. (According to AllTrails.com ) It gets pretty hot here during summer months. Avoid doing this hike in the summer. Today was unusually cool for this time of the year in this area. All of the parking lots were full , tons of cyclists, trail runners, hikers. Pretty busy place.

They also served traditional Honey Mead & Ales. Great times for the whole family. Parking was $5 and entry admission fees varied from free to $18 (you'll have to go on the website to see those prices). Had a great time and will definitely be back next time.

It was my first time here for a picnic with my girlfriends and I love how big this park is. It has lots of big matured trees that provides plenty of shade. Lots of open space for big gatherings and people to have events. They also have a frisbee course on the park as well. There are people who were enter the sport and were playing there, very cool to see. It's great that Woodward park isn't the only one that has a frisbees course. Kearney park also have many open sheltered structure, I'm not sure sure if you need to contact the park to rent it out for the day. They have public restrooms at the park as well within parking distance. There is also a historic mansion inside the park that you can check out. They do have a enter the park fee that's $5. Not too bad at all! Just an overall nice park, and I would definitely like to come back.

Where : this place is tricky to find but it's behind the Clovis fire department Station 3 at the…read morecorner of Minewawa and Villa but, Villa ( if you are going from south ) it turns to Minewawa so instead of keep going , if you see the fire department, turn right immediately and the parking lot will be on your right. It's easy to miss since it's a very small parking lot ( enough for 5 - 6 cars). There's a potter potty there and a picnic table and some signage. You can park your car here and take the Dry Creek Trail to Cottonwood Park which is only 1/2 mile , or go a little further and hit Dry Creek Park and the Clovis Botanical Garden or , all the way to the other trailhead which is the metal horse statue (Sunnyside and Shepherd). There are mile markers along the trail so you know how far you walked from the trailhead. Nicely paved trail good for strollers too. Good walking and running trail.

I don't believe overnight camping is allowed, but you can book one of their grilling and table areas for your party. The lake itself is small and only allows "earth boats" on the water. I have no idea what an earth boat is, maybe it's just a hollowed out log? There is a "beach" area for swimming and suntanning, but the water sadly had a lot of trash in it and wasn't very inviting, even with the 100'+ temps during our visit. This lake/park area has two jungle gym play areas for the kiddos and a few older soccer goals with no nets. The cost is only $5 to enter and $40 for an annual pass. Currently, they're open until 10pm for the summer, but close at 7pm starting on October 1st for the winter season.

Anywho, the dude and I come here before the Pandemic and I can tell you that traffic definitely increased when the pandemic occurred as we would not see many people. Anywho, the first time I came to this park which is just across the street from our living quarters. The first time Clovis PD was there removing the homeless camps. Behind Letterman park there is a beautiful canal that has a princess path to get to it and this is where we saw duck couples and followed the same duck couple until they had babies of their own and started to feed their family. The park has a skate park attached to it, grassy areas, play structures and seating. Over the 5 or 6 months we have been frequenting this park we have seen which the pandemic came through and they had to shut down the park by putting caution tap all around. We seen people camp out here, do exercise classes and homeless roaming which he didn't see a lot of that before the pandemic. We walk out there all hours of the day and night. We bring flash lights as it gets pretty dark. We have met a lot of amazing people like a woman for the past 17 years will come out and feed abandoned domestic cats which there are about 10 of them. A really cool homeless dude that gives us updates on our duck babies and action going on. Teens out late probably up to no good. Met a father of three who was a cool dude who was laid off due the pandemic and his kiddos were so adorable! We see Clovis PD in back of the park all the time! So this park gets A LOT of action. However since it's so close we come here A LOT and will continue to do pandemic or not!

A great green grassy area was there with huge trees for shade that was great to run around in and little stands to watch the skateboarders although we just climbed up and down them. Overall I would come back, we stayed on our end of the park as the other seemed to have some homeless people at the picnic benches, they seemed harmless, but I don't want to risk anything happening so we stayed on our end. There was a trail too along the canal there with a fence which was nice as you don't want the kids to run into it or fall in.
