The park also have a climbing area and musical play area. Over time, i notice the 'Little Free Library' nook is there. It is full of all ages book. I love these little gems. It's so lovely to have these exchange things around this side of the town. Their is a cute little creek next to the park and trail. I just love how you can hear the water runs next to the park. It's a perfect place to sit, relax, and listen to the water flowing down. While watching kids playing on the jungle gym, people running/ biking or using the free accessible work out stations. The only CONS is that during certain time of the year, the ducks from the water basin next to the park will fly over and poop everywhere.

Where : this place is tricky to find but it's behind the Clovis fire department Station 3 at the…read morecorner of Minewawa and Villa but, Villa ( if you are going from south ) it turns to Minewawa so instead of keep going , if you see the fire department, turn right immediately and the parking lot will be on your right. It's easy to miss since it's a very small parking lot ( enough for 5 - 6 cars). There's a potter potty there and a picnic table and some signage. You can park your car here and take the Dry Creek Trail to Cottonwood Park which is only 1/2 mile , or go a little further and hit Dry Creek Park and the Clovis Botanical Garden or , all the way to the other trailhead which is the metal horse statue (Sunnyside and Shepherd). There are mile markers along the trail so you know how far you walked from the trailhead. Nicely paved trail good for strollers too. Good walking and running trail.

We didn't do good at all over here. We only caught one catfish. But for us just to get away we had a nice time again. I was able to let my husband fish and I sat back and read a book. But there was one part of this state park that I was able to see a few young fawns. And he or she was so beautiful. I dared not to get closer for a fear of seeing the doe somewhere close. I wish the state of California would get it together we have state parks that need to be cleaned. Just dead trees everywhere that needs to be cleaned up.

There's a small amphitheater, where I guess bands or speakers can set up for entertainment purposes. The bathrooms are very clean and the park itself is very well maintained. There are even lemon trees planted around the grounds that in the past have produced fruit! I hiked Pincushion on New Year's Day. I start the hike at the Finegold recreation area, I recently…read morelearned this is the true trail head. It's about 3 miles round trip. It's not too hard, I would rate it moderate, but you should be in decent shape to attempt this hike. It is all uphill, it's moderate uphill. The last section right before you get to the peak is more of an intense uphill climb. The intense part doesn't last too long though. This hike offers beautiful views of the lake and Table mountains. Hiking the peak can be a bit tricky. Rocks are slippery, so wear good shoes with grip and ankle protection. This hike is unbearable in the summer, it's too hot. Winter months and early spring are my fave times to hike it. Parking is free if you park along the road. If you park in the parking lot day use area, I think it's $5. There is a public restroom, sometimes it's closed and a portopotty is available.
