I signed up my two children (15 and 10) for surf lesson with Big Surf a couple of weeks ago. This was their very first surf lesson ever. We got Samantha for our instructor. She was THE BEST! She explained all the techniques on dry land first, introduced them to surfing in the calmer and less crowded part of the beach and then when they were ready, she took them to the bigger waves. My kids are both very different personality. One being more energetic and other a little more cautious. Sam adjusted her lesson to them perfectly. She was super patient and encouraged and applauded their achievement each time. She was very attentive to both of them and worked hard to give the kids the best experience. We were so lucky to have Sam as our instructor and the wonderful first time surfing experience! My Kids loved it and it was their highlight from our California trip. My friend had taken a surfing lesson a couple years ago and ever since then has wanted to share the experience with me. We finally met up on the peninsula and we booked with Big Surf. Zane was very communicative and responded quickly to questions we had. Meeting up at the beach was very easy. We got suited up with the other half of our group lesson and met with our instructors Taylor and Sam. They were wonderful! We went to the beach and had a conversation about the surf board, safety, and what we were expecting/nervous about as new surfers. Our instructors were incredibly patient and also brought a lot of fun energy to the group. Just returned from a 2 hour lesson I got for my 13 year old visiting granddaughter. She's never surfed and I was concerned it would be a bit much for her, but Abraham did a fantastic job of reassuring her and gave superb instructions on the beach before entering the water. He even was kind enough to offer me his beach chair so I could watch the lesson from Carmel Beach. Grace was his assistant and also was super. Our granddaughter is somewhat shy but she came in one time and said she was "amped" so I think that's good. It was a full two hour lesson and by the end of the time she was riding waves into the shore. We went for a Myo frozen yogurt Afterwards at the Crossroads Center. A perfect day. Earlier this week my family and I were in Pacific Grove visiting my mom. By chance, we met Zane of Big Surf Adventures at Asilomar beach and signed up for surf lessons. Zane was incredible. He is extremely knowledgeable, patient and personable, which makes for a great combination. My wife, who had never surfed before, stood up on her first wave and rode it to shore! Our 14 year old son liked it so much that he took 2 lessons in 2 days. The equipment was top notch. The boards were great for surfers of all levels. The wet suits were warm and kept the Pacific chill at bay. Overall it was a magical experience. Highly recommended! John read more

Seriously had a fantastic lesson / session in the waves with Zane and Big Surf Adventures! It's been a long time since I've surfed and was ready to get back out there. Zane is both awesome surfer and excellent teacher. Like a friend but also professional and community driven, he definitely puts safety 1st. I always felt totally at ease. Rather than take me in wave heights that might have worked me a bit, he checked the forecast & wave reports. We paddled out just a few days later & it was perfect. We booked a session for my nephew. Things did not work out at the last minute. So I decided to take his place. I am 58 years old and did not think I was apt to learn surfing at such an age. Abraham took me out. Dylan, an instructor-in-training was also there. Abraham was great: knowlegeable, kept me calm and relax to roll with the waves. Both were the greatest people ever. I did not expect such a wonderful and memorable experience. As at this writing, I can still sense the great time that I had surfing. I would absolutely recommend Abraham and Dylan at Big Surf. These guys were AWESOME!!!! I took my 9 year old grandson visiting from Texas. He's dreamed of surfing. He was up on the board first wave!! Kelley, Kelly and Abraham were ALL great instructors and helped my grandson. Kelley was his main instructor and she was so patient, kind and really taught him so much before getting on the water. The whole experience was completely safe and a fabulous experience!!! Money well spent!!! Going to let him go again next week!! I can't say enough about how awesome they are!! Call them! My daughter turned 13 and er celebrated by trying surfing for The first time - three teens and me at 50. Abraham was fantastic The whole way. He was freindly, fun and efficient. Gave us maksimum time on The water - encouraging us to catch as many waveS as we could. My mom, sister and I got surf lessons from Abraham and let me tell you the fun we had! Abraham had us covered he was great at shooting strait to the point and making sure we understood what he was teaching us. He kept it simp and didn't complicate it at all and before we new it we where Surfing! he also had a great sense of humor that really tied everything up, but all in all would definitely recommend you go with Big Surf Adventure if your learning to surf. read more

Abraham was amazing with my 10 yo and 13 yo sons, complete beginners from Chicago who had never even seen the ocean, let alone a surfboard, before. In the 2 hour session, Abraham first prepped them on the beach for what to expect in the surf and then worked with them patiently to build their confidence and ultimately got them up on the boards, riding some waves. Yesterday I had my first ever surf lesson in the ocean (Asilomar State Beach) and it was incredibly fun! Abraham explained everything I needed to know to ride the waves safely and he made my experience super positive! Myself and a friend just moved out to the area and both wanted to learn how to surf. After one group session with Abraham he had us both standing up on waves! We had never been surfing before and were pretty nervous but he explained everything sosimply and made us feel so comfortable going into the water-he even had fancy chairs and mats for us to put our wetsuits on with- such a 5 star experience!
