Stephanie was our pilot for our San Francisco photography tour out of Hayward airport and she was super laid back but very professional! She really made the experience so fun and not so terrifying for our first time in a helicopter! We did doors off for a 6pm flight in early April, and we got so many incredible photos! She pointed out areas of city and even offered to circle around some spots so we could get more pictures! The price is 1000% worth it! I could use more exclamation points, that's how great it was!

Jacob is a phenomenal flight instructor. He made us feel comfortable and made all effort to make our flight memorable. Staff members are helpful and I would like to give a shout out to Andy, she was awesome and so kind and thoughtful .

Surprised my boyfriend with an airplane flight for his birthday. Our pilot was very informative and he made our flight a lot of fun! It was a cool experience to overlook the beach. I will definitely be coming back in the future!

Pilot Stephanie was fun, funny, knowledgeable, professional, and excellent in handling the aircraft and taking us in for closer looks when possible--even took us out to the Sunset district to spot a friend who was watching for us on his roof! Besides the simple value of seeing San Francisco close up from above, Stephanie added 100% to the experience. That said, the tour itself was fantastic. Recommended!

I bought one of the helicopter lessons as a gift for a friend and he absolutely loved it, he says Jacob was very friendly and helpful and he had lots of fun.

This was such an amazing experience all-around! I bought a helicopter flight as a gift for my husband. It was very easy to schedule, communication was great, and they made us feel welcome. The instructor, Jacob, was really professional not only in terms of flying the helicopter, but he explained everything perfectly. He also looked like he enjoys his job very much, which made it an even better experience. The office assistant was very nice and took care of me while my husband was flying. My husband was extatic and couldn't stop talking about his flight for hours that day :)

We were in Monterey for Thanksgiving weekend and while there we wanted to see if we could do a tour of the Monterey Bay down to the Bixby bridge in Big Sur. It was very last minute because we were leaving the next day and we didn't have any reservations, but Sierra was able to find us a pilot who could do the trip the same day. Very big thanks to Sierra and Mike who was our pilot. He was very kind and professional. He gave us the smoothest flight and made sure that we got to see all the landmarks that we wanted to see. We couldn't have asked for a better trip and we will definitely be coming back for another trip. We highly recommend this company for anything flying related in the Monterey Bay area.

The phone agent Thiago I spoke to was very understanding and accommodating when I got stuck in weekend SF traffic. Thiago also went above and beyond to communicate with the pilot, who was willing to reschedule my flight to a better time. Shoutout to the pilot Sebastian for being a good sport and for conducting a splendid, safe aerial tour of San Francisco!

Extremely awesome SF Tour. Everyone was professional and polite. Made all the perfect accommodations for my proposal. She said yes!! and I couldn't be happier. Brendon was fantastic and calming of our nerves. A great and comfortable experience with amazing never before seen views. I couldn't have asked for it to be better. Thank you Specialized team. Super cool ride.

My wife got me the winery helicopter tour. While debating on timing, we have to say this experience was way more than what we expected. First of all, the Specialized Helicopter team was very patient in helping us plan and pick-up a date for our trip. It got confirmed at the airport, where the welcoming staff was super nice and explained the facilities and safety very patiently (BTW, great lounge to wait in). Then, Captain Chris took over and what a knowledgeable pilot but more importantly tour guide :) He described to us everything that was happening, what we were flying above, some historical facts about Santa Cruz, spotted few whales for us, etc... And what a nice way to arrive at the Eden Rift winery where everything was set-up for our wine degustation. Felt like being a rock star. The photos don't do justice to the experience. We have videos of the arrival, etc... It was epic! Will do it again and add it to the list of things for friends to do when in town. My wife and son have usually motion sickness but helicopters and the skills of Captain Chris made it for a super smooth ride that everyone enjoyed. One of the greatest gifts my wife surprised me with.

We did the helicopter tour over the Bay to Santa Cruz and back. Fantastic views of the bay and the shore line. Our pilot, Paul was knowledgeable of the area and provided a narrative of what we were seeing. Looking forward to taking the Big Sur tour and maybe the winery tour. Highly recommend!

    All smiles after our trip

Excellent business and people! We celebrated the 92nd birthday of a friend with a helicopter flight over our local area, Monterey Bay from Watsonville to Capitola. Competent and delightful Nick piloted the helicopter and made us feel safe, provided interesting information, including our speed and altitude and flew us over our homes. The trip exceeded expectations, the staff are intelligent and kind and concerned about safety. I would highly recommend this adventure.

Amazing people & amazing work. Its hard to find companies doing gender reveal through aeroplane or helicopter in the Bay area. We were fortunate to find them. They really helped us in capturing a great memories for the lifetime.

It took three weeks AFTER the promised start date to get me plane into their shop. During that time there was no communication from UFS. I came by 4 weeks later and the airplane was still opened up with the tank (for the sender unit to be replaced) in pretty bad shape (curled up). Terry said that's "normal". The finally finished my plane (had to give them an ultimatum) to do it. Noone was there to push my and out and lonely mechanic tried to help me... When I got to my destination, 45 minutes away, when putting her into my hangar, j noticed the bottom cowling "sort of loose", just hanging there?? Upon further inspection, I discovered that the whole right front AND the center bottom cowling hadn't been secured, screws just "hanging" there. I could have lost that cowling in flight, shearing off my landing gear or at least blocking it. I immediately texted/emailed Ashley about this and she responded "we'll look into it" and let you know. I demanded in a follow up email to find out about the mechanic that failed to secure my plane. Dead silence solar after several prompts by me to their phone number and their email. Moral of the story? Don't service your plane at United Flight Services, you might not survive the flight afterwards. I got lucky, not everyone will be if that shop doesn't institute a rigorous quality safety program Moving on, NEVER HFS ever again.

The next day over the phone, he decided it wasn't a flight review and I needed to repeat the flight with a "pass or fail" requirements!!!??? There were a lot of flight schools in the Bay Area to choose from. However, I promise you that you won't find a better place to train at than South County Aviation. Here are some reasons why: 1. Bailey is a great instructor. He develops personalized instruction that maximizes your flying time. He has adopted different technologies, such as using a GoPro to capture flight training for later review. He is very knowledgeable and friendly. Most importantly, he is a "calm" instructor. There are instructors out there that are ready to take over the controls the moment the student does something goes wrong. This is not Bailey. He uses cues to refocus your attention on what's wrong and how to correct it. He is very professional and easy to communicate which is so crucial when you're shoulder to shoulder with someone for so many hours. I know what we'll be working on in any given session and he gives comprehensive de-briefs that allow me to focus on new skills. Safety is always a prime area of focus of his. 2. The rental rates and instruction rates at SCA are great! There isn't a monthly membership fee unlike other FBOs at San Martin. This means that the business is able to support itself and the economics work without having to charge additional fees. Less fees means more air time for students, which is an important consideration. Also, there is always availability in the schedule for rentals and instruction. You can book without having to wait to find a slot! 3. The equipment at SCA is very well cared for. As of this review, SCA has upgraded N61610 with a brand new avionics panel and leather interiors. In N3912R, they have just refreshed the exterior paint. The dates for each system's required maintenance (transponder, ELT, VOR, annual, etc) are listed on a whiteboard in the hanger so you know that the planes are well cared for and maintained. You can truly feel the pride of ownership. It makes you feel confident knowing how well they care for their equipment. 4. The location of SCA is great. San Martin is a small un-towered field so you're not spending a lot of time waiting on air traffic control or other aircraft. You're only minutes away from the practice area but close to other, larger airspace. 5. This is a small, family run business and it is clear that they are supporting a passion. I've met a lot of the family and they are very friendly and welcoming. It is nice to support a local business that is just starting. I look forward to completing my instrument rating and continuing to rent at SCA!

This is a small flight school meaning you get treated like royalty and they don't nickel and dime you. Bailey knows his stuff and what's better is that he knows what's important and what's not so important so you don't get bogged down with useless information. Many flight instructors will give you the impression that landings, takeoffs, and various other flight techniques are like following a recipe from a cookbook -- follow the steps, don't deviate, and you'll generally be fine. Bailey will help you understand how to assess each situation and understand airplane dynamics so you can adjust your procedure to give the best possible outcome. I absolutely learned new things in the time I spent with Bailey and those are tips that I will take with me for the rest of my flying years. This is no nonsese flight instruction and I couldn't recommend it more.

After it closed near the middle of December 2020 a unique FBO passed. It was an FBO without membership or enrollment fees (so the student could spend their money all towards their training) and where the instructors were independent CFI's and not staff. To it's credit, Magnum would only take a cut of the rental of the aircraft from the leaseback owner and the independent CFI's kept their entire fee (paid directly to them by the flight student). Most of the time with staff flight instructors, the FBO takes a pretty sizeable cut of the fee that is charged for the flight instructor and paid by the student. What this would mean, of course, is that the student would be paying more per hour for the instructor's time. None of that at Magnum. A truly unique training resource has been lost - you won't find another like Magnum was. I still instruct out of San Martin Airport (I've been a Full-Time FAA Gold Seal Flight Instructor for nearly 15 years now and have given over 7,000 hours of instruction in that time), but Magnum Aviation was a very valuable and unique resource to leave our field, permanently and it will be greatly missed.
