    Goin upppppp on a Wednesday!
    Laurie V.

Who's afraid of heights? STILL ME! A girlfriend was jonesing to go skydiving for her birthday. And mentioned if I would go. Sure I'm scared of heights but, skydiving wasn't a "never" thing. (Bungee jumping on the other hand = HECK NO!) She got a Groupon from another friend and told me to look it up. Welp, that particular Groupon was going to expire that night in 4 hours so, I just said "eff it" and bought a Groupon. And I got to buy it at more of a discount because it was the last day. We set up a date and time and booked it through a 3rd party. Weeks go by, and tbh, I forgot about it. Then my friend goes, "you ready for tmw?" Me thinking, "huh? What's tmw?" THEN FREAKING THE EFF OUT -- oh yah, skydiving. lol TBH, it never sank in. Picked her up and drove the hour half to Mesquite =( I mean it wasn't a hard drive at all but, it was just early to be there for our 10am appointment. Got there. Saw the plane. THEN, it sank in. Like there was no turning back. There wasn't any class or videos to watch. Just consent forms to sign. Literally, signing our lives away lmfao Now that I think about it; we really didn't need to know anything specific because it was a tandem jump and all we needed to do was "smile." As instructed so, we'd look "cute" and not have our mouths flopping in the wind lol We put on our gear and boarded the plane. We were the only 2 tandem jumps. With a guy on his 4th jump trying to become a professional. And with 2 professional sky divers on board. Going up those 20 minutes had to be the most nerve racking for me because it just seemed like forever. Finally, the open the doors and the pro sky divers "walk" on the side of the plane and let go. Then the student. Then meeee. It was like riding a rollercoaster. But easier lmfao. After the initial jump out, I opened my eyes. My partner, Joe, did some tricks where we went round and round and round. And all I could do was scream and laugh AND SWEAR. Then we slowed down a little so, as he said, I could enjoy the view. Welp, this scared of height litto girl just wanted to get down. But, I knew I had to savor the moment -- and not forget to breathe! lmfao After seeing that we were over the golf course and airport, I realized I can almost touch the ground lol And then it was over. Saw my friend and hugged the hell out of her. She may have found a new hobby and I can say "I did that sh*t!" #GooooooMEEEEEEE It was fun. And faaasssst. I think it still hasn't hit me that I jump out of a plane -- and for fun :) haha

Sorry Kash, my name goes first because I'm in front and it's MY BIRTHDAY right! Aha, thanks again!

Alright, let's get this review started! My brother had asked me what I had wanted for my birthday and after a quick thought process, I said we should go skydiving as a bonding experience. He was beyond reluctant but I dragged him over to the dark side (we've got parachutes!). It took a few weeks, but SO WORTH IT. Our reservation was at 10a, and we started driving towards Mesquite a little after 8a (eta was 1hr30min). We made good time and we were a little wary of the stillness of the airfield, but as soon as you find the skydiving warehouse, all is good! It was an upbeat environment with other jumpers, other tandem guests, and people repacking their chutes. There's also a cute dog! It is quite warm, due to it being an open warehouse, but there's a giant AC unit you can stand beside if you can't handle it. My brother and I signed consent forms (understandably, you're going into this extreme sport on your own volition and thus, your own accountability) and went over media packages; video, stills/video, and 3rd POV. We had a few jumpers ahead of us so we waited about an hour (reasonably, I wouldn't want to be rushed if it was my turn) before our instructors started harnessing us and letting us know the process. We waited a little bit again, for the plane to return from its last jump. When we were about ready to start the walk to the plane, if you've purchased the video package, they'll start interviewing you to get some footage. My brother and I got into the small plane (a Cessna!) with our instructors Dallas and Kash, respectively. We're seated close to them so they can film us (we both had our own footage) periodically while we flew up to the right elevation. Time for the jump! My brother went out first, then I followed after. Guys. IT'S AMAZING. I'm actually prone to motion sickness quite easily, which I mentioned beforehand, so Kash actually took this into account and did a different jump technique than what my brother had done (they pretty much somersaulted out of the plane; LOOKED AWESOME). The immediate jump was rough for me (I hate that stomach in your throat feel), a few seconds of holding my breath (not a good idea; you should probably scream like on rollercoasters but I avoid rollercoasters so I wouldn't know), before the air resistance picks up and you're sort of floating with a hundred hairdryers pointed at you. (My brother's instructor did some spins at this point. Fortunately mine did not in fear of chucking my breakfast, THANK YOU KASH) Next comes the parachute opening, you're going to feel a big pull just as if you're running and someone grabs the back of your shirt so you comically and simultaneously stop and go backwards. Here they let you take off your goggles and enjoy the view. This is where they'll do some fun tricks if you're up for it, like spins and techniques I don't know the name of. Kash let me control the turns, since I had mentioned my motion sickness might be a control issue (I only get carsick as a passenger not a driver) but it definitely took some Hawkeye level arm strength! I'm teeny tiny, so he took back the controls, aha! Some of the turns were uncomfortable, but only because I'm a baby when it comes to nausea. Kash was a GREAT instructor, for realsies! His soft approach/technique was due to my sensitivity, which I appreciated BEYOND EVERYTHING. They are more than capable of doing more extreme techniques with you (as I witnessed watching my brothers gopro footage; I was SO HAPPY Kash didn't do that with me, LOL) just let them know, communicate what you're looking for and they're awesome at accommodating what you can handle. In conclusion, sure it was physically taxing on me at times, but I'd SO GO AGAIN, and preferably with Kash because I know he'll take care of me and won't go too crazy with the spins. If you're reading reviews because you're scared.. As Shia LaBeouf roared, JUST DO IT. At least you tried, you know? You can know, definitively, if skydiving is something you'd enjoy. You won't know until you try. Life is all about experiences; we go through it just figuring out what we like and what we don't. The only harm you do is if you stop yourself from finding out. TAKE THE JUMP. PS, They'll match Groupon prices upfront, so let them know if that's something you want to do. PPS, Thank you again, sincerely and with my utmost gratitude to Kash for being so understanding and capable with my jump. I wasn't scared of free falling or heights, but it was the plausible vomit I might have gotten all over you was my main concern. You're a forkin' trooper, Kash. Props, my man! From the blue haired tiny kitten who you carried ALL THE WAY TO THE PLANE, you HULK of a person! PPPS, Also, since you talked so fast, I was kind of confused whether your name was Joshua (name on your envelope) or Kash (name on gopro folder) but reading another review helped clear that up. Oh- KIT AND KASH!

I had bought a Groupon deal/steal that was at a great price for 2 people waaaaay back. And the deal was about to expire (May 28, 2017), so why not procrastinate and do it last minute, amirite? PS: if you're driving from Vegas, give yourself about a hour to an hour and 15 mins of drive time to make it to your appointment accordingly. My best friend and I came here May 6th to skydive around 12 noon but winds were so harsh that we had to re-schedule. Brad was super friendly and was happy to re-schedule us for a better day with less winds. We also got to hang and meet the skydivers and pilots who work for this company during this day. Such great people. Very nice and welcoming. Soooo the day comes. May 20th at 0900. We walk in, sign our waivers, pay $89/person for pics and vids of the entire experience, and get suited up for flight. Dallas was my guy and my best friend had Brian/Bryan (sp?). We hop in the plane and fly for about 10-15 mins until we actually jumped out. Dallas was so easy going, very funny, and made the entire experience comfortable. I am still getting butterflies just reminiscing on how awesome/scary it felt!!! Also. I'm so glad my best friend and fellow Yelp Elite LOVED her experience as well. She said it was probably the best decision she's ever made. I would recommend Skydive Mesquite to any and all of my friends. The staff here are super cool peoples and just want to share their love of skydiving with their customers. Wish I could give them more than 5 stars!

    Pure bliss

I have always been, & probably forever will be, scared of heights. So when my best friend asked me to skydive with her... I said yes, duh! We originally made the drive down to Mesquite from vegas on May 6th (an hour & a half drive, btw). However, upon arrival, the winds were blowing pretty hard. We had to reschedule & brad was really accommodating. He asked us to stay and chill & we ended up staying for hours lol. I spoke with some skydivers & asked about their first jump. It's really amazing how nice & down to earth these people are. So we came back to jump after 2 weeks. We got there, signed papers, bought the vid & pics, and got ready for the big jump. You take a small plane up about 10,000 ft, I believe. Thennnn ya jump to your death. Lol jk. But I seriously thought if the jump wasn't gonna kill me... this plane would lol. Anyway, I did my tandem with Brian/Bryan. He was really chill and made my experience so amazing. Am I still scared of heights? Definitely. Would I jump out of a plane again? Most definitely. It was probably the best thing I've ever done & im so grateful for my best friend for taking me. If y'all are having second thoughts... don't! Just do it.

SKyive Mesquite is hands down the BEST!!! Went there for Valentines Day with the hubby. And the staff is just AMAZING. The lady who answers the phone is also so great. I called at 10am because I wasn't sure Id be able to make my 3pm reservation (babysitter issues) and she asked me if I would like to reschedule. (no fee either). Thankfully I was able to make it to our 3pm. Got there at 3:15pm: We got to watch a group skydive from the ground. Got suited, and got a very short lesson (I thought the lesson would be longer but there really isn't much to do when up there. Instructor does everything) I was so so so nervous. I mean I was so sick to my stomach thinking sh** I'm really going to do this! My Instructors name was Dallas. He was an angel. If I had any other instructor I don't know if I could have gone through with it. I was getting really terrified. Dallas kept me calm, made jokes and really loosened my nerves. I knew I was in good hands. Having a great instructor who communicates well is very very important I learned. Go see Dallas if your terrified. While skydiving I dislocated my shoulder (Childhood problem NOT anyone's fault). The wind just pushed my arm back a little too much. I have a weak socket. So if you have this problem let your instructor know then they will let you keep your arms in. I didn't think it would be a problem so didn't let them know and i had to pay the price. THankfully it popped back in in mid air. My husbands instructors name was Joshua. But I believe they call him Cash. He was great as well. My husband wasn't scared so his job was a little easier. Very cool guy. We also got the video and pictures(200 plus photos). Worth every penny. AMAZING place and staff. Highly recommended

Best Drop zone in Southern NV... Hands down, Brad and his operations team are THE BEST at what they do. Whether you're jumping for the first time tandem, or decide to further yourself and take the jump ;) into the Accelerated Freehold program to get yourself licensed to jump on your own. I made the mistake of jumping at another drop one first (I'll be kind and remain them anonymously) nothing but a tandem factory. Brad and his team care about ALL jumpers equally... Tandem or fun jumpers - his team doesn't see you or treat you in any other way other, like the other drop zone, as just money coming thru his business and a 1 time slot on the airplane. I'll travel the 1.5 hr long car ride from Vegas to Mesquite to be treated as a quality jumper vs quantity... To all the negative reviews: you must've been disrespectful to his team and or the sport and SAFETY is always #1, as complacency will get you killed and that's a fact! Keep up the AWESOME work Skydive Mesquite!!!

Me and my bestfriend got groupons here and we here and we had a blast good laid back vibes but you know your safe :) We enjoyed Rocco good dude!

    Livin' the sky life today!

For being a small operation, these guys really have it together. I haven't jumped in years and it was a more memorable experience than my last one in WA, which is saying a LOT. I found this place trying to find the perfect gift for my fiancé, Scott. And boy did I hit the jackpot! Rocco was the pro that I tandem jumped with and he was amazing. Great guy, experienced, laid back, and great energy. My jump was so relaxing I almost couldn't believe it. Tyrus deserves mad props too for making Scott's very first jump exciting and hands-on! He turned him into a believer! I'll be going back to them to get my solo license for sure. (Just maybe not in the dead of summer...) Ladies, if you do jump in the summer, wear a tank top and shorts to fly in. With your provided flight suit/pants and gear and the ride up you'll be dying if you don't!

Best day ever at the Camel Safari! Guided by Adam and Allie-two of the most knowledgeable,…read morefriendly, and genuinely caring people you'll ever meet . This experience was unforgettable from start to finish in their 165 acre property. We kicked off the day with a short ride on Jafar, a stunning, gentle giant weighing nearly 3,000 pounds. ( love at first sight) After taking some amazing photos with him, he happily stayed nearby and spent the rest of the day with us. From there, we met several other camels and hopped on the tram, where more adventures were to be had . Along the way, we encountered so many incredible animals, more camels, a zedonk, llamas, alpacas, and miniature horses. One of the highlights was feeding Thorn, their adorable pet porcupine, grapes she was just the sweetest little girl. We also got to see New Guinea singing dogs (so cute!) and Ambien, their 20-year-old sloth, who was just as amazing to see in person as you'd imagine. Feeding the alpacas and llamas carrots was such a fun, hands-on experience. As if that wasn't enough, four friendly Ridgeback dogs casually joined us on the tram, roaming freely and adding even more charm to the day. Every animal we encountered was gentle, well cared for and clearly loved . I truly can't say enough wonderful things about this experience it was pure joy from beginning to end. If you've never met a camel, Ilama, or alpaca, you're missing out. These gentle creatures will absolutely fill your heart. I'm already looking forward to going back again soon. I didn't want the day to end . This is one adventure you don't want to miss it's truly an overload of joy! "LIVE LIFE WITH LOVE & LAUGHTER" ~PEACE JODY~

First, you NEED to make a reservation before going…read more I never knew we had a ranch with 30 Camels, Alpacas, a Llama, New Guinea Singing Dogs, a Two Toed Sloth, an African Crested Porcupine, a Donkey and a few other animals about an hour outside of Las Vegas. Guy the owner, an amazing bank of knowledge, he knows so much about each animal and more. He is a little rough around the edges and some may think him rude; you try to manage a 176 acre ranch with well over 60 animals who have to be fed daily, not so easy... The Camels have a diet of lettuce, carrots, sweet potatoes, apples; the sloth has a special diet which includes egg whites, the ranch dogs get the yolk as a daily treat and they know when that's coming. So in addition to taking care of all the animals, the ranch which is 176 acres, there are also tours to manage. So show him a little appreciation for what he does every day, seven days a week, etc... You can do camel rides, an ATV experience, a zoo tour on a tram, it's not easy and I feel for him so if you go out there, understand his personality has to be rough to deal with all this. Also understand, each animal has its own personality and feelings. Yesterday, Norm a camel used for rides was having a bad day. He was not in the mood for riders. I first tried to ride Norm, he was calm getting his saddle on but once I got on him, he was nope. When Allie got me off of Norm, Norm had an attitude with both Allie and Guy, Norm had to be put in a kennel which Norm was not happy about but needed a time out. So remember, dealing with 30 camels, mini horses, a Llama, Alpacas, a sloth, etc; they are dealing with a lot of different personalities and feelings in addition to people coming to visit. Safety is taken as a HIGH priority. These animals can inflict pain & even death, so I have a LOT of respect for Guy & Allie. They not only have to be concerned with adults but children as well. We arrived at 8:45 which is when the gate is opened, we met Allie and Guy along with another couple. We rode first and as I said Norm was not happy so I got off and they took my friend around the track. Upon coming back with my friend, a whole group showed up for the zoo tour so we were asked if we minded doing the zoo tour and then we will get back to the camel ride. No biggie... The zoo tour was amazing. We got on the tram and were taken to see every animal on the property stopping in each area, learning all about the animals in that area with the opportunity to ask questions, got to go in the kennel to feed the Llama and Alpacas, cool animals, petted the zebra, fed and petted the porcupine, got up close and personal with the sloth and just had an amazing experience. The knowledge gained yesterday was so cool. Once the zoo tour was over I got to ride Lodi. The camel ride was really cool, long and a really neat experience I would do again. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you go out and visit this Camel Safari. They need the support as they have a lot of mouths to feed daily and you will have an amazing experience in the Nevada desert.

The staff reaching out were very accommodating and easy to deal with in the minor reschedule. Desirae was working check in on my very early arrival. She was awesome, informative, friendly, and very generous in allowing me to stash my motorcycle helmet and jacket outside of provided lockers, it in her control. Really nice customer service and friendliness despite some of the other "customers". Top notch. I've had a little prior experience jumping, and was matched with Dimitrios as my jumpmaster/tandem. That dude is awesome. Enthusiastic, engaging, and true fun pro. Knowing I had a sprinkling of experience, he leaned into it and gave me quite an excursion. I was just there for the rush and ride, and boy did he provide! Would absolutely do again. Big props to Desirae and Dimitirios. They made an already exciting and fun experience, superb. Side note to Desirae- I followed your advice on the charger ride up the road- excellent. Thank you for the recommendation..

We never went on the trip because of weather but the booking was very sketchy so READ THIS BEFORE…read moreYOU BOOK. We went to Hawaii when there was the big storm and we were worried about the weather so we moved our jump to later in the week when it clears up. We were never told about ANYTHING regarding our deposit, so then we moved it very easily and customer service was great. We then realize the day before the jump that it will be cloudy and not worth the money so we wanted to cancel overall. So we called and the lady told us that in order to get a full refund for the deposit, we need to cancel at least 48 hours before the appointment. SHE then OFFERED to move the jump 72 hours ahead so we can call back and CANCEL the day after our call. We then call the next day, 48 hours before and try to cancel and the guy tells us we can't get a refund but we have the option to lock our deposit (until we jump; forever). We try arguing and yelling at him to give us the deposit of $260 back because the lady before told us we could. We decided to call another time to see if we could talk to someone different and she told us the same thing; we can't just move the appointment ahead outside of the cancellation window just to cancel???!!! At this point we give up and hopefully I'll be skydiving with a group of 5 in the future, because my $260 is locked away. Also we were setting up our appointment and there was a hidden gasoline fee of $75 when we were presented the price (we found out because I had to text and ask why the price was high). Why wasn't this included in the total? Anyway I'm sure it is a great experience and safe and everything, it's just the booking is really sketchy.

There is a roomy indoor waiting area with a variety of seating, including stools with power outlets. The restroom was pretty large and clean, better than the one at the JSX (the semi-private airline) terminal. There is also seating in an outdoor patio with views of the helicopter launch area. Since I booked the earliest of these short tours, the terminal was quiet and check-in was seamless and kind. Every passenger is weighed at check-in to balance the weight on the helicopter. You have the option of requesting a front row seat ($30); you are charged if and when you are upgraded. I unfortunately did not make the cut, but I ended up being very satisfied with my rear window seat behind the pilot. Our copter had 2 seats in front, 4 in the rear. Some of the other copters have 3 front/4 rear seats: I think these are the ones that go to the Grand Canyon. We watched a safety video in the terminal, then boarded a shuttle for the brief ride to the helicopter. A photographer and the pilot accompanied us. Your photo is taken outside the copter before boarding. The seats have noise-cancelling headphones you can wear; they have music playing. The ride was smooth and quick. You basically go north on the east side of the Strip, make a U-turn just north of Downtown, then head south on the west side of the Strip. You can see every hotel on the Strip and Downtown, plus The Sphere, the High Roller Ferris wheel, T-Mobile Arena and Allegiant Stadium. Back at the terminal, your photo and a flight certificate are available for purchase. I did give the pilot a gratuity, others on my flight (all were non-American) did not. The company offers a myriad of tours--Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam and more. Some of the Strip tours have added perks like a meal or foodie tour; the basic tour I took can include transportation to and from your hotel if you choose. Recommended.

Unfortunately, our experience aligns with several others. Often times, only people frustrated with…read moresomething will bother to write a negative review, but those with a positive (or expected) experience will not write a review. So it always tends to be skewed and you have to take reviews with a grain of salt, so I was hopeful that would be the case for us and we wouldn't experience the problems that others have. Just as several others have mentioned here, our flight was cancelled the day of, after we arrived. We booked SEVEN months in advance, paid in full ~ $1200 for family of four. We arrive 30 minutes prior as instructed. They tell us, sorry, we have mechanical issues, so you are cancelled. They say, we tried to call you (we received no call because, guess what, cell service is not the best around the south rim of the grand canyon...). We said, we have seen at least 4 helicopters flying, how about canceling someone else, how do you select? Did everybody else here book 7+ months ago? Who is prioritized? The reality is they overbooked, and because we paid 7 months previous, we paid less (I looked, their prices went up since we had booked). So I guess we were the easy choice to cancel... They offered to rebook the next day, yet they know that nearly nobody can accomodate this, so it is a hollow offer where they know they can "do their part to try to rectify", but also know that nearly everybody would then just cancel, and the problem takes care of itself. Great business model... Everybody that is going to book a helicopter trip over the grand canyon is there on vacation, and nobody is staying anywhere near grand canyon village or the location of this airport. It is an hour drive just from Williams and the main road, one way. Anyone who books this is driving in from Sedona or Vegas or Phoenix for a half/one day trip, and vacation days/time is precious. Its not as though you can just go do something else nearby and wait until the next day... We had one window of time planned, and the time of this flight was it. I suppose that is why they do not really care about customer service, or screwing someone last minute. Its not like they are planning for repeat customers really... Kids were beyond disappointed. The build-up and excitement, only to be completely let down last minute. They cried as we were walking out and leaving because the talk of the helicopter ride was happening for months prior. And now to the refund. The girl at the counter said the refund would take 7-10 days. Ok, thats typical, whatever. 12 days goes by, no refund. E-mail and call. They respond and say that, because its been more then 6 months, we cannot refund back to your card. We can either ACH (and attached a form) or send a check. I respond to tell then to send a check. Who in their right mind is going to provide their bank account number and routing number into a microsoft word file and e-mail it back? Fast forward ~ 21 days. Still no check. So send another e-mail (haven't called yet because that is a whole other experience...). I receive and e-mail back, not a response to my e-mail, but a carbon copy of the first one sent 9 days prior saying I can use ACH or check. Um, huh? So here we are now, still no refund. Fortunately, since we were heading to Vegas that day (was supposed to be right after our helicopter flight), we booked with Maverick for a helicopter flight over Las Vegas the next day. $450 for family of four, and the experience was excellent all around. I'd recommend Maverick, and avoid this company.

Get the dog fighting package. You do that three times, and actually get to fly the plane yourself for 3-5 minutes. It's wild. These planes are capable of 10G, F16s can only do 9G. They were built to simulate experience for fighter pilots. Flying the plane is the best. You will never get a chance to do this anywhere else, since it doesn't exist. The "bombing run" through Red Rock canyon is unreal too. Doesn't seem like these planes should be able to do the things they can do on any axis on the sky. Total paradigm shift in the mind when you are accustomed to driving a car on a flat surface. Tip: I was worried about the motion sickness, but took a couple of Meclizine pills an hour before which I recommend, especially if you are going for the hard core experience. Pilots can sense your limits though and keep things at the intensity level you request.

Staff and facilities were great, and they are located at the North Las Vegas Airport. Overall, it was a very thrilling and fun experience for her. Her only negative comment was that her flight was scheduled for 11am and she showed up at 1030am as required, however, she waited over 2 hours and 15 minutes before she finally got up in the air and was really not provided any reason while she was waiting for the delay (she was thinking they may have been short either a plane or pilot). Overall, she recommends the experience and had a great time.
