I am not much of a playground connoisseur, but I must say this is the coolest and most impressive one I've ever been to! I was hanging out with my nephews for the holiday so we went to thunder Junction, there is no entry fee, but you'd think you were entering an amusement park. Lots of things to see and do and play with, mostly playground type things, but also some neater stuff like these splash pad water area, and the small train. Highly recommend this for the kiddos if you're in St. George or just passing by. read more

This is an amazing park. We could spend all day here. Definitely would like to plan for a longer day when it's cooler out. So many different sections of the playground and lots of space to roam. If you're using the Apple Maps it'll take you to the wrong place. Turn into Tonaquint Park to find Thunder Junction. read more

We are visiting from out of town and wanted to find a fun spot for our kids to play. We LOVED this park. The dinosaur theme was so fun! Perfect park for a Dinosaur child fanatic! My son loves dinosaurs and this place is the cutest! Best of all, It's free! They have a splash pad where kids can get wet, swings, slides, small walking paths, picnic tables, and a train. When we visited the train was out of order till further notice. You can stay here for a few hours, time flies by because the kids can run and have fun in different areas. It's a nice place to take drinks and snacks in case the kids get hungry. Also, make sure to bring extra clothes because chances are the kids WILL get wet. read more

This is maybe the coolest park that we have ever visited. It's an amazing dinosaur park with a splash pad also. They have a volcano that erupts with smoke and makes dinosaur noises. Then there is also a train around the park that is very affordable. read more

Man, playgrounds have sure changed since I was a youngster. I love that St. George has this beautiful park with facilities for everyone. If your child is in a wheelchair, is neuro-diverse or neuro-typical, this is the place for them. Kids of all ages and abilities can play together. It's a thing of beauty. In addition to the accommodating playground, there are beautiful trees and flowers all around-masking the fencing that circles the perimeter of the park (a feature that helps keep children who like to run away safely enclosed). There is a train, water feature and plenty of shade. If I had a child, I'd be here all the time. read more

But the quality of this free experience makes it a must stop no matter how old your kids are. Playground equipment here has more of a focus on fun and less on being 100% liability free. One of the coolest sensory parks for little kids in St. George. Nice little train ride still $1.00 per person as of July 2022 but closed for maintenance. Usually closed for the Holidays until January 8th this year 2022 tgey had a holiday train, hot cocoa plus other fun activities for the family. We went on the train in 2020 during late summer and the grandsons had a blast! We have been back with all of the grandchildren multiple times. The water pad, splash area is so much fun and coolest swings, riding, music park available. I am sad to see that its not better respected by the visitors as some of the items to play the music were broken and since been fixed. Local people and businesses donate to make this a great park. Its free to all and allows for parents and grandparents to be able to play with the kids! Absolutely phenomenal outdoor park for family. read more

Took a long drive from LA to UT and found this place on Yelp as a stop to give the kids a break from the car ride. If you have kids of various ages, do yourself a favor and stop here! There are so many cool things to do like a mini zip line and rock climbing and best of all, it's FREE! There is also a train that goes (there is a small fee for this) but unfortunately we missed it. It's only in operation for a few hours on certain days, so you'll have to check before you come if you want to do that. But honestly such a great place to come if you have kids and need to get them out of the house (or in my case, the car). read more

This park is huge! I love that there is a section that is wet but also there are others too! A lot of the 'rides' are disability friendly! There is also a train you can ride mon-sat for $1 a ride! I suggest bringing sunscreen and water in case you can't find shade! We will definitely visit the next time we are in town! read more

What an awesome park!!!! If it wasn't 2 hours away from me, I'd be here twice a week! It's a dinosaur themed park. Entrance is free, but they have snacks for sale and the train ride is $1 per person (12 months and under are free.) there are numerous things to ride/swing/ jump on. There was a cool tree house with really steep slides, a splash pad, zip line and of course the train. And since the train ride was only $1, we rode 3 times. My son had a blast. We spent about 3ish hours here. There are plenty of picnic tables in the shade, so we were able to enjoy a little snack before lunch. I would definitely recommend this park to anyone. I know we will be back again as the weather is warming up nicely. read more

This is such a great park! Free admission to a huge playground with very unique equipment, some of which I have never seen at any other park before. Dinosaur theme is adorable and flows nicely throughout the park. The only thing that costs money is the train ($2 per rider) and the concession stand (everything $1-2). There is also a small splash pad with a waterfall that is super fun as well. Plenty of shaded areas to sit if desired and tables if you bring your own food. The park is very expansive with many areas to explore including a musical area, walking paths, and the inside of the volcano which "erupts" every 45 minutes and even has air conditioning! read more

This park is pretty spectacular! Utah cities have really answered the call to provide awesome all-abilities parks throughout the state. Such a game-changer for families of all shapes and sizes! This park is dinosaur themed: triceratops slide, volcano picnic area and slides, various types of swings and twirly things, ziplines, splash pad rock area with a waterfall and river by a fossil t-rex head, and even an active train. The train ride costs $1 per person but is always being run by a cute old man with much enthusiasm. :) In the middle of the park, the volcano even "erupts" occasionally every 15 minutes or so (when it's on). By erupt I mean gray smoke and thunderous sounds. Such a fun experience for all ages! read more

MUST SEE, MUST VISIT. What an amazing park and it's FREE! Thunder Junction is an all abilities park perfect for all ages. It's a dinosaur theme playground with a cute little waterfall area that my kids loved (ages 3 and 7) including an erupting volcano, a splash pad, swings, slides, picnic tables, train rides, all sorts of playground equipment, not over crowded and it's VERY CLEAN! We've never been to a park like this and wish they had one in California. It was super hot when we went, 100 degrees - but this place has shade and our kids had a blast! If you are ever in the St. George area, this place is a hidden gem. Although it's a little tricky to find, here's a tip, when you see the cemetery (yes, I know it's weird) turn right before the cemetery. We had a hard time locating this place but once found, you won't regret it. Bring your kids here, no matter what age, you won't regret it. read more

Fun park! Awesome scenery and imaginative design. I loved the seating area inside the volcano ! It had some openings in the ceiling with pterodactyls hanging on the edges. This is the kind of park I would expect to see in Disneyland or something. We were not able to try the train. The family bathrooms were clean and roomy. Soap was full - always a plus haha. There were drinking fountains in the volcano seating area. The splash pad was so cute and creative! And as an added bonus the water wasn't freezing! Yay!!! My only suggestions are to add a shade over the toys that aren't shaded because they were too hot to enjoy and also to add a few more benches to sit on in the park area. read more

This is truly a gem in Saint George. Entrance is free. The cute train ride is only one dollar. There are so many great aspects to this park. I have an eleven year old, a three year old, and a one year old and I can say that they ALL enjoyed their time here. This park need major help! We passed through three years ago and it was a surprise oasis for our family! An August water park (for free!), with all abilities expansive playground and $1 train ride?! It was incredible! But this year, July 2024, it felt like a different place. the water park was closed, the train posted signs with increased prices (still only $2, due to the economy), but it too was closed until further notice. All of the soft, carpeted and cushioned flooring was ripped and ruined in many places, and while all of the play equipment was in good shap, some of it was faded and sun-bleached. Still worth a free stop, but certainly disappointing for the fond memories we held for this unique place. please help this park! read more

Nice place. Fun for the kids and very cost effective (free) except for a train that costs a dollar per ride per person. Train wasn't running the day we went (July 20th.) Lots of playground stuff, splash pad and waterfall/caves (that unfortunately smelled like urine.) Wouldn't recommend this place in the summer. No running water in the bathrooms but the splash pad was working ...so we watched people go in to use the bathroom, then come out and clean up in the splash pad area (or worse - used the water fountains.) Thunder junction is what a children's playground should be-- a place where everyone belongs. The park is designed for kids of all abilities, including those who might require the use of a wheelchair or other appliance. This park is demonstrative of the power of universal design, and perfectly blends utility, compassion, and recreation for all kids. Ramps facilitate wheelchairs, parents with strollers, small children who might trip over a curb or sandbox edge, blind children, and youngsters with prosthetic limbs. Various slides, decorations, structures, and activities appeal to all five senses, and also facilitate use by kids of differing abilities. At Thunder Junction, kids can play together, regardless of their differences... a concept that should be considered in all parks as far as I'm concerned. On our New Years trip to the park, several features were not in operation; namely, the train ride that circumnavigates the park, the volcano (that reportedly erupts with "smoke"and sound), and the water park area (a little chilly for water-play.) A dinosaur theme seems to appeal to everyone, with slides, carousels, zip lines, swings, and tactile/kinesthetic climbing areas. No graffiti, no tagging, no scribing... just colorful activities for kids. I wish we could have stayed longer. The only irksome thing was some older high school aged kids and adults who were occupying some of the kids' attractions. A group of big girls were riding a swing designed for a child who would need to lie down... they were pushing one of their friends way too high, and almost hitting small children running nearby. One of the zip-lines was being enjoyed by a group of twentysomethings who certainly pushed the weight limit rating, and were making little kids wait. Maybe everything closed for New Years found these folks coming here? All in all, an amazing park, and one my kids are still talking about. Worth checking out if you're in the neighborhood. read more

This is a great park that offers tons of fun for hours! I love their little cave with the waterfall, that's probably my favorite part. They have a lot of different designs as far as what they offer that offer tons of fun. They have a little concession stand where you can buy drinks and some little knickknacks like keychains. Best playground in St. George. I wish we could have it to ourselves but the secret is out and it is always crowded. Sometimes to the point that it's too stressful to bring the kids for fear of losing them amidst all the people. Lots of unique play options for kids of all sizes and abilities. I do wish that some of the older children and adults would treat the equipment better. Alas, that's no fault of the park and to be fair, they do a wonderful job maintaining the area. If you're looking for a place to go to get the wiggles out, this is it! This is a HUGE playground with tons of things to do for all abilities. There is also a large shaded picnic pavilion to sit down and eat at. There is a train that runs during that day that you can pay to take a little ride on, and a large splash pad to cool off in in the hot southern Utah sun. We didn't have a ton of time to play because it was getting dark, but now that we know about this place we will be back when we pass through. read more
