Greek chicken dinner

I have been eating at skippers for over 10 years. I used to get their tacos which were good, but I recently started getting the Greek chicken dinner. You can't beat the price or the portions! Food is tasty and always fresh. Staff is friendly and the kitchen/restaurant always looks clean.

Yummy gyros excellent cheese frie. Taziki tasted like salad dressing. Super efficient . Went to pita to pick up food. Before I went in, I called in the order by the time I got out of Pita Inn and grab my food it was ready. The onions were very hot. Wish they would soak in water first

My parents live near this restaurant. Their menu is actually quite large. Surprisingly, their shrimp meal is very good. Large, actually. I also like their steak sandwich. The hands down favorite for my family is their gyro (which I don't order). To me it also looks very large. I think the prices are reasonable. It looks like they offer to go, delivery, and dine in.

Genuine tacos! This is the pork version.

I've lived and gone to church in this area since the late 1990's, but for some reason didn't start coming by here until this week. Go figure. The ever popular Pita Inn is across the street, but if you're in for some good ol' fast food, then Skipper's is where it's at! So far I have had their gyros and tacos and I loved them both. I saw the complaint about small gyro for $10, but I disagree, their portions are decent. Gyros were typical, nothing extraordinarily different than what I've had. Meat was tender, pita nice and warm. And tacos? Yes, tacos! I had the el pastor taco so far and it's well seasoned and delicious. That corn tortilla is also done well, and the cilantro and onion toppings are a perfect fit. I've been to Big Star and Antique Taco in the city, and I must say these tacos are pretty spot on, if not better. The staff is friendly, the food comes out quick. The interior is a bit of a "blast from the past", but honestly that made it feel more homey and inviting! And who doesn't love supporting small businesses?! :). So if you're in the area, check out Skipper's! I may just run into you!

Great stop after landing in Chicago. So cool that they are open late…read more I ordered online and it was ready in 15-20 min. This spot has a market, too and a bakery. We were in a rush to get outta there as we still need to check in, but this is def worth checking out again during our visit. Lentil soup was great. I ordered the chicken kebab plate and i'd say, it's a 3/5.

I was a quite disappointed because we went on Saturday at 6:30pm and they were completely out of all pide, ezme, haydari, and the pickles so the menu was pretty limited. We ended up ordering fries as an appetizer since that's all they had. The entrees also said they come with bulgar and rice but we did not have any bulgar on our dish..it also said we should have roasted peppers and onions, which were not on our dish either. I assume they were out of all of those? We really wanted hummus but it was not on the menu. When we finished our meal, we noticed the table behind us had hummus... it would have been nice to know they had hummus. Also, we really wanted to try the manti but did not see it on the menu. At the end of the meal, my husband wanted a coffee and the waitress said there was no coffee and the machine was broke. Service was ok. Waitress forgot our drink. Not very attentive. Dining area is small but cute. They are planning to expand the dining area so there really isn't much of a market anymore. Prices are pretty high in comparison to most Turkish/middle eastern restaurants. They do give you yummy bread and Babaganoush. I want to try it again in hopes that other menu items are available.

I tried the veggie platter and got falafel, hummus, baba ghannouj, and salad along with pita bread. There's even a shawarma bowl. For drinks, there's a machine with all sorts of choices. Their food is very good both my wife & I ordered the mixed meat signature plate for $19 a piece. This dish comes w/a very good variety of meats like chicken & beef shawarma, grilled chicken, grilled beef & beef kifta along with/a Mediterranean salad, yellow rice & 4 - 1/2 pocket pitas perfect for making a pita sandwich. We took the 1/2 pita & put a variety of chicken, beef, salad & yellow rice & topped it w/tahini sauce & hot sauce. This made an excellent pita pocket sandwich. The mixed meat platter makes for an excellent meal w/generous sized portions & excellently seasoned meal. In fact we had left overs so I will have lunch tomorrow. The Groupon made a good meal even better because we were able to order 2 excellent meals for $20. PPMG has multiple locations all over Chicagoland. This one was in Palatine off of Dundee & 53. I've also eaten @ the Rolling Ghetto & Lombard locations. I see they also have locations in Des Plaines, Chicago (closer to me), Skokie, 200 W Randolph (no parking). There is a monstrous screen behind the bar for sports, but they mostly show videos of Greece, but they are mesmerizing videos of a beautiful country. It's a cleaner version of Dengeo's. And, dare I say, better version. Except for their avgolemeno soup. Such a weak travesty. Please fix this. It's just a watery mess. However, everything else is delicious. I ordered the Greek Chicken with their lemon-butter rice. They debone the chicken and serve atop a mountain of their rice. If also had their potatoes (which are good) but the rice is magical. The first time we went, they had a serve yourself soda fountain and they since got rid of it and sell soda in bottles and cans. They do still have a self-serve water station. Once you order, staff will bring to your table, so please tip when you order or leave on the table as they do come by and clear your table as well. It is first come first served and you grab your own tables. I've been there on weekends and weeknights and they get pretty packed. The food is flavorful and quite tasty. The portions are huge so you're definitely going to bring something home. Nostimo is now in our rotation of places to go in a pinch and they do have an outdoor seating area, too.

Best we had was the Roditis, which is a rosé from Corinthia. It's about $8 for the Hummus. Comes with lots of pita bread. The rest of the menu is meaty. Great place located on Rand at Chestnut. It's closed Mondays. There's the hummus for vegetarians.

The service was great they were checking on us and following up on everything and very attentive. The pasta we ordered was also good came with the sausage it was the sausage rigatoni with sausage. My sister recommended the crispy brussel sprouts she said it was really good but we opted to go for the octopus I feel like the octopus was over seasoned a bit but it was cooked perfectly really tender. Will definitely be coming back to this place to try more stuff on their menu. Happy eating!

We had made a reservation a month in advance to try a new restaurant on Father's Day. However, as…read morethe day approached, the weather forecast consistently called for thunderstorms, heavy rain, and possible flash flooding. We decided it was not a good idea to drive to an unfamiliar area in inclement weather and canceled the reservation on Friday night. We were fortunate that Social Inn is close by and is a great restaurant for celebratory dining. Best of all, they still had reservation available. As it turned out, it was just light rain the entire evening on Father's Day, but we didn't regret the change at all. Although the restaurant was not filled to capacity, it was bustling with many families celebrating Father's Day, creating a festive vibe. It's the first time that we met the owner, Daniella, who's so warm and welcoming. She invited us to choose from available tables in three different dining areas. We selected the table right by the lounge that had a large TV, homey décor, couch and cocktail table. It was also right by the big window overlooking the small and charming front patio. Our server, Chis, was very friendly, pleasant, and attentive. I ordered a Lemonade ($3), my husband and daughter each enjoyed a glass of Mer Soliel Reserve Chardonnay (2 for $26). We shared a Grilled Octopus ($22) which was cooked to perfection. The warm, lightly charred pita points paired well with the creamy and tasty beet hummus. I had a Slow Roasted Lamb Shank ($39) which was tender and full of flavors. It was a very generous portion that I shared a big piece with my husband; and still had leftovers to take home. It made a delicious lamb sandwich for my next lunch. My husband liked his Spiked White Fish ($29) so much last time that he ordered it again. Our daughter enjoyed her order of Rigatoni Sausage ($23), another generously portioned dish that she couldn't quite finish. By the end of the meal, we were too full for individual desserts, so we shared a Crème Brûlée ($8), which was the perfect sweet ending. All in all, it was a wonderful dinner. With consistent delicious dishes, warm hospitality, comfortable seating, and a convenient location, we will definitely be back again.

The person behind the counter had a great energetic smile and was super nice. Ever though we were the only ones there, we still had about at 15 minute wait, which was fine. I was really hoping to love the food, but it was just okay for me. I felt like there was a lot of flavor that was lacking in the shawarma and rice. The bowl serving seemed kind of small- especially for being $13. The bowl also came with a small salad inside, but I was not a fan of the pickle that was cut up, but that's just personal preference for me. The falafels were crispy and tasty. And the hummus was good, fresh and homemade, and looked amazing, but while getting close to the bottom of it, I found a tiny blue spec mixed in the hummus. Of course it caught my attention and I removed it to inspect it more. Possible a piece of sponge??? Needless to say, it shouldn't have been in there and it ruined my experience with the hummus.
