I ordered a double cheeseburger because I was afraid a gyro would be too messy, but the double cheeseburger was messy and I still ended up wearing part of it. It was delicious though. For $46, you get 1 pound of gyros, 4 pitas, 4 sauces, 1 extra large fry, 1 container of onions and tomatoes, and 1 large Greek salad. I added 1 Spanakopita and 2 cups of cheese sauce to accompany the fries. I did not eat the gyros until they were marked as leftovers the next day. It was late, I didn't want to make noise warming them, so I ate them straight out of the fridge with the sauce and veggies. So good! I ordered online in the afternoon to expedite the time from drum lessons to dinner and everything was ready promptly. The woman manning the register was kind and polite as they wrapped up everything to go! Their gyros prices are steep compared to other local joints, but the amount of food makes up for it. One gyro dinner plate ran us $17 and change after tax, but was enough to feed 2 with some gyro meet still left over. Staff were friendly and quick. The prices are high... higher than many other gyro spots... $14.99 for a gyro dinner and the other items are high too. But the deal is that the portions are huge! You can totally share or make two meals out of a gyro dinner, so you're really looking at $7.50 for 2 meals with gyro, salad, and fries. Plus the flavors are on! Everything was made to order and our family enjoyed it. The service was patient, but not really welcoming or warm. That's okay. She took our order promptly and we sat in a booth. The dining area is simple but clean. We received our meal in about 5 minutes. The portions are more than plenty. The fries and basic fries, but their gyro meat comes on the side with pita, tzatziki sauce, onions, tomatoes, and a small Greek salad. I like that they leave it to you how much sauce and everything you want on your sandwich! The salad was tasty, and all ingredients seemed fresh. The chicken gyro meat was delicious. YUM, Olympus Gyros - you are a find! One of my favorite foods is the Chicago-style gyros - I can literally eat this on a daily basis and will never get sick of it. HA. Olympus Gyros has been around for years, and this family -owned and -operated business is loved by the locals - you can tell that they have a great relationship with their patrons, as I've overheard conversations that included how the family/children were, health, etc. - so nice! Besides gyros, they also have soups, salads, Chicago-style hot dogs, sausages, burgers, sandwiches, various sides, and 'meal deals' - look for their specials of the day by the cash register. Stopping by for a quick bite, I ordered the Gyros Sandwich with extra onions and extra tomatoes, well-done. The gyros themselves were sliced perfectly and tasted so good; the onions and the tomatoes were fresh and plentiful. The pita bread was fluffy and one of the better pita breads I've had. The service here is very friendly, welcoming, and kind. The place is set up like a small diner, with some booths inside. A small parking lot if available to park your vehicle. We were in the are doing a delivery and when we searched on Yelp for a place to have lunch this one was less than a mile away on the street we were driving on! They have a private parking lot. We placed our order and got it really quickly. We ordered two Gyros sandwiches and the meat was a little over cooked for my husbands liking but I thought it was great! The weather is in the 30's today and the restaurant was warm and had heaters running which we appreciated. The lady who took our order was very sweet. We will be back for sure if we are in the area! Olympus Gyros is the place to go if you want gyros because they definitely have the best gyro I've had in a really long time. Everything was made to order so it was fresh. What made the gyro so good was the ratio of the meat, sauce, veggies, & pita was perfect for me. The taste was definitely top notch as well! Some places are either too greasy or the meat tastes off, but this place did it just right! Even the fries were freshly cooked & crisped to perfection! Service was great and pretty fast for made-to-order food. The ambiance is just like any old-timey place where they have booth seating & Family Feud playing on the TV at the time I went. The food was so good that we even got a couple Chicago dogs with some more fries to go! Oh & they have Mexican food too so we got some fire Spanish rice on the side as well! All of the other food we got was good. Even the fountain drink with free refills was fine. I definitely recommend this place to anybody looking for good eats, especially gyros! Oh, one last thing: the only very minor complaint I had about this place was the 4% service charge on Credit Cards. I get that a lot of places are starting to do this now to help with the cost of everything going up, but it was the only thing sort of negative about my experience here. So if you bring cash then I guess that's not an issue for you, but then again who does nowadays? I just would have gone about that in a different manner & probably built the additional cost in to the menu price then give a discount to cash paying customers. Prices everywhere are already just going up, up, & up so the additional processing fee just kind of left a little bit of an "Oh" feeling. Again, not that big of a deal as they did have signs everywhere (including on the front door of the restaurant) about it, but I would have gone about it a different way like I said above. Better to bring about something positive than in a negative way. Ok, I've said too much! Still check this place out even if it can get difficult getting from one side of the tracks to the other during rush hour traffic! The gyros are definitely worth the trip! read more

I like the food at Olympus but today I got a small chicken gyros salad and a fountain drink and the total was $17. I asked for them to take out the tomato and cucumber and replace them with more egg (which I have traditionally done). I was told that they no longer put egg on the salad because of cost. When I asked them to then sub it with avocado, the girls said it would be fine but then charged me for it. The base salad is $7, then they add $4 for the chicken gyros and then charged another $2 for the avocado. I mean, this is a SMALL salad and if I take out two of the ingredients, they should be able to sub it with another veggie. I don't appreciate businesses adding on every little cost without even notifying you of the upcharge. Also, the cashier girl is always uptight, stand-offish and unpleasant. read more

It was my sons first gyro and he liked it, but I thought it was just okay. I had to roll the sandwich myself which was awkward and they only gave me three small tomato slices. The fries were completely boring. The inside of the place looks pretty run down, which I would have ignored if the food was awesome. I expected way more for 4-1/2 stars on Yelp! I was expecting one of the best gyros I've ever had - especially when I saw what the place looked like and it still had 4-1/2 stars. It wasn't that. This place was simply passable. Tons of food for a very reasonable price. I got the Gyro Plate and it came with a great Greek salad, tons of fries, a pita and lots of beef/lamb shavings with a good amount of tomatoes and onions. It's a small store with a corner location which makes it tricky depending on what direction you are coming from. Ordered the gyro sandwich and a coke. Asked for the meat well done. It was the best gyro I've had possibly ever, if not then in a really long time. It was so hot I couldn't even pick it up. Had to wait and take it slow. The meat was so flavorful and I love the char when you get it well done. The tzatsiki was delicious too, just the right amount. The staff was friendly and fast in prepping the food. There were a few people there but it wasn't busy since I went after lunch. You could tell a few were regulars and I hope they welcome me to the club because I plan to be one!
