I don't even know where to begin. I'll start with the obligatory "I usually don't leave reviews, but here we are." About three months ago, a friend told me about this place and how great the deals were for "Tox" -- which, by the way, isn't Botox, it's Dysport. But for $2, I figured why not. I called to make an appointment, and their hours are the absolute worst. It's almost like they don't understand the basic principle of running a business: in order to make money, you need to actually be open -- not just every third Thursday and seventh Friday from 3:00 to 3:47 PM. I called about five times whenever I had a free moment and finally landed an appointment. I showed up 15 minutes early and was greeted by a TV screen with a person talking -- kind of like a Zoom receptionist. I sat down and listened to a very unprofessional conversation that dragged on through my entire appointment time. Twenty minutes after my appointment was supposed to start, I went back up to the screen to ask what was going on, which seemed to finally prompt someone in the back to act. A guy came out and asked what I was doing there. I thought that was a rude way to greet a customer, but I explained anyway since I just wanted to get it over with. Because it took so long, and he admitted he hadn't even known there was an appointment on the books, he ended up not charging me. I thought, okay, cool. But after about a week, I noticed no difference. I assumed it was just because Dysport works differently than Botox, and since I hadn't paid, I let it go. Fast forward to today. On an unplanned family day, my wife and I were out running errands with our toddler, and I asked if she wanted to get Botox. She said sure, so I called to check availability, made an appointment for a time they offered, and showed up 15 minutes early again. With our toddler in tow, we sat in the reception area for a solid 20 minutes. I went up to the kiosk receptionist again, and just like last time, that seemed to be what finally got someone in the back moving. This time it was a woman -- nice, polite, apologetic for the wait. That's actually what prompted me to write this review: while we waited, my wife started reading the Yelp reviews, and everything negative in them matched our experience exactly. We sat there debating whether to even stay, and ultimately took it as a blessing in disguise -- we left after about 10 more minutes of waiting and debating. Poor business practices all around! was seen by a young lady on Sunday morning, who seemed quite bit nervous when she started to do my crows feet From the angle, she was attempting to do my crows feet and hit a vein. Immediately and bruised really bad.. I was told I would be contacted Lisa still have not heard from her and I've been sending photos, no advice on what to do other than to ice it which the facility had no ice packs. I referred a few people and it seems as if everyone of us has now had issues with this placw and I will no longer receive any Botox or refer anyone. I'm a business owner myself and I would never client who received poor service and left swollen and bruised with no follow up. Scam artist owner. She can't keep decent people on staff. I prepaid during a sale for many units of Botox. I went in for first round which didn't use my entire purchase and it didn't take affect at all. She wanted me to come in to redo it. I did and she claimed it must have been a bad batch. Second one was no better. I told her I would pay for first batch but I expected a refund for the remaining ones on file as I did not like being a pin cushion for no positive outcome. She refused. After reading other reviews and seeing how she responds, I would avoid this place if you don't want to waste time and money. --- I've had 5-6 laser hair removal treatments so far and I honestly don't see a difference since starting. I've been to other places and the hairs thin out, fall out, and less come back after the first session. That hasn't been the case. I was going to wait until my 8th session but I'm tired of driving up to get zapped with no results. I also got their Botox once and didn't see any difference compared to my previous Botox from other clinics. This company deserves no stars but I had to give it one to submit my review! I learned about this place from a text. It stated that a friend had referred me and they needed models to help with their teaching. I confirmed a licensed nurse would be there to help in any way. I asked several times who the referred friend was but never got that information. I was told I could get filler or botox after a consult of what was needed for $300. I finally agreed to go in and get some filler in my cheeks. After a few days to a week, I could see no results. I received a request for a review and since i didn't want to send a bad review, I submitted a request to come in and have a review of what was done and I even went by the shop on a Sunday, because they usually are open on Sundays. It was closed. Since I didn't hear back, I let it go. Then, I received another text asking me to come in and have more services. I responded that I would not come in because what I had done did not work and when I reached out, no one responded to me. The person who schedules told me the tox and filler coordinator would call me the next day. I received no call. I only received a text to come in for a look. I knew that would mean they could do nothing but I went anyway which was Sunday Fathers Day. The response I received was filled with attitude from Lisa Elias, the owner. She blamed everything and everyone, even told me the person who did my filler was new. I found out later Dana is not new. She has been there for 2 years. If you offer a potential client a promotion, you need to provide the service even if it costs you money. All she kept saying was that she could not give me free product. All I wanted was to get what I was told I would receive. If I had been satisfied, I would have come back and told all of my friends. I did not get it resolved on Sunday, Father's Day because one of their patients passed out while getting blood and I could not wait for 1.5 hours. I went back today Sat, June 21 and was met with 3 of the most pleasant aestheticians; however, the redo that Lisa offered me resulted in one cheek being filled properly and the other more flat. It was not even on both sides and I went back about 1.5 hour later and when Lisa figured out I was the client who has not been satisfied, she decided to shame me and put me in a room, away from the waiting room, to wait until they could get to me. Basically putting me in time out. A new client happen to walk in when I was having that conversation with Lisa and when I was told to sit down and wait because the new client had priority, the person asked if I trusted these people. She could see the tension in the room. I told her she would be fine. I can only assume the "new" client did not get a good feeling and left. At that point, Lisa came back to my room where I had been waiting for more than 30 minutes and told me that I had caused her client to walk out and leave. Please don't waste your time or money on this place. The owner is not interested in satisfying her clients. I have visited Skin Matters on two occasions with both visits being approximately 1 year apart with the most recent visit being in April of 2025.. On each visit, I received Restalane and Dysport. I'm usually on a budget so I need the best bang for the buck. On both occasions, I could not have been more pleased. I believe Lisa did my procedures. She attended college at Auburn and teased me for being an Alabama fan but she is as nice as she could possibly be, very professional and listened carefully as we discussed my concerns and what I would like to improve. With that information, she did the absolute best she could do to achieve the results I was hoping for. Of course we always want more, faster and for as little as possible but its important to be realistic about our expectations. Its also important to remember that you cannot make a silk purse out of a sows ear. I am truly shocked to read some of these reviews because this has not been my experience AT ALL. Several reviews have implied that Skin Matters is unsanitary and does not maintain a sterile environment. I did not find that to be the case AT ALL. It's a small space but to me, that means lower overhead and better pricing for people like me. I can't speak to the experiences of others or the esthetician who may have worked with them but my experience could not have been better because I felt that Lisa was very sincere in trying to meet my needs. I think its possible that some younger astheticians may not possess the same people skills as Lisa. That's something they will hopefully gain with time. Atlanta is a busy place and people are generally in a rush and everyone else is just in their way. People complain a lot about everything so I'm not surprised this many people would take the time to use that phone that is always in front of their face to post a negative comment but this one review that is completely honest, from the heart and I'm not being compensated to offer a positive review. I wouldn't be surprised if some of these negative reviews were because someone compensated them to make such a review. I say check out Skin Matters for yourself and be your own judge. I recently had a laser lipo appointment at skin matters and it was a very disappointing experience. The esthetician was incredibly rude and unprofessional. She barely greeted me, spoke dismissively, and her hostile demeanor made me feel very uncomfortable. It was difficult to relax during the procedure due to her unpleasant attitude. Also the room is not sanitary the needles everywhere dirty !!!!I hope the management addresses this issue to improve their service. I do not like to waste my time writing reviews but I felt strongly about doing so given my experience. First of all I had to call 3 times to even try to set an appointment. I was told repeatedly that, "someone will get back in touch with you to schedule that." On my 3rd call I refused to accept that answer and insisted on holding to finally get the appointment set up. The lady set the appointment, finally achieved after the 3rd attempt. I guess that should have been my red flag then. The day comes for my appointment and I drive 1 hr and about 12 mins (due to Atlanta traffic) and NO ONE is there for my "scheduled" appointment. NO ONE! Imagine my frustration and furiousness after my commute there! Again this has happened on top of the 3 phone calls that it took to set the appointment. I saw a really good deal on group line, and I desperately needed a lot of things done- i had just gotten out of the hospital, and I have been having so many seizures that all of my previous work had been completely ruined along with my natural face, I mean, it was bad. And it was traumatic and I walked into six of the sweetest woman i've ever met in my life... they all came in, and they were all helping and trying to figure out what to do- my face was going through almost complete paralysis on the right- it took two times and it honestly took tara. THIS IS A SCAM!!! Skin Matters had a great special going on Groupon. Unfortunately it was too good to be true. I purchased 120 units of Dysport on Groupon. One of my girlfriends also purchased 120 units. We called and were able to get an appointment a few days out back to back. I arrived while my friend was being treated and immediately felt nervous as the office didn't seem to be very clean, the receptionist was virtual, and the two employees seemed to have some disagreement going on over one girl taking the other girls "tips". My friend came out and was told it would be an additional $150 something dollars. She paid for that on top of the Groupon and warned me that the rooms are nothing like we are used to but the girl seemed nice. I went back and was shocked to see the room, trash over flowing on the ground, the paper protecting for the chair was only pulled down on the head rest, it was extremely small only two people can fit almost like a closet. I received the injections which were extremely painful (not the usual) I left the disgusting room (that I clearly had no business to be in in the first place) and spoke to the virtual assistant/computer at the front desk. I was informed they needed more than the 120 units and paid the difference of $6. I handed the lady that did my injections a $20 for the $6 she requested and she asked if I needed change!? I usually go to upscale spas and have never been asked to tip on top of an injection service let alone asked if I needed my change. My friend advised me that the other girl waiting in the area had been back to them 4 times now post her Botox injections as they didn't work the first two times and the next two were a disaster as well they worked on the third try but when she HALF smiled because half of her mouth was paralyzed my heart sank. She confirmed that she was only back for a refund and had been horribly disfigured. We then left skin matters. My girlfriend and I both spoke about how abnormally painful the experience was and how it felt as if we were being injected to the bone. We crossed our fingers and hoped for the best. Fast forward over a week later I HAD ZERO RESULTS ZERO CHANGES! This is not the norm as I have been getting these treatments for over 10 years now and no where near the volume that they recommended and administered. I called my friend she had ZERO RESULTS too and even worse had paid them an additional $150+ I have attempted to contact the owner no less than 6 times now. I keep getting the girl who schedules appointments she is extremely kind but has zero knowledge of the practice, can not give advise, and only sets appointments. I was told the owner would contact me. Days later the scheduler calls me back advising that the owner is just too busy to speak...I asked about a refund and was told she would repay the message to the owner. Two weeks later/today I call again and get the virtual receptionist/assistant this time he informed me that the owner is busy too but he would relay the message again she must have gotten busy. Upon further investigation on my part this is far from an isolated occurrence! The reviews on Groupon were extremely misleading when you search online the real reviews appear all over. I don't usually give businesses one star but Skin Matters attitude and professionalism toward their customers really enrage me. I purchased a $200 facial package with Skin Matters and when I showed up to my appointment, because of their new system, I was never put in and the $200 package that I purchased was not in my account. I purchased this package with the esthetician, Tatiana who recommends a series of facials that will fit with my skin. Well, when I showed up to my appointment, not only does she does not remember what package we have talked about, the way she treated me left me disappointed. When I asked to leave and get my money reimbursed, they still had a system error so they ask me to leave first and that they will call me directly to resolve my issue. The front desk receptionist promised to call me on that day but she did not follow through and I end up waiting for three more days and still nothing from them. I then called Skin Matters and left a couple of voicemails but still no on return my calls. After calling repeatedly, I finally got through to a receptionist, and she told me that she did not see the $200 package in my account so please screenshot a receipt to her. I did that, and then she says they cannot refund me the money but can set me up with another esthetician but I declined. I will now have to dispute the charge with my bank. *Beware of Skin Matters* I was a client at Skin Matters from 2016 to June 3, 2020. I never experienced any laser issues in the past however on June 3, 2020 the aesthetician burned my skin with the YAG laser. I knew something was wrong as soon as the session was over. I was given an ice pack to place on my skin and sent away. The next day on June 4, 2020 I looked in the mirror and I was horrified. I immediately called the office and asked to speak with the owner Lisa. Lisa claimed I was experiencing skin Hyper pigmentation and suggestEd that I immediately begin using a skin bleaching cream on my face. She did provide me with bleaching pads however; the pads only lightened my entire face. I've since visited a Dermatologist who determined that the dark laser burn marks all over my face were the result of laser burns. I've attempted to reach out to the owner Lisa for a refund of the money I paid for the treatment package but she has refused to refund me. I strongly would not recommend that you get laser hair removal treatments at Skin Matters. I'm still incredulous and my skin has not fully healed or returned to its natural color.
