So I decided to walk the extra 2 blocks and see how it was. I didn't want to go to some over priced cocktail place full of tourists. Upon arriving, I realised the age group of everyone there was a bit older than I expected. Which was great because I hate drinking with a younger crowd.(things always seem to get a bit roudy) The other thing I noticed was I was the only white person there. Personally this doesnt bother me one bit so I walked straight to the bar after wiping off my glasses (it was raining during my walk there) and ordered a drink. I sat down and within 5 minutes, I was chatting with some of the other patrons. Chatting went to laughing which lead to probably one of the best nights I've had in Cleveland so far. Everyone here was awesome. The service was a normal pace and the drinks were cheep. I couldn't have asked for a better place to stumble upon. Moral of the story. If you're looking for a place that feels like home, come here. I made some awesome new friends that I plan on seeing later this week. There's also parking for those of you who don't want to walk.

Eight years worth of Fairmount moments later, this review is well overdue. AMBIANCE: The ambiance allows you to slow down and enjoy your company. The restaurant is dim lit, has fireplaces, and loungey atmosphere. It somehow feels warm and I heard a lot of people refer to it as a second home (people are always so friendly here!). There is ample space - three bars, main dining space, and huge outdoor oasis bar. Nestled in Cedar Fairmount neighborhood, you'll also be able to enjoy historic neighborhood. There are seating arrangements if you're craving company or want to enjoy your date. Seating options include couches by the fireplace, tables, and high tops. Fairmount is delightful during every season. During the summer you can enjoy the bar and patio. In the winter you can dine at the igloos. I prefer all seasons here. FOOD/DRINKS: The menu at Fairmount is impressive and has exciting seasonal/weekly additions. You'll never get bored. The cocktails here are refined, very boozy, and very well crafted. The food is seriously delicious, and consistent every single time. I've been impressed with every dish. The dishes and drinks frequently follow the seasons. During my latest visit I enjoyed Butter Pecan Warm Cider with bourbon ($12, so bold and boozy, tastes like fall). I also ordered Fig Trouble Little China ($15, a more rich version of Old Fashioned, so delicious). I also tasted Short Rib & Risotto for the very first time ($28, such a delicious dish, every bite was just amazing). My favorites? Ah, so hard! I'll go with the Fairmount Burger! It's angus beef burger with bacon-fig chutney. It's so delicious! I can't even be serious about meat at the other burger places, this is easily the best burger in the city. My seasonal favorite? Kevin McCallister seasonal drink that resembles coquito or eggnog. The drink is topped with rice paper that includes the design of Kevin from Home Alone. It's such a fun tradition! I look forward to this drink all year and always tell the world about it! SERVICE: The service is excellent. I haven't been anywhere where service is right on point every single time. Everyone is nice - the owner, hosts, and waitstaff. You truly feel seen and like the most important guest. I've visited previously while on dates and frequently dine here solo, always had the most pleasant service. EVENTS: Many people book events here for their non-profits or companies. As far as individual events, Fairmount hosts a fun NYE party every year! PARKING: Onsite parking lot is available at the back of the building. You can enter through the front doors on Cedar or right through the parking lot door. There are numerous reasons why I love the Fairmount. I consider it to be the best dining experience in the Cedar Fairmount neighborhood of Cleveland Heights. I also love how the owner Jake is very engaged in the community and is incredibly friendly with the surrounding business owners. I'll choose this place again and again for calming ambiance, crafted cocktails, and delicious food. To many more years of Fairmount and at Fairmount!

The dining area was cute and offered video games to play. There students stopping in for take out as we sat and ate our pizza. The pizza was good. The beer was ok. It was not apparent where they brew the beer and they were out of a couple of beer selections. The Jolly Scholar is located on CWRU's campus and they have a parking lot. Usually parking is at a minimum. Overall it was ok, but I would probably choose another brewpub in the area for next meal out.

Weekday afternoon in the summertime; school's out so attendance was sparse. Open physical plant with lots of natural light, lots of high-tops inside with outside seating as well. The craft beers are made in house with a couple of guest taps. Our convenience sample of a couple of them found them to be solid renditions of APA, Pilsner and IPA. Falafel Nuggets are fun: one of our group loved them but another found them cumin-heavy enough to be a dealbreaker. The jalepeno edge brings just enough heat. Fish sandwich is excellent. This is a piece of battered fish and it is crackling crisp on the edges. This sandwich, served with pickles and shredded lettuce, is on a roll that is one of the closest I have had to Po-boy rolls outside of New Orleans. The onion rings are fantastic. Even though they are somewhat thicker cut, these breaded rings are crisp and delicious. For the most part, the onion stays with the ring. Would gladly get these rings again. Our group found the Barbecue pork quesadilla to be "very good." The barbecue sauce is on the sweeter side, and we think it has some cinnamon notes. We would happily return for bar-food bites and beverages: highly recommended.

I watched this awful looking dive bar transition from an eye sore in the neighborhood, to thriving bar, restaurant and small local band venue over the past 20 years. John & his wife have succeeded in turning the local eye sore into a restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating serving up some amazing food. Their burgers are out of this world! The chicken wings can hold their own over many of the people that claim to fame their own. The gyro's and other Greek dishes give a real taste of the other side of the world! I'm not a drinker, but they do have a full bar both inside and outside. They offer catering and delivery for your events! The outside venue has local bands play on certain nights and has a covered, heated patio with a cast-iron stove/fireplace. The place is always clean and the service is beyond reproach! The variety of whiskeys is unparallel to any other bar we've been in Cleveland! If you're visiting from out of town and you want a quick bite to eat that satisfies the palette, make sure you stop in and say hello! The wait for the food order (which was delicious) was reasonable given there was a private event happening, although it did seem the bartender was stretched a little thin, taking care of the 6-7 people at the bar, making drinks for another area, and putting glasses away from a previous shift. I had the meatballs and an Italian chopped salad, both very good. Overall, it was a nice experience.

Since the Metropolitan is home to an apartment complex, an upscale hotel, a rooftop bar, a dog park, a Pilates studio, a theater, a basement vault bar, and a "high-end" eatery, there's a whole lot of people constantly coming and going. Sitting at the four (five?) two-person tables situated right at the balcony railing means you can easily lean over and watch people come and go while sipping your drinks. Unlike the rest of the bars in the hotel, I was told there was no drink menu at the Ledger, and the bartender (who waited my table!) simply asked what flavor profile I was desiring tonight. The resulting drink he made was honestly good, and I really enjoyed it. Zero idea what was in it to ever order it again (and he was really overworked to ask!), but it was a neat experience of a "craft your own experience". There were a few beers on tap. I'm unsure about wine. Centro's food menu (restaurant downstairs) appears to be available here. There's a single unisex bathroom within steps of the bar, and the regular hotel lobby bathrooms are down a floor. As conference rooms are nearby this bar, I'd also probably guess there's a large conference room bathroom block too, but I didn't find that one. The rest of the bars and restaurants in the Metropolitan tend to take most of the attention here, and the Ledger has a much more laid-back, chill vibe. A lot of people were watching a sports game (baseball, I think?) on the TV behind me. With the smaller space and wide "open" area of the full lobby, the Ledger feels like your calmest, quietest bar option out of the available places at the Metropolitan.
