If you're considering Skeeter's Auto for major engine work, document every visit, record all communications, and confirm warranty coverage in writing Skeeter's Auto repeatedly returned my Audi broken, ignored the 1-year warranty, and refused to correct a recurring oil-system failure the has led to internal turbo leaking. I'm documenting my full experience with Skeeter's Auto in Houston and its service manager, Jessica, regarding my 2012 Audi Q5. Despite paying over $5,200 and having a 1-year / 100,000-mile parts-and-labor warranty printed on my invoice, my vehicle has been returned to me multiple times with the same problem--and as of October 18 2025, it is still smoking while idling in park. May 29 2025 - Dropped off the vehicle for a "check-engine" light and low-oil-pressure warning. Car was fully drivable at drop-off. June 13 2025 - Picked up after paying $3,196.23 for repairs that later proved unnecessary. The true issue--a failed oil pump--was never addressed. The car broke down the same day. June 16 2025 - Returned to Skeeter's. They found metal shavings in the oil-pump filter, confirming the prior repair was misdiagnosed. The oil pump was then replaced. July 3 2025 - Picked up again. July 5 2025 - Car broke down once more. July 8 2025 - GM admitted the earlier misdiagnosis and said the engine now needed replacement. July 31 2025 - Authorized an engine replacement for $2,005.99, bringing my total paid to $5,202.22. The invoice lists a 1-year / parts and labor warranty. August 14 2025 - Technician D.R. confirmed on my recorded call (fast-forward to the 4:45-minute mark) that he removed the turbocharger to pull the engine. August 20 2025 (~5 PM) - Vehicle marked "passed quality control" before discovering a leak and returned to me. Skeeter's claimed the leak had been "repaired before pickup." September 15 2025 - Contacted the GM about a clicking noise. The car was also stuttering, though I initially overlooked it. Scheduled to drop off when husband got there was told it was too late in the day, come back. October 7 2025 - Vehicle began smoking from the tailpipes and leaking oil again--only 57 days after the engine replacement. October 10 2025 - Returned to Skeeter's. Quoted about $3,200 for a new turbo kit. I declined, because Skeeter's had already handled the turbo during the engine installation. Note: turbo was fine which is why it was reinstalled. I even offered to purchase the replacement parts myself for them to install under warranty, but that offer was refused. October 15 2025 - The same oil leak first identified in August was marked "repaired" again. This proved the leak was recurring, not new, and existed since the engine was installed. The continuing leak from August through October caused internal turbo failure. The car was returned to me still smoking! October 18 2025 - Today, the vehicle continues to smoke, despite multiple "repairs." See today's video recording Jessica (owner?) has reviewed the invoices, photos, videos, audio recordings (including the 4:45 turbo removal statement), and emails referenced here and still refuses to honor the 1-year parts and labor --even though, according to Skeeter's own records, I have driven only 3,000 miles since the engine installation. Every estimate and invoice from 2024 through August 2025 shows no mention of turbo or exhaust issues until October 2025, when Skeeter's first introduced the $3,200 turbo quote. The turbo system was healthy before Skeeter's touched it which is why it was reinstalled and all failures occurred less than 2 months after engine replacement. Skeeter's Auto has ignored the written warranty obligations on my invoice and repeatedly returned my vehicle in failed condition. I have filed formal complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation. If you're considering Skeeter's Auto for major engine work, document every visit, record all communications, and confirm warranty coverage in writing--because in my case, their "warranty" meant nothing once their own work caused the problem. read more

My more recent experience with Skeeters has been absolutely horrendous. I brought my car in a little over a year ago because it was having electric issues. They told me that they couldn't find the electrical issue I was having because it was "intermittent" but they did suggest that I get my brakes redone because the brake pedal was soft and a lot of the brake system was no good. They "fixed" my brakes and sent me on my way without resolving the electrical issue. I spent about $2000 for them to replace some of my brake system. I brought my car in again recently for the same electrical issue. And this time around they tried to tell me that they couldn't find the electrical issue but that a bunch of my suspension needed to be replaced and that would be around $4000. I explained to Louis that I've already brought my car in for this issue and that they keep failing to solve the issue, but continue to suggest other things that I need to get done for multiple thousands of dollars. At some point in the conversation, Luis briefly suggested that he didn't suggest I get my car, which I did not recall him saying. After this conversation, they were suddenly able to "fix" my electrical issue by putting a new starter (I think) on. (I put fix in quotes because who knows if it's actually fixed) I brought my car back in the other day because the brake pedal went soft again only to be told that I needed a new ABS system and that it would take a month for it to get here. I told Lewis that I wasn't able to wait that long for my car to be fixed because I have to go to work. When I got to Skeeters to pick my car up, I asked him to find the part of the conversation where he said he wouldn't suggest getting my car fixed. One sentence out of a 20 minute long conversation, "I wouldn't suggest it". I guess that was what I was supposed take away from a 20 minute long conversation about everything that's wrong and unsafe with my car. When I got to Skeeters to pick up my car, I asked Luis to find the audio from that conversation and Louis proceeded to show me about how he suggested that I don't get my car fixed (I'm sure the owner loves that) even though they made it sound detrimental to my safety if I don't. Luis also told me, "when you take it somewhere else and they tell you the same thing that we told you, you're not gonna bring it back here because you're not gonna wanna admit that you were wrong". (I have that recorded) And I never said they were "wrong" and I was "right", I said I can't not have my vehicle for that long. Luis will put words in your mouth that you never said and will twist the situation to make it sound like the customer is at fault. He also told me, "I wouldn't put my gf in your car, I wouldn't put my sister in your car, I wouldn't put you in your car but I have no personal connection with you" I've already mentioned this to several people, and they could not believe that Louis had the audacity to speak to me that way. They will put you in a position to make you feel like you are not safe driving your car and then when your car continues to not function properly after they've already worked on it, they will blame you for choosing to get it fixed. Skeeters is good. Skeeters is really good. A bit expensive, but good. My experience at skeeters was from what I thought was the beginning of a scare of a transmission issue. My vehicle had all the tell tell signs of a transmission going bad. I wanted someone more trusting than only a transmission shop cause their answer about transmissions is always "yes you need one". So I went to Skeeters as it's not far from me plus I knew it was a full service auto shop. After speaking with someone literally after 2 minutes of pulling up, I was told that with my type of vehicle that it could be another issue. I left my vehicle there and they brought me home. About 4 hours later they called to tell me that the issue was not a transmission issue but a much less serious issue. I was overjoyed. I left it with them overnight and was able to pick it up the next evening. My vehicle was like a brand new purchase. The cost however was very expensive because the part they had to replace wasn't something easy to get too. I could go into much more detail but why? The point is, they have great service and can be trusted. Once they tell you what it is, then you can trust it is just that. Not every shop is like that. So I don't have a high trust level for auto repair places. Being that I am not the smartest, nor the dumbest when it comes to cars I can cut through the bullshit pretty quickly and see if a place is going to rob me or going to be legit. Skeeters is legit. I've taken 3 cars there for maintenance, every time they are honest about the timeline, give you an upfront quote, and stick to it. One occasion they didn't include gaskets but didn't charge me for them because it wasn't what was quoted. Hell even my dad goes here for when he drives his car, which is rare but still. They've taken great care of me, and my vehicles and have to say they are trustworthy. Kind. And will work with you. Hard to find when there are so many shady ones out there. I left my vehicle with them after they said they could do a simple repair on it. Week passed and I was told that they were waiting to n screws. Another week passed and they wanted to do repairs I did not mentioned at all. Finally spoke to the owner and she got them to do the simple job. Go here! I could not have asked for a better experience. They are knowledgeable, friendly, affordable, and all around awesome. They offer shuttle services if you live within a certain number of miles, I think 10 miles. I had a baby and an elementary aged kid with me and so of course I used that shuttle service. The drivers were so nice and helpful. They opened our doors and carried the heavy car seat to and from the car. They were more helpful than my husband ;) They also have complimentary beverages and candy. Terry was my advisor and he made sure that my experience was stellar. I called around - turns out no one had my preferred tires in stock. Visited TireRack.com and learned about installers and their process. Paranoia rounds it's nasty head - of course I'm worried since I've never ordered tires online and had a shop install them locally. I found Skeeters through TireRack and they had good reviews. I spoke to Richard at Skeeters, who ended up being really friendly and not pushy at all. He reassured me of the process, so I placed the order with TireRack. He collected my info after I confirmed the order. A few days later, I get a call from Richard saying my tires are in (sweet! one day early). We set up an appt for early the next morning (7AM) because they have wifi, and I'd rather not miss work. I show up the next day 10 til 7, and they're already there opening up doors. I get directed to the waiting area - which was cozy and quiet. Their wifi was speedy, and I was actually able to help a client while I was there! (I'm relocating my office to their waiting room, pending approval by Richard). The install was done in approximately 2 hours; just as expected (installed and performed an alignment). Richard came in and we spoke about the work done, and he explained alignments to me. I paid my bill and off I went. Immediate driving tests afterwards are great, and overall the experience was better than I had hoped. I'll definitely go to Skeeters again next time I order tires! Skeeter's Auto Service has been able to identify and repair problems other mechanics, including the dealership, have been stumped by. Rather than throwing away money buying unnecessary parts at other shops, as they start replacing things rather than diagnosing the problem, it is absolutely worth taking your vehicle to Skeeter's for repair. They get it right the first time, and it's worth the few extra dollars in time saved and frustration avoided. The service advisors are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and can translate "my car is broken, it does this" into automotive speak for the skilled mechanics, and then explain your repair work in full back to you in terms you can understand. They take the stress out of the situation. The extended shop hours work well, too, for commuters. And your vehicle always comes back to you in better condition than you dropped it off - exterior wiped down, tires vacuumed, no hint that greasy hands ever touched your car. read more

I've been hearing about this place for years and have always wanted to take my car there since moving to Cypress. My hubby had a place he liked so I let him take care of it. After not being pleased with several repairs to my SUV, I finally decided to put my big girl britches on and take care of my car. I knew I needed a major brake job, oil change, fluids checked, etc. I took my car to Skeeters. Told them I needed the brakes done and wanted to know what else I needed to start budgeting for or if they saw anything else. I received call the next day from Terry. He told me everything the car needed and the big price for it all. Then we went over how much the brake job was (including 4 new rotors which I expected because the last time my hubby changed the brake pads he had the rotors turned and we were told it was the last time they could be turned). He gave me a price on everything I needed to do with fluids, recommended changing out the serpentine belt as my car is right under 100K. Also told me I needed some other work done but it could wait until later. I decided to do everything but the one big item that could wait. When I went to pick up my car, I was impress that my car was washed and the checkout process was quick and easy. It has been about a month and I am so happy with the work I had done. I could have had some of the fluid work done cheaper but I feel better knowing that I'm getting good quality products and feel I will get my money's worth with my car either lasting longer or needing less work. I liked that they didn't push all the work on me or try to scare me into getting the work done. They told me what I needed to get done now, what things they recommended and what could wait. My parents have been coming here for many, many years. I recently had a strange brake issue, where all of a sudden, the ABS would lock up while driving on the highway. I initially took it to the dealership and they came back with a $4200 estimate to completely replace all of the brake parts/system. The issue was that the brake fluid had been compromised (i.e. either the wrong brake fluid was put in or something else got in there and cause the issue to happen). I took it to Casey to have him and your group determine the issue(s). After taking a look, they also determined that the fluid had been compromised. However, instead of suggesting to replace the whole brake system, they decided to just replace the master cylinder and then flush the brake fluid a few times. I was gone for a bit so in my absence, they did take the truck out and put on several miles (which I was perfectly fine with) to ensure the issue had been resolved. I can happily say that the issue was resolved and I wanted to send a huge thank you to Casey and the whole group at Skeeter's!! This used to be my regular mechanic. I had work done on 3 different cars, and we always trusted our service writer. He left or has been on leave, and Skeeter's is just not the same. I took my Toyota in for an AC problem. They quoted the repair at approximately 800$ for the blower motor, supposedly due to the extensive labor requirement to access the motor. I shopped the repair at the dealer and another neighborhood repair place. Toyota dealer quoted work at about 300$ and the other repair place at 245$. Obviously we went with the more cost efficient option and were not disappointed! When my fiancé addressed the issue of price quote with Skeeter's, just to alert them of our concern and history w the business, we were given excuses and justification. We were even told that when repair was submitted to other shop it would neither be fully warranteed nor the quotes price honored- neither was the case. Work was done for quoted price and has a standard warranty. Skeeters has lost our business because there was no effort to provide reasonably priced service and no effort to revisit the estimate that was 500$ more than the dealer. Maybe we would trust them again if our old service writer was back, but it's too late now- we kind somebody honest and nearby. read more

Skeeter's has been doing a great job taking care of our cars for over 5 years. One of the things that we really like is that the service guys don't try to sell you a bunch of unnecessary services. Instead they sell you services that you need so that your vehicle is maintained the way it should be. Skeeter's is not cheap but their prices are fair, and they do stand-behind and guaranty their work (like no one else does: 36 months, 36,000 miles I believe). Hours are Monday - Friday 7 AM to 6 PM and offer a free shuttle service. They are closed weekends and major holidays because they believe that family and family time is important. I've sent my son here twice to a quote for work done on his car. Apparently they see a young teenage kid and decide he is too dumb to know the difference. TWICE they have quoted a ridiculous rate, and also quoted for work that didn't even need to be done. First round was to get a CV joint & front wheel bearings replaced. It was quoted close to $1000 at Skeeter's. Hah! I took this over to another auto repair shop down the street, & they did the work for half the price. The 2nd time my son went to Skeeter's, they quoted him $200 to install a battery power cable. REALLY? Galson's did it for free. I was surprised that both times he was quoted a super inflated price after reading all the rave reviews on this site. Just be careful when you get a quote - do a comparison. read more
