We came at 3:30pm on a thurs. Today. People were inside but the place was locked up.would not let anyone inside. We walked around the whole building and nothing. Doors stayed locked. Hours said they were open at 11am. Another couple, older went to the doors, knocked, and no one came to open it. They said if the place doesn't want their business, they won't get it. I used to enjoy coming here several times a month for salad bar, but it has become extremely disappointing in recent weeks. The chicken wings have been replaced with mini corndogs and chicken nuggets of poor quality. I have visited the Sizzler in Fresno, and found that they have a variety of items--taquitos, onion rings, and other items on the hot bar for less money! Any way, today was the last straw! As I waited patiently at the register to pay, the person who I surmise was the manager curtly asked me if I was there to pickup an order. I responded that I wished to order the salad bar with a diet soda. He took my money, and told me that they would deliver plates and drink to my table. After a several minute wait, I realized that he was busy assisting another customer...so I finally got the attention of the wait staff to bring my plates and drink. As I selected my food items, I discovered the potato wedges were so heavily salted as to be inedible, and the taco shells were so fragile as to defy any attempt to fill them. The fresh fruit on the salad bar tasted faintly rancid as if they had bee refrigerated for too long...and the soft serve ice cream machine has been inoperable for months (I'm certain a replacement could be readily found at a restaurant supply store) Touchingly, the various toppings are available on the counter near the machine (how long have they been there, one wonders) My next Sizzler experience will be elsewhere... read more

Horrible customer service. Waited 15-20 minutes to be checked on and had to ask them myself about our bread, and our "waiter" forgot. After that our meals weren't that great either. Paid over 10 bucks for a handful of fries and 3 tiny chicken tenders. They wanted me to pay almost the whole price for "3" extra tenders. Waiter yet still barley checked up on us. It has been many years since we've eaten at Sizzlers so we thought we would give it a try. The food was ok, but was pretty pricey. The restaurant appeared clean and the salad bar looked really good. The best part of our visit, however, was that we finally found real customer service in our server Fey. She was pleasant and kept an eye on us to make sure everything was okay. When I was presented with a cold baked potato, she took it back and gave me a really hot one. Went to sizzler . My friend had a steak. 2 hours later she had food poisoning. I contacted the manager and received a gift certificate for 19.99. We went back the next week and ordered the same steak. I asked for medium well. It came out well done with a little plastic piece that said med rare . You would think a chain restaurant would be consistent. However the quality at this location has gone down significantly the past few years . While at the same time they raise prices. Save yourself some $ and go elsewhere. I also have heard from 3 other friends who have come down with food poisoning at this location in the last year read more

Great prices, clean environment and friendly staff. My family are regulars there and I must say that every time we walk out of Sizzlers we always have full bellies. I'm conflicted because its the only place I know of in locally where I can get a salad with lots of vegetable toppings, however every else outside of the salad bar does not taste or look appetizing, from the taco meat to the mystery dessert. In sum, I used to go here for years and I loved the salad and soft serve. The hot food, not at all. I went here for the salad, but would never go to this place to order hot food. All the hot food seems it is heated up rather than freshly prepared. I do miss the salad because I do not consume here any more after hearing frequent and consistent rumors regarding pest control visits at night and the uncleanliness in the kitchen. I like to eat out a lot and I ordered a steak here thinking I would get something good. Anyways, they had to take it back twice just to get it to medium rare because they couldn't cook it right. And on top of this they gave me a baked potatoe that was the smallest thing ever. I should have just gone to apple bees or somewhere else instead because once I left I was still hungry and dropped by mcdonalds for a big mac to help fill me up. Needless to say, I did not tip. My boyfriend & I went last night for a late dinner and both of us simply had the salad bar...I'm giving it three stars based on the service & the cleanliness, the service was great the whole way through, and frankly we all know that poor service can ruin the best of food. But, as for the actual meal I was slightly disappointed. We both grabbed potato wedges and they were ice cold & I also had the bread from the salad bar (the one that's placed by the soups) and it was rock hard & stale, I could've knocked someone out had I thrown it at them - which I will admit that the papa's & bread thing was especially disappointing since I've been on a no carb/no starch eatting thing for months & I 'cheat' one day a week... so my 'cheat' got wasted on that :-( I also tried the broccoli cheddar soup - it had a scorched flavor to it, so I'm sure it was singed at the bottom of the heating container... other than that, I ate lettuce & veggies & pinapple and that was all great... but overall, the food portion of the experience was pretty disappointing for the price paid. read more

The night we were there, it was busy, but the place was clean, and the staff friendly, and the service was very good. Even the younger guests seemed well behaved! I hadn't been to a Sizzler in years, and was surprised to find the variety and prices good, and the food above average. I've not been to a sizzler in years and decided to take my daughter there as it was close to her home. With that said I was severely disappointed in both the food, state of the restaurant and the service. The floors were dirty and seemingly unswept in what seamed like days. The ribs that I had were satisfactory but slathered in BBQ sauce. The Lobster tail that my daughter had with her steak remained on her plate as it was rubbery and tasteless. Lastly, and I'm a big advocate of good service. It took nearly 10 minutes before our waitress even came to the table to say hello. Only after my empty drink glass sitting on the side of the table for approximately 10 minutes I walked up to the counter and got my own refill. The waitress was quite pleased with her self when she brought the little tray for her tip to be left in but did not ask if we needed anything. Even with this experience we sat at the table for about 20-30 minutes just catching up. It was then that I noticed that the waitress had not even come to take away our dirty plates and such. Trust me when I say that there were plenty of them to be in the way. All in all. Poor service, tasteless and just SO-SO food and an atmosphere that I never want to experience again. read more

I always like the salad bar but the other food is not great but pretty bland but I keep coming back when I am in Merced. The Manteca Sizzler is better and you get a little more there for variety. The Mexican food in the buffet is tasteless. Still, the salad bar is what I go for. I don't like having to ask for a plate when I go around the buffet the second or third time or ask for another soup bowl. I guess there was alot of people just ordering no salad bar and then go up and help themselves anyway. I hate to be treated like a thief like the rest of them. The servers are always nice but have to handle too many tables. Hire another gal or two. Not really worth the price. I got the beef tips and the gravy was very heavy tasting, tasted like motor oil. I made the mistake of taking my inlaws here, I was so embarrased!! I wanted to hide and not come out. First we paid over one hundered dollars in cash for a large group. No coupons!! We ordered stakes. We waited over twenty mintues fine it was a large group. But then the orders came out and we recieved green stakes. Food was tasteless. I did not know what to do. Out of polietness my group smiled and ate the horrible stakes that I paid for. I told them not to, I did not want them sick. But never again. Last time I dined there the kitchen door was wide open and you could hear the waitresses yelling at the cooks. VERY unprofessional. This was one of the top 5 dining experiences of my life. The food was excellent, my order was correct (I'm a picky eater, ha ha), the store was clean and appealing to the senses, the customer service was excellent, and the price couldn't be beat. My husband and I ate for 32 dollars, which is more than we would pay at other all you can eat places. Normally for a dinner, other places cost us between 24 to 30 dollars, but paying a little more, and leaving a good tip was well worth it! We ordered a burger a piece (which we ended up taking home, and still tasted great warmed up!) and then did the endless salad bar. The variety at the salad bar isn't huge BUT it was quality over quantity. We have been to quite a few buffets in the Merced and Madera areas and this was by far the best one I've been to. I opened a Yelp account solely to commend this restaurant. I had lost hope with the food service industry, but this establishment has something good going on here.
