Our experience at La Tia Juana on Sunday afternoon was unbelievably disappointing. We were kicked out for "defending ourselves" after dealing with a rude girl at the table next to us who clearly felt protected because she knew "Sal." When she needed to pass by, she made a rude hand gesture telling me to move. I told her to give me a second while I grabbed my cup and let her know she could've asked politely, but instead chose to be disrespectful. When I let her know she didn't need to be rude, the waitress came over telling us not to fight, even though I wasn't fighting at all. The girl bumped me twice, tried to trip me as I walked past her table, and even said "eww" to me. The vibe and energy from their table were extremely uncomfortable. We kept ignoring them until we couldn't anymore and somehow we were the ones kicked out. Our table spent over $300 while they were just drinking water, yet the restaurant chose to believe them and completely disregarded what we were dealing with. We were having a blast with everyone else that day and had zero issues until that table decided to target us. The whole situation was unfair, and we were in disbelief. We will never go back. we went in with the family got over charged for fish stick tacos and burnt shrimp tacos. the only thing good here were the grilled shrimp on the michelada rim and the spicy edemame. horrible waitress who was not friendly a all plus some of the items on the menu was not available so why have it as a option. we ended up paying over $200 for horrible burnt food and bad service. read more

I'm not from Merced, I came to visit my family for my vacation and they recommended this place. This place is disgusting. The management, the customer service, and the food. I never post reviews but this had to be my worst experience eating out. They don't clean, they have bugs. Chairs are super uncomfortable, but the drinks are okay so I'll give them that. Customer service wasn't good. Or even ok. Waited 15 minutes for someone to talk to us. Took our order and didn't have fresh mint for first drink. Mint was all withered and dried out in fridge they were laughing about it. Not too sure who Pancho is but he needs to go. We walked in on a Monday Evening & we were greeted promptly, then someone came and asked us if we'd like to sit at the bar or table. We opted for a table. Ordered a Michelada for their promotion of $11 Michelada Monday. Was charged full price and Michelada was not good, completely lacked flavor. Only NFL was on, we had to ask for the dodgers game. If it's a sports bar seems like there would be different things playing considering it's playoffs for baseball. Eventually pancho came out to change 2 screens for us which happened to be BEHIND US, didn't apologize for the inconvenience that it was BEHIND us, he also made a comment about dodgers fan, we seemed to inconvenience him. We Ordered buffalo wings, jalepeno poppers, a burger, and chicken tenders. Eventually our server came back to tell us they didn't have any jalepeno poppers, we opted not to get anything else. All of our food came out at the same time. So it did take them a while to tell us they were out of jalepeno poppers, because our food came out right after, seems like they may have forgotten about them. Our wings came out wrong, lemon pepper was brought out and we ordered buffalo. We let our server know and she immediately took them back and apologized. Quite a bit of time passes by and that's when Pancho goes to the table behind us to ask something about wings, the guests behind us were confused. Pancho meant to come to our table and mistakenly went to theirs. He asked us if we ordered the wings, we said yes, we ordered buffalo and those were lemon pepper. He then asked well what was wrong with them did you not like them. We said we ordered buffalo, he said oh she told me lemon pepper I didn't know they were suppose to be buffalo, then I started to tell him ok but that's not on us, the commutation error between server and what I assume is the cook, is not the guests fault and he should not be confronting paying customers about it. He started to get very defensive when I kept saying that's not our fault that it wasn't communicated to you why are you coming at us. He's like well I have to tell my boss when there's issues with the food my boss is asking me what the problem is. I said ok but again that has nothing to do with us why are you here, the server took them back and said she would bring the correct ones out so why are you here. He then ignored me and proceeded to attempt to talk to my husband as if I wasn't there. Seems like he has an issue with females. Completely disrespectful of him. His approach could have been much different. We understand mistakes happen we weren't upset but his approach lacked customer service when again WE WERE NOT UPSET. He completely ruined the experience. If it weren't for the servers apologizing we would have just left. Had high hopes for this place considering it took them a very long time to finally open. The food was just ok, and if they can't nail a Michelada then something is off. When the wings did come out correctly only 8 were served when 10 were ordered and we were charged for the 10, guess the 2 we first bit into when we discovered they were wrong were deducted from the fresh batch.
