The food was a bit bland. The steak was tender and cooked just the way I asked for it which was medium rare but very under seasoned and the sauteed mushrooms were also very under seasoned. The baked potato was ok and the Malibu chicken was really good. My friend had the steak and unlimited shrimp with fries he really enjoyed his food. The service was ok our waitress was busy helping other guests so we had to wait a few times to get more napkins and to-go boxes which was a bit frustrating. Been here a few times , it's a decent alternative to the other restaurants in this area. Salad bar was stocked well. The only issue I have consistently is the desserts. The banana pudding is always wiped out and the ice cream is partially melted . The servers always seem tired and bothered. Came here for dinner because I was craving clam chowder, and this is the only place I know of that serves it all the time. It was about 6:30 on a Thursday and it wasn't as busy as I expected. We didn't have to wait long to order and found our seat. I got salad bar 13.49 for dinner. :O. And hubby ordered the onion bacon bbq burger. The clam chowder was bland and just ok. The cheesy toast had a funky taste even my hubby tasted. The fruit seemed under ripe. Onion rings, chicken wings and nachos were ok to good. All in all we spent 42 and change for two people with a soda and in my opinion not worth the price. I would of rather had sushi and paid less. read more

My hubby and I were so excited to be going back after covid. Boys the quality has dropped and prices up. I ordered a Malibu chicken, bp hubby got steak and lobster. Wish I took a picture of the 'chicken". It was grayish and the coating was different. I had 3 bites abd no more. Waitress never came to refill our teas. Horrible horrible. Went to Dad's favorite place for dinner... luckily our spirits were hi celebrating my Dad on Fathers Day. Understandably lines were long. Not a problem. That's where the best part of the service from staff ended. 1. The young lady taking our order was terse and unfriendly, taking orders like a bad "SNL" skit. 2. Beware Veterans and active military -web says 15% they gave 5%. After we brought that to managers attention, he said "yeah, it dropped 5% to 5% during pandemic"...huh? So we're still short 5%... "oh, I don't know, I'll call corporate tonight," he says. Oh, that's a great way to handle what is a simple $10 overpayment by a military veteran. 3. Food arrived 29 minutes later...not bad... for only three of the four people. I, veteran, did not receive my food because, "the cook didn't see it on the order." She apologized and said it would be a few minutes. I split my friend's chicken dinner until mine arrived. 30 minutes later, still no dinner and my mom dad and friend have all finished. My friend went to get adjustment to bill. They told us "we'll put it in a to go container for you." Like that was a favor. Complete disregard go the fact we'd been in the awkward position of not wanting to ruin the night for my parents...especially my father, also a veteran of the US Armed forces. I don't usually right in this app, but felt it important enough to share because of their complete arrogance for basic customer service. Don't go. I only gave this 2 stars and not 1 because I like the food and the servers are great. The biggest problem and turn off was the cashier at the front. Wednesday, September 26th at 7:15 pm, i was greeted by a very hostile and angry cashier. She slammed the bowl on the plate for the salad, and rudely offered my side options. Her anger and aggression left a sour taste in my mouth the whole visit I was here. It sad to see people in customer service get too comfortable in their jobs and selectively offer good service as their mood or bias allows. Also she's doing utencils angrily. If she doesnt want to be in customer service then she shouldn't. This restaurant is doing great and doesnt need to be bogged down by a bad apple or 2. Safe to say wont be coming back if that cashier is here. And its not like we are going through a food drive to be rude to us, this a steak house and we pay top dollar to eat here. read more

We eat here often. Maybe it was just a bad night but we arrived @ 7 pm and most of the salad bins were near empty. It was the same for the clam chowder. In the hour we were present, the bins were not refilled. They have added spaghetti and there were no wings. The spaghetti bin was also empty. The steak was over cooked. The "ice cream" was watery. Salad bar is always fresh with many options. Wish they had more hot food options on the buffet but the salad bar does make up for it. Our waitress Sandy is always super friendly and nice! My steak was cooked perfectly. The salad bar was clean, fully stocked, and had a good amount of choices. When you order the Shrimp Trio, you receive a large portion of shrimp. I decided to take my mom and dad for their anniversary here. We were greeted at the register by a very friendly lady and the order was a very smooth experience. When I went to the mens restroom I was very surprised to see that there was so much napkins on the floor. The restroom looked liked it had not been checked regularly making sure the restroom is stocked and inviting for the guests clearly that was not done. Upon leaving the restroom I was ready to chow down on the wonderful Salad Bar the setup was great and very pleasing to the eye. I served myself some Broccoli Cheese, got some chicken wings and some chicken salad for round 1. As I started to eat I noticed the soup was not at all hot it was barely luke warm and the fried chicken wings were really old you can tell they been there for hours and no one seemed to replace them. As a manager these are core things you need to check in you restaurant the temperature of the food and rotation of product. It shows no periodic checks are being done to monitor this. What really set me over the edge was the attitude of the general manager that evening. I noticed his employees even if it was not busy some of them leaning on the counter talking to other employees while a few were actually doing their work. Couldn't the manager send someone to check the restrooms, do some table touches, look to see if some of the food items have been out long than their normal time obviously none of this was done. Now perhaps this service was done because the restaurant was going to close in an hour and a half however promoting your brand to excellence should be done from opening the doors till closing and clearly I had to find this out on my parents anniversary dinner. read more

This is the worst steak I have ever eaten. The fries were cold and the piece of steak (if thats what they call it ) was crap. The Malibu chicken was a piece of battered frozen chicken patty. I really dont see how this place stays in business. They even ran out of coffee. How do you run out of coffee? Even the smallest of eating establishments have two pots for that reason. I will never eat at another Sizzlers as long as I live. The manager listened to my complaint and didnt offer any satisfaction at all. I really dont like to complain because it is so negative.This is the first ever complaint I have made but I feel if I can save anyone $70 bucks then it is worth it. read more

WOW!!!! I typically do not like going to chain restaurants because too often you are just a number, but nothing could be further from the truth at the Merced Sizzler. From the time my family (my wife and I and our 7 kids) walked in until we left, I felt like I was having a dinner with friends! One of the managers, Mike, helped us at the registers and took our order and sat us. I can say that I have NEVER received such great service, he was very friendly and made a dinner at Sizzler special...no idea how someone can do that! He didn't just do that for my family, but seemed to be doing the same for everyone. We got a lot of food for what we paid, which is important in a family of 9. The server (sorry did not pay attention to her name) was on top of our drinks and plates the whole time and was just as nice. The food was great and I just cant say enough about how wonderful my experience here was. We will most definitely be back, and I can't THANK Mike and the Merced Sizzler staff enough!!! read more

We won't be back. While all the staff was very pleasant and worked very hard; our server had sooo many tables to serve and wait on that it took forever to get another plate or soup bowl or beverage when needed one. The salad bar, well . . . I put mixed greens on my plate and noticed some was spoiled; when I moved it on my plate, black liquid was there. Not a very good start to our Sizzler experience. I had to wait for a long time for a new plate. Other salads were OK. Quite a time later I did notice they put fresh greens out - and as when they restock any of the items, what was left in the previous container gets put onto the top of the new food. It just seems pricey for what you get - and sometimes we don't want to eat big; it would be nice if they would have a one-trip thru option. read more
