On June 5, 2026, my wife, daughter, mother-in-law, and I visited the Sizzler restaurant in Merced, California, for what we expected would be a pleasant family dinner. Unfortunately, our experience was overshadowed by the unprofessional conduct of Manager Leah, leaving us feeling embarrassed, humiliated, and singled out in front of other customers. When we arrived, the young employee who took our order was polite, helpful, and professional. My mother-in-law treated the family to dinner, while I separately purchased a salad bar on a different transaction. When completing the purchase, I was asked if I wanted my receipt and declined, as I did not anticipate needing it for a simple salad bar purchase. After we were seated, my wife went to get her salad. At that point, Manager Leah approached our table and demanded to see proof of purchase for the salad bar, stating that her server, Mya, had informed her of something concerning our order. Her approach was abrupt, accusatory, and inappropriate. We immediately explained that the salad bar had been purchased and suggested she verify the transaction with the employee who had rung up the order. Despite being given multiple opportunities to confirm the purchase with her staff, Leah continued to question us. I ultimately had to leave my table, locate the employee who processed the transaction, and bring her over to confirm that the salad bar had indeed been purchased. Being publicly questioned and treated as though we were attempting to steal was humiliating and made our entire family uncomfortable, especially as other customers watched the interaction unfold. When we asked Leah why she chose to confront us before verifying the facts with her staff, she responded that "everyone does it." This explanation was unacceptable. We are not "everyone," and we did not observe her approaching other customers who were using the salad bar. We then asked how she intended to address the embarrassment and discomfort caused by the situation. Her response was simply that she was sorry and that there was nothing else she could do. Afterward, she retreated to the back of the restaurant and did not make any further effort to resolve the matter. Another employee, Ashley, provided us with the corporate contact information after we requested it. Due to the humiliation we experienced, we asked that our meals be boxed up because we no longer felt comfortable remaining in the restaurant. What makes this situation particularly troubling is the feeling that we were unfairly singled out. While we were being publicly questioned over a paid salad bar, we observed other situations in the restaurant that did not appear to receive the same level of scrutiny. This left us questioning why our family was treated differently. No customer should leave a restaurant wondering whether they were targeted because of their appearance, race, sexual orientation, or any other personal characteristic. We believe this matter deserves serious attention from Sizzler's management and corporate leadership. Customers should be treated with dignity and respect, and managers should verify facts before publicly accusing paying guests of wrongdoing. We hope Sizzler takes this complaint seriously, provides additional training to its management staff, and ensures that no other family experiences the embarrassment and humiliation that we endured.

If there's a restaurant that is NOT on the U.S. continental East Coast, its Sizzler! I remember seeing one in Orlando a very long time ago, but no more. The closest Sizzler location is in Puerto Rico from Florida. My partner and I were visiting his uncle near this location and wanted to have a good lunch with him. I've heard they remodeled this location and it looks good! You order at the counter first and the menus are on the wall. Lots of great options for steak, shrimp, unlimited salad bar, pasta, burgers, ribs, and more. The staff and servers were welcoming and friendly as well. I ordered the Steak (medium-rare) & Unlimited Crispy Shrimp with fries. My partner had the unlimited salad bar and uncle had Steak & Shrimp Scampi Fettuccine with unlimited salad bar option. My steak was cooked nicely as medium-rare and easy to cut and eat. The crispy shrimps were like "popcorn" shrimps a little bigger than a quarter size. The salad bar looked clean and amazing and could see both my partner and uncle enjoyed creating their salad mountain. Also, they had a taco bar, pasta bar and dessert bar (soft-served ice cream, toppings and brownies). Overall, completely satisfied with our meals and did not disappoint for us. Very jealous that uncle lives less than a mile from this Sizzler and wished we had them back in Florida. Definitely going to visit again next time for more items!

After a long day of driving visiting Grizzly Falls of Sequoia National Park, on the way back passing Merced, we looked for a sizzler since we just wanted soups and salads. Luckily this one was on the way and we stopped by. The place is in a big shopping center so we had plenty of places to park. The restaurant looks new and very clean. It's been a few years since we've been in a Sizzler. The salad bar is the middle of the restaurant as usual. There are many steak specials, but we're only interested in the full salad bar. The price has been up since then, $20 per person now. We did expect that because of all inflation. Quite reasonable although more expensive than some steak and shrimps on special for $17. The cheese toasts here are always the best, crispy and tasty, perfect with soups. The beef soup was very good, although the clam chowder I used to eat wasn't so rich as now. The salad bar has plenty of things to choose from that's why I like. Chicken and spinach salads are always excellent. We also made our own salads with many tasty dressings. The hot foods included with chicken wings, spaghetti and meatballs, tacos, chips and salsa with guacamole. We enjoyed the soups and salads very well. The service was so excellent and attentive with a young lady named Natalia.

I for got to save the food photos. I had a feast. It was my grandmother birthday so we had a party of 16. And I had the triolicious with a salad bar. 5 plates I destroyed. Food was ok for a franchise. The staff was amazing and super nice! Sizzler cool with me.

Seriously thee cleanest Sizzler I've ever been in since the 90's lol. Salad bar looked fresh and clean. I literally only wanted a salad for lunch and this place hit the spot. It does include a hot bar as well...that unfortunately didn't look at appetizing(kind of dried out across the board, also $20 for a salad bar during lunch?! A bit high even with a hot bar BUT delicious nonetheless. Service was great. He came by my table frequently to make sure everything was good.

Hey so what is up with the salad bar at the Sizzler in Merced? They give you one plate for the endless salad bar. In Turlock plates are available for customers to get as they need them. I shouldn't have to ask for a new plate each time I want to visit the salad bar...Also I was never asked during my entire time there if I wanted a refill on my iced tea. read more

yadhira at sizzler is hands down the best server i've ever had! she was so friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed before we even had to ask. her positive energy and genuine kindness made the whole experience so much better. it's rare to find someone who truly cares about their customers, but she went above and beyond. if you go to sizzler, ask for yadhira! she'll make your visit amazing! i've gone so many times before and the other servers have always been a bit rude , last time i got a girl named Mayra who was there before and i thankfully did not get her again this time because she really made me uncomfortable! i'm just so glad ! read more

This evening was the first time we went in to the Merced location since their remodel. The new environment was bright and inviting. The service was very friendly and efficient. Destiny was wonderful to us and the tables she was serving around us. We enjoyed the salad bar; the containers were full, clean and pleasantly presented. The food was very tasty! The only suggestion I have for staff is to make sure they explain that patrons who order the salad bar now get their own plates and that they now have a self-serve drink bar. Overall, it was a great meal in a nice environment; we will definitely return! read more

I need to give credit where credit is due. This afternoon, we were served by Silvia. She was seating a couple of customers when we arrived but made sure we knew she would serve us shortly. She greeted us with a smile, took our order, and seated us. She brought cheese toast, refilled our drinks, and brought clean plates ... all before we even asked. Ally was our server. Very kind and attentive. Addi5ional manager or staff also checking in on our lunchtime experience. Very nice! I'm not one to go to buffet style places, though the salad bar is hands down a delight to pile onto a plate. Pretty fresh. Some items are a bit "from a package" looking like shredded carrots. I don't have experience w any meat or anything else they offer. I only come here for the salads. read more

First of all I would like to say the food was great as usual and the service was good too especially since New Year's Eve was pretty busy so we totally understand the small delays as expected but nothing to complain about. What I would like to point out was how unprofessional one of the managers (Israel) was that night we were there. There is no need to criticize and talk down to your employees when they are trying their best, but to do it in front of customers while we were eating is totally unacceptable and unprofessional. I know other customers seen this too because I looked around and seen people talking and looking his way. This is not the first time I've witnessed something like this but this time was a little too much that I needed to leave a review. I now wish I would've stood up and said something but best believe if this happens again while we are there I will definitely stick up for the employees and say something. They seemed to be working hard to please all of us customers to only get talked down to is pretty sad. We are long time customers and want to continue going here because we like the food, atmosphere and the good quick conversations we have with the great servers. I hope that manager apologizes to his employees for his behavior that night and realizes he has good workers. The one star review is not for the food or the workers but for that manager. read more

Took my family for lunch. We all ordered the unlimited salad bar. It was clean and well stocked with a variety of salads, toppings, and dressings. They also had soups and fruits. There is a crunchy taco and nacho bar with toppings, chicken wings, and patatoes wedges. There is an ice cream bar with syrups and toppings, cobbler, and bread pudding. Everything tasted good, and they kept the food on the hot tables on rotation so it was kept fresh. Our waitress was very attentive and came by to check if we needed anything. The Sizzler in Merced was one of the best Sizzlers we have been to. The cleanliness, service and food deserved a Five Star rating. The Manager Diego was very attentive to the customers and was helping sweep and clear tables. Our server Pricilla was never late on refills and asking if we needed anything. We travel and dine out frequently at Sizzlers throughout California and this has to be one of the best if not the best Sizzlers we have visited. read more

Very disappointed with our meal. They changed to "Tri-Tip Sirloin" that was barely edible. Chewy, even the small part that wasn't overcooked was leathery and fibrous. Also very loud and echoing with the remodel...it's now more like a fast food joint. Service was seriously lacking. I understand that the kitchen may have been backed up but we saw our server twice, to confirm our order and bring our meal, and then had to flag down a passing busser to get a to-go box. Not impressed. read more

We have been to this Sizzler dozens of times when we make trips to Merced from our home in Sonora. It's ideal for the varied food preferences of our family. Everyone can find something they like to eat. The service is always swift and courteous. The salad bar is filled with fresh veggies. Everything is clean and friendly. Our server on the most recent trip, Yasmin, checked on us several times to see if we needed drink refills or clean plates. Eating lunch at Sizzlers was a highlight of our business trip in Merced. read more

This was the place where everyone could enjoy a great steak dinner at an affordable price. This place is super affordable and the overall verdict is a solid local place that's easy to appreciate but hard for me to say I would actually get excited about.

They measure the pours at each machine and it's quite interactive, but it felt like a bunch of the kegs were empty (so the corresponding dispensers were not working), and there were definitely some issues with the RFID system that they, to their credit, did get sorted out. Chips and guac are good and hard to mess up, the carne asada tacos were very good, the chicken tacos were pretty forgettable. 3.5 stars. Tempted to rate higher but they seem to promise a bit more than they delivered.

The plus - everyone enjoyed our meals from the way they were prepared to the ingredients. No one ever came to our table and gave us any water nor did they ask for a refill on our drinks. During this time I peeked around the corner and saw staff just sitting in the back talking to one another. I tried to keep the experience positive for my group of friends but they were also growing concerned about the lack of hospitality. The lunch schedule was only until 2 pm but because of Rainbird's delay in seating us, taking our drink orders as well as the slight delay we felt we were now being rushed to finish our lunch, I also wanted to celebrate our friend's birthday and I brought a cake - the server proceeded to tell me it would be a $5 charge per person if I cut the cake there. She did offer to bring a complimentary dessert for our guest of honor. In my opinion, due to the service we were not receiving the cake fee should have been at least discounted or offset due to the lackluster enthusiasm and service. As we were trying to finish our lunch and take pictures at this beautiful establishment we could see the "side eyes" of staff rushing to get us out the door. I am a firm believer of supporting small businesses in Merced since I was born and raised there and let's face it - Merced has very limited fine dining and we wanted to do something nice for us. In order for small businesses to thrive in this town they need our consumerism to stay in business. As I read from all the exemplary reviews on this platform we unfortunately had a very bad experience with this lovely establishment. A group of us came from Madera so that we could meet our gals from Merced as a middle location. Needless to say we were very disappointed with the service as well as the treatment we received from Rainbird. Next year we will choose another location for our next gathering. The crust was just the right thickness. Even though it was a cold slice, the crust remained flakey. The cafe had ample seating. Service was attentive, but not overbearing. Pricing is on the high end, but I'm not sure how much that is because food is so expensive now-a-days. I was a bit surprised to see sandwich combos (with a side) all starting at around $20, and going up from there. It was after 2 in the afternoon, so the bakery had several 50% off boxes of baked goods to select. Four large cookies for I believe $12 or so (I could be wrong). There weren't too many options left in the bakery cases. I would love to see what this place offers when it first opens. Stay tuned for an update once I get that chance.

First things first, its a 1 completely due to service. I can tolerate a lot but once service is bad, there's a spotlight on all other crap. Ally, at the counter, thought it was a good idea to tell my husband & I to wait by an empty register for someone that was actually busy taking drinks to a customer. So, even though, we were at Ally's register waiting to place an order, she ushered us to the empty register and serviced the family behind us. It was indeed a bad vibe. The family behind us spoke up asking if we ordered. Ally says, "oh no, the other girl will take care of them" and proceeded to take their order. The younger lady looked at me like WTH?! I was instantly livid and felt the blow of racism slap my face. Clearly, so did the family behind us. The older lady of the family even apologized at the salad bar, stating her embarassment for Ally's actions. We choose a table and the server makes her way over after almost 20mins and introduces herself. Priscilla: the most inattentive server we have ever encountered. By this time, we were in need of plates. It took her 10 more minutes to bring those. I asked for napkins. She took so long to attend to us I used the bread basket to get chicken wings from the buffet. Long story short, I had to walk to the register area to request plates. She passes me twice and never brought napkins. I had to go to the register area again and request napkins. At this point, Im doing her job. Yet, she kept asking if we're ok after my trips up to the register...I'm thiniking, "GIRL BYE"! I said, "Im fine. I went and got everything I needed". She says, "Im sorry". (Ya think!?) We were in this area in August and the service was great. The food was good, too. Today, the food was not good. Tri-tip soup was a bit chewy, bland pasta and marinara sauce, dried taco meat, half-crunchy corn tortillas(as if they sat out too long) and extremely overcooked chicken wings. My swirl icecream was all chocolate...lol! The bread pudding and peach cobbler looked like it would choke you out due to it's dryness. The salad bar was awesome. The service at the counter from Ally and on the floor from Priscilla warranted this review and absolutely no tip. We did not complain to the manager but he was made aware, in my presence, of Priscilla's bad service by the young lady that took our order at the counter because she was not understanding why I keep coming to the counter to request items Priscilla should be giving us. So, she told the manager. This was useless. I had to go up to the counter for refills. He was at the counter and said he'll bring it out. Instead, he had Priscilla bring the drinks to the table. He didnt bother to even apologize for Priscilla's service. Im looking forward to writing corporate AND we won't be back to Sizzler in Merced, CA. read more

The Sizzler in Merced is truly something else. Let's begin with the manager Robyn. She sexually harasses the male cooks by making lewd comments and making reference as to how "she likes", making innuendos and not speaking of food - and had to be told by management to straighten up. In regards to Human Resources, this does not exist, legally anyway. The manager has been overheard speaking of employees and their personal issues; relays all information that should be considered confidential to staff; favoritism runs rampant in the workplace and she has a BAD attitude toward customers, has been witnessed by many,staff and in telephone transactions. Some staff need their jobs to get through school and this is their life - some are pushed to the limit of just leaving and regretting their whole experience in working at this Sizzler. Human Resources at headquarters has been involved - let's see if there is change. Unfortunately, it is the ONLY place that is considered a restaurant in Merced. Salad bar is not fresh. When inspected, there was mold and mildew under the items. read more

I was very happy with the food and service at this Sizzler location. I am from Southern California and all of the Sizzlers I visit feel run down, have bad service, are dirty, have empty buffets, and the food is low quality. The Sizzlers in Southern California have gone downhill over the past 10 years unfortunately. I was pleasantly surprised with this Sizzler location in Merced. It was the feeling of Sizzler from the early 2000s. Great service, clean environment, full buffet, great food, and amazing service. This Sizzler even had Coke products! Most Sizzlers have Pepsi. This Merced Sizzler should be the model of how all Sizzlers are run. I want this management brought down to the Southern California locations. My server was Priscilla and she was so helpful that I was never able to completely finish my drink. For my dad's birthday last weekend, we came to Sizzler in Merced and we hit the jackpot by being seated in Yasmeen's section! From the beginning she was great! Yasmeen was so sweet, she stayed on top of everything and checked back in on us to see how we were doing! She was also quite informed on the menu & selection of choices to choose from. But what I just love was how Yasmeen went a little further to create something special for my father's birthday. Her and other staff sang "Happy Birthday" and soon the whole restaurant was joining in, my dad's face glowing with pride. This is a moment we will always remember. The food is, as always, but it was the first-rate service provided by Yasmeen and her colleagues throughout our evening that made for a memorable visit. An exceptional experience overall. We went there to celebrate a retirement. The space was very empty when we arrived and it was very comfortable and relaxing of an atmosphere overall. The food was exceptionally well tasting overall. Upon eating, the manager checked in with us who cooked the food to ensure that quality was up to standard and that we were content with our meal. I had an amazing dining experience thanks to our waitress, Lissandra. She was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. Her warm personality really stood out and made us feel welcome. The food was excellent--fresh, flavorful, and served at just the right temperature. Every dish was prepared well and came out quickly. We took our dad for his 82nd birthday to the renovated Sizzler in Merced on Saturday and had the best experience! Elexues was the sweet and professional waitress who helped us at our table. She was so attentive and made sure we had everything we needed and then some. She even arranged for the staff to sing happy birthday to him and he loved it. From the moment that we walked in at the register, to the fresh salad bar and clean dining area, we had a wonderful experience. We will go back and will hope to be in Elexues's section. read more

Visited on a Friday afternoon, was super busy and cramped. Walking space for canes, walkers made it difficult. Food was OK. There was five of us. I was disappointed that literally every dressing, toppings were watered down. At $25 per person for a salad bar, you don't expect to have running thinned dressings. Sizzlers saving grace was our waitress Silvia, who was excellent. She went above and beyond, she was very attentive. My husband and I are disabled, we appreciate her friendly positive demeanor and customer service. read more

I'm not sure if the phone lines have been outsourced or something else, but any place that makes it this hard for me to be a customer has lost me as one.
