Ribs was served with lots of visible fingerprint on the sides of the plate, who know if it was all over under the meat. I just asked for an extra plate but i didnt expect that it was much worse, looks like it was old as the place scratches, stains and all. Meat was not as tender and dry. read more

Waste of our money! The only good thing was the speedy service. My steak was like chewing on hard rubber bands and the Malibu chicken was a dried up hard chicken patty. The waiters answer was "there's nothing we can do about the steaks being bad" read more

We love the endless salad bar. The carnitas are great and actually made with pork and not chicken (which we came across at another sizzler) and that Peach Lemonade is addicting. Always helped by the friendliest staff including John which always makes us feel so welcome. read more

Our daily errands landed us in Downey. It was after lunch time rush and we decided to stop in at Sizzler. Our local restaurant closed years ago and it was a Friday, so I was craving the salad bar with New England Clam Chowder. For the 5 of us, it was over $120.00. The service was sub standard. My son ordered a steak, medium-rare, my mother-in-law ordered fish and chips. I went and got the clam chowder. It wasn't white and creamy, it was sort of grayish and there were no clams. So I stopped eating that pretty quickly. I checked out the salad and hot bar. There was no chicken in the hot bar and the rest looked pretty unappetizing. I checked out the salad bar, there was no lettuce. I believe that there were 3 or 4 options and they were pretty much empty. I asked our waiter about the lettuce and chicken. He never came back with a response. I asked for a refund. He was a little dismissive. So I waited for the food for the rest of the family. It had already been about 40 minutes, so I asked the waiter how much longer. He again did not check back in. But about 10 minutes later, he returned with the family's food. The fish and chips were super greasy and burnt and the medium-rare steak was past well-done. At this point my husband asked for the manager. She seemed to send the waiter back, but ended up reluctantly coming over. So we advised her of our concerns. She said she didn't want to make excuses but threw her cooks and staff under the bus. Told us that there was only 1 person refilling the salad bar and that she had told the cashier to advise customers that the food would take about 45 minutes. We were never advised of the delay and if the 1 person on the salad bar needed assistance, as the manager she should have "managed" and assigned one the the 4 wait staff to assist, instead of standing around. Or she, Herself should have washed her hands and helped out. Eventually, she refunded our order less the 3 soft drinks. Additionally, the atmosphere is very dreary and there is a "strange" smell and the restrooms were pretty gross. Luckily, Porto's is right around the corner, so we headed there, saved $50, and had great food and service. read more

I know there are so many new places and different kinds of food. But sometimes you just have to go back to classics like sizzler . they have great customer service and traditional foods like steak, lobster and endless shrimp . Call me old fashion but I like knowing I'm going to get a good meal . The salad bar is always fresh and the place is always clean . read more

Wow I believe Carl just wrote my review for me. I have been going to the Pico Rivera Sizzler (near the Del Rey) for a while so I just figured they were all up to par. Sadly, I was mistaken. I should turned around as soon as I caught site of the 1979 decor and caucasian homie waiters hanging out, I suspect at least one was nick named Casper . Anyway they were nice and attentive and I don't think any of this is their fault. I blame the owner and management. The salad bar was quite a bit smaller than Pico's. 75 % was inedible. The lettuce was swimming in water to the point where most was see through. The pasta for the spaghetti was also swimming in water except it was hot which means the pasta kept growing. So your left with thick mushy noodles getting a crusty yellow color some parts. They offer peppercini and it was so colorless it was almost white. Most of the veggies were burnt on the cut edges as if they were stuck in the fridge without being properly sealed. I was forced to take some brownies home to make up for spending 20 bucks on leftovers or maybe even recycled food. I almost had a Chef Ramsey moment but it was just sad. Sad for the people working there and sad for the 90+ year old woman eating this mess as one of her last meals on earth. My daughter fully agrees with this AND she suspects the cheese bread is not made of a cheese topping but human dander( dead skin flakes). read more

BUSINESS: STEAKHOU......who am i fooling? Salad n Wings Medlee! FARE: BUFFET AND GRI....okay, buffet with a couple hour'd'everes (so i butchered the spelling, you get the drift.) Went out to finalize my car at Pep Boys (GREAT SERVICE.) As i waited, i accidentally strolled down the strip mall adjacent to it. The usual suspects, Donut Shop, Laundry Mat, ....and a Sizzler. Im thinking, i got time on my hands, ill hit this joint. Now, I cant remember liking Sizzler so I dont know why i went in here. But I did. At first i was just going to get the Salad Bar for $10.81, but then I realized the price of the salad bar is only $4 with an entree. The Mega Burger was only $6.99, so i figure its almost like im getting both for a only a dollare more....this is great, i didnt want to sign up for that statistics class but here i was, using it in a real world application! so i pay and sit down, and go to the cooked section of the Salad Bar, you know, the chicken wings, taco stand sector. Well, once i get there (which is like one step from my seat, this Sizzler is small!), there are the same 3 wings that were there when i walked in. I tried one of the Onion rings, but felt like i ate something like a dead vegetable that had been sucked dry by Bunnicula and then fried to imperfection... yeah, this cooked section was more like "Fried and Dry." "Hey, how you doing/" a friendly waitress said. "Oh, im fine, thanks..." i figured i tell her that instead of saying "Can you revamp the place?" I understad the hierchary of places, and that is simply not in the job description of the people at the restaurant. But then i remembered the embedded picture im my head that Sizzler advertising had forged. You know.... Water being spritzed on a sea of fresh vegetables, Lettuce and tomoatoes being bounced and rolled on a black granite top, dripping with water like a sweaty marathoner on their 24th mile (Who the hell rolls vegetables and where are they going? Do the lettuce and tomatoe know something afoot and try to tell the others) Well, i remember that i liked the imitation crab when i was a kid..so i looked and there it was, right between the macroni salad and the potato salad. So i scooped a heaping portion. When i bit my first bite, i felt swindled. This stuff was horrible "More bread for you sir?" said the helpful waitress. She produced a basket of bread. Correction: it used to be two pieces of bread, but they became slick and cut the toast into two slices... So back to the imitation crab salad...Heavily oil based, im talking Exxon Valdez spillage, mayonaise and shreds of ...i dont know what that stuff was, but yeah...oh, and bits of celery. I swear i heard of imitation crab, but this crab had a fake mustache and ridiculous glasses...like "Heeeeeeelloooooo, im iMr. imitation crab, and its a pleasure to meet your acquaintance." "Heres your mega burger sir, would you like a refill?" said the waitress. Okay, here it was, pictorally, it looked good, big and plump. I bit into it and again was fooled. It was like a six dollar burger that is only worth about 2bucks. The quality of meat made Spam seem palpable.Ptooey. I cant stomach this food. I left 1/2 my meal abandoned. "Thank You for coming!" said the management and waitress, almost in unison. thumbs up for service, but im kicking myself in the head for going there. read more

5 Stars mostly for the customer service & cheese toast. Super friendly staff. They are very welcoming and take very good care of you. I ordered the steak and shrimp combo=$15+7.99 salad bar total bill $24.18. Salad bar was clean and well stocked. Most importantly everything was fresh. My shrimp was delicious, steak was the only disappointment. It was really slim like a chicken strip and bland flavor. For $15 I was expecting a little better quality. Other than that I had a great lunch. Can't forget the ice cream! So delicious! Unlike other salad bars where the ice cream is water down. Sizzler is a throw back restaurant for me, still the same great place that it was when I was a kid. read more

Stopped by here as we are from San Diego CA and we only have like 1-2 Sizzler restaurants left. Our food was extremely well prepared. Tha wife and I shared a steak and lobster plate while my mother in law enjoyed the unlimited salad plate. Our server was tha man! He attended to all our needs without any issues or attitude. Such a well behaved young man, much better work etiquette than those a bit older or more experienced there (nothing against the other staff, just praising this young man)! But in most restaurants, many youth get a bad wrap since their work etiquette is not about giving you a great time and attention but more like a bother to them (after all you are there to serve). We commended Brad and his hard work ethics. He took control of over half the side of the restaurant during a busy late lunch/early dinner crowd and stepped up the plate. We had some specific needs to our food as we are diabetic and my mother in law is going thru dialysis. Every time we asked his to modify our order he did with such a great attitude and attention! We even told him how much more our dining experience was because of him! And yes we did tip him well. If you are ever dining at this location, be on the lookout for Brad!! read more

My mom and I stopped here on the way to Disneyland one day because we were hungry and craving salad. This is an old-school Sizzler! I used to work for Sizzler back in 2003 and not even the restaurant I worked at was as old-school as this one. The place is really ancient. My mom had a senior meal and we thought it came with the salad bar, but you have to choose either a one-trip to the salad bar or to the soup bar. What! The service was great though, I have to give it that! read more

Yep they did it for me! Marcos, manager is by far the best! He came to our table & did tricks for the kiddos. He went above and beyond to help my mother & I during dinner! He continued to check on our table throughout our time there. Ty. Restaurant was clean & I noticed worker changing our containers of food @ the salad bar. Salad bar was fresh! Will be back! read more

Sizzler - Ty Marcos!!!!!! Your awesome! - Seafood Near Me - Downey, California

We were there this evening and waited over an hour and half for our meals that never came out. We finally decided to ask how much longer it would be before they came out. The kind waiter advised us he was unsure how much longer it would be due to having a new cook who didn't know what he was doing. Thank fully instead of waisting any more of our time he advised us we should just request a refund. On top of that it was so hot in there no ac was running at that time...We went up to the register and spoke with the manager. she refunded us, but still charged us for our drinks and one salad bar. We did not even finish our drinks since we were waiting for our food, our drinks were basically watered down at that point. You would think she would of compensated us for our drinks and one salad bar for the Inconvenience but she did not! Almost two hours waisted at this this establishment!! Never again! read more

I haven't been to a Sizzler in decades, so I stopped in for a quick lunch. I wasn't disappointed. I had the Steak & Malibu Chicken with fresh veggies as my side, along with their cheese bread, all delicious! Their cheese bread is one of the best around and can definitely hold its own against the fancier steak house chains! I honestly haven't had a steak this good in quite awhile, and you cannot beat the price. My whole meal with tax was under $15 (no drink - just water for me). And, the staff were all super friendly and helpful, from the girls at the front to my server, Dana. Hope management treats them well - they deserve it! I won't wait another decade to come back again to this Sizzler! Great job, guys! read more

Nice staff and great food. John is super friendly and attentive. Great customer service.

Absolutely horrible service,we went there for dinner with our family.Purchased the meals for 7 family members,5 kids and two adults. We went and sit down while waiting on the food. After about 15 -20 mins of waitomg,a server came and told us that one of the kids have to move to a different table because they only can sit 6 at each table.Im telling her that our kids are all minors and they need to stay with us,then she proceeded to tell me that one of the parent should move with the kid at a different table.I don't think so,we cand aa a family and they charged us,yet don't tell us until we sit and wait. We ended up leaving, place was small, smelled dirty, table all sticky and customer service horrible! Still don't understand who I'm their right mind would ask a family to move their little kid two tables away to sit and eat alone!Very strange and disrespectful! Do not go to this Sizzler in Lakewood Blvd! read more

$12.99 x 2 Salad bar, just sat down, staff started packing up. No food, threw soups away, staff rushing to go home. Two thumbs down.

Ok this review is directed at the staff and salad bar . Staff is Friendly, attentive and helpful, server was great! Salad bar was fresh and clean, tasty with lots of options, from what I ate everything was delicious... Cheese bread was as remembered, and good! Place was pretty empty at 4pm on a Tuesday afternoon. Price was fair Only took one star off due to its outdated environment, but it was clean, including the bathroom. read more

It's been years since I last ate at sizzler. The food was good but I wasn't particularly impressed with the steak. The service was good though and they stop selling the salad bar at 9:15 (on Saturdays at least). The salad bar is quite good but there wasn't any Italian dressing for my salad. The dessert bar was quite nice. read more

I haven't gone to Sizzler in a long time. I was so pleased with the service, specifically Marcos. He was very polite and paid attention to our needs as dining guests. I went there on April 27th and never again would I go TO THIS LOCATION. The food was not up to Sizzler's standards and service wasn't horrible but not up to code. Overall we ordered 3 dinners plus salad bar. The salad bar was not kept up (hot food missing or cold, a mess around the fruit and veggie station). We requested if someone would be servicing the salad bar area and they said someone would. 30 mins later no body came out. It was a waste of money. Then 2 dishes we ordered, 1 with lobster and steak and the other with steak and Shrimp came out wrong. The lobster was under cooked and smelled off that we sent it back and requested our money back to which they did. The steak was never refunded back. Cheese bread cold and we needed to be the ones to go up to the cashier with our empty cups to request refills (twice). It was not busy, only us plus 2 other tables. There were 2 girls up front to which we saw just taking and laughing behind the counter while the male server was MIA. It was a horrible experience that I emailed Sizzler through there website and yet I have never gotten a reply back. Thanks SIZZLER! disappointed ! read more

Their buffet mainly had salads and they need to add more warm food. Their clam chowder is ok. Other than that their food isn't very good. The cheese toast is too greasy and it doesn't taste good. Its pretty pricey. For five people it's around $55! It cost too much and it's not worth it. read more

I have been coming here my whole life! My grandparents both used to love this place and come here quite often. My grandma always says she's friends with John, the owner. He is a very nice and pleasant guy. He hugs all of us every time he sees us because he has practically seen all of us grow up. Every time I have come here I have loved it. Everyone is always so nice to us. I'd have to say that Dana Is our favorite. She is Always smiling and happy to see us. Today was a different story. Let me tell you.. there is nothing darling about DARLENE!!!Worst experience in a restaurant ever! We always get the salad bar. Today I got a Pacifico with my meal. A girl I'd never seen before took our order. Then when it was time to pay DARLENE Rang us up but she thought my beer was a Pepsi Because the girl that took our order wrote a P on our ticket. My grandma was already 90% done with the credit card transaction so then I said OK well then don't get the beer then because I didn't want to stand there for another 10 minutes and have my grandma run her card all over again because you guys made a mistake. DARLENE looked angrily at me and said that they already opened the beer. So I said well then you should just give it to me for free because it wasn't me that made the mistake. Then DARLENE has the nerve to tell me that I was rude. How is that rude when I was just stating the facts! Then she aggressively got worse. Practically threw my tray at me on the table and said that I was rude two more times under her breath. I was definitely not rude and certainly you, DARLENE are a complete and utter miserable bit... u know the rest. You should not work in the serving industry because you are an absolute nightmare. Sorry John but we are giving sizzler a break. It's not really helping but DARLENE actually just came to apologize to me mid review but my experience is already ruined and all I ate was my soup and potato. read more
