We had such a memorable experience at Outback Steakhouse celebrating my husband's 60th birthday with our family on April 17th! Outback has been one of our go-to spots over the years, and this visit reminded us exactly why. We were in town for a tournament in Whittier and so excited when we noticed that outback was close by. I had the salmon with a wedge salad (no bacon since I'm pescatarian), and I really appreciated that they listened and got everything just right, always a small detail that makes a big difference. Our table also had the filet and lobster, and everything was perfectly cooked and beautifully served. You could tell care went into every plate. A special shoutout to our server, Alexis M!!! She was friendly, kind, and so accommodating to our party of five. She truly made the whole experience feel easy and enjoyable, which is exactly what you want when celebrating something special. We left happy, full, and grateful. We'll absolutely be back next time we're in the area, thank you for making it such a great experience for all of us! Also I forgot my glasses at the table that night and the next morning went to the restaurant at 7:30 in the morning and the manager let me in, dug through everything and found my prescription glasses which was a lifesaver, as I did not have a backup! I'm convinced this Outback Steakhouse is running an experimental program to see how long customers can stand around before being acknowledged. After waiting five minutes at the bar without so much as a "hello," the bartender finally appeared and immediately started shouting, "What can I get you, sir?" from halfway across the bar. Apparently, indoor voice training was not included in orientation. When I asked for a menu, I was informed that "most people already know what they want to drink." Interesting. I wasn't aware telepathy was now a requirement for dining out. To clarify, I didn't ask what most people do. I asked for a menu so I could order food. The bartender's ability to assume what customers want was only surpassed by her inability to listen to what they actually asked for. Customer service: missing. People skills: missing. Menu awareness: questionable. Volume control: nonexistent. If this location ever decides to invest in hospitality training, they might want to start with the person behind the bar. I was given a gift card for my birthday and decided to try this place out. The restaurant is very conveniently located near the Norwalk movie theater, so it's perfect for a movie and dinner date night. First, the food was amazing! The portions are huge, so come hungry or be prepared to take leftovers home. Everything was also reasonably priced, which was a pleasant surprise. The reason I'm giving this place 3 stars is because the customer service really needs improvement. Honestly, it took longer for a waitress to come greet us than it did for us to get seated. I was in the mood for a cocktail and asked the waitress if the drinks listed on the menu were the only options available. She quickly replied "yes," so I just ordered water because I wasn't in the mood for beer. I kid you not, it took about 20 minutes just for the drinks to arrive. Another waitress eventually came by to check on us and deliver the drinks. She was incredibly friendly -- I wish I had gotten her name. She was wearing a white Dodgers jersey and had long beautiful nails. She actually took the time to explain the drink options to me. I ended up passing, but my husband ordered a beer, and it was huge. Unfortunately, the wait for the food was also very long -- about 50 minutes. Once the food finally arrived, no one came back to check on us. I wanted steak sauce and literally had to chase down one of the waitresses to ask for it. Overall, the food here is really good and the prices are fair, but the service definitely needs improvement. Visited on a Monday evening dinner time like at 5pm. Parking lot looked full so I was like that's it bc I've been here before and theirs times it's busy and times it's slow at serving. Well jinxed my experience. They are a bit infamous the servers about disappearing and not coming around for more bread and refills. Which was the case for myself. Ordered steak and a chicken plate. I had to wait a few minutes for A1 sauce my steak was getting cold at that point. But it was the best deal and was really tasty so made up for the service. It was a bit cold inside the restaurant. My husband and I went to this restaurant for date night yesterday. We've been here a couple of times and had great experiences. We started off by ordering drinks, one of them being the Blossoming Rita, which is one of their alcoholic beverage options. The Blossoming Rita was very tasty and refreshing, with a good balance of alcohol and sweetness. For food we shared the 20 oz Bone-In Ribeye and chose the Dressed Baked Potato and Tasmanian Chili (one of their premium side options at an extra cost) as our sides. We also tried their Roasted Garlic Butter (costs a bit extra), and two different horseradish sauces (mentioned by our waitress) to go with our steak. Our food was very delicious and full of flavor. The Tasmanian Chili was especially delicious and worth the upgrade in cost. The service was also great, and our waitress was very attentive throughout our entire dining experience. She had our food brought out quickly and communicated with us on the status of our food. The restaurant itself was very spacious and clean with a pleasant atmosphere. When I was younger I always wanted to try the American food chains like outback, red lobster, Applebee's etc. my parents always said no, the price is too expensive for the quality of food. Well I finally got to try it as an adult as we got a gift card to this place. Sad to say, my parents were right about the food. The food was underwhelming and salty. Very heavy as well. Came to visit for mine and my husbands wedding anniversary, visit on the 3/20, with our son. The service and staff was amazing. My son is still unable to sit down for too long without screaming and they were completely understanding of his curiosity and wanting to explore, joking with me (I started it) that if he wanted to go into the kitchen he needed a job with them first. The manager, I'm going to guess by her attire and attitude, was really amazing and friendly as well with our son trying to play in the kitchen (never got into the kitchen and I wouldn't have let him). The food was really good as well. We ordered a bit more than needed but we enjoyed everything we ordered. We loved the Aussie fries. The bread as usual was SO GOOD! And the steak was just amazing, I got the D something or other (see photos). Our server, Feli, even let us know if it needed to be cooked a little longer they would have done so for us. My wife and I went to Outback in Lakewood on Sunday 4-19-26 and the overall experience was great as usual. Outback is one of those chain restaurants that provide a good experience every time. The service was great, the appetizer was fantastic, and the steak meal was awesome. We almost always order the coconut shrimp appetizer. And this time it was as good as usual. The coconut batter and the orange marmalade sauce go well together. My wife had a steak and shrimp and I had a New York steak, and both meals were great. My family and I were really hungry, we had been craving this for a while and it was a total bust. The previous times we've been here, it was also not great and we hoped this time would prove us wrong, but we definitely do not recommend anybody come here. Our server was Bianca, she was very nice and we've had her before, but her food service is subpar. She did not enter our food, and the supervisor entered it in for us, only for it to come out incorrect. They may ask you how you want your meat cooked and no matter what it will always come out well done. We had things missing because we had no menus to reorder, were hungry and tired, and just had to guess off the top of our heads. All in all, I advise nobody to come here. It tasted like the salt shaker broke off and spilled all over the onion, that amount of salt would maybe kill us if we would have eaten it. Finally, being as it was a curbside order, I would have expected a bit of customer service especially since I left a 15% tip. The guy bolted in and out so fast that I didn't have a chance to ask about utensils. There were no utensils and I was locked out of my house so I really needed some. For myself, I'm very proud of the kids in Norwalk working at the outback there doing the best jobs and working hard makes us want to return there and become frequent visitors. The staff go above and beyond not perfect, but do a great job to make sure that you experience a level of happiness while you're there. One of my favorite casual dining spots. This location in particular. Prime ribs and loaded baked potatoes are consistently on point. Of course I always have to have the medium and spicy wings. No one makes them as crispy and fresh like Outback. The service is great. They are always friendly and helpful. I've had their ribs and it is good. They are soft and falls off the bone. My go to is the prime ribs. Reservation highly recommended. Call and make reservations. It will save you time esp if you have to drive 30 minutes to get there. I snorked it and the baked potato down (they really have excellent potatoes). If you havent had the ranch here its a lil spicy, very unique flavor i love it. My husband got the ribs and they were fall off the bone with flavorful and tangy bbq sauce. The new croc-tail is very tasty as well and i dont normally like alcohol. The restaurant is clean enough, it was pretty busy so of course it wasnt spotless. Came on a Saturday night and it was packed. The nice host at the door quoted 30 mins we were set in 15 mins. Our server Janelle was awesome from the jump. Very nice and polite. Very efficient. I noticed her with her other tables and so was just as nice to all of them. She gave great suggestions. Checked on us throughout the meal. Extremely disappointed with the service we received. I made two (2) reservations for a large group of 30-35 ppl for two separate occasions. I got the text confirmation for both dates. The first event went great and we were accommodated even tho I had more in our party than anticipated. Yesterday, however, I just had a feeling that I should reconfirm my dinner reservations and called. They appeared clueless. I immediately called again to be sure they have me and then they text me a confirmation. When I arrived to the restaurant, the manager appeared to want proof that I had made reservations so I showed her. I felt that was rude. I just brought your restaurant 35-40 ppl and you're not happy about it?? The service was a little slow and when the food arrived, my order was wrong. Along with my ribeye, I had asked for mash potatoes and broccoli. Instead, they gave me double broccoli and it looked like a forest on my plate. I told the person that I had asked for mash potatoes and broccoli and he just stood there and served the others on my table. Finally, a friend of mine told him to get me a side of mash potatoes. He seemed like he didn't know what to do with my steak. When my friend's steak arrived, it was still moo-ing. Again, they didn't seem to know what to do. We asked them to cook it a little longer. As soon I walked in I was greeted by the loveliest young woman (I believe her name was Kyra) with such a beautiful smile on her face! These types of restaurants are comforting for just that reason... you'll get OK food (usually) and it will be plentiful and relatively inexpensive. All of that was true here. My SO had the surf and turf because he's fancy like that. It looked a bit like a plastic replica of food it was so uniform. But it was OK. I had the grilled shrimp (on the Barbie, natch). They were fine. Not great. Not awful. Fine. There is bread. A lot of people like it. The Caesar salad is still inauthentically good, served cold with lots of cheese and garlicky croutons.
