My experience with Sixt Rent a Car at the Denver International Airport branch was not only disappointing but also deeply concerning. I was issued a Genesis GV80 that had a serious tire defect (a hole in the tire) which caused a tire blowout while I was driving. Sixt was fully aware of this defect when they rented the vehicle to me, yet they failed to address it, putting my life at significant risk. When I went to the Denver Airport branch to resolve the issue, I encountered Cody Barrows, the general manager. Instead of taking responsibility for Sixt's clear failure to provide a safe vehicle, Cody verbally abused me in front of other customers and threatened to blacklist me if I didn't accept a much lower-class vehicle. He pressured me into accepting a Nissan Altima, which was far below what I had paid for under the Sixt+ subscription. As if I would want to spend my money again in this type of business. Cody's behavior was unprofessional and discriminatory, clearly influenced by my identity as an Arab Muslim. His hostility and intimidation left me feeling humiliated, unsupported, and unsafe. To make matters worse, William Sprague, a manager trainee from the Cherry Creek branch, involved himself in the situation and showed no concern for the serious safety issues I raised. William had already mishandled my previous complaints at the Cherry Creek branch, and once again, he dismissed my concerns here. He even took part in the bait-and-switch tactics, making it clear that resolving my issue was not a priority for either him or Cody. I have paid $1,849 for the second month of my Sixt+ subscription, only to receive unsafe vehicles, threats, and disrespect in return. Sixt continues to ignore my attempts to resolve the issue. I feel compelled to warn others about Sixt's false advertising, discriminatory treatment, and lack of regard for customer safety. If you're considering renting from Sixt at Denver International Airport, be prepared for unsafe vehicles and a hostile, unhelpful staff, especially under the management of Cody Barrows and with the involvement of William Sprague. read more

Like others.... If I could give them a ZERO, I would. Rented a BMW X5. When we arrived, none were available. So naturally, they upgraded me to an X7 ( for a small fee). As soon as we got on the highway, the check engine light came on. We immediately returned. They then put us in a Mercedes. Left on our journey again. When we were 10 minutes down the road, the low tire pressure light came on. Again, we returned to rental location. They put us in a 3rd vehicle apologizing profusely and telling me they would elevate our predicament to management. We eventually made it to our destination, where we discovered the rear drivers tire and a screw in it. Called the "roadside assistance". They suggested : 1st - Drive back to the rental location ( 2 hours away). 2nd - "call somebody to fix it". Their "roadside assistance" is really "roadside useless advise". When we received our invoice after leaving Denver, we were charged double what we were initially quoted for. DO NOT RENT FROM SIXT. The rental itself went fine, after that - things went bad. A month later, I was charged for 2 tolls plus their 15.00/day service charges for tolls I did not incur. One toll came from another state and one from AFTER I returned the car. Repeated attempts to resolve with them via email and phone calls were unsuccessful. They said it was my responsibility to resolve with the tolling authority. How would I resolve a toll with tolling authority that was incurred over a week after I returned the car?? I have rented from this location a few time with no issues. I booked online, ahead of time. It is easy to make modifications on the app. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Complete Scam. My husband and I rented a car from Sixt through Expedia with a flight plus rental combo. When we arrived we were never told to check car, no checklist like we've received from AVIS in the past. We had the car less than 2 days and barely used it. After we returned the car we got an email saying we damages the front bumper and sent a photo of a scratch. We did not do this. We didn't even park somewhere that someone could back into us. They're now saying we owe over $800 after taking the $250 deposit for incidentals. No proof to show us that this wasn't there prior to our renting it. If you have other options use them. I reserved online using their App and in order to lock-in the rental price and vehicle type I paid upfront s month in advance. When the plane landed at DEN they let me know that the vehicle I already paid for was not there or available do in order to have any vehicle I had to choose from what was available and all had upgrade costs! No upgrades for what I already paid. When attempting to work this out with Sixt they added the entire upgraded vehicle to my card on top of the already paid for reservation they did not honor. Eventually they refunded the original reservation but never received the original price for the available vehicle. Sixt is not the least expensive option so their customer service should make up for the costs- it doesn't and their selection of vehicles certainly doesn't justify the added dollars when they don't give you what you've paid for. Avoid them and choose one of the other bad options that make up the Denver airport rental experience- one of the nation's worst. read more

Look, we all know rental car agencies are the worst. I'd say they are easily the worst part of any vacation. I dread picking up my rental car as soon as I get on the plane. It usually involves a combo of: - Multiple lines - Waiting - Shuttles - Sweating - Upselling I hate the experience SO MUCH, that what I usually do now is I just look at Yelp reviews at an airport I'm flying into, and rent from the highest rated one, regardless of cost. It' just not worth saving $20-$100...but delaying your vacation. (and my vacations are often short, rarely more than a few days!) Well, for Denver...I could do that. I need a vehicle with clearance because I was going to be driving to some rough trailheads. I went with SIXT and...it was...amazing? Seriously, not sure why the hate here? The only negative is that the shuttle did, indeed, take FOREVER to arrive to the airport. Probably 20-30 minutes? But once we got to SIXT the lines were q uick and the clerk that helped me, Anthony, was super-helpful and efficient. They didn't have the Tacoma I ordered so they gave me a Tundra (an even BIGGER truck, overkill for our needs but, whatever, we'll take it) which is technically a free upgrade. I'm not sure if I'm into SIXT now, but I definitely trust this location. This location has a good selection of cars but the reps make commission if they sell you insurance so they are very pushy.... We prepaid a car for 2 days and 3 hours so it charged for 3 days. When we went to pick up the car they were trying to sell us on extra insurance even with the purchased insurance we had from Expedia, they said that insurance isn't 100% coverage. After over 10 min of service representative Bridget pushing extra insurance and cutting into our rental/vacation time after we said we don't need it she magically was able to knock off a day from our booking and said she'd add the full coverage insurance at "no extra cost" from what we prepaid because she couldn't refund us the extra day anyway. She cut back the 3 extra hours that pushed our booking to a 3 day paid booking to put that prepaid amount to insurance that she'd profit off of. Very manipulative company and representatives. Enterprise is much more transparent and reassuring. This is our first and last time booking with Sixt. read more

I have rented hundreds of cars from nearly every car rental company in the country, and this is the worst customer service I have ever encountered. When the tire on our rental car failed we were on the other side of the state. We quickly discovered that the lug nuts Sixt had installed were tamper-proof and the tire iron in the car couldn't remove them. Even the auto club couldn't remove them. We paid to have the car towed to a Firestone tire store. Sixt has no customer support anywhere in Colorado other than at the Denver airport, which was hundreds of miles away. And no one we encountered had ever even heard of Sixt. So we had to purchase a tire to continue our trip. At this point we are down nearly $400. When we checked the car in back in Denver, the attendant encouraged us to file a claim for reimbursement. Against my better judgment, I did so. You can imagine my surprise when Sixt had the nerve to not only deny the claim, but attempt to bill us for a tire that would "match" the others on the car. Will never rent from Sixt again for unpleasant experience at Denver Airport. We reserved a Toyota Camry for 3 days and bought rental car protection plan via Expedia. At the pickup, the agent gave us a free upgrade to Volvo and a demo for operating the car on the spot. He did not gave us a walk-thru or checklist for inspecting any damage on the car. Car ran smoothly. We returned the car by dropping it off in the car-return parking lot on time. Two days later, we received a photo with "exploded image" showing a little dot of "Windscreen (Windows) Driver side stone chip surface only." We were unaware of this damage. It is so small. I tried to download the photo for further review of the damage and the time of the photo was taken but they already took the photo offline. Be careful doing business with Sixt. read more

A friend went online and reserved a car from them approximately 1 week prior to needing a vehicle. I drove them to pick up site and upon check-in, he was told they did not have any cars in the class size he reserved because their location had limited inventory. The options he was presented with was to either upgrade to another car for $200.00 more than initial reservation and drive to another sixt location to "hopefully" exchange it for the size and price he was quoted. They did not even offer to call the other site, that was 42 miles away from Boulder location, to check if they had the right size car. Or option 2 was to just forget about renting any car. Why would any company take a reservation for any service if they are not willing or able to fulfill the service. I'm just here to post a positive review amongst all the negative ones so that if someone is on the edge considering to book or not that maybe this will help tip the scales. I'm not doubting that some of these other reviewers had bad experiences however mine was great. The check-in process was easy, they provided us with helpful Highway information since we came after a snowstorm, we got in our car and hit the road right away. Something I would like to address that I saw in another comment is that they were complaining the car was shaking. This was probably due to the fact that you were in Colorado lol... snow can get into the wheel well and this throws off the balance of the cars tires, which leads to the shaking. This 100% happened to us, we just pulled over at a gas station and tried to get out what we could and then the shaking stopped. So some of these reviews are probably from people with lack of knowledge of what driving in the snow is like. So anyway, our experience was positive. We returned the car and someone checked us out right away then we took a shuttle back to the airport and we were on our way. Only feedback that I would say is they should have put an ice scraper in the car. read more

I was given a crappy toyota for top dollar because I didn't have a reservation. Okay fine. But said toyota was literally buried under snow/ice when I got to it. Totally unsafe to drive. The guy that gave me this shitty car was more interested in helping the young European girl in line behind me, than me. He tried to take her first by asking if she was there first (she clearly got in line several minutes after me). When we both said I was first, he tried to take her before me by asking if she had elite status. She didn't, so he reluctantly helped me and gave me this crappy car and crappy deal to punish me. This past July, we rented a Toyota 4 Runner from a pleasant agent in Denver. I picked up the vehicle and noticed that it had very high mileage for a rental (over 41000 miles) and that the "Oil Maintenance required" light was on upon starting it. I pointed out these things to the checkout person at the gate but was told just to take a picture of them in case of any issues which I did (see enclosed photo) We were driving from Denver to Casper Wyoming where the speed limit was 80mph on our drive. I was sticking to the speed limit but noticed a lot of vibration in the front end that I assumed meant that the truck needed an alignment or that the tires were out of balance. It was nighttime and so we continued our drive of 4 hrs. The next morning, I saw that the left front tire was dangerously bald on the inside and that the right front tire wasn't much better. It appeared that the tires had never been rotated or balanced nor an alignment done. We tried calling the rental car company no less than 10 times, were put in a cue on hold and never got through. Finally we tried their roadside assistance company and were stuck in that cue for more than a half hour with no answer. We knew it was totally unsafe to drive the truck as it was and only a matter of time before we experienced a blow out which could endanger our lives at the highway speeds we needed to drive. We called triple A (my friend Tim had an account) and they came and changed one of the tires for us with the spare. The technician for the company was in disbelief that a rental Car company would allow anyone to drive on such a dangerous set of tires (picture attached) and unmaintained vehicle (as were we) We returned the vehicle to Sixt and spoke with the manager, explaining all we did and all the time we spent trying to reach them and their roadside assistance people to exchange the vehicle. She too took pictures of the bald tire, dashboard alert, etc. and apologized saying that they were short staffed, people couldn't get in touch with roadside assistance basically verifying all that we had experienced. She PERSONALLY promised that she would send me an email so I could reach her (she never did) and that we would get a substantial discount on the rental or it would be free of charge due to all the issues and negligence on their side. (my companion Tim is also a witness to this discussion) The "substantial" discount was $120.00 off of a ridiculous initial charge of $680 for a three day rental according to the bill from Sixth Rental Car. Personally, I feel that the company put our lives at risk with this vehicle and that we should have payed nothing for it or at most, half of what they billed. I feel that the company should respond and actually take responsibility for their reckless lack of safety inspection or maintenance of our vehicle. read more

For anyone else just skimming reviews and mine is TLDR... the negative experiences people are complaining about are 100% accurate. I'm not trying to hide behind anonymous reviews. Look at my profile. I don't review company's for fun. I chose Sixt for a family vacation to Miami. Easy to navigate and set up. I needed something that would be comfortable for my pregnant wife and 1.5 year old son. That's it. Should be easy. Sixt didn't charge a crazy fee for picking up at Miami and returning to Fort Lauderdale so I thought, great. Let's book it. Got everything set up on their app for mobile pick up. Cut to landing in Miami and time to "select my exact vehicle". Surprise! nothing available in your class. Your options are to upgrade to a BMW X5 for "only" $80 more a day (I was renting for 7 days) OR go speak to a desk representative. I'm not cool. I'm a dad. I need something functional. Not a cool car and $80/day is cost prohibitive at 7 days. Give me a break. I know you have vehicles back there and I know when I speak to a desk agent he's just going to switch me to something else. Why is this upgrade presented as the only option? This was the first negative part of the experience. This process totally negates their entire mobile check-in process and doesn't make things easier for the end user. If this had been the only thing, 4 stars... a minor inconvenience and a hope that the company would do better. Let's move forward in time a bit. Guy at the desk who is rude and hates his life finds us another vehicle. Great. No extra charge. Just a minor inconvenience. We go out to the garage and grab the keys from the guy in the booth. Locate the vehicle and get everyone ready to roll out. "Oh wait," my wife says... "we should document the damage." I'm sweating. We're in Florida, let's just go. No, of course she's right. So, I pull up the app to report the damage. There is some damage to the bumper of the otherwise flawless vehicle. I take 3 to 4 photos on the app to document the pre-existing damage. My wife takes one directly on her phone. Okay, everyone is happy. Let's get out of this garage! We have a great vacation. Thank you all for asking. Cut to returning the vehicle. Let's do this! We get to the airport with plenty of time. The lady checking in the car is super friendly and we talk about our kids for a bit. Cool. We're doing good again. Back on track. She then did something that confused me. She closed the back door (of the SUV) and circled the damage I had reported with a marker. Okay, that was odd but whatever, we have a plane to catch. Turns out, it was odd... We fly home. Everyone is feeling relaxed and happy. Two days after we left the vehicle at the airport, Sixt emails me stating, "We've noticed new damage to the vehicle you rented and we'd like to work together to resolve this matter. Damage is frustrating!" Yeah, it sure is. Well, the damage they are claiming was actually the damage I reported at the check-in process! So, they are holding me accountable for something that I reported to them before I even put the theoretical key in the theoretical ignition. OKAY. Everyone take a breath! Sixt is a big company and liable to make mistakes. I'll just go into the app and pull up those photos I took, right? No. The photos I took through their app are not accessible to me at all. Minus one more star. For those keeping track, we're down to 3. Okay... what is my recourse here? Sixt wants me to fill out their damage report. I do. The very same day. Include all the information I have about the damage and the one photo my wife took of the damage prior to our departure. Remember, I cannot access any of the photos I took through the app. I also encourage Sixt to look at their servers because I'm sure those photos uploaded to their system and they have them on file. Great. They'll see this a big misunderstanding and close the file and we'll all move on with our lives. Acknowledge they made a mistake and no harm no foul. But wait... That damage report was filed on a Monday. Tuesday, no word so emailed them. No response. Minus another star. Now we're at 2. Wednesday goes by. No word. Thursday... I email them twice for an update. No word. Minus another star. That's how we arrive at 1 star. I didn't want to write this review. I gave you the benefit of the doubt to do the right thing and you failed time and time again. You deserve this 1 star. Here is some advice: Read these reviews. Have your executives read these reviews. MY CAR RENTAL WAS NOT CLEANED BETWEEN RENTERS!!!!! NOT EVEN A QUICK ONCE OVER. Fries are under my seat, debris scattered on all floors, debris on the seats...A USED plastic, crumpled GLOVE is seen laying on the bench in the back seat, in plain site. Under normal circumstances, one would agree....completely unacceptable. Imagine checking into a hotel room that has trash, an unmade bed, and you are unable to talk to anyone at the hotel about it. Now add the STATE MANDATED restrictions put in place, allowing companies to operate during the pandemic under strict codes of conduct. To protect the spread of the virus. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER 888-749-8227 WOULD NOT CONNECT. It would produce a busy signal, no matter the time of day. When the the company closed for the day, the customer service number suddenly worked, instead of a busy signal, an immediate message to the effect of please call us during normal business hours. HERE is the TIMELINE of the number attempts I have made so far, to try and speak with anyone at SIXT, locally and nationally. 1. July 30th 6:48 pm MDT - exactly 30 minutes after signing for my rental at 6:18 pm. I called customer sixt customer service number 888-749-8227 and was met with a busy signal (though the hours are 4AM - 2AM Eastern Time we are suppose to be able to contact a representative). I call again, and again. By 6:53 pm I have received a busy signal 3 times, I confirm I have the correct number, and I do. I am concerned as this is within the FIRST HOUR of a 4 DAY RENTAL - of which I am paying $626.26 for a Hyundai Tucson Utl 2. July 30th - 7:04 pm, I pull off the road and record a time stamped video on my iphone xs 23 seconds long, to document the current state of the interior of the vehicle. The video attached shows my sixt car rental, I have officially driven off the Denver International lot 20-25 minutes earlier. Of which I expected in a parking garage with NO LIGHTS, after flying into town because my dad died. The video, does a quick scan of the car, showing, without documenting the interior in extensive detail....Fries are under my seat, debris scattered on all floors, debris on the seats. A USED plastic crumpled GLOVE is seen laying on the bench in the back seat in plain site. 3. July 31st - 11:30 am MDT, I dial customer service again, the phone number still produces a busy signal, with no options to leave or connect with any departments. 4. July 31st - 11:33 am MDT, I contact customer service via Apple App Sixt. Under Help & Contact us - Concerns - I give my name, my email, my rental agreement number, a 4-5 sentence breakdown of the inability to get through to customer service and the reason for my concern. And I attach a file, as it is an option, to show why I need to speak with them as soon as possible and click send. No email, is sent to my own email, indicating customer service has even been contacted. 5. July 31st - 11:38am MDT - I take an additional step, insuring my message gets through, I google the customer service email which is CUSTOMERSERVICE-USA@SIXT.COM the message emailed, reiterated, I have contacted you via your websites directive for concerns, complains etc. Which included a video. etc I receive a response from sixt at 7:47 pm MDT 8 HOURS LATER which said "If you would like to speak with a live agent we invite you to contact us at +1-888-749-8227. Shortly you will be connected to the next available agent that will be happy to assist you". 6. After receiving an email directing me to contact the number that only produces a. busy signal. I CALL AGAIN at 11:39 pm - to my surprise, I am not met with a busy signal but an automated message asking me to call back during business hours. I AM HALF WAY THROUGH MY RENTAL, I HAVE BEEN CONTACTING CUSTOMER SERVICE 30 MINUTES INTO MY 4 DAY RENTAL, AND I STILL HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO SPEAK WITH ANYONE.
