This company is unbelievable, first they steal my money, and then they ignore me. Do not do business with Sixt Rent a Car!

Took over 45 minutes waiting in line with multiple agents walking in and out, not helping the 20 people in line. Usually car rental contracts take under 5 minutes. Not sure how they manage to complicate the transaction to equate the DMV. Worth the extra $10 to go to Enterprise or Budget or ANYWHERE. read more

Wow...I need a question answered. I called...could not get through. I called the 833 number direct to Denver...not functioning. I emailed and only got a FAQ link back that did not work. I called customer service...finally after hitting "0" like 8x I got a human. Garbage! Don't waist you time. I have been renting cars and traveling for years. First experience with this company. I rented a luxury car (Cadillac or equivalent) and got some random Volvo. Returned our car, the guy that checked our car didn't tell us there were any issues, just said all was good and we'd get our receipt in the mail. Saw today that I was charged $227 for a "cleaning fee". Never had this happen before and I've rented five other cars just this year alone. read more

Do not rent from Sixt. We returned the truck and Sixt claimed we were responsible for damage on the truck. We did not get in an accident and we personally always parked the truck in our garage in Vail. We explained to them that we did not cause damage and we were not responsible for the prior damage. They are charging us $400. Do not rent from Sixt. We usually rent from Hertz Gold, Avis, Budget. This is our second time renting from Sixt. We will never rent from this company again. read more

This is the first review I've ever written in my life because the customer service was so bad I feel it can't be ignored. They blame Covid and short staffing but that is not an excuse for the particular issues I've had with them. I literally have been trying for a week to get a person on the phone and when I do they tell me everything must be done by email. If it takes extra long on hold because of short staff that's one thing. Refusing to help me when I'm on the phone or in person at the counter is completely different. I cancelled my reservation a month in advance at the counter with the person there. He didn't have the power to cancel my reservation... I tried to cancel over the phone with multiple ppl... they can't I have to email the cancellation department which doesn't have a phone number?? They want to charge me for 3 days of the original 4 day rental even though I attempted to cancel OVER A MONTH IN ADVANCE!!!! Wtf... Me and my gf both travel a lot for work, needless to say we will not be using this company again. read more

Complete amateur hour. Save yourself the hassle and use Silvercar or one of the established car rental companies. Very slow shuttle, but it pales in comparison to how slow all the workers are. Do not rent from them. I made a reservation for a 4 wheel drive vehicle. When I got there they told me that they didn't have any in the vehicle class I reserved and that I would have to pay a fee to upgrade to be able to get a vehicle with 4 wheel drive. What does reservation mean then? While driving it a truck in front of me kicked up a rock that chipped the windshield. Upon return I took pictures and asked the return agent if this would constitute as a damage claim, to which he told me no. He said this happens all the time, that it was an easy fix and there wouldn't be any additional charges. Which was a lie, because 3 months down the road I receive a claim email informing me I owe for the repair as well as their "lost time". I don't appreciate being lied to, but also if I had known they were going to file a claim I could've filed it with the insurance I have on my travel rewards card, but the deadline for filing is 2 months so I was out of luck. Also, they're located far from the airport, and their bus doesn't run very frequently. We waited for the bus for over 30 minutes in the cold. read more

The cheapest car rental place my company found, I guess for a reason. Location is a distance from the airport and other rental places. Shuttle service is exceedingly slow for pickup and return to airport. Waited way too long in comparison with other car rental companies. Online said if I filled out my info early and register that I grab keys and go. No such deal. Pressured to upgrade, took too long at the desk. Asked about an awards program to accelerate the process, was told nothing similar to others in those regards. Car was in need of maintenance, reminded every time I started the car. Beeped until message was noticed. Bottom line, you get what you pay for. Still waiting for the airport shuttle.... read more

The best car rental experience we've ever had! Used the "hot rate" car rental feature on Hotwire and ended up with Sixt. I'm so glad we did! Shuttle ride was fast, check in was very quick (we were helped right away even though it was later at night), car was brand new with great features. Most importantly, checking out when we returned was even better. Immediately whisked onto the shuttle and on our way back to the airport. I would highly recommend this rental car service! This place is absolutely ridiculous. Waiting in line to pickup our vehicle going on 45 minutes now. The place is poorly designed, with nowhere to park your personal vehicle other than on the street while waiting for the rental. Instead of quickly giving over the keys to the patrons in line, the employees are working to up-sale each customer, trying to convince each of us we "need more/better whatever for only $x.xx more a day." read more

This is the worst car rental experience I've ever experienced. I reserved a large SUV rental through Hotwire and Sixt was the rental company. After leaving the airport, the first challenge was to find the shuttle pickup. All the major car rental companies had clear signs. Sixt was only referenced in "Other rentals" and was not clear where to pick up the shuttle. I tried calling the 1 800 number to find out more info, but it was not possible to get through to a human for my question. After finding the shuttle, we rode off site to the pickup location. There were 3 people working the desks, but it was taking significantly slower to check people out. It took at least twice as long as I've experienced at Enterprise or others. We were told our car was not ready and would take 30 minutes to wash. They offered an upgrade to a Minivan which we took. The car had at least 4 different scratches/dents lsted. Once we got in the car, after installing two car seats and getting kids out of the cold Denver weather, we started the car and there was a warning light indicating the start/stop system needed maintenance. We went back in to get an exchange. Again it took 20 minutes to get the exchange. The front desk and the outside workers were not consistent on how to exchange the vehicle. Finally received and exchange Minivan almost an hour after arriving. There were at least 4 scratches and dents on this one as well. Upon our drop off, we returned the car and went to the shuttle bus to go to the airport. The driver made no offer help with luggage and so I had to haul and store 2 large suitcases and car seats by myself. On top of that, he dropped us off at the wrong terminal for Alaska so we had to walk across and out again into the cold (below freezing) just to get to our ticketing section. I will never use this company again and will actively try to persuade friends and family to avoid them in the future. read more

NEVER EVER RENT FROM HERE!! Our rental was stolen in less than 24 hours of having it. The company never helped us or the police. After it was found damaged and returned, they charged us for all the days it was missing and then for filling the tank! They will not budge on the issue and in fact owe us for the days we paid but did not have. Spread the word! Looking to file a class action lawsuit as there are plenty of others who have been screwed as well' read more

When I returned the car I was told there would be no additional charges. Three days later $453.00 was taken out of my account. When contacted, I got the run around for days and was finally told "It was probably a mistake. You can dispute the charge." At that time, I was told I'd be contacted by the Denver branch manager within 48 hours. Over a month later, still no call. They denied my disputed claim. I was told that the next car "occupant complained of a smoke smell." If I had smoked in the car, would the employee not have smelled it when I dropped the car off? I stayed for the post-return inspection. The Sixt employee said "You're good to go." I said "I don't owe any additional charges." He said "No, you're good to go, just sign here." News flash: Signing something saying you owe nothing is worth nothing with this company. Here I am with a recipient saying that I owed nothing, and now I'm told it (the receipt) is worth nothing. Either the employee that said the car was fine, doesn't need to work there if he isn't competent to inspect a car, nor have the authority to sign off on the post-return inspection. He was apparently useless to me, the consumer and the company. Sixt literally trumped up a fraudulent charge. It should be added that due to a life long respiratory condition I can't smoke, nor be around second-hand smoke. I offered a letter from my PCP outlining why I can't smoke and how one cigarette could be deadly to me. They refused the letter and refused to discuss this matter with me. I have over one dozen emails asking for a call and never got one. Steer clear of this company! The Sixt company and the Sixt family should be ashamed of how they have treated customers. read more

(-) The car rental is about 25 min shuttle ride from the airport, so be prepared for this extra time. I don't know about the other companies' location. (-) We started driving and the panel was showing a "maintenance required" sign - we had to come back and talk to the staff. (+) The manager was very sorry and offered us a better car at no extra cost. There was a difference on the prepaid fuel tank, but we explained that when returning the car and we were not charged. (-) The new car was dirty . (+) There were no hidden costs or extra charges after the final invoice. We got a good car at a reasonable price, but the process was a little frustrating with all the inconveniences. read more

All I can say is make sure to rent a car ahead of time! Our group arrived at Denver Airport and the guy in charge of renting decided to 'wait until we arrived.' Normally it is not difficult to find a rental car but after 2 hail storms, most of the rental places had no vehicles available. Thankful Sixt had a couple vehicles that could accommodate a group of 5! The staff was friendly and eager to get us into one of their vehicles. Initially we were set up with a Yukon - with no damage noted. I pointed out the broken taillight and they were happy to give us a 15 passenger van. The van also had no damage noted but had a large scratch/dent along the passenger side. The vehicle itself had not been cleaned. There was trash in the cup holders along the benches and an empty Gatorade bottle under the seat. The price they charged was much higher than what they offer online and they informed us they do not offer any discounts. (On line shows they offer a variety of discounts including military and AAA.) I understand wanting to capitalize on the fact that you are the only option for people needing to rent a car due to hailstorms. But I wish they would have honored prices/discounts they claim to offer online. read more

15 days & still no deposit refund. Plus Sixt has withdrawn an additional charge without authority. Watchout!! What a run-a-round company!!! Setup a reservation online with Sixt. When I got to the Sixt rental facility in Philadelphia, I found out they were not going to honor the reservation even though I had their precious Sixt Express card. The manager was rude and condescending. It took the company 4 days to refund my original prepay reservation amount. Sixt is great for promising Premium cars, but when you get there you can't get them. Now the nightmare begins -- I have to start a new reservation at the rental facility. Not easy. So they take the rental $ and a deposit. No problem. I return car with no incidences and expect my deposit refund in a few days. WRONG. It has been 16 days and no refund in site. In fact they had taken additional money out. When you call all you get is they are looking into it and Sixt will get back to you in 5 business days. I've asked to speak with a manager and there is never a manager available. HORRIBLE COMPANY read more

SCAM: $1,600 IN FEES. We flew to Denver because we had to see doctors there. We used Sixt, and returned the car in perfect condition. After, we got a bill for $900 for a 'scratch'. I picked up the car and everything was fine. When I went to return it however it was a disaster!!! I returned the car, they told me everything was fine and checked me out. Later they send me an email saying I had done damage?? Why wouldn't they bring this up with me at the moment of returning/inspecting the vehicle?? When I replied to the email regarding this I have heard NOTHING back!! Nothing!! This is completely unacceptable and the word for it is SCAM! I was sent an email two weeks after dropping off my rental in Denver, stating that the tire was flat on the car and it was my fault! When I dropped the vehicle off, none of the tires had a flat. I stopped to fill the vehicle up with gas prior to dropping it off and would have noticed a problem with the tire. If the flat happened after I dropped it off on your lot, that is your issue! I can't believe I would be contacted two weeks after the fact. I paid extra for the full coverage insurance with Priceline. I have never had an issue with any other car rental company before, this is ridiculous! read more

Super frustrating experience at Sixt Denver - the shuttle was incredibly late, we waited 30 min and when it arrived it was standing room only, it subsequently dropped us into a line with over 20 customers and 2 tellers. Don't rent from this awful company! 3 Reasons why and our current horror story below. 1. Accusations of Damage being made to the vehicle, even after being cleared to go when dropping off the vehicle. *Per the manager at the DIA location the standard procedure is to inspect the vehicle with the customer in person and have them sign off at the time of return. We were notified 5 days later. 2. Service B Light Indicator. 3. Oil change needed on day one of a 15 day rental. My husband, 2 small children and I were planning a road trip and decided to rent a car through this company. We went in to pick up our vehicle on 6/17/2019 from the DIA (Denver) location. At pickup, we discussed with the sales clerk our final destination being Oregon and the states we would be driving through. We also paid for road side assistance and an additional driver. Shortly into our trip the OIL SERVICE light came on... Then our SERVICE B light came on. The service B for this particular car includes: Annual inspection, brakes, belts, hoses, leaks, changing cabin filter and dust filter, rotation of tires, windshield replacement blades and checking fluids. The annual inspection is intended for safety. These 2 light indicators had us completely freaked out, as we were not only driving a far distance but traveling with 2 small children and driving through remote areas. I called Sixt Auto rental and let them know about the light indicators. The lady whom I spoke to, said to do only do the oil change, which I paid for out of pocket at the time, but not to do the service B maintenance. This made us furious! How neglectful on this company's part to send us out in a vehicle that clearly needed service! Not to mention to take time away from our vacation to get this done. At the dealership they were surprised that this company would send us on in a vehicle that was due for service. They also let us know that the windshield wiper blades were basically trash and it was not all that safe to be driving around with bad wipers. I told them I was only authorized to do the oil change and not the service B. Since Sixt Auto did not authorize for Service B, we also had to continuously to see/listen to the light indicator pop up with how many miles we were over the maintenance. We returned our vehicle on 7/1/2019. Upon returning the vehicle we pulled into the return lane and a man came up and looked at the vehicle. I spoke to him and asked who I should talk with for the reimbursement of maintenance issues. He said I was good to go and told me to go inside and ask for a manager. I then went into the building and spoke with the manager. She apologized for the inconvenience and reimbursed me for the oil change and gave us a small amount back, for taking it to be serviced. I was given a final receipt by the manager and told that everything was good to go. We also received our full deposit back for the Vehicle that had been pending on our credit card. On Saturday, July 6th ( 5 DAYS LATER) we received an email from the company, claiming damage ( a small dent on the passenger door). I immediately called the company because I was so confused because we did not dent this car and wanted to get it resolved immediately. But guess what? The claims department is only open Monday-Friday... Could you imagine being accused of something so awful and then not being able to resolve it!? And then having to wait all weekend wondering and worrying?! This essentially ruined our weekend, because even though we received the email on Saturday, we had to wait until Monday, July 8th before calling. On Monday, July 8th I called first thing in the am and spoke to a person in claims. I let her know that I could not see any visible damage in the pictures that were provided through the claims portal that had been sent to us because the photo and resolution were so poor. I also let her know that we were told everything was good to go and were even speaking with a manager during the return process. The customer service agent was not helpful and I asked to speak to her manager. I was told I would receive a call back 24-48hrs. We have not received a call back at the time of writing this review. On Monday, my husband decided to the location and ask to speak to a manager so he could see the damaged vehicle. Please also note: there is no customer parking at the facility and you have to park on the street.* Just as a side note and probably a bad omen, my husband was attacked by angry nesting birds on his walk into the premise and again on the way out! (not joking).* When my husband met with the manager he was told that the vehicle was not on the lot and that he could email my husband the information of when it was returned and high resolution photos. We have not received an email with return date and high resolution photos at the time or writing this review. read more

Made my reservation through Orbitz to rent a premium SUV. Ended up paying twice from what my reservation was for a Cadillac ST5. The front counter person was helpful and friendly as was the shuttle driver. Our biggest complaint - when renting a premium vehicle you expect it to be detailed and ready to go - the dirty windows and crumbs everywhere were not noticed until we exited and were on the freeway. I had a fantastic experience with this company. They gave me a great car at a reasonable price. The shuttle from the airport was as timely as any other rental company. The shuttle was a little bit slow taking me to the airport at 8 PM on a Monday, so I think they may be more strongly staffed during the day, but that was a very strong staff! They were very friendly and helpful when I was checking in. I will definitely use them again. read more

I can't believe there are negative reviews; my experience was stellar. First off, Sixt is a lot less expensive than other rental agencies. I saw this but rented the car, and I was expecting---nothing much. The exact opposite is what I got! First, we got in and out in two minutes at the counter, and then we were told where the car was. I couldn't believe the car in the spot was the right one. It was larger than I thought, roomy, with all sorts of amenities like heated seats and so much leg room--nicer than my own car! The location is a ways away, but it's still close, and you get a great car for an AMAZING price. I will rent from them again--thanks, Sixt! Denver Sixt ROCKS!! Also: After reading the other negative reviews, I have to comment. The person who complained about the high cost of gas if you don't bring the car back with a full tank: this is true at EVERY car rental agency! There were lots of gas stations within 10 miles of the airport that we picked from to fill up the tank beforehand. And to the people who complained that the person who reserved the car had to be there in person when it is picked up--you could have called Sixt and asked that question ahead of time, like I did. This is for your protection so nobody but YOU--the person who rented the car--is actually charged for it. I called that morning as I wanted my son to pick it up himself, and they told me that I had to be there. So be pro-active, get the information ahead of time, and stop at a gas station! read more

Loved that I was upgraded to a Mercedes from a Nissan! But extremely disappointed that I was contacted the day after I returned the vehicle in regards to them having no record of the return. After much frustration (multiple calls and speaking to 3 people, Ahmad was one of them, he's like the top person at the DIA location- he sucks) it was resolved. I wish I had checked the Yelp reviews before going with this Sixt as the Google reviews were decent. This company will take advantage of you if you do not take pictures of the vehicle before you drive it off the lot. I got in late, did a quick scan, and drove off. I should have known to take pictures since the vehicle looked like it was not well maintained nor had been vacuumed or cleaned in weeks. They also convinced me to pre pay for tolls saying they would be faster. The toll roads were not faster and when I didn't use them, I didn't get my money back. They also are charging me over 500 dollars for a scratch I did not cause and looks like it's been there for years. It's severely rusted. This place seems like a deal, but they get there's. Just research sixt and the numerous people who want to file class action lawsuits against them for shady business practices. I will be joining them. I'm sure the manager will reach out and suggest I contact the customer service team who will be happy to assist me. They are very unhelpful and difficult to get a hold of. Never again. read more

They were the cheapest for a Mercedes, and I was very skeptical because of the negative reviews. Checking in was seamless. Car was in perfect shape. Drop off was seamless. Shuttle ride was seamless. Employees were pleasant. We were given great directions. I was worried there was going to be hidden charges or up charges, but everything was straightforward and honest!
