I give it 2 stars just because of my past experience, if not I wouldn't even give them 1 Pros: Cheap when prepaying, nice shuttle drivers. Cons: Dirty car, too slow to process receipt information, Rude representatives, Hard to check for damage when the car is dirty, price change when getting there. Long story short, I didn't want the car that they had for my reservation because the employees were driving around in it. Got a lower class car for the same price. Representative was rude and angry. The car that I got was dirty from the inside and outside. Not enough signs that can guide you to the return the car. Return lady and shuttle drivers were the best thing this time. It has been almost a week and I had not received anything yet. When looking at the app, it shows that I'm still renting the car and when trying to call customer service they hang up. I already sent them an email to their customer service email but so far I haven't received anything I know that moving to a new location can be chaotic but isn't like there were a lot of clients or anything for me to recieve this treatment and not get the answers to the emails. I just hope that they don't charge me anything extra or as if I'm still in possession of the car. read more

Call me naive but I thought a European car rental company trying to break into the crowded US market would "try harder" but man this company is the WORST. Charged us $475 for dings in the bumper that were already there, despite getting a clean inspection on return of the car. We prepaid for a weekend rental and when we went to add a day they increased the price for the original days by $400, which we were forced to pay because we'd prepaid. And the pièce de résistance was charging us $125 for gas when we filled the tank before returning it but - get this - if you don't have it topped it at the return they (over)charge for the full tank. I guess we should have pushed the car from the gas station so we didn't use a half gallon. So that's $1,000 they robbed us for a weekend rental on top of the rental charge. I received an e-mail from Sixt after about 4 weeks of requesting a full refund. They kept $100 of my reservation because I pre-paid for my entire reservation up front. Even though I cancelled in plenty of time, pre-paying for your reservation in advance is frowned upon? They say it's to lock in at a special rate but that does't explain why a full refund isn't issued. If I would have reserved a car with out paying in full, there would be no penalty. Makes sense??? Why isn't it the same for people who do pay in full?? Sounds like a scam. I'm paying for the people who didn't pay in full up front and then cancelled. This company is a rip off. This company is a total scam and I wish I had read all of the reviews beforehand. I rent cars all of the time and this is the first shady company I've ever dealt with. I had the car less than 48 hours, used less than a tank of gas and paid $55 a day at my hotel so I could park in a secure area away from other cars. 3 days after I returned the car they report I've scratched a rear bumper down to the primer. No I didn't! The damage was clearly there already. Btw I made my reservation through Expedia for a RAV4 and I picked up the car from the Denver airport at almost 2am. They "upgraded" me to a BMW in a dark parking lot with no inspection or light to see the vehicle. The scratch was obviously already there. Clearly a scam from this company to make me pay to fix their already damaged entry level BMW. I've never been "upgraded" for a rental car before so clearly this is their scam. Also, I've never dropped off a car without an inspection. They wait until you're long gone, flew out of the airport into another city and then 3 days later hit you up for "damages". I drive a much nicer car than this and don't scratch, damage, hit or back up into things, I'm an LA driver ffs. I'll be leaving this same review on all of the sites to warn people to stay away from them. Expedia has a false 9+ rating for Sixt when the other big car rental companies have 6's. Clearly something fishy is going on with the Expedia rating being inflated when their google and Yelp reviews are dismal 1 stars. AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! We filled up the car with gas before returning and then found a $192 charge on our credit card when we returned home. Found out that they charged us (fraudulently, as no receipt or notification was ever sent) for gas. They figure people won't notice! Spent hours trying to call them and they only paid attention when I disputed the charge with my credit card company. DON'T TRUST THIS COMPANY! Update: I emailed documentation of my claim 2 weeks ago to both their customer service and accounting departments and have heard nothing back from either. However the negative review finally got some attention. I will not contact them again to resolve. The charge was canceled by my credit card company, so I finally got resolution that way. Second update: SIXT is still pursuing collection of the fraudulent fuel charge. But ironically, the documentation they provided shows that the fuel tank was 8/8 (completely) full upon return of the vehicle, which contradicts their claim, LOL. Terrible customer service. I waited for about an hour before service and even when there was a counter available the person at the counter took 10-15 minutes to look up at me before helping me. Our vehicle was not what we requested. I asked for a Jeep Grand Cherokee or similar. Instead I received much smaller crossover SUV. It seemed like most of the staff was friendly, but my person at the counter who I wish I could remember her name was rude and standoffish especially when it came to talking about adding insurance. I had booked and bought my insurance through Expedia and she tried to convince me to add their own and that Expedia didn't cover anything. read more

Sixt is Hands Down The World's Worst Car Rental Hands down the worst car rental company. I prepaid for 3-day rental and when I added an extras day, they used that opportunity to charge me an extra $400+. I'm an idiot and didn't cancel it then. I returned the car 7/8 full which gave them the opportunity to share me $127. But wait there's more. The car was inspected at the airport and no new damage was noted or pointed out to me. The car had countless dins which were pointed out to me before beginning the rental. I just it an email from them with photos of two less than half-inch dings which they are attributing to me and claiming they warrant a bumper replacement at nearly $500. Do not use Sixt. This company deserves negative stars. NEVER HIRE FROM THIS COMPANY. I was looking for cars for two days from the Denver airport to the Eagle/Vail airport. This time of the season (summer 2023) is a very busy time of the year and cars were basically non existent to hire. So, I hired a car from SIXT that came to $2300 some dollars for 2 days?! Of course, immediately after I hired this car, a car became available through Hertz for $212. I hired the car from Hertz and called a representative, directly, from Sixt. This rep. told me that I could cancel immediately; but I would have a $100 fee. I told them "that was basically extortion". The rep. from SIXT on the told me to email a 'higher up' representative from SIXT and that 'if I explained the situation he/she would DEFINITELY return the $100 fee'. I had a series of emails with a "Colin" from sixt-reservations-usa@sixt.com who patronizingly told me that I would not receive the $100 in any way shape or form. Basically it was a series of emails that politely and basically repeated and explained to me how their extortion scheme worked. Each time telling me, basically, 'thanks for the $100 bucks, schmuck'. During and after this failure, I called my credit card company and explained the situation. They opened a dispute for me. So, we'll see. This Colin was very intent on keeping that $100 bucks. Usually such small change is nothing to these large companies and they do not bother to answer the dispute and I get my mo eh back. Not Colin. For sure he'll be all over this one and my $100 dollars will be gone. $2300+ for a Rav-4 or the like!!! Seriously!!! SIXT isn't even at the airport. You have to take a shuttle off airport grounds for some 20 mins. to get your car and where you pick up the shuttle? I don't know. I looked very hard before boarding the shuttle to Hertz but never saw any sign or indication where to pick up the shuttle to SIXT. So, I got on the shuttle to Hertz for a 2-5 min drive, where as "President Club" member, I simply walked out back and choose among the few, but enough, small SUVs that were there. I cannot believe that they can get away with this. No car rental company in the states has a fee for cancelling, even up to the time that you arrive at the airport! I repeat. NEVER HIRE FROM SIXT UNLESS YOU ARE AN IDIOT LIKE ME OR A MILLIONAIRE WHO JUST DOESN'T CARE TO PAY $2000 FOR THE SAME CAR THAT IS $200 AT ANOTHER COMPANY. Slow down, websites have glitches and when you are absolutely freaking out, like me, don't take just anything to have something with extortion in small print impossible to find! Rather, call and speak to a representative from a US based car rental company and get a proper car at a proper price. Please don't rent from this company! We wouldn't give them any stars if it were possible. These people are thieves. We prepaid in full online which did include taxes. When we picked up the car we were told we had to pay $200 more--but it would be returned within a few days of our returning the car. We never received a credit. Instead, we were sent a trumped-up final invoice which showed that we were over-charged $238.02. And we have been unable to resolve this situation. What in the world! I have been renting cars for over 30 years and never have I been accused of damaging a vehicle. We rented a car for a family wedding in May. It was pouring buckets of rain, so we did not have an opportunity to review the vehicle. On our way out of the lot, the employee in the booth did not examine the vehicle either. Great rental experience with Sixt. We went to Iceland in June and had a wonderful experience with Sixt. We booked for our trip to Denver and it was a good experience again. They are reasonably priced and have a good selection of cars. Their office is far away from the airport! You'll get picked up by the shuttle bus, without any confusion, and shuttled to the location. We walked in and Nikol helped us with the car. Of course, we got the upsell on insurance and full tank of gas but that's everywhere. She saw we were going up in to the mountains and had three kids with us amd upgraded us to a Chevy Equinox. We had no problems with billing. Our only snag was our own fault. We needed to add an additional day and an additional driver after originally booking. It was about a week and a half before we were to arrive so the charges were much higher. This is a bait and switch situation. We pre-paid for a luxury car- a Mercedes SUV. They said we had to have a credit card in order to take the car. They offered us an alternate car- a Chevy. They gave us a ridiculous 10 percent discount off the price of the Mercedes rental. They were very confusing and just kept saying "it's on our website that's it's a policy." That's not helpful. ...And we just saw that another person there at the same time had the same thing happen. They paid for an SUV and had to walk out with a Nissan. Worst experience ever. Arrived at Tampa Airport at 11:30 pm stood in line until after midnight. They refused to honor the prepaid reservation. There were about 20 people in line and they told everyone they were not honoring same day reservations. They told us to call priceline that booked it and gauranteed the reservation. We stood outside after the shuttle dropped us off (which the shuttle driver was great and the ride pleasant) for about an hour. Waiting. Use this rental company as a last resort. While they advertise having luxury cars and competitive rates, they lack in customer service and efficiency. I booked and rented a car in Denver today. It took 1 hour from the time I showed up to the pick up location to the time I got my car. This may seem like normal to some, but I use a National brand and I can go from pickup spot to exit in 15 minutes. Sixt advertises as a competitive and progressive company. I got the feeling I was buying a used car and being "worked" more than a customer who rents cars 30+ times a year. Look elsewhere by companies that have been around longer. I have never written a review for a rental car experience but the Sixt team in Denver was fabulous. I worked with a very accommodating agent (I believe his name was Will) he was born in France and he could not have been more pleasant. When I asked to pay for an upgrade, he found an amazing car and worked with his manager, (who was also fabulous) to get everything taken care of. But the great service did not stop there. The car was new and none of us could figure out how to put the top down, I literally had the entire staff surrounding the car, attempting to help me. Boy I wrote a glowing review in May for Sixt because they bent over backwards to help me when I was renting a car during the pandemic after visiting my dying father, who passed away. They waived the one way rental fee.... until 4 months later when they charged me $1100 dollars for a one way rental fee and wouldn't refund it despite it having been "waived" in the first place. Let's be clear. If I just ate the nonrefundable rental and started over with another company, I'd be out $200, not $1100. And I forgot my YSL cardholder with an Id, driver license and Credit card. I tried to contact on every possible way. Do not rent from this company! I had a recent experience where the vehicle had a tire with a slow leak. I filled the tire with air several times and while I was driving on the highway the tire popped. I tried calling Sixt roadside assistance and their service was down so I was on my own to get the tire changed. The gentleman changing my tire said that the tire leak was preexisting as Sixt had marked the tire with an "X" where the leak had occurred. Once I finally reached their service dept many hours later they offered to bring me another vehicle as I had to get to the airport the next morning. They are now charging me $1,700! which included replacing the tire and $1300 for TOWING!! I have not been able to get anywhere with their claims department and they are threatening to send me to collections. I WILL NEVER RENT FROM THIS COMPANY EVER AGAIN! BEWARE! read more

Where do I start... first of all the vehicle had a faulty tire. By the time I reached my destination, the tire was flat because it had a large piece of metal shrapnel in it. Whatever jerk dropped it off last must have filled the tire last minute to avoid getting charged for the damage so, lucky for me, I had to deal with the mess. I didn't even use the car during my trip because I didn't feel safe driving on a donut so this whole experience was a complete waste of money. It just sat in the driveway the entire trip. Then when I return the vehicle back to the airport, the lady said everything looked good (other than the tire obviously). However when I got home, I received an email claiming that I caused damage to the front of the vehicle when I barely drove the car in the first place! Plus their employee said the vehicle is in good shape! No one checked the vehicle for damage with me when I picked up the car so how can they hold anyone responsible when their entire check in and check out process is completely erroneous?? I have never experienced such a flawed system and the fact that they try to charge innocent people for damage that was never properly recorded in the first place, should be illegal. Oh, I also forgot to mention that I prepaid $600 for my car online then upgraded for an additional $150 which I paid for upon check in. Now, I receive an invoice showing a remaining balance where (surprise, surprise) the $150 is not included. Trying to get through to anyone at Sixt to fix this has been a nightmare. Needless to say, my whole experience was a complete disaster and utterly time consuming. Never again will I rent a car from Six. Booked "Rav4 or similar" online, which means that you'll get some class in the category, but if you wanted a Rav4 because of 4wd then you are out of luck. We were shown the picture of a significantly larger SUV that they said had lower MPG and had FWD. The SUV being offered was not the one we were shown, and it also had better gas mileage than what we were given. Initially, we said no, but then I looked up the car on my phone and saw it had significantly better mpg than what we were getting, and it was smaller than the model we were shown - so we agreed to take the car. Then it vanished and wasn't available to us anymore. We ended up having to pay for a "4 wheel drive upgrade" and they gave us a "free car upgrade". When I called Sixt to talk to them about this situation they said that there is no such thing as the 4WD upgrade, it's just an upgrade. After much convo with the national line I got 1/2 the fee returned to me. Everyone we talked to was fine, and the car worked fine for us. If we weren't wanting 4wd for our trip through Rocky Mountains and into Utah then it probably wouldn't even be an issue. Unfortunately in this case "similar to car with 4wd except what you get is no 4wd" is immensely frustrating. DIA has plenty of rental car options and I can't see myself renting here again. Edit: Just noticed my invoice was for "Intermediate Off Road" which makes it more confusing why we weren't offered another vehicle with AWD or 4WD. read more

This shuttle system is awful. We got to the airport pickup location at 11:00pm (specifically following the instructions to wait at the "Off Airport Rental Car Pick Up Sign"). Knowing that the office closes at midnight, we thought we had plenty of time to get to Sixt...but we were wrong. There was a group of 6 of us that waited, and waited, and waited and waited some more. You could feel the anger + anxiety rising in the bitter cold night. After getting absolutely nowhere with the provided phone numbers online, it was now 11:40pm so my husband and I decided to take a Lyft over to Sixt instead. We got there with 2 minutes to spare... While using the tracker to see where the shuttle was, we could tell that the shuttle conveniently decided to not even go over to the West side (red) to pick up passengers. The folks at the front desk were less than helpful and their only response was, "oh there were shuttles out". alsjdflasdfjalsdjf. I promptly responded by saying, well there's 6 other groups here that OBVIOUSLY didn't use your shuttle. Oh well. Lesson learned. Pay the extra few $$$$ and go with a reputable car rental company - one whose actual office number is listed and available online. read more

Then 2 days after my rental I was charged $188.00 in fuelling?? Never once said anything just charged my card. I have sent 4 emails and called twice and sat on the phone for 30+ minutes with no answer in the past 2 weeks to inquire what this charge was for. No answer and no one has returned my emails. Prepaid for a mini van but apparently needed 4 wheel drive. No problem pay a little more...... twice the bill. Rates fluctuate and apparently they are very high last minute. Had to cancel my vehicle and got the same Rav4 from Enterprise for 1/2 the price of Six T and Ive been informed that I most likely will not get a full refund. If I hadn't change my rental, they would have been the better deal. Now SixT leaves a bad taste in my mouth. MY CAR BROKE DOWN AND THEY WOULDN'T ANSWER THE PHONE. You are probably thinking "wow, that's cheap! Let's give Sixt a try!" Don't do this to yourself...learn from my mistake. The signage is confusing, the service is slow, and they don't answer the phone when there's a problem -- like if your car overheats or the trunk is stuck closed. Yep, it's 2018, and there are still companies that rent lemons. Sixt is one of them. I've made a credit card dispute after Sixt's customer service denied my refund request. Pay a few bucks more next time. Update: I see that Sixt has replied to this review. Sixt: please deal more fairly with my bank than you did with me, and I'll be happy to take this down. Update (2): they fought me on the credit card dispute - whoever was in charge of the paperwork must have lied to Visa through their teeth. Stay FAAAARRRR away from this branch. Update (3): 1/31/19 after months of back and forth, they sent me a $30 voucher for another rental. This was after lying to Visa and denying anything is wrong with the car. Anyway - if they try to rent you a white full-sized Lincoln...it overheated twice! And they've consistently lied about it! Check all your fluid levels (including gas) before you drive your car away from the Sixt lot, and take photos of any lights that come up on the dash. Or just call Hertz! read more

Giving 2 stars because their shuttle employees are the sweetest and they deserve 5 stars. My overall experience with Sixt was complete crap. The man who checked me in was annoying and constantly trying to upgrade my car. I ended up with a Hyundai Sonata- it had no pick up at all and felt like a hazard on the highway. My bill ended up being $300 for a 32 hour rental- this is for a basic Hyundai Sonata that did not have any of the bells and whistles. They also charged me a fueling fee of $89 when I was told that I would be charged for 4 gallons at $9 a gallon. When I received my bill from Sixt, the description of car that it says I rented was a "Full Size Limousine." Last I checked a Hyundai Sonata is certainly not a limousine. I had to lower my star rating based on the level of customer service shown after I left my review. A few minutes after leaving my review I got a response from Sixt stating to email them so they can look into the issues I complained about in my review. They told me to use a provided reference number along with information to find my rental reservation. I sent an email with the provided reference number in the subject line and I attached the rental return form that Sixt emailed to me. This morning I got an email that said they could not find my reservation with the information that I sent them. It's baffling that they are not able to find a reservation in their system from a document they sent to me. I emailed them back pointing out that it's weird that they can't find a reservation from their own documentation. I went and found the reservation number and sent it back to them. A few minutes later I get an email back stating that the total for my rental appears to be correct. I never said anything about not being billed properly for me rental so I have no idea why that email was sent back to me or what they contacted me for if that's all they had to offer. I was fine with just leaving my Yelp review, now they have lowered their rating by engaging me in pointless customer service emails. read more

I have an existing rental courtesy of Hotwire and have been on hold to Sixt for almost 3 hours to speak to someone! I think they are not at this location anymore because NO ONE is answering the phones. I will be traveling alone and if I should have a problem with the car I will never be able to talk to anyone from that company. I will file a complaint (if it will do any good) to Hotwire. They should drop these people from the available list of car rentals. I would love to give this company a big fat zero stars. read more
