We dined here shortly after the restaurant opened. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. The restaurant is on the 6th floor and parking is available in the garage next door which is very convenient (it's like 2$ two parlor free depending on the time length). The valet parking is also validated so I was told. This is located in he Waterstreet area of downtown with views of the Hillsborough River. We had a 2 seat table near or against the wall which wasn't the best table or even ideal for the view and it was also very dimly lit. There was better seating (chairs with low coffee tables) near the edge with the best view, but they may have been reserved. The seating and the low cielings really took away from the "rooftop" vibe as this floor is separated by the pool and lounge area and that is completely roofless and open air, but you can't eat over there. Anyway, our waitress was neither friendly or completely rude she just did her job. She did make a few comments that bothered me like about my weight and how much I eat or what I would eat; I really don't like that. As for her checking on which menu items were gluten free because I have Celiac Disease she did and everything was 100% safe. I am highly sensitive to gluten and had no issues with the food. It did take a while to come out because they said they were making sure everything was gluten free and not cross contaminated so I REALLY appreciate that. I wasn't sure what would be safe for me on the menu which was a deterrent for visiting, but I was very happy with the food. The JW Marriott is beautiful and I could not have been more disappointed in this restaurant. The dinner service was literally atrocious even though there were only three tables in use in the whole restaurant. Checked out the new JW Marriott downtown and it is absolutely beautiful! The restaurant six is currently taking reservations - call only. There's a big outdoor dining space and you can catch the beautiful sunset across the bay / convention center! On the other side is their bar area with egg chairs, cocktail tables and patio seating. Their cocktails are around $16 but totally worth it! The lavender fields cocktail was so good! The gin and lavender balanced itself out very well - light, fragrant and refreshing. Excellent lunch! Six is a restaurant at the new JW Marriott at Waterside in Tampa. The restaurant is on the sixth floor of the hotel with indoor and outdoor dining with a well stocked bar! We decided to eat outdoors by the pool. There is ample outdoor seating. The atmosphere of the outdoor space is very relaxing and a cool and smooth vibe. The servers were excellent and knowledgeable about the menu. I started with the Lyonnaise salad and it was delicious and every bite was flavorful. It was a Romaine branch with bacon, orange, mustard seeds, quail eggs and lime Caesar. Each bite was full of zest and flavor. The Romaine was perfectly crunchy as was the bacon. The lime Caesar gave each bite a really nice twang. The texture of each item was perfect in every bite. I also had the steak sandwich which was also delicious. Skirt Steak, pepper and red onions, horseradish sauce on a hoagie with melted cheddar cheese. It was delish. I had my steak medium and added pepper. Got lucky with a misty evening! We were able to get close parking right next to the JW Marriott Hotel. First impression, this place is hard to find online presence, even on social media/google. Beautiful lobby bar with live music-which is very hard to find in South Tampa/downtown area -that gets 5 stars. I had called around 4p to get a reservation for 4 people at 6:15p and they told me no more reservations were available. They didn't suggest the didn't reserve all tables and to give them a try??!! So, we decided we would go anyway. The place had very few tables occupied. We were able to get right in. We enjoyed good service. Apps: The shrimp ceviche was SO yummy, along with the vegetable croquettes. Yum. Came out quick. Main: I had the beet salad-yummy! Food took a little while-we weren't in a hurry-but good to know in case you are. Dessert: chocolate truffle cake was SO great-the apple thing wasn't good to me, and the sorbet had no flavor. All of my friends enjoyed their food. I loved the rose colored glasses cocktail. I also loved my decaf espresso martini. Delicious way to end the meal. I'd definitely go back. I looked at the inviting menu and decided to order dinner. The Churrasco Steak was SO juicy, so tender. I ordered medium rare but "more on the red side," and it was delivered! What a rarity! The female patrons next to me encouraged me to order a dessert drink from the bartender, and it was out of this world! I told him I liked chocolate and banana flavored desserts and he delivered! I am surprised by the average reviews here. I was much more impressed then the 3.5 stars I see on yelp. In fact, the only reason I am not going 5 stars is value and menu offerings for vegetarians, so lets start there. They don't really even try to accommodate vegetarians or vegans. Yes, they will disagree - they have salads and a cauliflower steak entree, but lets be real. All you're doing is slicing a cauliflower very thick and throwing it on the grill. That's not an entree - that's an extra large side item. It still frustrates me that these chefs can't even try something with tofu or seitan or lentils or impossible/beyond meat. It's lazy. And I'm not even vegetarian - I'm marrying one - but there are enough of them out there that you'd think a fancy restaurant would put in a modicum of effort. At least it was only $20, which was probably the cheapest thing we ordered. As for value - I'm sorry, but we are not in Manhattan and the prices are outrageous for what you get. Cocktails $16+, my small grouper entree $40. Appetizers $15+. Yes, I know we chose to eat here knowing the prices, but you're a hotel restaurant in Tampa, not Central Park West. Okay, on to the good. The meal was excellent. We split a snapper crudo appetizer - basically snapper ceviche - and it was fresh and delicious though kinda small. My grouper was crusted with something and in a mushroom broth that was to die for. If there was bread service I would have been soaking up the broth all night. Drinks were hit and miss. The old fashioned was a sad excuse for an old fashioned but their mezcal drink on their cocktail menu was very good. Service was on point and the views are wonderful. We had a very good time and frankly I would go 4.5 stars if I could, but given how much money we spent, I think the value leaves something to be desired and again, it would be nice if their vegetarian option included some protein. It's located right next to the Pam Iorio parking garage. It has a very nice rooftop location with a stringer light illuminated green lawn area facing south and outdoor dining facing west for those sunset views. If you wanted to hang out at the green lawn area, you can order drinks and/or takeout food at the outside counter. Otherwise, you can go inside to be seated in the restaurant. My first drink was the lavender field cocktail. It was good, but a bit small for $16. All cocktails are $16 which is a bit pricey for what I've been tasting. I also had the rose colored glasses cocktail. I was not a fan of the taste at all, but it was very pretty. The prices overall were a bit unnecessarily high for what was offered. For example, the average glass of wine is approximately $12-$15. The chicken meatballs were delicious! I had a taste of one of my friends mushrooms and would totally get those for myself, if I come here again next time. The six burger was good. The fries were OK. However, the pickle was nasty. The pickle that came with the burger did not taste like a pickle at all. The pickle tasted like they watered it down for 24 hours or more. Additional note, I had a tab open at the counter then got seated in the restaurant and forgot to close it there so I told the waitress about it and was told there was nothing she could do about it. Both are very lovely and have very nice views. I'm giving it a place four stars because while I did enjoy my food it is definitely pricey so this is the place to go when you don't mind dropping a lot of money. I had the duck confit bruschetta and the lyonnaise salad because I'm trying to watch my carb and calorie intake. I thought the duck confit was pretty good but expensive for the amount that you get. I did feel my salad was a great size and very worth the price. The wine and the cocktails are definitely pricey so keep that in mind. I definitely want to come back here for my birthday and then the place I would come back to you with friends as well because ultimately you're paying for the nice view and a nice experience. It was a weeknight so it wasn't crowded and the outdoor seating areas were first come first serve. It is attached to both the hotel's pools so it will get crowded when people are out enjoying the amenities of the hotel. Drinks can be ordered at the walk up window. There was no table side service at the outdoor areas when we were there. The cocktail menu was a bit sparse and pricey, but they do have a good selection of liquor and a full bar to make anything you'd want. The bartender was quick and very pleasant.
