Sit Means sit saved my family! Rocco has had a rough past and his future wasn't bright sitting in a shelter. He was abused and then sat in a shelter for 3 years (where he was loved!) We adopted him in July 2019. He settled in well, but right before we found out we were pregnant in September 2019, he bit my husband as to protect me from him. No protection was needed. We didn't know what to do and I was concerned we wouldn't be a family! I called Julie at sit means sit and ended up doing the board and train program in October 2019 and continued group training after and still do today! Feb 15, 2020, Rocco passed the AKC Canine Good Citizen test and is working on becoming a therapy dog! That's less than 5 months of working with Julie and her team at sit means sit! What a difference! We love going to group training and will continue to improve Rocco's skills even more! I would recommend sit means sit and Julie and her team to everyone! When I came to sit means sit I had a huge problem on my hands. My current dog wanted to kill the puppy that I adjust brought home. We could not have them in the same room without him trying to kill her. We went to see Lilli at sitting sit and we did the reactive rehab program within about four days he was already behaving better. After the two weeks of working with Lilli he is no longer reacting. Dogs. He has learned all his commands and he is a better dog all around. Sit Means Sit has really helped our family through a difficult time and I recommend them highly if you were encountering. What could improve? EVERYTHING! After procrastinating a good fit for my Cane Corso and I, we chose Sit Means Sit, as all those advertisements and 5 star reviews were quite deceiving. I made an appointment for an evaluation had a great conversation and so far I was very much convinced this was the place for my reactive dog and I. Well little to know it was going to be worst decision and place I could have chosen for my dog and I. I came to this facility due to having a reactive dog. I started back in March it is now June and I still sit at home with a reactive dog limiting the places I can take him. It's absurd! I followed all the procedures even after the 2 week training. Which all that was done during training were obedience commands. While I brought my pet for reactivity?? Ok, moving forward group classes were next. There I am as a good dog mom taking him and processing with such. Just to have some people who have not showed up in months get all the attention with their reactive dog. It is unfair and injustice! While I had been patiently waiting for the help. It also doesn't sound right when I had to constantly beg for the help my dog needs. I paid for the service I should get the help without having to beg for it. Not sure why I wasn't treated or got the help like all the other clients? It is confirmed that their specialty are not dogs who are reactive like mine.(Cane Corso) It is just false advertisement when they say they can help you with any kind of dog breed. If the facility Sit Means Sit did not have the capability of helping me with my pet. I should have been told so at the evaluation, or yet I should have been only charged for they advising me to buy a E collar and figure the rest out on my own. To concluded my review I'm highly disappointed, dissatisfied, and now discouraged since I put in lots of time, effort, energy and money. Sit Means Sit literally changed my dogs life. I've got two dogs, Margot and Penny. They used to be best friends when they were puppy and got a long great, but as time went on the two girls started fighting more and more. What started out as stare downs from our little 15lbs Penny went on to becoming a emergency vet visit that ended with stitches in the neck from a nasty fight between the two. That's when we turned to Mike and his team back when they were called Top Notch Dog Training back in September of 2021. Mike took both dogs in and did a Bored and Train and had them for about 3 weeks. When we went to pick them both up they were still themselves but 100 times better! We couldn't believe what they were able to do in just the short 3 weeks. Margot and Penny were running around playing together which we hadn't seen happen in a very long time and they were happy! The happiest I had ever seen them. Months down the road and we are still shocked at the progress Margot and Penny have made. I never have to worry about them doing something bad or getting into fights (caused by them) or running off when off leash or nothing. We still continue to go to group training, as much a possible, that is offered by Mike and his team that is held weekly. And we try our best to follow Mikes advice when it comes to maintaining their training at home. Knowing what I know now, I only wish I would have gone to them sooner. My dogs are the happiest I've ever seen them, they are so obedient and friendly and they make being dog owners fun. Poor training and lack of training. We would drop off our dog for one on one training at a residential location and every time we would go to pick up the dog, no one was there doing training and the dog was in a kennel. We would have to wait for someone to come home in order to pick up the dog. Only thing we got out of it is 'place' and a training collar. Waste of time and money and unprofessional behavior by the owner of not being at the residence for training. read more

So, since I have been muted on Facebook for leaving an honest comment on their page I am now going to yelp. Do NOT go here. I was charged $2000+ for two dogs. One is reactive and the other has anxiety. They rely on nothing but a shock collar because "dogs don't speak english". My dog can do all his tricks by voice and no hand signals so I was already put off. For my reactive boy I was told to push the shock button every time I gave a command and hold it till he made eye contact. He became VERY fearful of the collar by the third session he would drop to the ground and pee if I picked it up. Our second dog cried and whined the whole time and the trainer kept pushing the button. I only got 4 sessions for my reactive dog and she said he was fine. He has not changed to this day, our second dog is still anxious and licking a hole in her foot, and there are no refunds. This place is not okay and I am very disappointed. read more

The first is a Shepard pup that became fearful and therefor aggressive. we have children in the family so our dog was quickly becoming a danger for them. Mike and his crew took our dog in and in three weeks she came back to us a completely different dog. I'm not kidding, in just three weeks she no longer saw the world as a dangerous place. the trainers at Sit Means Sit truly care about your dog and do everything they can to help them have fun in their world. They offer very good and informative follow up training not only for the dog but for the owners. They offer Sunday classes for all enrollees to keep their training sharp and to add new abilities. I would absolutely recommend these guys not just for a dog that needs basic training but especially if you have behavioral issues and think you've come to the end of your rope and may need to give your dog up. Julie has been an amazing blessing to our lives. Our dog (2.5-3 yrs old) had been through a traumatic experience at a dog kennel and became fearful of some dogs and humans. We dealt with these issues for about a year without much improvement. We tried multiple trainers with ultimate feedback usually being "this is just how your dog is." We had begun to start believing they were right. Julie came into our lives and changed everything. Our dog responded to her immediately. He was always a well trained dog but has become even more impressive with her guidance. More importantly, we have seen incredible improvements in his temperament and happiness in the presence of other dogs and humans. Additionally, we had always wanted a 2nd dog in the house as a playmate for him but had come to fear that they might not get along. As of 2018, Washoe County Animal Services has had contact with this owner for animal neglect on five separate occasions. Furthermore, as of 2019 the owner has not held a business license nor a commercial welfare animal permit with Washoe County. Julie and her Team at Sit Means Sit Dog Training literally saved my relationship with Otis. Otis is a rescue dog, Great Pyrenees and German Sheperd mix (although some think he is an Anatolian Shepherd) that was bred in CA and never socialized - just his Mom, Dad and 7 litter mates left to wander the property. Otis is about 120 lbs and long/tall. He started to display some aggressive tendencies prior to being introduced to Julie. She found a way to connect with Otis and to coach us along the way. She's still coaching us whenever we see her. She has spent time with us in our home and in public areas while working with Otis. We board Otis with her if we travel and cannot have him join us (but he often goes on excursions with us). She literally talked me off the ledge when I was ready to surrender him. He is 3 now and I definitely see him through different eyes and understand him more with each passing day. He will never be that "everybody come pet me and love on me" kind of a dog and that's okay. That's not who he is. But, with training for Us and for Otis, he is now truly a beloved member of our Family. I purchased a groupon for Sit Means Sit a while back. The purpose of the groupon is to be able to get a full level of service for a reduced price hoping that the person will continue to come back as a steady customer paying full price, however from the first phone call to this place showed a different story. Two lists were made-ones with a groupon and ones without a groupon-any guesses which one got the lesser of two services? After many phone calls we finally were able to make a date to meet Terri at her base of operations. The session was okay, but quick-less than 30 minutes. All she did was try to give us a taste of her training in hopes to sign up for the full training. Sorry, but that is not how the groupon works. In fact that is not how business works. You want to give us a taste of your training in hopes of getting us to come back then do something unique that will make us want to come back. My wife and I were unimpressed. Secondly, she was going to have a full group class for all her grouponers. After several phone calls and promises that she would have one soon-nothing. Never even a phone call. Luckily Groupon gave me my money back. Lastly, The show given at the Women's Health Expo sealed the deal that I will never do business here. She couldn't even control her dogs on stage. When Terri first came into our home I knew that we had met ~the one~. We had participated in a consultation with a Sit Means Sit representative in Las Vegas before we moved to the Reno area, but we weren't entirely sold, especially considering the price. But after meeting with Terri, we decided to take the plunge. Not only did Terri cater her training to our young (and very headstrong) husky, but she threw in our much older Miniature Schanuzer's training on the house, with the exception of the collar. Terri eased our concerns about the collar training itself, understanding our fear that we might lose our dogs' personalities once they transitioned into one of those more well-behaved uptown puppies... Not the case at all. They have maintained 100% of their playful personalities, except now they LISTEN.. and we no longer have to worry about their safety, or anyone else's. I can't tell you how amazing it feels to be able to go anywhere you want with a 2-year old Husky and know that she will pay attention and listen to you at any given moment, OFF LEASH. She has the freedom to do as she pleases, without me having to be concerned over her every move. Both my fiance and myself run miles with her through unknown neighborhoods and she stays close to us at all times - the freedom and happiness that it has given all of us, including our pup, has been truly life-changing. Terri successfully turned our terrorists into well-mannered and respectful members of our family. Not only did she take the time to learn each dog's needs and personality, and create specific lessons around those needs, but we could tell she genuinely cared about their well-being. I was very fortunate to have found sit means sit when I lived in Las Vegas. I had gone to another trainer and they charged me 600.00 did nothing to address my dogs problems. Then I found Sit Means Sit. I was very leary about using a training collar on my dog because I believed it was a shock collar. Then I tried it on myself. It did not shock me so I felt safe using this collar For my dog. If anyone has ever used a tens unit that is sold for people it works in the same way. I rarely ever had to increase the strength of the collar for my dog in training. It is true that different dogs react different to the level of attention you turn your collar up to. But what they feel is not painful it's more a vibration that they feel and when it is turned appropiately for your dog's training it can actually save your dog's life. Eventually I did not even have to use the collar on my dog because I had him so well trained . This was my handsome boy Ranger who I lost to cancer. Then 2 years ago I got another lab named him Tristan But at the same time I injured my knee. For some reason my Tristan did not train with me as well as my Ranger did Terri explained some dogs just have this block and it takes longer to get through to them. That was definitely my Tristan. Terri took my boy into the immersion program . She kept him.an extra week and promised she would keep him until he was ready to come home and she did not charge me anymore money to do this. My Tristan is the best behaved boy now and he is my service dog. He always comes when called and goes beyond when protecting me. I have a special harness for my Tristan so I can hold on to harness as it is my stability due to many falls I didn't have his harness on him one day for walk in desert. my other two puppies came on walk with us and I fell and couldn't get up just like the TV ad Being puppies my two little ones were jumping all over me wanting to play My Tristan immediately took control of situation. He made puppies back away from me and braced himself along side of me.He stood perfectly still so I could use his body and collar as a brace to get up My Tristan has had so many complements as he is a beautiful Boy and so well trained Everyone asks me if I trained him because he knows he is working when we go shopping and it shows . A husky puppy that knew no boundaries and an older abused rescue dog now have manners and the best part is that it is a blast to continue to work with them! I took my dogs to Sit Means Sit for doggy day care and was immediately put off by the way the owner, Terri, not only tried to convince me to use a shock collar on my dog, but argued with me when I said I wouldn't do it. She was very confrontational about it. My parents also boarded their foster dog there for 6 days, and had explained that the dog was reactive and that he had been in shelters for most of his life. Terri greeted my parents when they came to pick him up and the first words out of her mouth were, "Your dog is aggressive". My mom felt uncomfortable and didn't like how Terri talked to her. Their foster dog came back home seeming very unhappy and shut down. When Terri decided to fire the one person at Sit Means Sit that I trusted with my dogs, I chose to talk to her about my concerns. I told her that I did not appreciate her harassing me about putting a shock collar on my dog, she kept insisting she hadn't put one on her. I asked her if she had put one on my parents' foster dog and she said no. I asked if she had ever put a shock collar on a dog without the owner's permission and she said, "Only once." One is too many times, and I truly believe she does it often. I do not know for certain that she used a shock collar on my parents' dog, but I suspect that she did, and I will NEVER take my dogs to her again. Others have seen her shock dogs until they yelp to get them to comply. If you love your dogs, do NOT go to Sit Means Sit. The owner does not truly love dogs. She only cares about keeping them in line, and she's not even good at that. read more

I was lucky to find Terri soon after adopting my Aussie puppy. After speaking with her shortly about her programs, we set up an appt for her to come to my home to evaluate my pup and decide our best route. When our original plan didnt pan out due to personal reasons on my part, she made sure to fill me in on all my options. We decided to enroll in her group puppy class and managed to be the only student one morning. The hour class was more than enough time, she had my puppy following basic commands within 10 minutes. And within 10 minutes of introducing a new command, she already had my puppy mastering. Terri knows and loves dogs and is the sweetest woman. We adopted our shepherd mix Stella from the pet network last summer. She was a sweet dog, but very nervous around other dogs and easily distracted. She would not come when called when other dogs were present. She would bark and pace when visitors came to our house. We consulted with a trainer in Tahoe City where we live who told us to always keep her on leash and that it might be several years before we could even try to trust her off leash. This was disheartening, as I really wanted to be able to hike and let her run free. After some research and a consultation with the local owner of Sit Means Sit, we decided to leave Stella with Bob Webb at the Minden facility for a three-day program. Bob was incredibly personable and took the time to share his credentials and dog training philosophy with us prior to the session. He sent us frequent updates and even pictures during her stay. When we picked her up, I was impressed by the bond that he had quickly formed with her. She clearly liked Bob and responded to him. When we got her home, I could not believe how quickly she responded to the "come" command. She also could do "stay"- even when we walked out of her view. She understood "place" which we use to have her stay on her bed. She heels beautifully both on and off leash. It has been 4 months now since her training, and we hardly use the collar at all. I take her hiking every day off leash, and I trust that regardless of the situation, she will always come when called.
