Sisters is a dependable sot for delicious veggie burgers, the most creamy mac and cheese you could ever dream of, and a fabulous assortment of fried goodies (the fried pickles are too good!). The people working there are very kind, and have a welcoming energy. The best part about this spot is the ambience - the enormously tall ceilings, stunning skylights, and charming array of plants and light fixtures transform the space , and make it lovely spot for a brunch, evening drink, or dinner. The chicken was good and flavorful. The fries were also solid. Ambience: solid spot with many different feels depending on where you sit! The front room is very lit and the back room is more dim! Price: on par with other restaurants! My meal cost about $26 with no coffee or drinks. Service: good service but a little too fast! They were quick to pick up our plates. Contrary to some of the other reviews, I had a nice brunch at Sisters! The main dining room is really beautiful with great lighting and decor. We got here a few minutes after it opened at 11am on a Sunday and were seated immediately as a party of 3 without a reservation. In terms of food, I got the savory french toast and absolutely loved it. I've never had anything like it before and definitely recommend trying it. However, my friend ordered the tofu scramble and found it to be way too spicy (it wasn't advertised as having jalapeños or anything spicy). I wanted to order the frozen drink they had (I think it was a greyhound?) but the machine hadn't gotten to the point where the drink was frozen, which was a bummer. So I ordered a Mezcal Negroni instead, and it was good. For my meal, I ordered the shrimp and grits, but they were more watery than I would have preferred; they should've been more solid. My friend called them "hipster grits" and I think that's the perfect way to sum them up! I was still hungry so I ordered fries. They were thick cut (I prefer my fries thinner and crispier). As a larger party, we were seated in the back room of the restaurant. There was a birthday party and live DJ. Toward the end of our meal, the music stops and lights turn on. Confused, we were told by a server that there's a private event at 9pm and felt a tad rushed. One suggestion is to give a heads up earlier at time of service! The order time between drinks, apps and entrees could be quicker. We were there around 2.5 hours in total, and waited especially long between finishing our apps and waiting to order entrees. When you first enter sisters the atmosphere is bright and whimsical. I think it's a great place to come during the day as they have an open ceiling that lets in a lot of natural light. Had a late lunch here yesterday with my 2 sisters and dad. We all ordered burgers. The food was okay. Not that great but not bad. Nothing to write about. But what I will write about is the woman, Nia, who brought the food to our table. She had the most despicable customer service. I know times are changing and with that we've seen lower standards of service but do we really have to be accepting of such poor quality? Especially when we're paying for it? She brought out my our burgers and asked whose burger belonged to who? When she put down the plates, I told her what burger I ordered (it hadn't come out with the first two orders). She then very bluntly told me: I know but I only have 2 hands, then quickly scurried off. Everyone at my table was shocked. We couldn't believe she said that. Her nastiness ruined my dining experience. It bothered me so much that I called her back over after getting her name from our actual waitress. When she came I asked her if we offended her because the way she addressed us was quite rude and out of line. She proceeded to tell me in the most condescending way: that is how she speaks to everyone. Well I sure feel sorry for everyone then. My motive of calling her over to the table was to assess whether or not myself and everyone else ant the table were overreacting and perhaps I should've given Nia more grace. Nope. She confirmed it. The burger is everything you'd want in a big juicy burger. But the all star here is the mac n cheese, my favorite so far in all of Brooklyn and that's saying a lot. The menu has a lot to offer for all types, and I was particularly happy that they had mocktails in addition to a cocktail menu. My compatriot got the kale salad and I just had to get the mac and cheese and let me tell you, the mac and cheese was EXCELLENT. It was creamy, cheese, and a perfect dish. A lot has to be said about the restaurant venue space. It's is the perfect space for bridal parties, birthdays, etc. The aesthetics are very beautifully done. I think it's a converted church. The food and service were on par as well. My partner has a veggie burger. With real veggies which she appreciated. I had the beef burger - it was juicy and cooked perfectly. "Good service is based on anticipation. Where possible, try to anticipate the customer's needs. This does not mean hovering too closely." (Ha.) "Consistency in service, food, environment matters. Customers should have reliable expectations." I start from the assumption that 'Everyone you meet is fighting an epic battle,' and being kind is everything.) But, no matter how hard we tried, we could barely raise a smile from the young woman who served us yesterday, nor the young man in March. Both occasions were birthdays, both were spoiled by the weirdness of the unfriendliness - even hostility in the man's case. Let's start off by saying I loved the vibes in there. Very rustic and calming. My favorite dishes were the fried pickles and the crab artichoke dip 10/10!!!!! If I just got that alone it would be 5 stars. I also got the veggie burger and sweet potato fries which were unfortunately not good. The veggie burger lacked flavor and the sweet potato fries were hard and barely had salt plus the sauce it came with was not good so for that reason it brings it down to 3 stars. They were cooked to perfection. Recently, I returned and was at the bar area. I enjoyed an expresso martini and the burger with fries. The fries were exceptional. The burger was good. The expresso martini was also lovely. The only issue was there was no drink menu. We had to play a guess a drink game and hope they could make it. I happened to see the stand in bartender making this drink and asked him to make me one. My companion asked for a number of drinks and was told that they were unavailable until the actual bartender arrived later that evening. Overall a good meal and a beautiful restaurant. Sisters isn't Bad. But for alll the restaurants in NYC, I'm not really impressed. Also FYI - "the Shed" on resy is their outdoor seating, not the impressive looking wooden room deep inside. It's is super humid (July) so I'd 100% recommend a seat inside. That being said, I ordered Mac & Cheese lol so maybe I'm the drama? Spicy margarita + creamy dish involved an impressive lack of foresight. It was definitely good! Just didn't stand out at all. Our waitress also wasn't really looking us in the eye which made us feel a bit weird. A guy on the street also dropped something on a neighboring table with two young women, which was weird to see in action. Update: I was excited to get back and take a friend for brunch this weekend. I made reservations for 11 but had a rough interaction with our server once we sat down and left before we even ordered because she was so rude. The interaction: we were the second table to be sat at 11am right when they opened. The server came over to get our drink order and my friend asked if they had sparkling water to which the server said they had canned seltzer. So my friend said I'll just have this then and poured herself the still water on the table. To which the server seemed to take offense to? She kind of huffed and sarcastically said sorry and walked away before I could order anything. My friend and I looked at each other confused because it was such a strange interaction, but assumed she misheard and would apologize/clear it up when she came back. A minute later, the server walks over while my friend had her head down looking at the menu and SLAMMED a glass of ice and a can of canada dry seltzer onto the menu in front of her and then spun and left again (without saying anything to us and still without taking a drink or food order). At that point I grabbed my things, walked over and apologized to the hostess and told her we were leaving due to a miscommunication issue. There's a reason for this. Burrata (1.5/5) I've never had cold burrata before as it's usually warm, but I wanted to keep an open mind. It was served with bread, lima beans, & celery. It was one of the saddest cheese dishes I've ever had. No salt. No flavor. No pleasure. Fish sandwich (1/5) Fresh and zero salt or other flavors. The bread was good, although my sister felt like it was too dry. It was topped with a bunch of vegetables, which have no place on a fried fish sandwich. The fish tasted like a black and white version of food in a technicolor world. It tasted like comedy being sucked out of the Earth. It tasted like the villain in Who Framed Roger Rabbit when he dipped the 'toons. I wish I could have conjured up some tears, because that would have added flavor to the food. I've eaten hospital food that was much better than this (shout out to NYU Langone!). Fries (0.5/5) No salt. Enough said. Coca Cola (0.5/5) There's an episode of Bar Rescue where the host explains in dramatic fashion that when you add ice to a warm carbonated beverage it goes flat. FLAT. My soda was even wrong. The space is pretty large as it has a bar and seating in the front, and then additional seating and another bar in the back. The front of the restaurant is bright and airy and the back is a little moodier and darker. We ordered a few drinks and some appetizers to share: the Brussels sprouts, the shishito peppers and the Greek salad. The appetizers were all really good and flavorful.
