MANGO & COCONUT STICKY RICE
Isaac L.

I recently went to the Scarborough Bluffs area and don't know what to have for lunch. As usual, I searched on Yelp and the first restaurant to show up on the list is the SISAKET Thai Kitchen. Therefore, I decided to give this restaurant a try. TOM KHA (COCONUT SOUP): The soup is silky smooth and full of coconut flavor. The ingredients are fresh and it is freshly cooked. This is one of the most refined TOM KHA I had tried in Toronto. THAI ICED TEA: Their Thai iced tea is not as sweet as other Thai restaurants, which is a good thing. I can taste the natural tea flavor and rich cream taste (not milk). The owner told me they use 10% cream for their Thai iced tea. In my personal opinion, this is the best Thai iced tea I have tried in Toronto. PAD MEE SEE CHOM PO (PINK NOODLES): This is my first time trying this dish and I am amazed. I can tell the chef put a lot of time and effort into this simple dish. The pink noodles are a little bit sour, which increases appetite. The crispy pork is very crispy and flavourful. The stir-fried egg does not taste like ordinary fried egg and the chef told me this is the Thai style fried egg. This is a must-try item. MANGO & COCONUT STICKY RICE: The mango is fresh and sweet. The sticky rice is not too sweet but a little bit hard. I also suggested the chef use their original way to serve this dessert dish instead (referring to the previous online photo). As placing the mango sticky rice on a plate instead of inside a bow will make the presentation look much better and easier to share among people. The chef did listen to my opinion and served the mango sticky rice using a plate the next night I visited this restaurant. I gave this restaurant one more star because the chef values customer opinion. Out of the dozens of Thai restaurants I previously tried before, this is the only Thai restaurant both their dishes look and taste great. As many high-end Thai restaurants have great presentation but the taste is only average at most. Also, this is one of the most welcoming experience restaurant I have dine in the whole GTA. The couple who operates this restaurant are super friendly. I like this restaurant so much, I actually invited my family to have dinner at this place the next night. Highly recommended.

So, we decided to visit Jatujak Thai Restaurant located in Victoria Park - Scarborough, ON. If you're looking for a phenomenal food / dining experience, look no further than Jatujak Thai Restaurant. Their menu is a culinary masterpiece, offering an incredible selection of dishes that cater to diverse tastes and preferences. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff ‍‍‍ is friendly and attentive, making every visit a true pleasure. Good ambience, good seating arrangements & definitely great food starting from the appetizer menu i.e. roll, Mango salads , Chicken wings, soup followed by main course green curry chicken , red curry vegetables , fish , noodles & last but not the least Mango with sticky rice ! Jatujak Thai Restaurant is a lovely place. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city in spite of being in the city . There's an ample parking space around the building. The place has the decent indoor seating arrangements and the seating arrangement is super comfortable and spacious. The staff is really nice, friendly and kept following . The food menu is great and there are many choices to choose from and they also offer quite a lot of small bites options to choose from.Pricing is decent, good value for money and the place is more suitable for a group of people.

Pad Thai is still just as huge a dish as always with peanuts, chicken, tofu, tons and tons of noodles and the delicious tamarind sauce with a tiny hint of spice. Pad kee mao - mild or medium depending on your taste - has that aromatic basil and those perfectly cooked yet still crunchy vegetables. Large flat noodles that fill you up! The green curry is a staple, also decent spice but that creamy coconut and the chicken, green peppers and bamboo shoots work together so well. On a bed of rice, it's delicious. We also tried a new offering of their chicken in eggplant boat with rice. It was SO good. The chicken is minced and has a nice spice level to it. The eggplant is soft and just goes so well with the chicken, spice and rice. Service is always on point - friendly people, food comes out hot and quick. Price is good too - go for lunch special if you need something easier on the wallet but delicious.

Portions are decent, but some dishes could have used a little more seasoning. Drinks are solid, though a couple of the cocktails were a bit too sweet for my taste. Service was friendly, but it got a little slow during busy moments. Overall, a solid choice for a casual Thai meal in Toronto--worth a visit if you want tasty food without the fuss

Diners can choose between glass…read moreor rice noodles, and I always opt for rice - the flatter shape clings better to the sauce and minced peanuts. The noodles are cooked just right, retaining a pleasant chew, and coated in just enough of that sweet, sour, and savoury tamarind sauce to flavour the dish without drowning it. The wok hay still shines through. True to form, it arrives wrapped in a delicate lattice egg crepe, which is not essential for flavour, but undeniably pretty and giving the dish a regal finish. On a previous visit, I made the mistake of ordering dishes too spicy. This time, the server seemed to instinctively know better and brought the khao pad tom yum with chicken ($21) at a medium spice level. The fried rice was a full-on flavour bomb: punchy tom yum paste layered with aromatic onions, peppers, and fresh herbs. And the aroma? Absolutely intoxicating. I'd highly recommend splurging a little and ordering from the "premium beef" section. The khaw waan beef green curry ($27.50) uses "finger beef," a well-marbled cut carved from between rib bones. The result is deeply flavourful, incredibly tender meat with a luscious gelatinous ribbon of cartilage that adds richness. Green curry can often become too sweet or heavy on coconut, but Sala strikes the balance beautifully. It's creamy without being nauseating, with bold curry flavours still front and centre. The sauce is excellent spooned over the cone of steamed rice and soaking into the tender eggplant scattered throughout. Since my first visit, portion sizes have noticeably increased... we left with a doggy bag of leftovers. Everything arrives well-seasoned on its own, but for those who like to tweak, Sala offers a set of "flavour boosters" so you can dial up the salty, sweet, sour, or spicy elements. Personally, I didn't touch them and found the food didn't need any extra help.

Overall, the food is consistently good, with no major disappointments, and the flavors stay within a safe range. You can sense that the kitchen has basic skills, but at the same time, you might feel that it's "restrained," not fully unleashing the flavors. Some dishes are a bit conservative in their seasoning, lacking a certain memorability. It's not that they're bad, but rather that they don't give off the feeling of "wanting to immediately post on social media after eating them." Conversely, this style is actually quite suitable for everyday dining, as it's not easy to get tired of it. The ambiance is comfortable, clean, and has a certain atmosphere, but it's not particularly amazing. The service is average, with a normal pace; there are no obvious pluses, but it's not unpleasant either.

It was so incredibly flavourful, we were more than pleased. We ordered the noodles "Spicy" and it was SPICY. So only select spicy if you really mean it lol. I would only say that it could have used more protein. So we will definitely be reordering this sometime, but adding an order of Chicken Satay on the side or something, so we feel like we've had enough meat. But overall, it was SO good. Highly recommend!
