two milkshakes with whipped cream and caramel

I love coming across female-owned businesses, especially when the place is "instagrammable" and offers a great spot to hangout over dessert. I've been seeing Dessert Lounge often on social media for a while now, so I was very excited to try it. It's easy to find the unit in the plaza as it stands out. The moment you step in, you almost won't feel like you're in Pickering. The interiors are beautiful - pink, florals and very comfy seating (plus the tables are well spaced out so you don't feel too close to other people). The staff are also very friendly and welcome you with a warm welcome and smile. Menu is available online and a QR code is available at every table. There's a lot of variety on the menu and a terrific selection, it almost makes it hard to choose what to get because everything sounds delicious. Here's some of the items we ordered: * Masala Chai Latte ($7.25): what I loved is not only the taste with the hint of cinnamon, but the presentation was super cute. It came with a flower and two heart-shaped palmiers. * Milkshakes - French Cinnamon & Spiked ($9.95): the perfect drink to wake you up or if you're looking for the perfect hint of coffee. The lotus drink tasted exactly like a lotus biscuit so it made for the perfect dessert. * Signature Creations* - Choco Coco Crepe ($18.95) & Holiday Waffle ($19.95): I would've ordered waffles for both if I knew that the waffles would turn out to be my favourite. The batter was great abd the taste was even better. I loved the addition of the coconut shavings. The ice cream that came with the desserts were also of a very generous portion/scoop! I love having the option and the great balance between fruity and chocolatey dessert because I feel like most dessert shops focus more on chocolate desserts and don't offer the same kind of balance/variety. For someone who also doesn't usually like waffles, I wasn't expecting to love the waffles as much as the crepe so this was a sweet surprise. * Carrot Cake ($12.75): I didn't get to try it since I was quite full but when I brought it home, it finished quickly which tells me it was delicious. I chose carrot cake as it looked different to the other cakes I've seen and I loved seeing that it has a lot of almonds And now for my favourite item: the Strawberry Cheesecake Croffle ($13.95). Super soft and so good. It was the ultimate chef's kiss Other items I'd like to try include: the cream rolls, saffron tea and the shiryakh (this is an Afghan own dessert shop, so they do have some authentic Afghani desserts too!) Items were really well presented. I'd prefer less powdered sugar but otherwise it was so nice.

If you're GF Not Worth Jumping Through the Hoops…read more When I found this place online, I was so excited. When one must follow a gluten-free diet, it is so nice to find places where you can eat what everyone else gets to enjoy. This was anything but enjoyable. I was planning a little Halloween getaway to Kingston and searching for a new and exciting breakfast place to stop on my way there. I found Heaffles and read through their website--I'm always very careful and vet my restaurants before the trip and plan food meticulously, you have to when you cannot eat gluten. The site stated that if you want a gluten free waffle, you must call 24 hours ahead of time. I immediately thought that was ridiculous (that eliminates any possibility of a GF person walk-in from eating there) but messaged them on Instagram. I asked if I could message then and schedule or did a I have to call. They told me I must call the day before. Pain in the bum, but I set a reminder in my phone and did so. The next day, I show up. Such a cute place and the breakfast that kicks off a trip always makes me so happy. We don't eat out much at all, living so rurally. It had also been ages since I'd enjoyed a GF waffle, so excitement was high. This place has a ton of potential. The seating is cute, the bathrooms clean and so beautifully decorated. There is even a little cubby with cushions that would make it feel as though one was having breakfast in bed. I really did fall in love with the space. There didn't appear to me to be a traditional server comes to your table. You walk in and place your order at the counter. I ordered a Flat White to drink along with a water and a gluten-free coconut rush. The young lady at the counter was very quick to tell me that they had a customer coming in to get a GF waffle and that they only had enough batter for one waffle and that I would need to try again and call 24 hours beforehand. Right before I told her I was that customer, my brain was like, what? You have enough batter for ONE waffle??? I make GF stuff all the time. It is NOT that expensive. And what if you mess up that ONE waffle (and they did because she didn't listen to me)? I said, "Oh, I called yesterday." And I had driven a very long way. I would hate for anyone else to do that and end up disappointed. After that, I was allowed to order my waffle. Coconut is my favourite sweet flavour, but it came with strawberries and strawberry syrup. I told her THREE times I didn't want the strawberries or the syrup. Strawberry jam, jelly syrup...I hate them all, also cannot stand cooked fruit. She told me she could put the strawberries on the side and that they were uncooked. I said that was okay, but reiterated AGAIN that I do not want or like the strawberry syrup. I thought I might get my drinks at the counter, but she said they would bring everything to my table. I sat within view of the counter by the window. I assumed, as at most places, the drinks would come out first. I had started on the Terra Health heartburn kit to kick my PPI script and needed to take the supplements before eating. Some ladies came in after me and they got their drink order while I sat and waited. The waffle came out, and I was too panicked by not taking my supplements to pay that much attention and told them I needed some water and that I didn't have my coffee yet. They came back in a few minutes and in the meantime, I saw that the waffle I'd paid nearly $30 for, along with a very tiny flat white coffee, was drenched...every inch in yucky strawberry syrup. I'm a silver lining kind of girl, so I told myself to try it, maybe my tastes have changed. Nope. It was this strong, chemically strawberry flavour that made me gag. Talk about disappointed. At this point it was late in the morning and I was starving. I opened up the waffle (the size, even if they'd managed to listen to my order was not worth what I paid) and ate some of the filling out. The only waffle that had no nasty syrup was at the fold and I ate the four bites I could. The coffee was literally 3 swallows. I left hungry and angry. And in all that time, no one ever came back to ask me how the order was...and I knew I couldn't send it back because that was their ONE GF waffle batter of the day. I had to stop at Wendy's and spend another $10 for a bunless burger after. I would never go back. The ask and not having the batter available is beyond RIDICULOUS, despite the fact they don't listen, which makes a GF person VERY nervous. You couldn't pay me to eat there again. Poor service, poor value and food I couldn't stomach. Not for me.

Wish I knew more about beans, but just from the way they explained calibration and how ambient weather affects the espresso, I felt like I was in good hands. I even several times skipped morning coffee at home to have my first cup here. They try to reflect your energy too, so if you seem like you just want caffeine, they are efficient, but if you initiate conversation, they return the favor. The coffee art is on point, and I even learned about which apparatus and method are easier for amateurs. They never hurried me, which I really appreciate. Great space for reading a book, meeting up with friends, or work session.

I always say I was born in the wrong era, I wish I was born when diners and milkshakes and drive ins were the popular thing to do. Well turns out history repeats itself and I am here for it. Okay back to the milkshakes and ice cream, without further ado here is my review: She's Nuts Bubble Waffle - creamy thick vanilla ice cream topped off with Nutella, chocolate sauce, nuts and a ferrero rocher. It was all wrapped in a freshly made bubble waffle! I loooved this one because I swear there are no places in Mississauga where you can get bubble waffles and now that I found them, I'm always going back hehe Unbrûléevable (creme brûlée) Milkshake - the flavours were soooo sweet with a hint of that burnt caramel, topped off with a waffle biscuit and rimmed with little chocolate ball thingies this one looked and tasted delicious! Overall I loved both the ice cream and waffle and the milkshake, they have many more flavours to try! However the desserts aren't the only thing I appreciated it, the staff here were super sweet and from what I understand it's a women owned local business! Y'all know I'm all about empowering my queens! They opened not too long ago in August 2020, just about a year now and I wish them all the luck, they are already killing it with a second location in brampton! Thank you shake it and co for the amazing desserts, friendly service and hospitality! See you ladies soon, cheers. Check them out y'all!

Tik Tok brought my friend and I here on a rainy weekend!…read more This restaurant was adorable and great for Instagram photos! It is on the smaller side, so they usually ask customers to wait outside and they'll text you when your order is ready, so they can limit the number of people inside their store. There is an overhang so you can be sheltered from the weather if you did not come by car. The menu did not disappoint! The milkshakes were creamy, tasty and so aesthetically pleasing! The iced cream does melt quickly though so it may get messy, especially in the summer. Definitely worth it though! Parking is a breeze since the store shares the medium sized parking lot with the rest of the plaza. Transit from downtown Toronto can be quite the mission however, and you'll have to transfer from TTC to MiWay.

Although this is a busy brunch restaurant, the turnover happens fast, and we have never waited more than 30 minutes for a seat. You pass through a charming patio to enter, which was shaded nicely thanks to the size of the Shoppers building. Given the recent heatwave, we opted to sit indoors. We were greeted at the door and offered the choice between a two-person table tucked farther inside or a four-person table closer to other diners. We chose the smaller table for a bit more privacy and ease of conversation. Menus were provided right away, followed shortly by tap water. When our server checked in to ask about drinks, we let her know we were fine with just water. Later, when we were ready to order, she came promptly when we called her over. A standout moment: we ordered just one smoothie, and she kindly asked if we were sharing, then offered to split it into two cups without us even asking. A thoughtful and appreciated gesture. The Pineapple Banana Smoothie was a highlight. It was perfectly balanced between sweet and tart, and incredibly refreshing. My sister ordered the Halloumi Benedict. She noted that while the waffles leaned toward a sweeter flavor on their own, the combination of waffle, egg, and halloumi was well-balanced and worked beautifully together. The egg was jammy and spot-on in terms of taste, texture, and presentation. I had the Fully Loaded, which features a potato waffle topped with bacon bits, sour cream, chives, and cheese. It leaned a bit salty, but not overwhelmingly so, still quite enjoyable overall. I loved the potato waffle which has the slightly crispy edges but was soft to bite with a texture that resembled mash potatoes. As someone who isn't usually crazy about waffles, which was such a nice alternative. Each of our mains came with a side salad (lightly dressed and refreshing) and a choice of fruit salad, maple baked beans, or potato salad. We both chose the fruit salad, which was impressively varied with orange, grapefruit, watermelon, blueberry, blackberry, and banana. Note: Payment is cash or debit only.

Sweet treats + comfort eats = my new go-to spot!…read more If you haven't been to the D Spot Kingston Cliffside location yet... what are you doing?! This place is an absolute vibe. Of course, their legendary desserts are front and center--loaded waffles, gooey brownies, and milkshakes that are basically a meal--but what really surprised me? Their savory menu is too! We're talking poutines, pastas, sandwiches, hotdogs--legit comfort food that actually hits the spot. So whether you're sweet or salty (or a bit of both), they've got you covered. Now let me take a second to shout out Warmie, the MVP of our visit. Super friendly, welcoming, and just genuinely cool. Warmie made our experience feel like we were regulars on our first time. THAT'S the kind of service that keeps people coming back. The whole place has a chill, cozy vibe that makes you wanna linger--and with this menu, you probably will. Already planning my next visit. Wife got the peanut butter banana funnel cake with twist soft serve and she enjoyed it. She almost finished it lol We probably should've shared 1 dessert between the 2 of us, but variety. Highly recommend to satisfy that sweet tooth or sugar craving that won't break the bank.
