Lovely Taiwan dessert located in Commerce Gate Plaza Reasonable price, clean and comfortable Desserts have good summer refreshing choices, also cakes and cream puff Good service and friendly

Half filled grass jelly

I'm extremely disappointed with my experience today. I paid $7.99 through Too Good To Go for a "surprise bag" from Adore Cake, advertised as about $24 worth of food. Instead, I received a single bowl of grass jelly -- that's it. The most expensive grass jelly on their menu is around $12, so this is nowhere near the promised value. I've bought their surprise bags before and always got a nice mix of pastries and cakes, so this felt like a slap in the face. Too Good To Go is meant to offer appealing discounts on end-of-day food so it doesn't go to waste -- not charge customers almost full price for one regular menu item. Paying nearly $9 after tax for this completely defeats the purpose of the app. I felt scammed, embarrassed, and honestly insulted. I used to love Adore Cake, but after this experience, I won't be returning.

I have high expectation as Black Balls this suppose to be a franchise from Taiwan and serving Taiwanese desserts. Price seems to be reasonable and the portion is decent. Unfortunately they are just not good. There is also some confusion if this is a self serve order at the counter or with table service. The table next to us has 5 customers sharing a slice of cake?? By the time we were leaving, there was a line waiting for table.

This place is new in the area, thought I would give it try. Ordered a bunch of goodies to share, bc why not!!! The service was great. You order at the counter and pick it up after. It was quiet surprisingly, but again it's new and probably not many know about it. I say it's "new" bc I haven't seen it until now. I know of one in the west coast but not in Markham. Also it's "adore x blackball" so it was it a bit tricky trying to locate this on yelp.

Strawberry shaved ice was pretty good. The combination of vanilla ice cream, chewy small balls, strawberry pieces & strawberry puree was tasty. The shaved ice was rather coarse though. I got it at 50% off, which was nice.

Lovely place, many people on a weekend afternoon. They make really great cakes. My favourite is taro basque.

This was a very unenjoyable experience. I saw pictures of the matcha and chocolate mochi and was very excited to visit this establishment. I walked into the restaurant and I found that the aesthetic of the place was very nice and seemed cozy. The lights were very nice to look at, but not too bright and it was very well lit. The counter as well as tables and chairs also meshed well with each other. When we went to order, the service was fine and they seemed amicable, but I was extremely disappointed to find that half of the items on the menu were not available. Not only was the matcha and chocolate mochi that I was hoping for unavailable, but 5 of the available drinks were also unavailable. I was extremely disappointed, but was still craving some sweets so I opted for the Kyoto Matcha Shaved Ice, but unsurprisingly, they did not have Matcha Ice Cream with the product so I had to substitute it with the mango ice cream. At this point, I was already very unsatisfied with my experience; what I came for was unavailable and the substitution that I was hoping to save the experience, the matcha ice cream, was also unavailable. Trying to save this experience, I tried to be understanding of the situation and hoped for the best, but after asking for the mango ice cream on the side, they still managed to leave it on the top. Not only that, but the shaved ice cream tastes horrible. The matcha tasted horrible and the mango ice cream was also very unsatisfactory. The matcha pudding also did not taste like anything and the only enjoyable part of the dish were the three little white squishy balls located on the side. Overall, this was a very unsatisfactory experience. My expectations were ruined and my excitement to try the items on the menu were also destroyed by the lack of available options on the menu, therefore I would have to rate this experience 1 out of 5 stars.

Review Highlights - Adore x Black Ball

They have a wide variety of cake options, and when I walked in for a birthday cake, they immediately made a fresh one for me.

And I haven't even begun to talk about the flavors. Their signature dish/pastry is the Mont Blanc. It is highly sought after, and often run out before the afternoon. We made a point of going there yesterday, from my partner's birthday to get some special treats. We were not disappointed. Despite being jampacked, as it often is, there was a good supply of the pastries we sought. New to the mix, is their version of a tiramisu. It is off the charts! The pastry chef is truly an artist. The latte and Horlick latte in Chinese themed cups and saucers were cute and the matcha Sando was crunchier and more tasty than expected. Do be careful of the sando as it topples over easily and we sadly lost all our cream to the table after the picture was taken. They use Hatch coffee beans - lattes were not very strong but we could taste the aroma of the beans. There's also free board games to play and a photo room for pictures too. Great place and space to chill at Times Square. It's on the same floor as Awesome Hotpot on the second floor, just make a left after going up the escalators.

Rarely, would you find a place that can pull off being a brunch/lunch place during the mornings and afternoons and a club and lounge by night. On a Saturday morning where I was looking for a place to grab a bite and to kill a bit of time, I realized through Yelp that Sugar Cafe Lounge is actually open by 10am. I didn't even know they open in the mornings prior to this. The vibe of this place strikes me as a modernized Chinese karaoke place. It totally reminds me of the karaoke places that I used to frequent back in the day. They have the same black and neon purple/pink colour scheme. Dice shakers were readily available and visible. The modernisation portion can be attributed to the existence of a photo booth and kildult style cartoon characters wall stickers along the walls/window. And for a "club/lounge", the servers were definitely very polite and attentive which is a stark contrast to the service that you may come to expect in early 2000s karaoke places. My feeling towards the curry katsu egg Benedict is equally complicated. I think the dish has so much potential, but currently has several flaws. Let's start on a positive note. The hollandise sauce was a fit with the curry flavour. The built in acidity also worked to tone down the sauce's heaviness. But even with the acidity, it was a pretty heavy sauce. I like the taste of the sauce, but it's just too too heavy. The egg whites for the Benedict was a bit over cooked and getting on the rubbery side, yet the yolk remained runny. Which I found odd. The katsu pork is a bit on the smallish side and the batter did not seem like the Japanese panko style batter (seemed a bit closer to HK style). The pork was under seasoned, so the taste was hugely reliant on the sauce. They clearly used some form of milk bread for the dish. It's a decently thick slice, and it didn't seem like your typical wonder bread, but the bread also added to the heaviness of the entire dish. I have no clue how the vibe is at night or how busy it gets, but my feeling towards this place is a little bit complicated.
