Had so much fun hear. For 15 dollars a person you can rent a table for 3 hours and have endless amount of game options. They have over 300 different board/card games available. My partner and I went here before dinner and spent roughly 2 hours and got our fair share of fun. It is a very creative date idea and saw a few first dates sitting around us. They also have a QR code to order at the table (theres food and coffee options.) They also have a few beer options. The staff is extremely inviting and helpful as well. read more

This place was awesome ! I love places like this because it allows you to just put your phones down if you want and just play games and enjoy your time with friends family , significant other etc . I met some new friends at Sip N' Play and we had a great time playing board games, talking, and eating! The game selection was good and it clean and well attended, with most of the tables filled on a Friday night. The food was passable but not very tasty, I would not recommend the tater tots or french fries but my friends did like their turkey club sandwiches! I ordered a white grape slush which was alright but very sweet, and my friend got a yuzu lemonade which was also extremely sweet. Great store with very competitive pricing, the friendliest staff, a clean, well maintained play area, and a decent selection of games. I play Modern here every Thursday and this store is by far my favorite place to play Magic: The Gathering. The tourney organizer, Jonathon Li is friendly, helpful, considerate, and really cares about the people playing Magic here. He will wait to start if someone is running late, will work with the players to figure out proper judge calls, and even lend you cards or a whole deck. The store itself is very well lit, maintained, and most importantly clean. We all know board and card game enthusiasts can be on the smelly/ less hygienic side, but this store is thankfully better maintained. The bathroom is spacious and cleaned regularly with some cool artwork. The staff is friendly and helpful. They've always been nice to customers from what I see, and will regularly bring your order to your table if you're busy playing a game. All in all I couldn't recommend a better place to play board games or Magic: The Gathering. read more

Went with a party of seven and honestly, everything was great. The food was better than I expected- truth be told, i didn't expect the food to be all that because it's mainly a board and card game cafe but the food was really good. We all shared amongst each other; mozzarella sticks, various sandwiches, avocado toast, fries, it was all great, and at fair prices as well. The food also came out quick! We'd order by scanning our phone on a barcode at our table and within 3-4 minutes, the food arrived. It was somewhat packed so the fact that we got our food so fast was great, especially because we ordered quite a bit. We also arrived a tad bit late but they gave us a 30 minute grace period, didn't have to do that but I love that they did. The service was excellent overall & the ambiance was very welcoming. Came here because we were late for an event we were supposed to attend in brooklyn. Loved the board games and cafe concept.  The selection of games was extremely varied. However,  some of the games had missing pieces. The hungry hippo had no marbles, and the 2 operation games we saw had no pieces.  I hope they will check their games and remove those that are missing pieces and can't be used.   In the end, we played Jenga, battleship, and exploding kittens. The atmosphere and music were relaxed. There are families and older adults enjoying the games.  They have cafe items, boba, and a limited canned alcohol selection. We had the brown sugar boba, which was good.  Though we didn't eat the bacon they were frying smelled tempting. Didn't really like the lunar passion fruit cocktail but that may be since I don't like seltzer. The wine was good. On weekends it is 12$ pp for 3 hours of gameplay. A wonderful hangout spot which is accompanied by a nice little cafe with boba and great drinks. There is some complimentary water with water cups a little past the cafe area if you don't want to buy a drink. The staff was very friendly in giving us instructions on how the board game cafe worked and in giving us drink recs. The only negative was that the music was a little loud - but other than that, an absolutely great spot! We had a ton of fun playing code names and sequence. I guess the staff at this place just don't want customers, because within 60 seconds of stepping foot into their storefront I immediately turned right back around. I worked across the street from Sip N Play a few years ago, and the staff used to be very inviting. I would never have any issues when ordering food and drinks from them, but never have sat inside and gotten to play anything. I've read quite a few reviews about them not honoring reservations, so when my friend told me that she had made a reservation for us to go, we were skeptical. Full disclosure, we know we messed up and we know we are stupid. But, we are extremely disappointed with the customer service. Upon entering, the staff was welcoming until I stated we had a reservation. As soon as we mentioned the reservation, the staff member we spoke to's demeanor changed and he immediately gave off the vibe he no longer wanted to deal with us. Whomever we spoke to repeated, "You have a reservation....." as if reservations didn't exist. He hounded me on WHEN the reservation was booked, WHERE the reservation was booked, and overall gave a nasty attitude. I arrived before the person who made the booking, so I pulled up a screenshot of the reservation that was sent a few minutes prior and showed the worker, who replied in a snarky remark saying "How about you pay attention to what date the reservation is for." Now - I did not look at the photo prior to showing it, but it did say that the reservation was actually for the day after. But the attitude was completely unsavory. I apologized for the mistake and asked if there was any open tables, and was immediately snapped back with "No." I asked if we would be able to wait for an open table, and was told, with attitude, "It would be at least two hours." If this is how you speak to customers willing to pay to dine and entertain at your establishment, you don't deserve customers at all. Definitely didn't wait for a table opening and definitely won't try to go back. read more

I came here last month on Sunday, 11/1 with my husband & friend to meet my fellow yelper Mei C for our monthly Yelp Date! We come to support another local business in another community. A perfect Sunday afternoon playing some board games with family & friends. No screen time (phones). Some good old fashion fun. We were worried it would be too cold which was why we wanted indoor table- thank goodness as it was windy that day! I had emailed for reservations (according to their website) for in-door table for 4 people at 11AM. When we arrived, the staff didn't check for reservations (so I guess they didn't need it?, we were the only people there; so maybe they knew it's our group)? She explained that we order food/beverages at the counter and she would bring it to our table while we can pick out the games. 3 hours unlimited play is $7 per person. Drink menu is extensive; there is something for anyone (even me, because I'm not a coffee drinker and picky with teas) We roam the cute shop; oohhing and ahhhing over the displays and games. They have cute game decors painted on the walls. They have such a large selection of games of all types (cards, board, strategy, trivias, puzzles and more) that we felt like kids in a candy shop LOL Most of the games we have never heard of which was fun to try. Some we picked we heard of (commercials when we were kids) but never played before. We grabbed a table all the way in the back (but not in the back room). Later during our first game, she came with our drinks and a loyalty card with stamps. If we come more often & earn more stamps, we can get a free drink or game time. I wish they asked us beforehand because hubby&I could have share a card since he don't go out often-- so I would get 2 stamps (and then earn it on my own). But yeah, that could be cheating as it would be faster in earning the 10 stamps. We did see the owner dropping by the other tables to chat them up (he didn't get to come over to our table); it is always nice to see the owner checking around & actually chatting with customers rather than just a simple "how is everything?" & walking away. He really did seem interested in his customers having a good time and share his passion for playing games. Some of the games were so fun that I'm thinking of buying but not sure if worth it. Once again supporting our local restaurants. Stop by this fairly new Establishment to take out two ice green mango bubble teas for my hubby and myself. The tea was refreshing for a hot summer day. The merchant were very welcoming when I entered the establishment. We had a little chat about the current events which was lovely. I will certainly come back to this place. Alright I'm not usually a 5 stars for one item kinda reviewer - if I'm just getting like one coffee or tea and not a full meal somewhere I usually start with a 4 and bump it up as I try more things and continue to have a positive experience. With that said, I make exceptions for places like Sip N' Play specifically because of fantastic service and such a cute vibe. First off they had hot winter melon boba tea, which is my favorite as someone who loves a night time boba but can't do caffeine late. Plus hot boba in the winter is such a joy. Again, I normally wouldn't give 5 stars yet for just one bubble tea (which was very well made by the way), but the staff and particularly the guy was just SO nice and friendly that it really made me feel at home. We decided to check out Sip N' Play after seeing them featured on Instagram, and I'm so glad we did! If you've been to The Uncommons (near NYU), you'll love this board game cafe. More space, wide variety of board games to choose from, and you can grab food, boba, or a beer while you play. My boyfriend and I walked in about 2 pm on a Saturday and didn't have to wait for a table. Since we came on a weekend, it was $10 per person for 3 hours - which is not bad at all! They have several shelves of board games to choose from toward the back of the cafe, and there are unopened board games for sale as well. The remaining tables quickly filled up later in the afternoon, so if you plan to come with a group, it would be a good idea to make a reservation in advance. The owner, Jonathan, greeted us as we were playing a game of chess, and he was super friendly. We learned that Sip N' Play opened during the pandemic, and it was nice to see that this place was ~poppin~ (love supporting locally owned businesses!!). 100% would come back again - such a hidden gem in Brooklyn! read more

We've been visiting all week for our D&D camp the Deliberate Myth and both the camp and space is Fun! There are food, numerous drinks, and games! It's a clean space with friendly service. I would only suggest, since there are numerous options to call out Favorites, like staff favorites, shop favorites, so that those who get overwhelmed can easily choose from the favorites. Same with the games, staff favorites or shop favorites might draw the eye to games they wouldn't usually reach for. We'll be back, probably next summer as we're not from the area. Reservations are recommended if you want to be guaranteed a table but I believe you have to book in advance and not day of. Came on a Saturday night with a group of friends and a reservation, it was $15 a person for 3 hours. If you're looking to grab a bite, I recommend the spicy chicken sandwich with extra spicy mayo. The bread was soft and fluffy and it came with a side of chips. We also ordered tater tots, french fries, chicken tenders, chicken poppers, drinks, and more. I think they use an air fryer to make the food so the wait is a bit longer but don't worry, just grab a game and play away! One game that really stuck with me was "Ticket To Ride." It's sort of like Catan, sort of not but they're both strategy games so if thats your thing, give it a try! It was my first time playing and overall really fun. 1/5 Star Review. The Employee's were actually kind, the Owner of the store is what I'm worried about. The Owner disregarded the customers and refused to let the employees cook the "Chicken Tenders" food item on the menu for more than 7-8 minutes, while the required time to cook it properly was 10-11 minutes, which caused it to turn out raw. The Owner disregarded me and my family when we asked for a refund or to at least be more careful when handling food like chicken which is required to be cook for longer, the owner hung up immediately when we talked about refunding our quite literal RAW meal, without saying a word. They are cooking their chicken to less than the required time and I already had stomach issues before even coming here, my cousins actually ate it and may get stomach issues from the raw food. If you expect more people to come to your store, care for it, don't be like the owner here who can't even care enough to allow employees to cook an extra 2-3 minutes, and is to greedy to even refund an $8 undercooked raw meal. read more

Thank you TikTok for introducing us to Sip N' Play! We thought it was pretty cool how we could sit and play board games while drinking boba/having some snacks on a summer day! I was a bit confused whether or not we needed a reservation, but we ended up making one anyways since Fridays - Sundays are their most popular days. So glad we made one! All of the tables were PACKED and sitting outside when it was burning hot did not sound great. But with our reservation, we got an air conditioned indoor table! We ordered the matcha latte, which wasn't too sweet but perfect for my husband, as well as a mango lychee drink with mango stars, which was super refreshing and quenched my dehydration!! Went there with some friends and as I was picking a game near the bathroom, I saw two big roaches scattered and was immediately disgusted. What's worse is that when I tried to to use the bathroom a big rat ran out near the back kitchen and there was rat droppings in the bathroom near the game on sign. Absolutely disgusting.
