The staff at Sinclair saved my Thanksgiving. As I was packing to head home to see my parents I discovered that my front right tire was almost completely flat. I made it to the station and as I was trying to explain what happened to the employee in charge, he looked at my car and said "It's simple. There's a nail in your tire. Give me 20 minutes and we'll get you on the road." It took less time than that to fix. They checked and filled the other tires. Inexpensive repair that allowed me to head home for the holiday. I worked here. I really think highly of Sam and Brian the mechanic that works here. They like jobs that are in and out work and they are very thorough. Kind people for sure and would definitely bring my car to them. You can get some really good deals on tires if you work him a bit. The general workers are good but would ask for Reuben in the case I needed something small taken care of, IE light bulbs, sensors, windshield wipers. Reuben is the best spirited/honest to goodness man that works here. read more

Almost 20 years ago I found the ideal auto repair shop, and they're still as good as it gets. They listen, they do the work, and they're 100% honest and reliable. Once I called them for a repair, which they did and quickly, and when I get the bill, it was for $0. When I asked, they explained that about 6 months ago they had made a similar repair, so there was no charge. They're so good to deal with, you almost wished your car needed repair more often! read more

(yes I'm reviewing a gas station). Pro: newer pumps and handles. I have to say that this is one of the cutest gas stations ever. On the NW corner of Grand and Hamline - not Wheeler as the name suggests - this little Sinclair gas station also has a repair shop that I've never used. They have 24 hour pumps that are pretty new, and the gas pump handles aren't the kind that make you want to double-wash your hands afterwards. Quick CC authorization, fast to fill up, this gas station is a quick and easy stop before I hit Ayd Mill Road and head to work or shopping. It's also a full service station - the kind where you drive over a sensor and it rings an old fashioned bell in the shop. I only ever go there for gas, but a few times I've pulled up and if I don't get out immediatly, a mechanic comes out and asks if I need anything. Someday I'll take them up on it just for the heck of it. I like supporting Sinclairs just for the sole reason that I'm amazed they are still in business (the brand seems so old and with all the other competition out there with flashy marketing, it makes me wonder). I have never been inside their storefront, but I don't think they offer any concessions, although I recall seeing lottery ticket signs. It's a pretty no frills place, but I love it. read more

Outstanding. It's so good to have a full-service gas station nearby, in these days of the multiple places that sell gas and candy bars, no service included. Once when I was driving my little Toyota Paseo and had stopped for gas, I noticed an attendant going around checking the air in my tires (a service I hadn't requested). It turned out that the manager had noticed that a tire or two might be low, so had asked the fellow on duty to check. That kind of service you can't pay for. Really good people! read more

this might sound dramatic, but I've had a hell of a week: the basic notes are that these gentlemen saved me hundreds of dollars, calmed me down when I was in a panic, communicated promptly, professionally and always updated me, they beat their own tow time by about 45 minutes and were 100% honest. I'm so happy to have discovered this full service station so close to my home! I found them by accident when I had a flat tire and they were literally the closest place to roll into. They fixed 2 nail holes in my tire within half an hour for around $20. So when my battery died this past week I was hopeful that they would be able to help me out. I called on a Saturday--within 24 hours my car had been towed, fixed and ready for pickup on a Sunday afternoon! during a very busy time of year I do not have a "luxury" car so cannot comment on that--quite the opposite--but this Sinclair location has been so friendly, respectable and affordable that they will be my new go-to for repairs from now on. read more

Twice I have tried to get full service gas and have had to go inside after waiting outside my car and pushing the service button. The man behind the counter is friendly, but I have no idea what the two teenage boys are doing. I go to full service stations for service, not to be ignored. read more

Each time I have had a need for non oxygenated Gasoline for my snow blower or lawn mower to run on, Grand Wheeler Sinclair is the place to go and while I lived closer to the station on Grand and Wheeler 1745 I believe may be the address there, people telling me it is closed. Stations that sell unleaded regular gas without ethanol are getting few and far between. It doesn't matter what I have needed to have done to my vehicle either and the fact that they actually come out and pump the gas for you instead of making you do it just shows the kind of service they still have in an age when most all the stations around make you do it your self! Does the station on Grand and Hamline have the same kind of service the other Grand Ave. station had? Time shall tell! read more

This Gas station/Service Station is Great! My experience here has been nothing but phenomenal. Let me get to my story I drive a Buick Park Ave and I brought it in here not too long ago. Now my knowledge of vehicles is next to none. So when I managed to get it up there they where able to check it out right away and also bring me in the back of the shop to show me exactly what was wrong. Now I've been to other Service Stations and not once has the mechanic brought me back in the shop to show me the problem. These guys are great and trustworthy. Not only are the trustworthy but there labor rate is less then most on Grand Ave. There also family owned, I feel treated like a person more then a number here compared to franchise and corporation type places. Despite the great shop service there FREE full service which I have not seen anywhere else in Minnesota. If you wait to get out of your car a attendant will be at your window to help. read more

No. No. No! Go somewhere else - ANYWHERE ELSE - for service and car repair before going here! On one occasion this station tried to pull an extra 100.00 from me for repairs, but after I confronted them about having called other service stations in the area to compare pricing they brought the repair costs down acknowledging they had NO reason to charge that much extra. This past week I was in there for a flat tire, which they said they couldn't find anything wrong with and the manager there was encouraging me to drive around on my spare tire - which was weird as all get out. How do you plan to put my tire back on if I'm out driving it around with a spare tire on? I was told by another worker there later that night that the tire had ALREADY been put back on my car, it was re-balanced, and, at my request, that they'd check and fill all other tires b/c my pressure light was on (even without the flat). I said that would be perfect, and was told I'd get a call in the AM to make sure my tire hadn't gone down again over night. I never got a call and ended up calling in myself and the manager there said, 'Oh, well I don't know I didn't see any notes here about checking anything and I left at 3:15 yesterday afternoon. So I don't know what to tell ya, I don't know nothing about it." He then told me that my spare was still on my car and that my tire had been sitting in the garage all night. I tried to explain to him my frustration - that the whole point of leaving the car there was to leave it there with the tire ON THE VEHICLE and make sure it still didn't leak. I also told him that his own employee had told me that the tire was already back on my car last night when he called me - so he was lying. Then he told me he'd "get around to putting it back on when he could." He was so rude. I got a call probably 15 mins. later to come pick it up and when I went in I tried to explain to him - AGAIN - that it is bad business practices to not be telling your customers the truth and then to be so rude to them, he proceeded to argue with me and told me that *I* had requested the tire stay off the vehicle all night!!! He said that's what his son, who was the worker I had spoken to the night before, had come home and told him. I repeatedly told him that I had requested the complete OPPOSITE of what his "son told him" and that his son had also already told me my car was ready to go. It was even more annoying because first he didn't want to take responsibility in the AM for not even knowing the tire still needed to be put on but then he had the gall to say, "Well that is what you had requested." as if he was part of the conversation I had had with his employee/son!!! I've never encountered a more ridiculous worker who doesn't take responsibility for their actions or acknowledge their customers request. Finally, I asked him if anyone had checked my other tires and put air in them as I had requested last night. He said that yep, sure they had. I knew right away he was lying. I took my car to another service station later that day because my pressure light was STILL on. Without letting the new station know what had happened, they checked the pressure in all my tires sighting that the only one that was correct was the tire that had been flat and needed to be filled with air - all of the other tires were low!! Additional note: as soon as the worker at the new station filled them the pressure light went off. Let me be clear in saying there are some pleasant and friendly (often younger) "can-do" attitude workers at this Sinclair station, but whoever this guy is has bad business ethics and instead of acknowledging his customers requests he just argues with you and then charges you for services THEY NEVER EVEN DID. Do NOT go to this station to service your vehicle! They'd rather let you die out on the road because they didn't feel like doing their job then treat their customers with respect and offer the safety that any service station should strive for. This has been the place where I almost always go for oil changes and car problems and have been a customer for years. I've had my car towed, and tires repaired and it has always been done very well and at a reasonable price. I find the service excellent and have never had a problem with any of the auto professionals. I recommend the Sinclair Grand Wheeler at 1745 Grand Avenue in St. Paul MN very highly. read more

Whenever I have a little problem - they are really helpful - like a stuck gas cover release. Or if my headlight or signal is out they are there asking if they can replace. Dead battery - had a replacement and installed quickly. So we recommend them. read more

My mom had a terrible experience at this gas station today. She needed air in one of her tires and stopped at the station. The man that waited on her was so rude and had such a nasty attitude, she couldn't believe it. It wasn't until another customer pulled up who also needed air in her tire that he changed his demeanor. He suddenly turned into a smiling, pleasant person as he waited on the other customer...who happened to be White. My mother is Black. The reason for his awful behavior was confirmed by a younger person who works there who admitted that "they" (the other two older men who work there) are racist and don't like people of color. It's sad that such ignorant behavior is within blocks of 4 schools. I'm sure one of the schools would be willing to teach them a lesson on kindness and the cost of racism.
