I have, for as long as they have existed, used only Apple products. Having relocated to Tucson seven years ago, Simutek has been a real life-saver, delivering me from the pretentious & usually uncooperative hell hole of the Apple Store. Everyone at Simutek has been as helpful as possible in giving me advice in my purchases of both new and reconditioned machines, as well as lots of life-saving free advice over the counter and on the phone. When repairs have been needed they instantly honor warranties or advise me on the most cost-effective route. Their staff has consistently gone that extra mile to save me time, money and aggravation. Even when I have been demanding and not exactly polite, they just ask me: "What is it that you want us to do?" I tell them and they just about always do it. What more could anyone ask? read more

I had an iMac with a failed 3tb Fusion drive that would no longer boot and I was unable to install Big Sur. I took it to Simutek and somehow they got Big Sur installed. I picked it up, took it home. I was able to clean it up, do all the updates and upgrades, and get rid of 1.5tb of unneeded files. After doing a TimeMachine backup and a clone (took over 36 hours due to the Fusion drive being very slow). I took it back to Simuek to install a 2tb SSD. I took it home, restored it using my TimeMachone backup and now everything works great. These guy know their hardware and I couldn't have done this job without their professional help. For repairs and hardware upgrades these guys are the best in Tucson. read more

Totally wasted my time. Told me my screen replacement would cost $30 with AppleCare when I was there, but when I finally got home I had a message saying it would actually cost $220. At the very least tell me when I'm there so I don't waste an hour of my day for nothing. read more

First visit to Simutek was ok. I was able to ask a few questions without feeling stupid or receiving the feeling that I was bugging or annoying the person who was helping me. I have a 2011 iMac that was having an issue they quoted me 69.99 to get a diagnostic on the issue. I received a phone call just a couple hours later with good news and also the additional cost to fix issue. I picked up my iMac a couple days later. My only complaint is my iMac is a 27 inch screen and heavy but no one offered to open the front door for me in order to leave the store. That would have been helpful and kind!!!! Love love LOVE Simutek! Never even been to the apple store as this is where my hubby purchased my laptop. You see I'm a busy photographer and my track pad as well as many other things started acting up. They sent it off to MAC for flat rate fixing and installed my hard drive on a loaner laptop and let me borrow it for over a week! No down time for my business at all which could have been detrimental! I have never been treated rudely (even though I may be fairly ignorant when it comes to computers and terminology). Everything was always explained to me nicely and courteously. They even let my kiddos play on the laptops taking silly pictures to entertain them while I was listening intently. This is Apple users Gem in Tucson. I bought a preowned iMac from a private seller. It was unlocked and I had the password, but unfortunately she did not wipe it before my purchase-that was fun when I got home. I contacted her and she could not remember her Admin password. Great. I'm stuck with someone else's history, iTunes, docs-and I can't update or wipe. I was going to chalk it up as a loss and then googled Apple repair in Tucson. Bam! And right by my house. I went in knowing that this would probably cost me a pretty penny. I went in around closing, which I hate to do, but with my schedule it was when I could come. I was greeted with a smile and "how can I help you?" I explained my dilemma and he got me over to the service desk. Service guy was very nice and reassuring that this was an easy fix (I obviously didn't know that, lol). Told me to give them 2-3 days and it would be ready. I asked....how much? $25!!! Whaaaat?!?! I was thrilled. The very next day, early afternoon, I received a voicemail that my iMac was up and ready to go. Went to pick it up. Service lady was very nice and explained what they did. Explained that I could just boot and it would be ready to setup like a new Mac. Yay!!! She also told me if I had trouble, to just call or come in and they would help. Came here after my 2011 MacBook Air was trapped in a proverbial boot loop. I was seen immediately and a resolution was discussed within 20 minutes. They estimated 1-2 business days for my repair, but were able to resolve the issue in a matter of hours. Needless to say, these people know a thing or two about a thing or two. UPDATED August 10, 2018. Love this place. Bought my last two computers there, and two more for friends. All were refurbed and in excellent condition, priced to compete with Apple's own refurb offerings. The folks at Simutek know their Macs, iPhones, and iPads. Often they've successfully serviced my equipment based solely on my description of what seems to be going wrong. Other times, for a reasonable fee, they've offered me a pre-repair, in-depth analysis, a couple times recommending that I not pay to service equipment that was no longer worth the investment. iPhones, I learned, they often refer to Apple for repairs, which is unfortunate considering how long it takes for Apple to process orders and how stock their solutions usually are. But iPhones to begin with are difficult beasts. I appreciate the Simutek team's promptness, knowledge, and candor; and the staff's directness and positive attitude. Best of all, Simutek is always there, open, uncrowded, and quiet. I'm able to scan the for-sale Macs and ask for info as needed, undisturbed by Apple Store minions whose knowledge extends to running a credit card through a scanner. Haven't taken one of their training sessions, but I bet they're good ones. Give Simutek a try. If you're not satisfied, there's always Apple in La Encantada -- pricey, crowded, noisy, and full of overpriced equipment that Apple (now a $100 billion company) is pushing, not necessarily the equipment that you need. I'm betting, though, that you will be satisfied at Simutek. Most smart Tucsonan Mac and iOS users are. read more

My daughter took her Apple laptop to get fixed because it would not start. They charged her $99 for the diagnostic and another $100 to have it "cleaned up". Well after she spent $200 the computer still doesn't work. I'm ok with the diagnostic fee but why would they charge her $100 to have it cleaned if they weren't sure it wasn't going to work? That doesn't make sense to me. Money down the drain for nothing. read more

Glad i went here instead of the Apple Store! My 15 inch Macbook pro got some water spilled damage, and had a non responsive screen. I knew it would cost a handful, and I hate how expensive the Apple store is with their repairs, and how long the line is. I found this place on Yelp, and with all the good reviews, I decided to try it out. The store is small within itself, but you are not waiting long at all until one of the friendly staff members come to greet you. When i told them I had water damage, they told me they could do a cleaning, and that one of their tech guys would give me a call. I got a call back from a woman named Martha within less than 24 hours. Martha was wonderful not only with communicating with me, but helped me save a lot of money. I saved over $1000 going to these guys compared if I went straight to Apple, and it took 2 weeks- tops. I will be going back to here for a hard drive upgrade- and for any other future problems. If you think buying from this retailer is an improvement over the big box store, fughaboutit. Service department is a joke. They don't answer the phones and refuse to make a quick repair on a software issue that was present ever since computer was purchased with charging " thru the nose" AVOID this place. read more

I tried Simutek twice for repairs and service. On both occasions, I left voice mails that were not returned, and I tried an email. No reply. In the store itself, the staff were borderline hostile: "Repairs are in the other room." As if everyone knew that. After a lengthy wait, the repair representative unapologetically said, "It will be five days before anyone looks at it." I get the impression that Simutek has so much business that they really do not care. Although it is a hassle, you are better off mailing everything to Apple. read more

I got my iPhone display replaced here and it was a painless, lovely experience. Everyone is professional and friendly. Their curbside dropoff system is great and the inside of the store is clean and feels safe as well because everything is socially distanced and there are masks/sanitizer. Rich was super helpful throughout the whole process and even though I was a little bit late to my appointment they were still able to fix my phone very quickly and it looks brand new! When I went inside to pick the phone up at least 3 people made sure to ask if I'd been helped and both Rich and Jack helped me get checked out. I had to buy a refurbished MacBook Pro quickly when my old one blacked out one time too many. For the most part I was helped very well with one of the more seasoned techs so I could make a decent decision to suit my needs. Later, when I talked with one of the younger techs when I came in to finalize the sale, I was not treated as professionally as I should have and was almost charged for something not in my agreement. When I returned later to buy a new mouse, again, it was one of the more experienced techs who helped the most. So a bit of a mixed experience. read more

If you hate dealing with the overcrowded Apple Store at La Encantada then you will love Simutek! These guys are very knowledgeable about all things mac. I recently took my laptop in because my cd drive was making funny noises. They honored my Apple Care warranty and unlike the Apple Store they do all repairs onsite (the Apple Store ships all repair jobs to a facility in Texas). Simutek fixed my computer in two days! Their customer service is great AND they sometimes have sales on certain Mac inventory. If you're a mac owner you need to check these guys out! read more

when i originally called simutek to price out how much they'd take for trade of my 2010 macbook pro, the guy on the phone wasn't very sure of himself. i came in and dealt with a different guy and was very happy with the value of my trade, the time it took them to check my computer out and the products and services they offer. it's awesome to have an apple specialist store (that isn't the actual apple store) because they're able to do a little more for a lot less. if you have any needs for your apple products, i would highly recommend taking your device here! read more

There is literally no way in which this store is not more pleasant than going to the Apple store. Instead of being greeted by an employee who is specifically not available to help you, as at the Apple store, at Simutek you are immediately greeted by a person who is available to help you. Instead of waiting for an hour in a crowded atmosphere where a bunch of elderly people are standing around screaming about how their iPhones don't work, you can get what you need and leave in five minutes. My MacBook Pros hard drive failed. I took it up to the apple store and they said it would be 3-5 days to fix. I am a grad student and need my computer for everything, including statistical analysis and note taking. So I called simutek and they said they do it in 24hrs. I dropped it of at five and they ad it done by noon the next day. The price was cheap too. read more

I've been going to this store for many years, have purchased a few laptops and several accessories as well as had several service calls. I went in for a minor fix which took five minutes and John, the customer rep, said he couldn't charge me for such an easy repair, noting he knows I am a repeat customer. This store is definitely my "go-to" store for anything Mac related because no matter who I talk to, the customer service is outstanding. I recently purchased a refurbished iMAC from Simutek. Unfortunately, 29 days later, there were some major hardware issues and the iMAC just continually rebooted... so of course, I took it in for repairs.... Alas... since it was a hardware problem there was no resolution to the problem.... Simutek's AMAZING resolution was to stand by the products they sell... and they REPLACED THE ENTIRE MACHINE...
