I recently purchased a refurbished iMAC from Simutek. Unfortunately, 29 days later, there were some major hardware issues and the iMAC just continually rebooted... so of course, I took it in for repairs.... Alas... since it was a hardware problem there was no resolution to the problem.... Simutek's AMAZING resolution was to stand by the products they sell... and they REPLACED THE ENTIRE MACHINE... Simutek is the best. I purchased a used 2015 Retina MacBook from them. It's a great little machine, but I work on my computer all day, and after a trial run, it proved just to be too small. I took it back the next day and traded it for a used MacBook Air, which the owner, Rich, generously upgraded at no extra charge. Unfortunately, I later realized that the Air had a badly scratched screen, so I went back again, and they were great about switching it out for another, similar model. If you're a fan of excellent customer service, as I am, these folks really raise the bar. My experience with Simutek was outstanding, and will keep me coming back. read more

After two calls to ask if they could do an upper case repair on a macbook pro, the answer was "yes we can do it, it will take 2 to 3 days and it should cost around 300 dollars" I took the time to go there and now they refuse to do the repair and just state that "they will just ship it to apple" and "we just won't do it"..... I wished they would get their stories straight and did not waste my time with a subpar service and a less than amicable welcome. Not only did they loose a customer but I will never recommend this store. Just go to the apple store, at least you will get a consistent service. read more

Most employees were nice, however a couple were rude, not accommodating , and full of attitude. Even overheard talks regarding drinking alcohol around consumers. They refused to cooperate with corporate apple when we tried figuring out a very simple problem. They told us to leave and just take the ten minute drive up to the apple store. read more

We have been customers at Simutek since we first purchased our first Mac about 10 years ago. John Scott had been terrific in helping us with all the questions we had at the time. We are now on our second IMac which is about 7 years old. It was going slow and the wheels were spinning. Getting very frustrated we decided to bring it in for a clean up on the hard drive and and up date to the latest newer operating system. So glad we did that, it is so much better. First and last time I'm going to set up an Apple appointment with this business. I had my appointment set since last week to get a battery replaced on an iPhone. Came in on time just for them to tell me that they were not doing same day service. Instead they were going to mail in the phone for the repair. I asked them why they didn't just notify my beforehand and saved me the trip and time. They said that it was an issue I had to take up with Apple directly. They did mentioned that they emailed customers, but I never I received an email. How about picking up the phone and calling customers? I know my number was attached to the appointment when I made it. I ended up driving up to the Apple Store and explained the situation. They apologized for the inconvenience and repaired my phone that same morning. Now that's how good customer service should be. The Apple Store employee apologized on Simutek's behalf... shameful. read more

I bought a new MacBook Air at Simutek and love it but found there were way more new tricks that could be done than with my old MacBook Pro. I signed up for classes and it was fantastic. Went at my pace, did NOT talk down to me and explained everything very thoroughly. I have never enjoyed the uber tech environment at La Encantada so I'm truly thankful to have one closer by. A far better choice than the always crowded, super noisy Apple store here in Tucson. I've been going to Simutek for over 10 years and have always been satisfied with their recommendations, courtesy, customer service. It is a much further drive for me than the Apple store. Apple's service bar is always jam packed, and their techs told me Apple only allocate only 20 minutes per customer. Simutek doesn't have those issues. read more

I had a situation where i asked one of the younger employees to delete an admin password from their system records that was no longer needed after I had removed it and he completely ignored me. Later I confirmed from an older worker that it wasn't deleted which he had promptly done. That younger employee didn't have respect for another's security information. read more

Called to get a quote on battery replacement for my iPod that is too old for Apple to repair. Simutek's website says that they service vintage Apple products. Apparently not. That's the cost of being "Apple Certified" I guess? We live in Sierra Vista and were notified that there was a recall for Apple MacBooks early 2016 due to faulty keyboards. We logged in to the Apple Support site and opted to have our MacBook repaired at Simutek in Tucson (since we use our MacBook for work and can't waste time mailing it in to Apple). After traveling for an hour and 45 minutes we arrived on time for our scheduled appointment with Simutek at 2pm August 10, 2018 (Apple Case ID 100606709658). The Simutek Service center stated they could not replace the keyboard there, and they would have to mail it in. I objected stating I had an appointment with them to have the MacBook repaired there at their store while I waited. They went into the back room and checked and confirmed that they can't repair/replace MacBook keyboards in their store. So I wasted a 3 & 1/2 hour trip to Tucson to get our laptop repaired. Simutek is suppose to be an authorized repair center and Premier Partner for Apple but they can't even change out a simple keyboard on a MacBook. Very poor customer service and, I wasted 3 & 1/2 hours of work to just drive to this inept and so called Premier Apple Partner. read more

For dear people who just want to read a 'gist' of the review about this shop, we must say this; please be very cautious if you decide to get services from these guys. You may confront with seriously unethical approaches from them only because they want to make you pay more even when you don't have to pay at all for getting proper services. So just please be cautious to be overcharged or wrongly charged by them. For people who wonder more about the story that my friend and I experienced yesterday, here it is. I've had a problem with the delamination of my MacBook Pro monitor and been noticed by my friend that Apple provides the monitor replacement service for free. So I've booked for a service with this "Authorized" repair shop. For the first time, when we've got there, the place looked nice, and everything seemed going well, but after I've given my laptop for changing my monitor and came back to work, I've got a phone call from a staff whom I've talked to at the shop. He said that "according to Apple's policy," I should get repaired my battery and pay for it if I want to get the free replacement service for my monitor from Apple. Since I wasn't so sure whether that kind of policy exists, and also because the staff kept informing different prices for replacing the battery, we felt suspicious. So I called Apple directly and talked to Apple's senior advisor when my friend and I got to that store again. The Apple advisor confirmed that there is no such policy, and it turned out that the authorized repair shop only can notify their customers about the result of the visual inspections (not force them to repair additional things and make them pay). The unlucky staff murmured when I transferred the Apple manager's call to him, and we already knew that he lied to me and kept trying to hide it. We even could hear the staff who informed us the nonexistng policy was talking to his manager in the back stealthily. Finally, the manager came to us and confirmed the fact that we don't have to pay for unwanted services. Well, the most important thing you may need to focus on this story is this. While we were talking to them to make sure every problematic issue with the staff's statements, all clerks' attitude was something. I saw a staff eyeballing and saying "are you serious?" when I requested the staff who brought my phone to talk with the Apple advisor to be where I can see him because he went to the room where I couldn't hear and see him. (Imagine that someone takes over your phone call and go anywhere you can't see one). In short, no apology until I requested one. Hope those who read this will be served in a right manner as a customer. Now, I'm going to make another appointment with official Apple store rather than this shop. read more

Students and Parents beware! This place is only trying to get your money. My daughter had a dead iPhone battery for two days, after calling twice to confirm that they replaced batteries and also had them in stock (I wanted to confirm because she had to Uber there and I told them that), she gets there only to be told that there is not enough charge in the phone to run a diagnostic so they cannot replace the battery. Common sense tells you that a dead battery means there is no way to run a diagnostic. Would have been nice to have been told that a diagnostic had to be run to replace the battery in the two conversations I had with them before she Ubered there for $30.00 one way. They did offer to send the phone to Apple for $399.00. What a joke!! She will wait for her Genius Bar appointment at the Apple Store and pay $29.00 to have it replaced. read more

I walked in the store for the second time today. Along with my wife and we were ready to pull the trigger on a Apple Desktop, NEW! After spending time and asking questions of two of the staff we were left with a feeling that these people really don't want to help much. They even mentioned that "we don't like to spend more than 20 minutes with a customer" !! What? I felt like saying well (you know what)! Those items are around $1500. The first time I was impressed with the store, the second time when I had money ready I was quite disappointed to say the least! I got the feeling that they really didn't give a damn if I bought one or not! And they sure made me feel that help for changing from a PC to a Mac was expensive and not free! Anything about learning from them was more money. And no military or senior discounts of any kind! I have yet to see a reply ! I'm sure Best Buy or Apple Store wants my business! I love Simutek - it has none of the hype of the Apple store but that's not why I love them. Their techs are solid and fast and knowledgeable. I recently brought my 5 year old laptop in to upgrade its memory and hard drive. They advised me what to do and did it fast and a reasonable price. It was done in less than 24 hours and now it's like new! They saved me having to spend $2500 for a new computer...and Martha took the time to look at my photos from a recent trip to Burma. So I felt like I was at my "home town" Apple store. read more

I have been going to Simutek consistently for several years. This place is great. The knowledgeable staff is always welcoming ant totally helpful. I LOVE that I don't need to make an appointment to get help with my computer or iPad. I REALLY LOVE that the staff all know my name and welcome my dog into the store when I have her with me. I will never step foot into the Apple store again. Had a major issue with my MBP, and needed it fixed right away. After being ignored by employees and standing in line for 20 minutes to "check in" I was turned away by the Apple store (not enough technicians to handle all of their reservations. Really?? HIRE MORE THEN), and headed over to Simutek. As soon as I walked in the door, my new hero Rich walked right over to me and asked me what I needed. I explained the situation, and he had my laptop open 2 minutes later. He recommended a solution, but said it normally takes 48 hours. I work from home and need my computer, so two days without it is a long time for me. He told me they would let me buy one of their used laptops and return it two days later. And I would if I could have, but it wasn't something I was able to do. So I left my computer there, and went home thinking I was going to have to give up two days worth of work. But lo and behold, about 4 hours later, I got a call saying my computer was ready for pickup. There was still something not working quite right, but they were able to find a $30 solution to a $400 problem. These guys ROCK. They are forever going to be the only place I go when I have an issue with my Apple products. THANK YOU!!!!!! read more

These guys (and gals) are awesome - I brought in 3 older macs with various problems; one they fixed on the counter free of charge (needed eprom wiped), gave me good advice on a second one also for no charge, and tried some things and charged me only fifteen dollars because they didn't do a full diagnostic on the third. They are truly helpful and charge only when you really need the services. I've taken other macs there before with excellent results. I get all my power cords and accessories there because I want them to stick around. The atmosphere is much more laid back and professional than the apple store, in my opinion. read more

I took my 2006 White iMac in because it died. After a few hours they called and said, "Sorry, bad news. You have a blown power supply and since your Mac is so old we can't even get them anymore. So, it's a lost cause." I said "Thank you," looked up "power supply 24" 2006 white imac" on Google and found many dealers selling them. New. So I ordered one, found step-by-step illustrated instructions on how to replace it on my very model on ifixit dot com, and went to pick up my dead computer. They offered to "recycle" my computer there, no charge. I said no thanks. 2 days later my power supply arrived and 2 hours after that my iMac is up and running as good as new. I am writing this review on it. I feel they could have told me I had options. That I could take it somewhere else or research it online and that it's not a difficult fix (Skill level: Moderate). But they just didn't want to do it and were apparently OK with me trashing my $2,000 computer. Just because of their laziness. Boo! read more
