Thai it Up Wrap (w/ Thai peanut dressing)
    Eunhae H.

I absolutely love the wrap here! They offer wraps, salad, build-your-own salad or wrap, soups, cookies, pita chips & hummus, and Uglies potato chips. I've tried the Cardini's Caesar wrap with Caesar dressing, El Paso Wrap (grilled chicken, romaine, kidney beans, tortilla strips, grilled corn, pepper jack, grape tomatoes, and avocado) with Cilantro Lime Vinaigrette dressing, Thai It Up! Wrap (simply salad mix, grilled chicken, carrots, crispy wontons, peanuts, purple cabbage, cilantro, and red bell peppers with Thai Peanut dressing, and The 'Cue wrap (romaine, bbq chicken, corn, black beans, cilantro, tortilla strips, red onions, cheddar, crumbled blue cheese with Ranch dressing. I appreciate that for each their signature wraps or salads, they provide dressing recommendations. They also have an app for their loyalty program, which is free to join! You get 10 points for every $1 spent, and if you reach 750 points, you get $2.50 off any entree. Always coming back to get their wraps that make me feel healthy and full!

Chicken Caesar Wrap & Cobb Salad Wrap

I'm a regular at Simply Salad as this is my go-to spot when I want a good affordable salad or wrap. I've tried the Chicken Caesar Salad, Cobb Wrap, and Caesar Wrap, and I've really enjoyed all three. I love that I can customize everything exactly how I like it. For the Cobb Wrap, I remove the tomatoes, add extra egg, and ask for easy lettuce and it comes out perfect for me every time. The extra egg makes it even more filling without feeling too heavy. The Caesar Wrap is another favorite, especially when I want something quick and easy to eat on the go. And you can't go wrong with the Chicken Caesar Salad! It's simple, fresh, and satisfying.

I ordered the Cue Salad and it did not disappoint. It comes loaded with romaine, BBQ chicken, corn, black beans, cilantro, tortilla strips, red onions, cheddar, and crumbled blue cheese - I went with ranch, and they absolutely don't skip on it. You can even adjust the level on how much dressing you want! The portions are generous, and I love that you can easily substitute ingredients or add extras to make it exactly how you want. I've also had the Cardini Salad, which is essentially their Caesar salad with added chicken -- simple, fresh, and just as satisfying. The line can get quite long, especially during lunch, so placing a pickup order is definitely the way to go. I've honestly never loved a salad place this much. They also offer wraps, which I haven't tried yet, but are next on my list. On top of all that, the staff is super friendly and patient. This place is a must-try.

    A bug in my salad!!!!!!

Simply salad is my go to salad place and unfortunately today I found a bug in my salad!!! I've never had this happen to me and I always enjoy the salads, but after this incident I won't be going back.

I've been to Simply Salads all across LA County, and I'm always impressed by how consistent it is. This was my first time ordering from the Cerritos location. I got the Cue Salad, which is my favorite. It was amazing as always! Love getting it with a mix of kale and baby spinach, packed with fiber and antioxidants. The bbq ranch is so good. I order two so that I can save one to eat later with carrots or celery. I love Simply Salad and can't wait to order again!

Had this ordered and delivered so I can't speak on customer service or location ambiance. I was craving an ahi tuna salad and came across the wrap option here. Had never ordered here before and was interested in a wrap option. Ordered the Far East & Asian Soy Mix dressing with it. Overall, I liked it! I wish maybe a little more ahi tuna and I would have preferred the dressing mixed in with everything before wrapped. Maybe that's something I can request next time. Looked up TikToks and there are other things I'd like to try so I will be back to order and in person for sure.

    Seared Shogun (Salad)
    Ari R.

Seared Shogun has always been my favorite here. It's a good portion but it is expensive I will say. If it was cheaper I would go back more frequently. It includes lettuce, crispy onion, purple cabbage, cucumber and ahi tuna. Might have forgotten an ingredient. Tuna can be hard to cut with big fatty pieces. Mostly though I enjoy this meal every time I get it minus the tuna that's hard to eat.

    El Paso Salad! So delicious!

Honestly! It's just amazing in every sense! I am a first time patron here but it won't be my last. I must have passed through here a dozen times and had no idea this amazing new place was here. When I mentioned this place to my daughter, she told me she has been here several times with her boyfriend and highly recommended it: I just had to give it a try which I did so. My birthday was a few days ago and I had gone to Cerritos Mall to pick up a few items to treat myself. On my way home I decided to finally pay this place a visit finally. Being that I love food with a little spice and kick, I went with the El Paso salad. Not knowing what to expect, I was very very pleasantly surprised at how amazing this salad was. It was enough for 2 people easy. Very fresh, healthy and appealing. There was not a single thing wrong with it. I don't know if the dressing is made in house but it was delicious and flavorful. I also got me a lemonade and a chocolate chip cookie. My experience was wonderful and I will definitely be back again soon. Thank you so much!

    Chinatown (Salad)

Had been wanting to try this spot since it first opened! I was always unsure on what kind of salad to get but after a recommendation from a friend, I finally decided to try it today! As soon as you walk in, they have menus on the left. There was no line when we walked in on a Monday around 2:30 pm. I tried the Chinatown salad with the far east/ Asian soy mix dressing mixed in but you could also get it on the side. For the price, I think it's a great portion. I shared, which made me realize the next time I go, I can get 2 servings off of 1 salad! I will definitely be back & I recommend if you're craving a salad. There's also plenty of parking and a few tables inside in case you're not on the go.

Green little bug crawled out of my wrap after a few bites.

Used to love this place but my last order from here ended with a bug crawling out of my wrap.

Is this a buffet or like a subway?

Like a subway. You go to the counter and order off the menu. They make your order in front of you and then you go to the cashier and pay for it.

This maybe a stupid question but does Cobb salad not come with any meat and is it extra cost? So what is the $15 for, just the price for the greens? I'm genuinely lost as I'm trying to order online. Do I pick meat or not? I don't want extra.

Hi there. The Cobb comes with chicken. We hope this answers your question!

From the moment you walk in, you feel the warm, family-friendly atmosphere. The owner, Guzman, is super friendly and speaks both English and Spanish, and his daughter Alison was running the register like a total pro--she's all business in the best way! Now, let's talk about the food: The Secret Salsa: Absolutely hit the spot! Savory with just the right amount of kick. Chilaquiles: My dad ordered these and was blown away. He got them with two sauces, and he particularly loved the red sauce, which was al estilo Oaxaca mole. They cooked his eggs exactly to order and accommodated his request for extra raw onions alongside all the delicious classic toppings (sour cream and queso fresco). Drinks: They have a great variety of soft drinks, including Diet Coke and Coke Zero. (If you're looking for coffee, definitely stop by right when they open, as they might be replenishing inventory later in the day!) A quick heads-up for first-timers: The dining area can run a bit warm and there are no public restrooms at this location, so plan accordingly. However, that wouldn't deter us for a second--the chips, salsa, and overall quality are way too good to pass up. It was great seeing local regulars picking up to-go orders while we were there. Working just down the road on Studebaker, I know I am going to be a frequent regular from now on. Classy place, amazing flavor, and wonderful people--we will definitely be back as often as we can!

ATTENTION YELPERS: Basil Pizza and Mexican food is a literal hidden gem in the middle of a random…read moreshopping center on Los Coyotes Diagonal and Carson Blvd in Long Beach. I've literally driven past it thousands of times; however, I didn't even give it a second glance until last week. Somehow, it slipped past my radar despite having 130 reviews at an average of 4.8 stars. The reason for this is simple: I have no interest in eating tacos from a pizza spot. The good news is that they're pivoting away from the pizza and leaning into the Mexican food. In particular, this family-owned shop is going to increasingly offer Oaxacan food that reflects their roots. Their menu still has a hodge podge offering of quesadillas, enchiladas, tortas, omelets, and tacos; however, skip these items and look to the whiteboard that features their specials. Look for the hidden gems at this hidden gem. Seek out items that feature the Oaxacan flavors as these are outstanding and special. I went with their mole enchilada with chicken and the mole was so rich and flavorful. Because most reviewers talk about their quesabirria taco, I ordered one, despite not really enjoying birria. I have to say that their quesabirria tacos have wonderfully savory flavor and they're worth getting. Costs of their food can be high, but they use good quality meat and ingredients here. Everything is made to order. Therein are their drawbacks: there can be a wait time for your order. The other thing that needs to improve is that their best items - their Oaxacan offerings - aren't even on a regular menu and we need that to change ASAP. From their regular menu, I will definitely reorder their quesabirria tacos and their mole enchilada; however, I want to have their Oaxacan cheese quesadillas as well. Most of all, I want to see the Oaxacan items that I can't get anywhere else. Overall, this is an absolute hidden gem, and it won't be able to exist indefinitely unless it gets more of a following. If this happens, then I think they can improve their signage, they can appropriately/accurately market themselves, and they can offer more Oaxacan-centric foods. I definitely want to be there for all of that! In the meantime, go check out this hidden gem as this is exactly what yelp is about!

YAAASSSSSS We were STARVED and even my Omni daughter loved everything!! Women owned, family business that is top notch Vegan Mexican food!! We started with Elote Fried Corn Ribs. That sauce!! She says, wait, I have extra from another order, you can try. Light, fresh, spicy, similar to ceviche, yet more complex flavor. Dang. Yeah, gotta come with Jennifer!

The ice cream was good but I'm assuming they don't make that in house. Overall disappointed. Not worth the drive and the 10 minute time to find parking. The vibe of the place itself felt pretty gloomy too. I unfortunately don't think this place will be open much longer if the quality of food/service doesn't improve.

Though National Pulled Pork Day isn't until October 12, Stonefire Grill is celebrating it a little…read moreearly by offering their pulled pork sandwiches for half off. Or better yet, they brought back July's 25th anniversary special, though the price for this year is a little higher than last year, but still not a bad deal. And just like last year, rewards members could get the pulled pork sandwich for half off once per day from Friday to Sunday of that weekend. I went on Saturday at about 11:30 AM, and there wasn't a long line to order, but Juan was the only employee ringing up customers at the register. It took several minutes since the customers in front needed plenty of time to place their orders. During my wait, I saw the menu had a section for Wood Fired Grill, where Pulled Pork was an option for a personal meal. Actually, they had two options for the pulled pork: a 6 oz serving for $15 and a 10 oz serving for $20. However, neither option would qualify for the half off as there is already an option for pulled pork sandwich under the Burgers, Sandwiches & Tenders section of the menu. Based on the price tag, I'm guessing that sandwich is equivalent to the 6 oz serving, but the personal meal would also include two breadsticks on top of a side. The sandwich that is half off would only come with one side. With the exception of Stonefire's Beans, all of their sides are vegetarian. Wait, beans aren't vegetarian? Not here! When I asked Juan to remind me what Stonefire's Beans were, he mentioned there was tri-tip inside, and I was immediately sold! It's also their most expensive side, at least for personal size, so unless you're vegetarian, I would highly recommend selecting Stonefire's Beans as your side. I also did ask Juan about the Cornbread Casserole since I didn't recall seeing that on a prior visit. He said that they honestly should have removed the word "casserole" as it's pretty much just cornbread, but with serrano and some other ingredient that I can't quite remember what it was. Could be worth trying in the near future, but I really wanted the Stonefire's Beans now that I know it contains tri-tip! I also asked for a water cup to finish off my meal. I sat at the table closest to the rear for easy access to the BBQ sauce dispenser as well as the water. Well, almost. When I tried to get water, the beverage dispenser starting rumbling as if to make me think it was going to explode any second! I ended up getting Vitaminwater in my cup instead. And I also made sure to get not one, but two cups of BBQ sauce for my sandwich and beans. There was an employee who was on break sitting directly across from me, but he should have been in the break area instead, which is just a little further to the back. On top of that, I had to hear him watch a soccer game on his phone during the 7-minute wait for my order. After dropping my order off in front of me, the employee asked if he could get anything else. I didn't see any utensils on the tray, so I asked if there were utensils. He spoke so fast, but was looking in the direction of the counter I was just at minutes ago getting BBQ sauce. Turns out the utensils were on the other side of that counter, and I should have gotten them first, though without a plate at the time, they really expected me to set the utensils directly on the table? Anyways, I did like the presentation of the Pulled Pork Sandwich as it seemed like a mountain of slow-cooked goodness waiting to be devoured! The Stonefire's Beans were a pretty good portion size too, like a $10 serving of soup at any other eatery. Knowing that the Pulled Pork Sandwich could use some BBQ sauce from the getgo, I poured the sauce in the sandwich, which immediately boosted the flavor profile by quite a wide margin! The cole slaw, unfortunately, was not an asset to the sandwich as it fell flat in taste and didn't supplement the pulled pork or the BBQ sauce very well. But the Stonefire's Beans? Oh yes, remember when I said I'd recommend choosing that as your side, assuming you are not vegetarian? Knowing that there was tri-tip in the beans really made the beans that much better than those from, say, a Tex-Mex spot. They could have used more flavor, so I added some more BBQ sauce to the beans. Mmmmmmm...BBQ Baked Beans with some tri-tip! Oh yes, I'm sure Homer Simpson's mouth would be salivating if he were reading this review lol. Unfortunately, the pickle slices were placed directly on the tray as opposed to the paper that was supposed to cover the tray. Why don't they just use a small cup for the pickle slices instead? Juan seemed like a pretty cool employee, even making sure that the half off reward was on my account and that it applied to my order before requesting payment. Overall, I'm still giving 3 stars for this experience, but there's some improvement I can see from my last visit; there's just not enough for me to give 4 as there were several shortcomings that I really needed to put out there in this review.

You'll think, wow, I'll probably need a box to-go, but somehow you'll eat it all in one sitting! Sometimes you have to write your name down at the check-in stand out front in order to get a table. But I've never had to wait too long. The servers really pay attention to anything you might need without rushing you or asking lots of questions. So I think that's how they keep the wait time short. The vibes here are just 10/10 for a family breakfast. Our toddler likes watching the model train that circles the upper windows of the restaurant. It's busy so there's lots of pleasant background noise. You can watch the traffic go by on Lakewood Blvd. Prices aren't too steep. I've ordered takeout and delivery from here as well and never had any complaints. Parking can be hard to find in the lot right next to the restaurant but can usually be found right away in the back lot. Overall, just a nice neighborhood spot to eat.

Inside, the place is clean but definitely could use some updates - 6/10. Staff were very nice and friendly, though I wish coffee refills were automatic - 7/10. The food reminds me of home cooking. I really enjoyed their Mexican dishes but preferred the breakfast menu overall. The hobo omelet and breakfast potatoes had great flavor. However, the biscuits and gravy were disappointing, tasting like store-bought biscuits and canned gravy--probably from Costco or Sam's Club. Coffee was very good, but I wish someone would walk around constantly refilling cups. Overall, a decent spot with some room for improvement.
