Came here on a lunch recommendation. For nearly 15.00 I can buy 2 lbs or shrimp at home. This was not worth the cost for what I paid for. One of the shrimp was not deveined and that really grossed me out. The flavor was okay but I ordered it as the sweet girl at the register said it was better than the Philly cheesesteak. I always enjoy a small, eclectic style cafe. I just started driving around until I saw this small cafe in a strip mall. It was almost lunchtime but I liked that they were still serving breakfast. Orders are placed at the counter and then food is brought out to u...this was the second place I visited in Baton Rouge where all employees were not wearing masks...disappointing. This is truly one of those hole in the wall GEMS!! The owner himself was there and extremely friendly! You could tell that he loves what he does, his employees also all seemed very engaged and vested in the success of the business. There were a lot of people but very little pressure or wait time. You have to order and pay at the counter first. The place was crowded but there were about 2 open tables inside and a few outside. We ordered 2 number 1's. One with turkey bacon and the other with sausage. We also had the seafood omelette with cheese, spinach, tomatoes, bell peppers, and onions with grits. They have a cooler with juices, and water. They also sell coffee and lattes. It was very busy inside but the staff was friendly. The tables are kind of cramped but we made due. Our food took about 30 minutes to come. Now I'm not a big pancake person but these are DELICIOUS! They are big( so one is definitely enough), fluffy, and have a nice flavor( really can eat without any syrup). The turkey bacon was cooked nice and crispy. The seafood omelette was definitely filling. It had a nice flavor. The grits are homemade! They are creamy!
