The experience did not start out well. Simple Electric gave a 2 hour window to show up and was 15 minutes past the window. Not the end of the world but I was irritated. Bryce showed up and apologized that his last appointment went longer than expected. Super nice and respectful. He looked at my fixture in the front of our house and the wire was broken right next to the connection. Didn't think he could fix it but it's a 23 year old fixture that would cost a lot to replace both. He said he would try. He was able to fix it, saving me a lot of money. We had both our lights out in our garage and he could have fixed those but also being 23 years old, likely to break again and the new LED fixtures were inexpensive. Again, great advice. I had Simple Electric check out some outdoor electric issues that I was having including an outlet that had no power, broken doorbell, and 2 light fixtures that repeatedly have the bulbs burn out within days of replacing them. (I suspected some wiring issues or that they were improperly installed last year.) The technician was prompt and friendly. I wasn't outside with him the entire visit but I didn't see him attempt to troubleshoot the broken door bell. He just suggested that I see if it is under warranty with the manufacturer. Furthermore, the technician didn't know why the outlet wasn't working and did not repair it. While investigating the outdoor lighting the technician asked if I had lightbulbs to replace the ones that were burned out. I said yes and while he was still on the ladder he switched them out. There was no mention of a fee, as I would have declined. Overall, I found the technician's visit to be pointless, as he didn't fix any of my issues. Later that day I received an invoice for $95. When I contacted the company they confirmed that it was $95 charge to replace the lightbulbs... $95 to screw in 4 light bulbs. Again, the technician did not mentioned there would be a fee and offered to switch out the lights since he was already up on the ladder. I had intentionally left the burnt bulbs in the light fixtures in case that aided the technician in determining what the issue was. I paid the fee but will not use Simple Electric again. They offer free inspections through Yelp but will find other ways to get payment... even when they don't make any repairs. Technicians should be up front with their pricing and get homeowner's approval prior to doing the work. read more

I needed some electrical work done in my backyard with my landscape lighting. I called up simple electric and they sent out Bryce and Sergio. their electrical technicians. These guys were an excellent team. They were able to identify problems with the lighting in the wiring and always had a Plan A and a Plan B. I used this company probably a half dozen times based on the great reviews. Most of the time they were efficient and fast to complete multiple electrical requests at my rental home. In one bizarre event, a worker I believe stole some of my personal items as the house was empty, the technician was the only one there.. I notified the manager of this and never heard back from them on the outcome. I ignored it and planned to continue to use them for the lifetime of the home, forever. I'm finding a new provider now however. Fast forward a year later, I had a quote for a panel replacement and the cost went from $4000 to $6000. I know with inflation raging.. But a $2,000 increase in a year. Give me a break. When I pointed out the outrageous amount of increase, the woman responded flatly with "shop around if you don't like it.." Update: Immediately got a quote for 2k for the same job by another licensed contractor. 4,000 difference. The company has degraded recently, unfortunately, as others have noticed/mentioned from recent reviews. read more

He (Jim) was late (40 minutes) but the office did call@ the time he was supposed to arrive. No worries because I was home all day. The quote process was painstakingly slow because anything I was interested in doing he had to enter it into his iPad app to calculate the cost, ONE item @ a time!! Then the quote was OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive, he nickle & dimed me for everything. I do not plan on using this company. If you quote one can light for $175 (includes can, wire & labor) tying into existing switch, wouldn't the 2nd,3rd & 4th light in the same room be a little cheaper? Wouldn't you quote all the lights, switches & wires as a single (bulk) cost? Then charge the labor? read more

I'm scratching my head on this one. I called on Wednesday 1/26 at 3:45 PM to schedule an appointment. The agent seemed confused and a little unsure. They scheduled a time for me for Thursday (tomorrow) 2/3 at 7:30 AM. But since then I received no confirmation (no phone call, email, text or anything) of my appointment. Fast forward to today. I call to confirm if my appointment is still on. I wait about 5 minutes or so and hang up since I was on hold. I call back and am on hold for a little while again. When I'm about to hang up again, a person comes on and I explain what I'm trying to do. She tells me that she's the dispatch and she doesn't handle the scheduling. "Who handles the scheduling?" I ask. She said the office does. She takes my name and number for someone to call me back. So I don't know if I ever had an appointment, I don't know if I've ever reached anyone at the office, and I don't know if my appointment is set for tomorrow. Either they are extremely successful and are trying to keep up with the demand of doing good business, or they totally suck right now. Remains to be seen. Hopefully I hear back. I have used this company in the past and received excellent service. The last two times I have used this company they have overcharged me for items that were caught once I received a detailed invoice and work was not completed correctly (Ex. Junction Box Installed with No Power Running to It). In addition, when I called and scheduled an appointment for them to come out and fix mistakes made as part of their installation process they no showed with on the appointment made. Very disappointing given previous positive experiences with this company. Recommend going elsewhere as service has diminished. read more
