It was the first time I had the Mie Tek Tek Indonesian noodles, which was like chow mein, but with unique spices that I enjoyed. The Cah Kangkung water spinach was also great. (It's like ong choy). While many of the main ingredients could be found in more common Chinese food, the spices were different and sweet and spicy in a Malaysian way. It was delicious and different. The service was really friendly and prompt. It's nice and modern inside. I liked the "antique" type plates which were cute. There's modern music and a cool hip vibe. What a cool spot and vibe at Simpang in Venice. This place is off Lincoln Blvd, in a small shopping lot. There is some parking but your best bet is the streets. The food is Indonesian/ southeast asian style. I have to say there is some delicious food that they are making here. Came here with a party of five and had dinner right in front of the doorway. There is a pretty bar and also a lot of small chairs and tables for couples and dates. The inside is adorable and the food is good. I really enjoyed their noodle dishes and also this Bananna leaf wrap with rice, curry, and tasty chicken. Get the papaya salad it is also nice and refreshing! Mango sticky rice, you will always be famous to me.... Seriously some of the best food we ate while visiting LA. This unassuming, strip-mall spot is incredible. We weren't super hungry so we went on a tour of the appetizer and dessert sections. I'd never had anything like the roti paratha before. There is a small parking lot as well as street parking. The Thai tea comes with garnishings and they do have cocktails/alcohol. The food here might be more to the liking of locals and families, so it is likely that others would rate it higher. Dishes are fresh and attractive.
