I came here because it was one of the only halal options on Resy and ive went to the other location, but i saw this was on Resy and it had an interesting menu. They had these pre-made tasting menu which has a variety of dishes and i absolutely love that option. Getting a small amount and tasting everything is exactly what I wanted So came here with my wife and got the more expensive tasting menu (the festival feast), and after tasting it, i think the other one would have been better. The best thing that we had was the lekker wings and the rest of the menu was decent but not amazingly flavorful. I would have preferred stuff like chicken satay. I was excited for the beef rendang but it wasn't as spicy or creamy as I expected, the flavor was muted. I would come here again to try something else though. This place is so good! It's rare to find Indonesian/Malaysian food, especially on the Westside. This place doesn't disappoint! The sambal wontons were delicious and just the right amount of spice. It was the first time I had the Mie Tek Tek Indonesian noodles, which was like chow mein, but with unique spices that I enjoyed. The Cah Kangkung water spinach was also great. (It's like ong choy). While many of the main ingredients could be found in more common Chinese food, the spices were different and sweet and spicy in a Malaysian way. It was delicious and different. The service was really friendly and prompt. It's nice and modern inside. I liked the "antique" type plates which were cute. There's modern music and a cool hip vibe. What a cool spot and vibe at Simpang in Venice. This place is off Lincoln Blvd, in a small shopping lot. There is some parking but your best bet is the streets. The food is Indonesian/ southeast asian style. I have to say there is some delicious food that they are making here. Came here with a party of five and had dinner right in front of the doorway. There is a pretty bar and also a lot of small chairs and tables for couples and dates. The inside is adorable and the food is good. I really enjoyed their noodle dishes and also this Bananna leaf wrap with rice, curry, and tasty chicken. Get the papaya salad it is also nice and refreshing! We weren't super hungry so we went on a tour of the appetizer and dessert sections. I'd never had anything like the roti paratha before. Cute Indonesian spot with another location in Palms. My boyfriend loves the roti paratha and the mie tek tek, and he always get it when we come. There is a small parking lot as well as street parking. The Thai tea comes with garnishings and they do have cocktails/alcohol. You can make reservations in advance but we walked in on a weeknight and there was no wait if you go later in the evening. Portions are generous and I had leftovers for lunch the following day. Both locations have different, but unique and innovative decor. Venice has spaces for groups, but also some romantic nooks. There are so many vintage pieces of decor to admire from plates to lighting fixtures. Service and ambience rate 5+/5. The food here might be more to the liking of locals and families, so it is likely that others would rate it higher. Dishes are fresh and attractive. The taste is a little more towards California Thai style cooking. Food is not at all spicy and very, very sweet. We tried the Papaya Salad, Nasi Goreng, and Singapore Noodle. The waiter brought us hot sauce, but it did not add much flavor, nor could it cut through the overpowering sweetness. Our Es Cendol was actually less sweet than our food.
