Pho Show in Culver City is officially on our repeat list. We ordered the brisket pho with added vegetables and it was absolutely amazing. The broth was rich, deeply flavorful, and so perfectly balanced that it didn't need a single sauce added. The brisket was incredibly tender. Truly a pleasure to eat. We added carrots, broccoli, and bok choy, and the bok choy was cooked to perfection. The noodle-to-broth ratio was just right. We also ordered the pork egg rolls. There were three in the order and my boyfriend and I literally fought over the last one. That should tell you everything. Crispy, flavorful, perfect. The Arnold Palmers were so good we both refilled. Twice. The ambience satisfies everyone's needs. There's great music playing, the space is lively, open, and beautifully designed, and it's perfect for a first date or a decades long relationship. There's great seating inside with plenty of options, including accessible table seating for guests who need it. They also have an outdoor enclosed patio that is heated, making it comfortable year-round. Beer and wine are available, which rounds out the experience nicely. Service was fantastic. Stephanie is the best. She gave us great pro tips for what to order next time, which we absolutely plan to do. Highly recommend dining in for the full experience. I am obsessed with a good fried tofu, and therefore was met with disappointment. Soggy, bland, cold, and gushing with greasy oil. What happened to the salt and pepper? I legitimately could only taste oil, and it left a good grease film that coats my mouth even still as I type. Additionally, I asked for it to be as spicy as spicy can be. Fresh chilis or something, but alas their sriracha packets and chili oil were all they had, and did not bring the heat. Super excited to have discovered this hidden gem Vietnamese fusion restaurant that's also dangerously close to my Pilates studio LOL. @officialphoshow 's menu obviously features pho, but also a variety of Vietnamese and Indochinese dishes such as banh mi, vermicelli, shaken beef, stir-fried noodles and fried rice. I definitely thought the food had an overall fusion, lighter taste than the authentic Vietnamese food I'm used to, but I liked the freshness of their ingredients and their generous portions. I was also pleasantly impressed with how nice the service and interiors/outdoor seating of the restaurant was, and I would definitely recommend checking this spot out for an affordable filling meal, a late night stop, or a nice date in the Culver City area! Featured here: rare steak and beef balls pho: I loved how generous their noodle portion was, but I wished there was a bit more meat and more flavor in the broth (although it's decent with a bit of lime + sriracha added) charbroiled shrimp vermicelli: probably my favorite dish! The shrimp was grilled perfectly, with a lovely smoky flavor without being overcooked, and all the salad greens and vermicelli noodles melded very well with this protein. I did wish the fish sauce was a bit more flavorful/pungent, but I get that's not very palatable to most people chicken banh mi: unfortunately, this was probably my least favorite dish of my meal. My daughter & I love coming here when we get a craving for Pho! It's such a chill open dining atmosphere and a great place to gather and chat with your loved one's. I always enjoy the "Tom Yum Rare Steak Pho" which is already spicy and a well seasoned broth. The steak cooks immediately in the hot broth! My daughter orders the plain chx Pho cause she likes to dress hers up with sauces to taste! It's part of the whole experience of eating Pho, she tells me! My only complaint was the fishy taste of the crab wontons; it was freshly fried, but maybe the wonton itself was not as fresh. i would give this place 5 stars for the vibes and the service, but i cannot in good conscience give it any more than 3 for the food.... the chicken wings were just alright -- nothing too good or bad about it. it's the vermicelli noodles i got beef with (no pun intended)! i don't know if they were trying to go "al dente" with them, but they were severely undercooked. i've never, ever had vermicelli noodles this hard at a vietnamese restaurant before. all the sauces couldn't save the unpleasant experience, nor could the meat, which was also quite rough to chew. my boyfriend got the pho, which he noticed the noodles also seemed undercooked. don't know if someone in the kitchen was in a rush or if this cooking method was a way to appeal to non-asian folk -- but it certainly did not appeal to us. read more

Pho Show is one of the pho joints around the area that is open relatively late in comparison to other pho places around town - so when the cravings struck, it was really the only option nearby. We ended up placing an order over the phone for takeout since it was already pretty late. We ordered a dac biet pho, salt and pepper chicken wings, and shaking beef and the food was ready for my pickup within 15 minutes, which was pretty quick. Dac Biet Pho (3/5): The soup tasted good and the meat was good, but - perhaps this is just because it was take out - the noodles were hard. I know heating the soup up more to cook the noodles longer is an option, but considering we went straight from the restaurant to home, we kind of hoped that the noodles would either be cooked sufficiently and/or the soup would be hot enough to finish the noodles. Considering the noodles are the primary component of the dish, it seemed like a pretty big miss. This would probably be rated higher if we dined in. Salt and Pepper Chicken (2/5): This was a spontaneous last minute order, and I honestly regretted it. 15 dollars got us 6 chicken wings that were honestly kind of dry. Taste was alright, pretty standard fare (salt and pepper is as basic as it gets) but portion size and texture makes this a definite skip. Shaking Beef (4.5/5): Pretty good! Comes with rice to cut the saltiness and the beef was tender and flavorful in a black pepper sauce. The veggies served as nice garnish and kept the flavors from being too one note. Overall, while I didn't love everything we ordered, I can see us coming back again - but I think that we'll be passing on pho to-go, and we'll definitely be skipping the wings next time. I feel like SoCal is so diverse and offers so many good food options, but one thing they never get right is pho. I tried this place out because I am new to the area (I have lived in other parts of SoCal) and I'm always on the hunt for good pho. Being SouthEast Asian, I know good pho. The meat to noodle ratio is off. Too much meat. The bowl was too small, mind you, I ordered the large since there's only a $1 difference from the medium and large. It was just disappointing. The broth was okay good. It wasn't horrible. The meat was chewy and a bit hard to swallow. The servers were nice, and checked up on me often, but when it was time for me to check out, they all disappeared. I tried getting their attention a few times, but they'd walk right past me. I finally got one of them to notice me, and she said "okay let me go get your check" mind you...they use tablets to close out. She took another 10 mins to get back to me. Just odd. read more

It was 6:15 on a Sunday night and the place was packed. THE NOISINESS WAS EAR SPLITTING. We could not hear ourselves talk which was an important issue for us both. And for 2 hours it continued!!!! I loved what I ordered salt and pepper calamari to share and diced chicken in lettuce cups. He didn't like his Pho at all ... ( I think he ordered the less spicy one).... The lettuce cups were way over sauced ... most times I do eat this dish the sauce is on the side. I still enjoyed it but my friend eschewed his portion and said " it all tasted like below average strip mall food"... I pointed out that many "restaurant gems" in Los Angeles are in strip malls and that I definitely didn't agree with his critique, but to be fair, the loudness ruined any kind of ambience and had ruined his appetite. It's one of my go to's in the middle of the week when I just can't figure out what I want to eat, but want something soupy and comforting. Wow I'm impressed with the pho here on the west side! It's hard to find good pho which the secret is having a good broth. Here they make their broth very flavorful and it does have more of a hint of sweetness to it but not overpowering and goes so well with the pho noodles and meat! They give good portions of through noodles which are bouncy and good portion of meats! I will be coming back here again to try their other pho and items! I'm giving two stars: one for the servers and one for the lone chef who was handling the entire restaurant on a Friday night. The lack of stars is reserved for management, who clearly didn't staff enough chefs for one of the busiest nights of the week. We waited 50 minutes for our pho, and what made it even more frustrating was seeing people who arrived after us get their food first. Love this location, parking is plentiful on the street (no private lot). Upon arriving, they are BUSY! To go orders and dine in and delivery drivers and I don't think they can handle this capacity but got to give a lot of credit to the amazing staff doing their very best! We got seated at our table but man these tables are close together, I couldn't hear my friend but I could for sure hear everything from the next table over. This is not a spot for hanging and talking, more for lovely atmosphere and eating food then taking off. We got the chicken pho, beef vermicelli bowl, and shrimp spring rolls. Decided to stop by Pho Show for some good eating. Parking is not a problem, however it's metered. WHAT WE ORDERED: chicken pho, shrimp pho, veggie spring rolls, honey shrimp, chicken phad Thai and a glass of wine. I asked for extra garlic and spice to be added inside and I was told that Spice could not be added and she could give me garlic on the side. I mentioned that we noticed some dishes are made spicy and if the same spice could be added to the shrimp pho and the waitress stated, the menu is dated and those dishes are not spicy. (I don't think she understood). Both phos were flavorless but once we added the garlic and sauces from the table... boom... flavor. Honey shrimp was hot and watery, spring rolls were delicious and the dipping sauce tasted similar to a watery vinegar and the chicken phad Thai had a little flavor and my wine was served with pink lipstick on the glass and I had on clear lipgloss We were there for over an hour and we were checked on twice. It wasn't too crowded and you could hear all the slurps and smacking from the customers around! My friend asked for napkins and only one was brought out so be sure to ask for plenty of napkins when you go. Stopped by on a cold afternoon right when they open for the dinner rush and the atmosphere was warm and upbeat, with some rock music playing in the bar area and spanish music playing from the kitchen. Inside seating is spacious with wooden tables separating patrons sitting on hard wooden seats along the walls and metal chairs. They have outside seating with heat lamps, so the cold isn't an issue. We chose to sit inside. I ordered a large Combo Beef Pho. It came in a pretty large bowl and the portions were okay. The thinly sliced beef was thin enough to cook in the hot (not scorching) soup so that it didnt turn rubbery and tough. The meat balls were cut in quarters and a good size. There was a good balance of tripe that didn't leave me feeling like there just wasn't enough variety. I usually add lots of Sriracha, Hoisin sauce, and lime to my pho, but their soup had a slight sweet taste and is great by itself. And yes, they offer lime and not lemon (there is a BIG difference). The service was good, but not great. I wasn't checked up on after the food arrived and my water wasn't refilled. After flagging down the server, I was able to get a refill, but there was no ice. Not a big deal, as things were starting g to pick up. It was my first time here and overall, it was a good experience and the pho was good, but not great. If you're looking for "authentic" pho, this may not be the place, but it is a great alternative if you need that pho fix.
