I love ordering it on cold days, if I'm ever sick, etc.. Great Asian comfort food that is also affordable. We also love the Minced Chicken Lettuce Cups and Egg Rolls with Ground Chicken, really tasty. Take a bite of the rolls with a bit of fresh lettuce, cucumber & carrots when dipping. This place ised to be great. And we've been getting the rare steak pho for about 6 years. Tonight I was not only shocked but yucked out. My rare steak consisted of alot of overcooked dark meat, fat, and cow tongue skin! This has NEVER been in my rare steak pho before, not to mention its not even listed in the ingredient list. I love their take-out options. It's so Easy to use the website. It accepts apple-pay and the website through Beyond Menu. When I pick-up my food, it's always hot & ready. Very quick service. I have seen the restaurant when it's busy and there are times it's completely empty. I have already order various dishes from them and never had a problem. They open late which is a bonus, because a lot of places in the area close early. Don't expect the fine-dining experience. You know those restaurants in the middle of Michigan that are called "Oriental kitchen" and have chinese, korean, and japanese food, but also chicken nuggets. And the local white people eat it up? That's what this feels like, but the west LA version. The good: - The pho soup and noodles were good - The egg rolls were pretty good! The medium: - chicken wings were "standard" per by partner The bad: - service. Looks like it's a common issue but takeout took much longer than they said it would take. Probably took 20 minutes longer than they said it would, even our door dash driver was pissed. - see the photo of the "crispy tofu" salad. Hella over cooked, super hard and stale to chew, the fact that an establishment feels okay serving that level of mess up to someone that paid for that is wild. - The meat in the pho was TOUGH. My bf and I got different types of meat and both of them were really tough, like where you keep chewing forever and it balls up into a dry collection of meat that you can't swallow. Again, the low level of quality control is disheartening. Instead of a kind and homey family owned restaurant it feels like the greed to try to expand to different types of asian food resulted in poor management and delivery of goods. I have been coming to 5i technically for years and I always found them to be consistent. I hadn't been in at least 4 years since I left the Culver City area. I was a bit shocked to find that the inside looked a little ran down and messy as they were using the front for storage. I got the impression they moved to pickup rather than dine-in over the years. The person who helped me was really nice and even though I took a bit longer to pick it up my noodles were warm and my spring rolls were not soggy. The spring rolls are a good size and the peanut sauce is the best I've tasted! I got the dry tom yum noodles and those were still as good as I remember. The leftovers lasted 3 days. There was a light citrus-type flavor I'm assuming from the mint, I could see some people really liking that part about it but it was not for me. The shrimp were great sized and tasted perfect. Peanut sauce, 8.5: almost exactly what I'm looking for in a peanut sauce. Creamy but easy to spread, very tasty. This is the 3rd times that I has come back to 5i because I really love this restaurant Pho Vietnamese noodle. I would say it is the best that I can find in Culver City. I order beef Spring Roll for appetizer. I enjoy the texture of the combination of rice paper, noodle, lectures, beef especially dipping with the peanut sauce. It is really amazing. I forgot all of the stress of my day. I ordered spicy beef noodle (number 108) for my main dish and a bowl of beef tripe + tendon. I can tell it is the best Vietnamese beef noodle that I have been eating in LA. I can taste the quality of the beef ingredients is pretty outstanding. It is better than any Vietnamese beef noodle restaurant that I have tried in LA. I am amazed while I saw the beef tendons has been cut into small slice as a sashimi portion which flowing in the really tasty broth. The spicy favor just bring all the ingredients and texture to the next level. Sincerely, I rarely drink a lot of beef noddle broth in mostly Vietnamese restaurants in LA cos I don't feel comfortable about that. However, I surprised that I could eat that much and completely drink all the broth. It ended up with two empty large bowl. I transform my stressful day to a delightful one after the meal. Overall, I can tell the owner put passion, sincerity, love and care to what they do. They pay extra attention to small detail. Today was the 3rd time that we've enjoyed 5i Pho at home, thanks to Grub Hub. We've ordered the same thing the last 3 times. - shrimp pho 5 Stars - chicken pho 4 Stars - curry veggie noodles 5 Stars - veggie egg rolls 4 Stars Today we added Orange Chicken. It gets 3 Stars. It was ok. Nothing memorable. Portions are good and sharing isn't a problem! The first time we ordered we got all the trimmings for our Pho. Second order, we were missing a bag of trimmings and the eel sauce (I think it's eel sauce) for the Pho. This order, we got everything. This is why I'm giving an overall score of 3 Stars. Consistently is key. The taste and quality is there but when you're missing the trimmings, my meal and taste buds suffer. Looking forward to trying new items. read more

I LOVE 5i! Listen they expanded their menu a few years ago beyond the Vietnamese pho dishes and I think that was a mistake on their behalf as well as those who order. Don't go to a Vietnamese restaurant expecting their orange chicken to be amazing. But if you get the Pho and spring rolls you will not be disappointed. It's the best pho I've had in LA. I've gone dozens of times - they have had several chef changes through the pandemic so I can't say they have never had an off day. I have tried about 7 or 8 different pho restaurants on the west side looking for a decent bowl. FINALLLY I found 5i, which has all the makings of a delicious bowl: - great broth - high quality meats, generous portions - generous portion of noodles - allllll of the toppings, no skimping out I have now eaten here more than 5 times, and quality is consistently good every time. While everyone flocks to Pho Show nearby, this little restaurant is also open late with no wait and some pretty great food and service! Loved the prices (most everything is $10 and under), large portions, tasty and fresh food and extremely warm and friendly service we experienced earlier this week when my partner and I dined late. I am a regular at Pho Show but have wanted to try 5i Pho for awhile since it is one of the few restaurants that shows up on a Yelp search as being open past 10 (it's open until 11pm). We arrived at 10:40pm and were surprised they would still serve us while most sit-down LA restaurants will tell you they only do to-go orders right before closing. What really stood out was how friendly our server and the staff were despite our being the last people in the restaurant. I'm used to being rushed but this was not the case. We ordered two noodle dishes (Saigon Vietnamese inspired noodles and Tom Yum Thai inspired noodles) which had huge portions and were delicious. Our server even came out with cut limes as she wanted to make sure our dishes were delicious. Both noodle dishes were only around $8 and we also ordered veggie spring rolls. The menu includes Vietnamese and Chinese food, and not so much Indonesian choices. They even have a few dim sum items, like shrimp dumplings, siu mai, and soup dumplings, which I will try in the future. I will definitely be back to try the pho noodle soup and their Chinese stir fry dishes. read more

Little hole-the-Wall but BIG flavor. This place has great Pho, excellent Steamed BBQ buns, yummy shrimp spring rolls, delicious walnut shrimp, and one of the best Thai Iced Teas I've EVER had. The service is excellent, fast, thoughtful, and attentive. The parking is super easy, free, in this little strip mall. The shrimp lettuce cups were just ok. How the heck did I not about this place and live in the area? I came here after learning about this place from my mother after she and her friend had lunch here one day. They came back and recommended I go try it...so I did! :) It took a few trips around the parking lot before I found parking right in front of 5i. There's more parking behind the building but you have a 50/50 chance of finding parking there. I walked in and the place wasn't too crowded. It was during the late lunch hour, so most of the lunch crowd had left by then. The waitress seated me right away. Wasn't too sure what to order so I went with the Pho Ga and the Spicy Chicken Fried Rice. Pho Ga is Pho made with chicken. It was served with basil and cilantro leaves, bean spouts, slices of jalapeño, and lime wedges on the side. I decided to add shrimp because duh, I love shrimp! It also came with glass noodles and the broth was incredibly rich with chicken flavor. It kinda reminded me of a chicken miso soup I once had. I ordered the large portion and boy was it large! One large portion could easily feed 3 people. The Spicy Chicken Fried Rice was really flavorful too! You taste the oyster sauce, the soy sauce, the chinese five spice, and the peppers. I had them make mines with brown rice. I loved it because the flavors paired very well with the nuttiness of the Brown Rice. I love that this place can customize your order to your taste preference. It has wheat and gluten free options here, which is an A+ in my book. The staff was polite. The restaurant was clean. Pricing is reasonable and affordable. The 5i Indochine Cuisine has been around for some time now. I've waited 9+ months to eat at this restaurant, because I wanted to wait for the operations to smooth out before giving it a try. I was really hoping that the pho was good, as there is no good Vietnamese pho restaurants in this neighborhood. We went in for a quick lunch on Labor Day. There are about 12-15 nice sized tables inside. At 12:30, we were one of two parties in the restaurant. By 1:00, the entire restaurant was almost full. I thought this was a good sign! We ordered two dishes: First dish was the Pho Thap Cam ($8.50 for a large bowl). The dish was well put together - a hearty portion of noodles, flank steak, tripe, tendon. It was served with a nice order of bean sprouts, basil, jalapenos, and limes. The biggest dissapointment to this dish was the broth. The broth was very dark brown, yet tasted very watery and bland. I did not taste like tru pho broth. Instead, it tasted like a Western version of a pork bone soup. Huge dissapointment, as the key to good pho is the broth. Grade: C The second dish was the Pho Tai ($8.50 for a large bowl). This dish is simple - pho noodles, broth, and we asked for the rare meat on the side. Here again, the broth (the main ingredient) was a dissapointment. Westernized and tasteless. We ordered a large bowl, but the noodles in this dish were literally 1/2 of the noodles that were in the other dish. I ended up having to re-distribute the portion of noodles between the bowls. It looks like they put a small bowl sized portion of noodles into the large order. Not fair. Grade: D- Maybe this was an off day? I'm willing to give it another try.
