I was excited to try to visit a vegan Thai restaurant. You will see a lot of the traditional Thai dishes made plant-based with only vegan ingredients. This place has a nice sized dining room, and was pretty full when we were there for dinner around 7 at night during the week. The service was pretty fast. I will say that the portion sizes are not very large. We ordered the tom yum soup, and it was a large single portion. We were able to ask for small bowls to share it, but that didn't seem to be the standard. The Pad Thai was good, as was the eggplant "catfish." Unique menu concept. Not a traditional Thai menu but a more upscale take on classic Thai menu items. The interior is nice and I appreciate that the waiters don't rush your meal at all. However, it felt at some points they even forgot we were there. The pad Thai was amazing. The noodles were delicate and the flavors were wonderful. Stopped by on a Saturday night around 6pm. It wasn't super busy, but we had a reservation just in case as a group of 5. I haven't had that much vegan Thai food, but was fairly impressed with the entrees overall. Unfortunately, the appetizers were a miss. The grilled oyster mushrooms were cold. Jackfruit pate was just ok. The star of the show was the beet dyed noodles. The flavor profile was amazing. I would come back just to get that dish again. Portion sizes were a bit small. We got the taro tapioca pudding for dessert, which was pretty tasty. It's more heavy on coconut flavor than taro, but still delicious. Service was fine. Water was refilled quite quickly and we were checked on multiple times. The dessert took quite a long time to come out though. We were waiting with the table cleared for probably 10 minutes even though we ordered dessert at the same time as our entrees. read more

5 stars for this delicious plant based Thai food and restaurant that has been around for over 10 years! I was impressed by the presentation and tastiness of these options. The only thing that wasn't pleasant was the smell of bleach when we walked in. They are obviously clean but need to clean and air the restaurant out before people came in to eat. We don't want to smell the bleach which affected the ambiance. Overall the service and especially the food was very good. I would have given it 5 stars if it hadn't been for the bleach smell and the mango sticky rice was a bit dry. Plenty of free parking in the plaza. read more

Yum yum! This is a no frills, casual, clean, restaurant that serves delicious food with friendly service. Perfect for anyone wanting to avoid eating animals and wants plenty of healthy options. The dishes are creative and different from typical Thai restaurants which often have overly sweetened sauces. The food isn't overly greasy or oily, just scrumptious. My husband and I arrived ravenous after a hike, ordered two starters (endive cups and spring rolls) a main dish (green curry with white rice), and pad thai noodles. Had a lovely dinner here a couple of nights ago! The service was so welcoming and friendly as soon as we arrived and the dishes came out so promptly. This is my favorite Vegan Thai restaurant in serving up unique and truly high quality food. They don't use any faux meats but instead rely on the power of veggies and grains to make the dishes healthier and more flavorful. My favorite dish is the catfish eggplant despite that I am not an eggplant fan at all. Somehow they've changed my mind about how eggplant can actually taste good! I also love the tom yum soup which is so comforting yet spicy as well as the pad Thai. For the appetizer, we got the Tod munn, which truly did have the taste and texture of a fish cake. I also highly recommend the cheesecake as it wasn't overly sweet yet still was decadent and creamy with a lovely fruit compote. The ambiance was lovely and wasn't too noisy. The Tom Yum soup was the perfect size and a bit too sour to my liking , but I still thought it was yummy! I don't order sour soups as much but I still enjoyed it. The Catfish though. Wow. It's made of eggplant, and I grew up not liking eggplant at all but I think this dish made me love it. The flavors combinations were perfect- with the crispness of the fried catfish on the outside to the softness of the inside that mimicked the texture of catfish (without the smell) and the mildly spicey side they put on the outside. OMG!! I would come back just for this dish. The Fried mushroom "chicken" also had a nice crunch to it but I thought the inside could've used more flavor , but the sweet and sour sauce and cucumber salad helped a lot! The food is SO GOOD, I mean really exceptional. The vibe is modern and natural, very cool dining room. The Beet Dyed Noodles are my fave, you have to try them. Everything we ordered was a hit! Started with the Pomelo & Shiso and Thai Fried "Chicken" off the specials menu. The pomelo & shiso was refreshing and delicious. Never had anything like it. The fried "chicken" was lions mane and it was perfectly crispy. The sauce was also great and the slaw it came with helped balance out the fried. Got the Yen Ta Fo special (pink noodles soup with wide rice noodles. Loved the variety of toppings that it came with. There was crunchy and chewy and flavorful soupiness. Yum! I agree with all the other reviewers who have shared negative experiences about the customer service, the manager and worst, the owner and her husband. On one occasion, the waitress asked us to leave and give up our table after an hour of being there even though we were not only still eating, but desire to order more food, because they decided our time was up and another party was waiting, lol. I remember being given a talking to because I asked for some salt to put on top of a dish I ordered that was under seasoned. Instead of perhaps turning their upset into concern as to why I might be asking for st, they could've cared less they were just offended that I even asked. The list goes on and on. It's their way or the highway. They don't really do much in terms of service in the service industry other than bring you your food and take your money at the end of it. I've eaten here several times and always order the same thing. This place isn't cheap--my check is usually over $50. Today, the tapioca pudding was tasteless and watered down. I order it regularly, so I know how it's supposed to taste. I brought this to the attention of two waitresses. The first one ignored my request for the cream sauce, which was clearly missing from the dessert. The second waitress was rude and gave me a hard time, insisting I pay extra for the sauce. Eventually, I spoke with the manager and decided I would never patronize this place again. You should never be mistreated because the chef failed to prepare the food correctly. I didn't ask for my money back--I simply asked for the sauce, which is a standard ingredient in the dessert. I will not return to this restaurant. If they keep this up, they'll end up shutting down like so many other vegan spots in Los Angeles because customers will stop patronizing you. If I didn't have to give it a 1 star to post this review I wouldn't. read more

Came back to Satdha recently as I was raving about it - it did not disappoint. Ordered one of their special appetizers (mixed vegetable, thai tempura dish) It was fabulous! Also got the green curry and it was so so good. The red curry paste tofu was amazing - I could eat tons of it. The food was decent and I appreciated that they use rice bran oil and not canola oil... that said the service was terrible.. we waited so long for the rice that does not come with the curry to be brought out and I had nearly finished my hot water when after asking several times, they finally brought the lemon out. And one of our dishes took so long to come that we cancelled it. The thing that was most disappointing was the size of servings given the price. If you plan on doing family style don't bother, every dish is one single small serving. The shocker was that they charged us 5$ for hot water. Never have I been charged for hot water in any restaurant I have ever been to... And there was no warning or letting us know so we could decide if we wanted it. I ordered the coconut lemon grass soup... Which was tiny and tastes terrible. It was so sour with very little lemon grass... if you want to get delicious vegan thai food with generous portions and authentic flavors, go to LA vegan! Before Covid, this place definitely deserved a Michelin star in my opinion. Even though a few things changed (mainly that they reduced their menu and got rid of one of my favorite dishes), I would still give them a star, present day. Everything that I have tried has been complex and layered with one astounding flavor after another. Many of the smaller dishes have delicate touches that elevate the taste and the experience. They are also very consistent, which is not easy for any restaurant to do, especially one that features many dishes with lots of different ingredients on one plate, as does Satdha. Not only is the taste consistent, but the freshness of the produce and ingredients are as well. Some of my favorite restaurants will, from time to time, disappoint me with old produce, etc. I'm obsessed with all of their curries, with the Khao Soi Ramen being my favorite. I love the beet dyed noodles, endive cup, Pad Thai and green curry rice. All of their salads are delicious! Again, very fresh ingredients and so many interesting flavors and textures in every bite. I was disappointed by the vermicelli with mung bean coconut curry sauce and the catfish eggplant was soggy, greasy, and not fried well. The service is good and the staff are very nice. I'm glad they survived Covid and hope one day they return to their former glory. However, it's still great and one of my favorite places in LA. read more
