found this place on yelp as i was coming into arizona and met up with some friends to try out the nearly 5 star rated hot dogs and myyyy gosh they were amazing!!! this store is a small store hidden in almost an alleyway looking street next to a plaza but the quality and flavors are there! the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly to us, explaining how our orders take a while because they're made fresh (heck ya!) and gave great recommendations! their flavors can be made vegetarian or vegan as they have vegan hot dogs as well. the fries are perfectly crisp and both the bacon ranch and chili cheese on top was so good. it may look like a standard hot dog but they're doing something right of people come from out of town just to get it! my boyfriend and i had to stop by again on our way home before we left! read more

On a recent trip to Scottsdale, I stopped by Simon's Hot Dogs for a late lunch on a weekday after hiking Camelback Mountain. Safe to say, I was exhausted and hungry so I pulled into the small shopping center and entered this small restaurant that specializes in Colombian hot dogs. I heard about the restaurant as it was listed as one of the top hot dog joints in the nation . . . high praise! You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. And while the menu is mostly hot dogs, they have a bunch of sides and some other options too. I went with a Colombian hot dog, sweet plantains with mozzarella on top, and a Colombian soft drink. While the restaurant is small, it's comfortable and they have free Wi-Fi. It's a casual spot perfect for a quick meal. And now to the important stuff: the dog. It was completely delicious. From the bun to the hot dog itself to the unique blend of sauces, melted cheese, and crisp potato sticks. The potato sticks gave it the crunch. The sauces gave it a delicious sweetness. Small restaurant with seating for about 10-12 people. Parking is in back of the restaurant. The food here is very good. The reason for 4 stars is just because the sandwiches and hot dogs are little small. High school age kids would probably need to order two things. They have plenty of drink options (see photos). They have interesting combinations for their dogs and good sauces. If you do not mind the slightly small size this place is 5 stars. My expectations of a "hot dog place" include it not being fancy, the dogs being tasty, the buns being fresh ... and everything served hot and fresh. This place lives up to my expectations. You can get beer here if that's your thing, too. I ordered the Paisita dog with fries and a drink and my wife and son placed their orders (dogs, fries, cheese and chili in various combinations). The lady at the counter was very nice and said she'd bring our orders to the table. To be fair, I like cole slaw and onions... and lots of other things, too. My big beef hot dog came in a fresh bun with just the right amount of toppings (some places go way overboard and others it is hard to tell the difference between a chili dog and a cheese dog). My dog had a bit of crunch and sour from the slaw and a different crunch from the crushed chips. I didn't really taste the pineapple -- I think it got lost in the slaw, but may have contributed some sweetness. You can see that mine wasn't as messy with the sauces as the menu photo (thank goodness!) ... but this dog was a good boy. They have vegan options, including vegan "bacon bits" or chili for some of the creations. Overall, pretty simple and tasty. I'd go back and think I'd have to get the Colombian dog next: pineapple, cheese, sauce and crushed chips :D read more

We got three hot dogs, a vegan mac & cheese, and some fries to split between us and whoa, we were so painfully full afterwards. We had the Tokyo Madness (teriyaki onions, wasabi mayo, and nori) with a California vegan dog, the Sonoran Cousin (refried beans, onions, mustard, Simon's Sauce, bacon bites, and jalapeños) with a Colombian chorizo dog, and the Colombian (Their signature dog - pineapple, mozzarella cheese, Simon's Sauce, and crushed potato chips) with the beef dog. Everything was legit good and there was no bad bite. You couldn't even tell that the vegan dog was meatless but I will admit that the beef dog has my heart. It was flavorful. I will say though that the vegan mac & cheese was giving me potato salad vibes. Maybe it was the texture, the color, or maybe my brain thought the color looked a lot like mustard but it had the potato salad vibes. It was tasty but not exactly mac & cheese, haha! And the fries... just get them! They're the perfect fry! Priscila got a regular non-vegan Alfajores (homemade butter cookies filled with dulce de leche) as a dessert and she enjoyed it! Beef hot dog is so juicy delicious. It goes well with every topping combo. My favorite is the Tokio madness. I could not believe that seaweed nori can go really well with hot dog. Corn maicitos are so addictive. I love the crunchiness of bacon and chip as well as the creaminess of corn and cheese. The columbian chorizo is flavorful and more dense than other kinds of chorizo. Honestly have never had anything I disliked from Simon's. Recently tried the sweet potato salad and it was so freaking good. That is coming from someone who typically does not like potato salad, but this chipotle version with sweet potatoes was great! They have 2 different versions of plant-based hot dogs, which are both great. I have enjoyed the Columbian, the German with kraut, the Sonoran... The bun is so soft and fluffy. The service here is very amiable. I must've misread the menu because I thought I'd get a small discount if I bought fries and a drink; I only got a small discount on the drink. I got one of the hot dogs and a large chili fries. I ended up really liking their chili but there simply wasn't enough chili on the fries. The hot dog was pretty good. Sweet tea is one of my favorite drinks and I have to say the sweet tea at this place was the worst sweet tea I've ever had in my life.
