Service was ok from the order taker, but the dude that was with her looked like the manager or owner was rude. Yelling at me to take my tray of chips and salsa on the counter. I dined in and ordered the steak burrito. Burrito was dripping so much from underneath that when I was almost finished I discovered a pool of grease on my plate. A few min after it caked up into a lard looking substance. Also the steak was very salty and room temperature when I received it. I also order a steak taco with cebolla y cilantro and it seemed like they used a diffrent type of steak for the taco compared to the burrito; because it wasnt so salty and greasy like the steak used in the burrito. Also it was a lighter color compared to the darker one in the burrito. I dont recommend the place especially for first timers. I'm praying i dont get sick tonight from all that grease. I had to stop eating it when i got close to the end of worse it looked in the bottom of the tortilla.

Outstanding carne asada! The beans and rice were great too, very savory/flavorful dishes. The steak was nicely charred and had some charred onions in it too. I like that they chopped it into stripes to make assembly into tacos easier. It came with guacamole and a scoop of sour cream too. We also had shrimp fajitas which were richly flavored and grilled as well. Excellent horchata, not too sweet and very creamy.

I found this place when I dropped off food from my side hustle at a business close by. I walked in and noticed that the place was really clean. Murals on the walls were colorful and showed lots of love for Chicago. The guy behind the counter was friendly and greeted me. I ordered the Super Burrito dinner. It came with rice and beans and a super packed and tasty carne asada burrito. You can choose your own protein. I was offered chips and salsa while my food was being made. It was a great way to taste the red and green salsa. The salsa were on the creamy side. The red salsa is my favorite with a little smoky flavor. The rice had flavor, where many other places are not as flavorful. The bean were creamy and rich almost buttery like. Yum!! The burrito had guacamole, onions, lettuce, cilantro, sour cream, beans, and tomatoes. I might be missing something. The burrito was made perfectly, I was able to get all the items in one bite. I was so full, I had to get a box for the rest of my food.

    Burrito

I went there for the first time tonight I ordered 2, 3 taco platters and told them I wanted no onions. Every taco was coated in onions. I also ordered a burrito and told them I just wanted meat and cheese and it was so skinny. I will not be returning to this location because it feels like a waste of my money.

I've been to this restaurant several times. They are actually my preferred go-to for tacos. I mostly get the shrimp tacos, but the chicken tacos are also good. The guacamole hits the spot. At some point, I will try some of the other menu items.

came here because i had a slight craving for tacos and i was in the neighborhood. BEST TACOS EVER. the asada was so juicy and the tortillas are soft. they also gave us complimentary tomato soup. they are so friendly there and would 11/10 recommend !!

3 taco plate. Full of flavor and plenty of volume. Come hungry.

This was our second visit to Simon tacos. The first was many years ago, relatively soon after they opened. But recently, at least I think recently, there was a remodel to the exterior which enticed me to go back in. Wow, what a nice surprise it was this visit. fFrst and foremost the staff was unbelievably friendly and kind and helpful. I ordered a three taco plate and mixed my selections to the shrimp, chorizo and El Pastor. I am not sure what order I went in when eating my three tacos, but it seemed it went from savory all the way up to spicy and enough where I had to order a second Horchata to cool my pallet. The flavors were outstanding and the spice level was just perfect although as per before mentioned, I did need to get some cooling with a second drink, but that's because my gringo tastebuds are very immature to the flavors and spices of Mexican cuisine. Come hungry. Portions are large and prices were reasonable. We will be back.

They truly go above and beyond to make sure they deliver great customer service. They'll do little things like offer you a free taco of their Birria while you wait for your food. Go to any market in Mexico and they'll treat you the exact same. Unfortunately for them their original Southside location is closed due to a fire but they'll be back hopefully soon! My son and daughter both ordered their Birria Tacos, my wife ordered their Quesabirria tacos and I ordered their Tazon Chico of their carnaza Birria of course. It also came with a side of their handmade tortillas. Everything tasted so fresh and the Birria was very delicious. So much flavor in the consome. Ordering the tazon is definitely they way to go here because you get the meat in the consome. But if you wanted meat only, you have the option of ordering their plato instead. Regardless of what you order here, you won't go wrong. Enjoy!

Despite their well-earned fame, this spot keeps the humble, hole-in-the-wall energy intact, small, unpretentious, and staffed by some genuinely warm and welcoming people. Pop in, grab a seat, and let them do the rest. My fiancé and I shared the quesabirria combo, two quesabirrias with consomé, a Mexican Coke, and a Jamaica, and honestly, everything was amazing. The Jamaica alone deserves its own shoutout: perfectly balanced, not too bitter, not too sweet, and exactly what you need to cut through the heat of the food. The tacos came out piping hot, prepped right in front of us, loaded with cheese and packed with flavor. The consomé was warming, rich, and perfectly spiced, the kind of broth that makes you want to tip the bowl. And the accompaniments (onion, cilantro, peppers, lime, and salsa) give you full control to doctor things up to your liking. For spice lovers, this setup is a dream. My one gripe, and the sole reason I'm docking a star, is the price. At around $30 for two tacos, a consomé, and drinks, it's a tough pill to swallow. As a Mexican American, there's something about that price point that pulls me slightly out of the authentic experience I was hoping for. I fully respect the craft and passion behind this food, but it's worth noting. That said? Don't let it stop you. This food is incredible, and I'll absolutely be back.

Really awesome space at a crowded downtown location. Foods were served on nice metal holders or disposable/environmentally friendly containers and utensils. The tacos were huge, and I love that they focus on the variety of vegetables on the taco, which is often overlooked at other places. Veggies also make the taco look beautiful. I particularly enjoyed the tikka paneer, the paneer was soft for paneer but firmer than tofu, a really great texture. And the flavor wasn't overpowering. The tikka sauce was light, which I am totally fine with. The chicken quesadilla was also made well and of good value, the kids all really liked it. The salmon was good too but didn't really stand out as much, but appreciate the variety veggies on top! The mexi-Cali shrimp bowl was not bad either, but also didn't stand out much. The shrimp was good but I prefer it cooked even lighter if possible. Flavor was good tho. The rice was long grain, which I prefer, but they do give quite a lot, I ended up having quite a lot leftover. I wish the had a bit more cilantro or other herby mix to increase the depth of flavor, but overall still pretty good. Queso was also really good, thick and creamy, not too salty, but sadly the kids didn't like it as much. Husband also liked the gochujang pork a lot, said it was actually really really good. Overall, we really enjoyed everything we had there. Love that they also had paper towels everywhere. My preferred method of keeping clean haha. Will definitely come back.
