I've been ordering from here through grub hub and it seems like every time I ordered my meat well done/extra crispy they purposely gave it to soggy (tripe tacos). I even wrote it in Spanish. This is my new favorite go to for fantastic Mexican food. The staff is polite and professional, the food is great, and the prices are really really reasonable especially if you go in and pick it up yourself. They offer delivery through some of the apps but not on their own. The chips and guac always taste really fresh, yes the chips too, and the carne asada burrito is my absolute favorite in the neighborhood, I want to eat one or two more of them each time I finish one. One of the best local Mexican restaurants. Regularly come here and get their chilaquiles with the Jamaica. The chilaquiles are a modest level of spicy without overtaking the flavor. Recommend with the carne, which comes shredded instead of as a large piece. Would also recommend their Quesadilla with chicken, and burrito with no lettuce (otherwise it'll mostly be tortilla and lettuce). Small dining area featuring colorful wall decor and interesting booth seating, the restaurant does a lot of take out orders. Staff is super friendly, asked if we wanted more chips and salsas to go. Ordered our food for takeout for the office, food was still hot, packaged well and all items were nicely separate and packaged. The Al pastor was super flavorful, however the gordita could have had a bit more seasoning. Portions were standard, chips and guacamole were a delicious addition to the meal. This place was well worth the money. But beyond that, there are a lot of other great things about this place. Our waitress was very nice. The place is very brightly decorated and also very uniquely decorated. Every single Booth is unique in that every aspect of it is hand carved wood that is very uniquely painted with very creative depictions. The same goes for the artwork on the wall, all very creative. Basically the whole place is a very interesting work of art, all hand carved wood sculptures making up the booths with very unique painting. It's really hard to describe and I've never seen anything like it. It's not a fancy place but it sort of seems like one in an odd way because of all the art. Both the food and service are amazing, the servers were really attentive. The ambiance is really welcoming, the tables and chairs have Mexican imagery and makes for great pictures! Just did a carryout order here of the taco dinner. This included 2 tacos of your choice of meat and rice and beans. I chose the steak and chicken tacos. Both were quite tasty and had lots of meat in it. The only thing that I didn't like was that the tortilla was soggy by the time I ate it. I usually like my tortilla sauteed and crisp and this was just too floppy for me. Also the rice was okay but I've had better beans as they were a little bland. The service was quick as it only took 5 minutes from the time we called in our order for it to be ready. Poor Quality Control & Food Poisoning at this Mexican Restaurant! I took my girlfriend to this restaurant for dinner after work during the week. We both ordered steak burritos, same dish. The meat tasted very strange, it lacked flavor and the texture felt like oatmeal. The next day I got severe fever and dizziness. I got food poisoning from this place. I don't eat out that often, and it's sad because I'm less open to eating out now. I was sick with fever for about a whole fucking week. Do not eat at this restaurant, they either don't know how to cook meats properly and give people food poisoning or they are using meats and ingredients that are not made fresh, probably meat made several weeks ago ago and have grown bacteria. Fast forward a year since my last visit and still bringing the goods. Ordered three tacos, $2.35 each, that came out way too fast to be made from scratch. While the meat was just re-heated on the griddle, it still was mighty satisfying. The Al pastor had the nicely crisped pieces providing good textual contrast. All tacos were piled high with meat so, with the overflow, I was able to make a fourth taco out of one of the double layered corn tortillas. This place is near my home so I visit them whenever I'm craving amazing salsa (there's is phenom) or just need quality and close proximity. The chicken on their tostadas is overall very tender though I have had some dry to mediocre encounters, leading me to recalling what I know it CAN be. Love how they double layer their tostada shells to increase stability...professional eater thinking lol Also even with the layering of the tostada shells will get soggy as this place makes the food very quickly so make sure you time your pick up accordingly.The verde is also very complimentary. Tryed this place for the first time on 10/08/2020, and used a credit card to pay for my order. Went to pick up and signed the receipt for $33.08. The next day I checked my statement and found that an employee named Sussy added a $5.00 tip without permission. The food here is not very good and the employees dishonest. I was told recently to try this place. I'm glad that I did. This particular area doesn't hold very many good restaurants to pick up a decent meal from. Of course there is McDonalds and my favorite KFC but it is lacking fast establishments when in a pinch. Since I am frequently in the area around dinner time and find myself getting a quick "to tide you over" snack from McD's because of all the school functions we are involved in....I am often left in a pinch without any options. Now mind you , there are other places within a short drive, but seriously , most of the time I don't have the time to get there. Just ONE MORE block down Cicero at the corner of Roscoe is this little restaurant, I probably would not have even tried before the recommendation. Food is very flavorful, fresh and super fast. It sure beats a cheeseburger, bucket of fried chicken, or the $1.00 hot dog we sell at school at concessions. I can actually feel good about the tacos or burritos or torta that I give my kids for dinner without having the major guilts of stopping at mcd's for the upmteenth time. I really like the chips, even if it is from a bag (who cares), and the salsa is VERY good. I really like this place. Although my orders have been limited to tacos, burritos, or tortas so far, I have been super happy with everything. Price is very resonable with good portioned orders as well. I can split a burrito between two teenage kids and call it a meal. So to sum it up, I haven't had a bad experience here. I've ordered take out, and eaten in. As far as little establishments go, I think it is on the "better" side of the scale..
