I tried carne asada, chorizo, and al pastor tacos. all the meat was dry and seasoning varied. Asada was most bland. I was happy with the tortilla and green sauce to add flavor. Friend liked his massive torta. Other friend liked his quesabirria. Consomme was meaty and savory. Horchata was very good, heavy on the cinnamon. Quality was a mixed bag but quantity for price is why I would come back. Service was very friendly.

Chilaquiles Verdes

Amazing food!! Super wonderful service!! We stopped in for Sunday brunch where we enjoyed the menudo and chilaquiles verdes. Both entrees blew away our expectations. And the table chips and salsa were so good, I took the extra home with me. Music was on the loud side, but it added a nice energy to the ambiance and my partner and I still were easily able to carry on conversation without a problem. Highly recommend.

First time here at El Primos!!

I'm a bit late to El Primo, like 10 years late and I'm also somewhat late to the quessabirria taco sensation. And I guess it's because I'm not really into anything goat meat related. However, thankfully, their birria tacos are made with really tender beef. 23 and Me states that I'm 4.8 percent Spanish and Portuguese but I'm like Rick Bayless when it comes to a sincere passion for Mexican food. So when I stumble upon a place like El Primo - my mind gets completely blown away because this awesome place is hiding in plain site, like a serial killer in the suburbs. The service was attentive and the food was tasty, flavorful, fresh and eye popping. No pandemic, anemic portions here and our tortilla chips were freshly fried, I got an entire bowl of consommé for my tacos too. I have to come back to try other items but I will come back for these tacos. I was reminded of Northern and So. Cal eating here, they're that good Ese. Oh, I forgot my beers and it's BYOB here and that's yet another big plus. Or maybe I'll bring pre-made Margaritas next time. ;)

¡Los MEJORES tacos que he COMIDO! Probé la carne, el pollo y el bistec. Compré 20 y obtuve una oferta. Haven't had a Torta for a very long time. For a small taqueria, I expected counter service. But they take your order at your table and deliver it without needing to pick it up yourself. It was not very busy, but there were still quite a few people there. Taqueria El Primo does not have a big staff, and they make everything to order. So, it took a little longer than I expected to be served, but the quality of the food was outstanding. Rather than rice and beans, I had their fries. Very good. Way too much food - food coma afterwards. I was very pleased and will be back.

Steak Taco with cilantro and onion (so good!!)

When we moved from South Loop to Old Irving Park, we needed a new go to Mexican food spot that had great tacos for me and this is very specific, but also had alambres for my husband. This place is it for us!! We get the alambres which is steak, bacon, cheese and peppers and served with side of tortillas, rice and beans. You can make about 4-5 tacos with this dinner plate for $12.99. The taco dinner comes with 3 tacos, rice and beans for $9.99. You also get red and green salsas on the side. The green is a little spicier and red is classic FRESH tomato salsa. Order over the phone and your pick up order will be ready in 10-15 minutes!

We just ate here for the first time tonight ! Nice place nice employees and on Tuesday and Wednesdays they have $1 tacos!!! That you can't beat! I got chicken and asked for only sour cream and cheese My fiancé wanted everything (steak)and they only put lettuce and tomato...he said and I quote disappointing!! But I was pretty pleased with the food from here and would like to go back every week for cheap and yummy tacos!!

1. They're open till 11pm 2. Rice and beans taste authentic 3. Horchata is pretty on point 4. Only one server, but efficient and friendly 5. Chips were a little stale (at 10pm), but the salsa, especially the salsa verde was delicious as well as the guacamole! 6. They gave us plastic forks for our rice and beans, but we had taco dinners so not mad about it. Hope that's not the case with traditional entrees. Overall the food was great! Filling and reasonable. Dare I say better than Lazo's...

(inquire about the 4% service charge added) No rice or beans with any of my parties' dishes, not sure if that is an option. Time to be seated was less than five minutes for a party of four around 2:20 PM on a Sunday; busier times or days enforce their 90 minute time limit policy per table. The food was well seasoned, wish I tasted it a little more on the meat itself, yet all the vegetables tasted crisp and fresh. If you are looking to have intimate conversations be prepared to speak a lot louder, the DJ booth by the front keeps it pretty lively, but difficult to hold conversations across the table. Open authentic Mexican soda is always refreshing, and if you're looking for a place that has soft serve margaritas this is one of them. If you notice and unusual wait time or slow service please make your choice accordingly as I started to notice it was a case by case basis like some of the previous reviews had mentioned.

I must admit that I had low expectations because quite frankly, I have not enjoyed Mexican food outside of Mexico or California. However, we were hungry, and it was near where we were staying, so I decided we should check it out, and I am so glad we did! The food was great. Both adults and the VERY picky children in our group all enjoyed our meals. I ordered the green chicken enchiladas and the other adult ordered a chile relleno combo, which I also got to try. Everything was delicious and devoured by all! We were so full but the owner talked us into the chocoflan, and we did not regret trying it. It was soooo good! Speaking of the owner, the service was great. We really enjoyed how he and the rest of the staff were very courteous. It is a small establishment, and it gets a good amount of people, so I assume that there are waits during peak hours. I highly recommend Sabroso! And we plan to return the next time we are in the area.

We came later on a Monday night so we did not have to wait to get a seat although it was still pretty busy. The place is decorated nicely. Well on a block with many other Mexican businesses. Located right off the pink line it is very easy to get to and also noted to be near the Mexican art Institute. The chicken mole enchiladas were delicious. Spicy and bitterness of the chocolate balanced super well. rice was also cooked perfectly. The shredded beef dish was short rib and mashed potatoes. They were meant to be assembled into a homemade tortilla - a very interesting concept. The homemade tortillas were so warm and fluffy. I have never had such good tortillas. I took a tamale plate home. It was large and had a good portion of shredded pork. Super flavorful, but also I felt the texture might've been firmer than I would've expected.
