We just had our cake tasting at Simon Lee and I couldn't have been more disappointed! We sat there for 12 minutes before they brought out the pieces of cake to start the tasting. When I asked for water Art seemed hesitant to bring us any. I would have thought that it was a normal request when tasting cake. After we finally got the cake and went through the flavors it was downhill. He did ask us all the normal questions, but then he was so hung up on the other places we have tried and how the compare. He wanted to know who else we've tried. Then he straight up asked "How did their cake compare to ours". It was so extremely uncomfortable! And then to top it off he flat out asked "so what pricing did they give you?" Which only made it more awkward. He followed up by asking what other places we are going to. Then when he found out we live in Pflugerville he jokingly chided us for not shopping local. I understand that while he is drawing out the cake he has to find something to talk about but that was completely inappropriate. It was such a terrible experience I would never recommend Simon Lee to anyone. We spent more time talking about our other tasting than we did what we wanted from Simon Lee.

THE BEST WEDDING CAKES IN TOWN!!! We loved everything about working with Simon Lee - the deliciousness of their cakes is unmatched, their look & quality of work is perfect, and their kindness and professionalism is rare. Judy and Jad took such great care of us. Their bakery may not be the fanciest but that doesn't even matter - the cakes are beautiful and delicious. Not like your guests are even going to see what the bakery looks like... I must have changed my mind about the style of cake at least 5 times - each time they were so helpful and patient. My final choice was actually one that Judy recommended and it turned out better than I could have imagined! She read me so well and got the cake spot on. I cannot stop looking at pictures of my cake! Daniel's cake was a basketball on a sheet cake base that looked like a basketball court - amazing! The detail and accuracy of everything blew everyone away. We had so many guests tell us it was the best cake they've ever had and we completely agree. We found out after our wedding that our coordinator walked in on the venue workers boxing up extra cake to take home. While that really angers me, it speaks volumes of just how amazing the cake is. Simon Lee is worth every delicious penny.

I found Simon Lee through the Bridal Expo last year. I tried many different cakes and flavors, and Simon Lee had the best tasting cake HANDS DOWN. So moist and the flavors are authentic, not artificial. Another thing that stood out was their cake displays. WOW so tall, detailed, elegant and beautiful. They have such a wide range of talent, doing not only wedding cakes, but grooms cakes, birthday cakes, specialty cakes. They make UT tower replica cakes for goodness sake! Simon Lee makes the unthinkable happen. I worked with Judy from the get go, and she is just MARVELOUS. She was so helpful from the first consultation to the day of the wedding. I brought in some inspirational photos, and she took copious notes and really took my vision to heart. She copied my inspirational photo into my customer profile and sketched everything out so that I can approve. Very thoughtful and customer focused. She did both my wedding and groom's cake, and they were completely different concepts. Simon Lee also has the BEST flavor combinations. I drool every time I look at her filling and cake flavor sheet. We did three different cake flavors and a unique filling for each, one for each tier. Judy helped us pick the best combinations and let us try each. They use the best ingredients and their butter cream is so velvety- it's to die for! My cake turned out exactly how I wanted it the day of. I was able to rent one of her beautiful cake stands for a fraction of the cost. The sugar flowers are the best I've ever seen. They look so real and ethereal. The groom's cake took everyone's breath away and my husband was SO HAPPY! I will recommend Simon Lee until the end of time!!!!!!!!!

I've dabbled in cake decorating, so I have an idea about the cost of ingredients and the amount of labor that goes into making a cake. I'm also from the NYC area, and am used to those kinds of prices. The cake we got from Simon Lee for my parents' 50th Anniversary was very reasonably priced, absolutely a show-stopper, and truly delicious. Thank you to everyone at Simon Lee for such a high quality and lovely cake for my parents' special day.

The food court is in Pflugerville just off of Pecan Street to the west of the big curve at Windermere where Pecan Street goes from Southeast to Northeast. There are a ton of amazing restaurants on both sides of Pecan Street near Spring Hill Drive. The food court on the South Side is especially good both for the trucks themselves and for the brick and mortar establishments near them. Look for a faded sign saying Pflugerville Plaza - and a convenience store that is ratty even by convenience store standards. Across the court from Cosi Churreria is a brick and mortar Nigerian restaurant with cardboard signs saying HELP WANTED. They warn you not to come in unless you are willing to wait thirty minutes for your food. The Nigerians are not exactly knocking themselves out to win your business. First appearances would suggest you have come to a terrible place. First appearances are totally wrong. All of the other trucks and establishments off the parking lot look fantastic. The two I have eaten at were either grand slam home runs or multi-base hits. * * * Cosi Churreria was the grand slam home run. Like many other churros places, Cosi Churreria is pink, pink, pink and pink. They have a nice outdoor courtyard with fake grass in front of food truck where you can sit at tables and eat your desserts. There are outdoor toys for the children to play with. The afternoon I was there, an aunt or mother of the baker was sitting outside babysitting the baker's kids while Mama cooked. It was the commuter hour on a weekday and there was no one there. (I suspect the bakery and the food court as a whole get much more action on weekends.) There were all sorts of intriguing churro options on the menu. However, they also do pancakes. I went with pancakes with fresh strawberries and dulce de leche. OH MY GOD ! ! ! ! ! ! ! The pancakes are tiny itsy bitsy pancakes - Orthodox buttermilk pancakes but smaller than even silver dollar pancakes. I have no idea where they get their strawberries - but the strawberries are sensational. It is zero surprise when a churro place has good dulce de leche. That said - their dulce de leche is all star material. I was living in a happy world. They offer a good espresso to go with the baked desserts. Little kids have non-caffeinated drink-treats they can have instead. * * * If I was a little kid, I would wash the dishes every day for a week if Mommy and Daddy would take me here. I am an adult so I can come here any time I want. The desserts are totally totally worth it. I still have to wash the dishes at home.

Immediately decided to come here for my daughter's birthday cake. I recently tried and failed at curating a beautiful but disgusting cake from a different bakery so I did not want to mess this one up! I called and the owner was very upfront about flavors, pricing, decor and overall cake chemistry, this transparency is so important! We ended up getting something simple but she truly delivered! Flavor profile was insane. Cake was soft and melt in your mouth delicious. When I say I hateeeeee buttercream with a passion and prefer whipped icing - primarily based on the fact that everyone likes buttercream and store bought versions are just gross to me - I was hesitant to try this one but BAYBEEEEEE. Open later than most coffee shops, especially in this deserted part of town. Varied drink menu, both caffeinated and not caffeinated, including refreshers. Nice creative variety of desserts (including a Biscoff cake!) and a kolaches case. At one point the brought some hot baked dessert (looked like a whole coffee cake) out the oven and it smelled like heaven. The bad: Nothing vegan or healthy, not even pre-made cold sandwiches or packaged salads. If you are a little peckish for a healthy snack, this is not the place. The coffees: They have all the regular espresso drinks, and also Turkish coffee and of course Yemeni, their specialty. I had heard great things about Yemeni coffee and was exciting to try it. My first drink, a traditional coffee drink called Jubani ($6) contained coffee but was watery like a tea. It had also ginger and cinnamon. I was not expecting it to be like a tea. I immediately told the cashier I didn't like the drink and would like just an Americano, double shot espresso. I was charged $9 for a 12 oz cup. No cream or sugar, no added flavorings. If I were in charge I wouldn't have charged for this second drink, since it comes at almost zero cost to them and would show good faith and ensure repeat business. Disappointingly, the Americano was also watery and sort of "lemony", but I still drank half while sitting with my friend. I'll say that my friend had some sort of an iced latte that she enjoyed. I might try a second visit and order a Turkish coffee, but I will make sure to have had a full meal before.
